How to export Calendar data without truncate "Description" field

$

Hi All!

While trying to export Calendar data entries from Exchange 2007 trough Outlook 2007, both in Excel or Access, I always get truncated data on the "Description" field. Even with .csv export, I get the same behavior.

Any procedure I should follow, server/client side script?

Thanks in advance

Exchange Apps (Bing, Suggested meetings...) pulling up a stale URL when accessed

$

I hope someone can help me. Our OWA URL is mail.company.com and that works. When you select a suggested meeting or Bing Maps app in OWA I can see using fiddler that a new tunnel is being established to testmail.company.com. I did use testmail.company.com for testing and removed it but cannot seem to find where it would still be for the apps to pull it from. Even navigating the ECP, when going to the apps section I get that the images are failing to load for the apps because that is trying to resolve testmail.company.com.

I did reset all the virtual directories back to default and still the same issue. Any idea on how to remove or update that stale URL?

Microsoft Exchange is unavailable

The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

I get this message when trying to open Outlook 2010 on one specific computer only; all other computers are working fine.  We are running MS Exchange Server 2007 Version 08.02.0301.000.  I've tried to enter the settings for the server but it is not accepting them.  It then says: Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name.  The connection to MS Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

I installed this computer April 2012 and had no problems with it.  So I'm not sure when this started but it has worked before.  I'm setting it up like every other pc.  I am able to hit other network resources and I can ping the exchange server.  I've even went to the extreme and uninstalled Office and it still isn't working...What am I missing?

Thanks.

shared calendar permission issues

on suggestion from the outlook forum I've posted in here. Hoping someone can help

hi

server is sbs 2003 r2 (obviously with exchange 2003 as part of it)

client creating the calendar is using outlook 2007

clients accessing the calendar are using outlook 2010

problem is they want to use a shared calendar to act as a room diary.

they can create events, but it would appear that everyone has the ability to delete others events.

I checked the permissions from within the outlook 2007 client > tools >options>preferences>calendar options>resource scheduling>set permissions

all but one user has author permissions so can read full details, delete own, write create items, write edit own, other folder visible

however if I create a meeting and invite the shared resource it automatically accepts. but anyone can seemingly delete the event and the event cancel message has a subject of cancelled meeting followed by user x on behalf of xxxxx

any ideas, pointers or suggestions welcome.

thanks

OWA stuck in "Loading" on IE10

Using my personal laptop running Windows 7 Home, I used to be able to connect to OWA through a vpn with IE10.  Suddenly I now get "Loading" in the Inbox window along with a few icons.  I know I've recently downloading some files while trying to get my Intel WIDI Push2TV feature working (hopefully unrelated).  I can get my OWA access working properly if I use my home computer or use google chrome.  I just don't know what to do to get it working again on my laptop which is my primary source of using this OWA for my email access.  Any ideas?

Unable to connect to exchange 2013 from internal client with Outlook 2007

$

Hi.

I have created a new virtual "test" environment, with 3 machines, all connected to the same virtual network.

1) Windows Server 2012, Domain Controller + DHCP server

2) Windows Server 2012, Member Server + Exchange 2013

3) Windows 7 Pro + Outlook 2007

Now: i have set from "ecp" all the basic things in exchange 2013, as "accepted domains", receiving and sending connectors, verified in "server - server - outlook anywhere" that the field "internal server name" was as i expected (exch2012.mydomain.mycity).

Then I created a new account "USER", directly from ECP, with his new mailbox.

I have connected the Win7 client to the domain, and created a local user corresponding to the one created in exchange/AD. The client is connecting regularly to the domain, no problem here.

Even if I try to access the mailbox from Internet Explorer, going to "https://exch2012/owa", i can access it, and even send and read message.

The problem here is when i try to create an Outlook 2007 profile. As i enter in the profile manager in control panel, and try to create the profile, the wizard auto-fill the fields with name="user" and address="user@mydomain.mycity". Anyway, i choose to manually configure the account. In the next windows, the wizards asks for the server name, and here i type "exch2012.mydomain.mycity". In the user field i set "user".

As soon as i hit the "check name" button, the wizard answer "unable to complete the action. connection to microsoft exchange not available. to complete the operation, it is necessary that outlook is on a network or connected" (sorry - my server is in italian and i tried to translate the message the best i can).

The communication from the 3 machines are, i guess, perfect, since the ping "machine_name" respond perfectly. As said i can even access the mailbox via OWA from the same Windows 7 machine, typing simply the servername/owa.

There is something else i am failing to do...but i don't know anymore what it could be!

Hope someone can help me.Thanks

After migrating to Exchange 2012 my Outlook 2013 rules do not work

$

I recently migrated my Exchange 2010 box to Exchange 2012 (all updates required for co-existence have been applied) and since then my Outlook rules are not running automatically. (I have been using Outlook 2013 for a while so there wasn't a change in client after the migration.)

I have tried:

  • deleting and recreating the rule(s) that is used most often;
  • deleting all the rules and recreating just the one that is used most often;
  • deleting and recreating the same rule through OWA;
  • starting Outlook with /cleanrules and recreating the rule;
  • turning off Cached Exchange Mode.

None of this has worked and the rule simply does not run automatically but it will run fine when run manually.

Any ideas?

Same problem Brian in-fact a couple of more since we got it into our org for a migration.

ENV:

WNLB /  NO - TMG

4 CAS 2010 servers (Stopped in NLB)

2 CAS 2013 (OWA redirected using 403.4 in Error Pages)

2 MBX 2010 in DAG (All Production mailboxes there - Since all the URLs etc are set correctly no issues on clients connecting)

2 MBX 2013 in NEW-DAG (Since DAG requires the same platform we didn't want it to be 2008R2)

Current Issues:

1. OWA Error in IE 10 - Error:Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later.

---- Fails on IE 10, reset the browser etc (Because of this issue I am scared of migrating the mailboxes)

Works like a charm on chrome, FF, Safari. Sometimes fails on Chrome as well.

This mailbox was migrated from 2010 to 2013 for testing and (all client connectivity works fine)

2. OWA: Gibberish When connected to a mailbox in 2010

issue in the PIC text itself

Outlook 2013 not sending when selecting from contacts

$

Ok ... I have a strange issue, basically when sending through Outlook emails send fine if the contact is typed in and not linked to a contact, if the person is in the contacts and gets linked to an existing contact (by either entering an email address or selecting someone to send to through contacts) the email sending fails.

By fails I mean it does not error on sending (infact it says Sending complete), but never actually sends, instead it goes to Outbox and then retries sending again in a few mins.

My setup is Exchange Server 2013, Outlook 2013, the configured account type in Outlook is: "Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync" compatible service.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kris

Spell Check Not Working

$

I am on the faculty of a college that uses Microsoft Outlook Web Access for its email. Sometimes  the spell check works and other times I cannot get it turn on. My college is on a Windows 7 but soon is (I hope) going to Windows 10.

When you right click on the word in question, you get  a sign that says "Spell-Checker Options" and  then "English" appears to the right. Below the  word "English" you have three options in descending order in the pull down menu:

1. Language settings

2. Check the spelling of text fields

3. Ask Google for suggestions

My problem is I often have to ask Google  for suggestions 3 to 4 times on simple words that would not be among  hardest in the Merriam Webster 10 question quiz on their website.

Sometimes I give up on it helping me and do the 1950s thing and I go to the bookshelf and get a dictionary. I would rather not do that . I am now doing that for every 20th new difficult word.  What should I do?

OWA 2013 Expired Password Change - not working

$

We are in the process of moving mailboxes from our 2010 environment to our 2013 environment and are using the 2013 CAS as internet facing, for any mailboxes on 2010, requests are proxied through.

We have the registry DWORD ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled set to 1 in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA but this isn't working.

It use to work perfectly well when we had the 2010 CAS server internet facing.

Is this still supported in Exchange 2013?

Outlook Calendar not updating for Meeting Organizer.

Outlook Calendar not updating for Meeting Organizer.

This question is really quite simple.  Despite this I haven't found an answer or suitable work around yet.

background:
Two user and a public folder (type calendar).
  Both users using Outlook 2010.
  Exchange is Exchange 2007 SP3

Public folder named "Calendar" where all users have relevant READ; WRITE; DELETE; OTHER; permisions.

setup:

"User A" creates appointment in a public folder named "Calendar".
"User A" includes "User A", and "User B" as an "antendee".

So far so good.  let's review what is working right.
Appointment set on the public folder named "Calendar"
Appointment is set in "User A"'s calendar
Appointment is set in "User B"'s calendar

"User A" has an iphone and the calendar item is even synched to it (life is rockin)

Now "User B" edits the appointment adjusting the time.  (on the public folder)

Here's what happens....

Appointment is set in "User B"'s calendar
Appointment set on the public folder named "Calendar"
"User A" rececieves a message as follows.  "Subject"; User B sent on behalf of User A
(/w text As the meeting organiser you do not need to respond to this message.)

The perceived problem:

"User A"'s calendar is never updated.

The expectation was that "user A"'s calendar would update.  It would almost appear that outlook is prohibiting this from

happening.

The question:

How can we get "User A's" calendar to update.

A silly way to fix this might be just to have the original message created by and edited in the future by a 3rd party or dummy account.  But this would seem silly.

integrating Exchange 2010 OWA login with a CAPTCHA

$

My company developed a Turing test as a replacement for CAPTCHAs. It uses an API very similar to Google's reCaptcha, and has gained some traction.  It's called VouchSafe (www.vouchsafe.com).

I have a potential client who would like to integrate it with a large (over 30K users) Excahnge 2010 OWA deployment to address issues they've been having with brute-force hijacking of accounts.

Ordinarily, this would be a piece of cake, but there doesn't seem to be an existing API or any direct way to hook the controller for the login form.  I've looked around, and the only solution I've found is a silly kludge using AJAX.  That won't work because would-be hackers could simply POST directly to the form URL and bypass the Turing test altogether.

I've had no joy getting any help directly from Microsoft, but I was thinking that someone in the community must have addressed this problem before.  I can't imagine that everyone is simply leaving their login forms vulnerable and open.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can demo to the client as a possible workaround?

Thanks very much,

Chris Ivey

OWA Internal and External URL set correctly, but Internal MS Outlook 2010 Shows External URL

$

Hello everyone. I have searched high and low for this particular issue, and can't find someone with the exact same issue.

Our OWA sites are correctly set. Internally is the local servername.example.com and external is mail1.example.com ..

The issue is for our local computers with Outlook 2010 under File -> Info we see "Access this account on the web" then the external URL. This will not work cause it can't resolve going outside our network and back in.

This appears mostly to be a cosemetic issue, but I wonder if there can be some underlying causes that could point to mis configuration. Just to point out, we have tested the true internal and external URL and both do work.

This is my first post, thank you in advance,

  5. Set the      value of ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled     to1.
  6. Exit      Registry Editor.

And restarted IIS.

But still my users are unable to log on if their passwords have expired.

Exchange server 2010 invalid locale sp3

Since we have updated the exchange server 2010 to SP3 we have a error in the application log:

The Active Directory entry for mailbox ... contains an invalid locale for attribute MsExchUserCulture: nl-NL.

There are a few sites available like this : http://martijnwestera.blogspot.nl/2012/02/installing-exchange-2010-sp2-language.html

They tell you to install an language pack. Only problem is that it is meant for service pack 2 and not 3.

Can you help me?

P.S. Sorry if it is posted in the wrong forum but i cant find exchange server 2010. It only says 2013.
