Unable to access OWA or ECP. - "Something went wrong" or "500 unexpected error"

Our environment consist of 3 client access servers with 8 mailbox servers.  I recently installed windows updates on all of the servers.  Now when a user tries to access OWA it fails and says "Something went wrong" when I try to access ECP I receive "500 unexpected error"

I have tried building a new CAS and mailbox servers with the default settings but it still fails.  I did not install the latest Windows updates on the new servers.  I tried creating new databases with new users and it also fails.

There are also these ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0 warnings showing in the application log:

Unable to connect Outlook to Exchange server externally

Hi,

We have an Exchange 2013 server at one of our customers premises. When using the server on-site you can connect to it with no issues and it works. If you set up a laptop while connected to the network internally, you can then take the laptop off-site and it will still work with no issues.

The problem arises when we are trying to set up Outlook on clients to this server which are external to the organisation. We know the server can be accessed externally, as OWA works, and as previously stated, laptops set up on-premise will still work off-premise as long as they have an internet connection.

We have run an Autodiscover test for this server on the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyser with a valid account and it passes the test with no issues.

When you try to setup the account on the Mail Control Panel, we are getting the error message - "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

This has been working in the past, but has stopped working recently.

Please would someone be able to advise?

Regards,

Simon

Changing Org Wide calendar sharing permissions

Hi

We are about to use the below script to change default calendar permissions for our Organisation.

Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | % {Set-MailboxFolderPermission “$($_.PrimarySmtpAddress):\$($(Get-MailboxFolderStatistics $_.PrimarySmtpAddress |  ? folderType -eq 'calendar').name)” -User Default -AccessRights LimitedDetails}

Is there anyway to modify this script to ensure it is only user mailboxes and not shared mailboxes that are targeted?

Recommended header value length in Exchange 2013

Hi,

Lately one of my clients are not able to send email from OWA with the premium interface. It prompts out error saying, the email can't be sent from external. However in internal the email were able to be sent successfully. Upon hours of troubleshooting, we have identified the Web application firewall is denying the email to be send out due to error on

Header value length exceeded length=714bytes header Auth global

Once, we are able to adjust the value length, then the web application firewall is able to allow the email to be sent in OWA.

I would like to know does Microsoft have any baseline or recommended value for OWA that we can follow and set it to the application firewall so that it does not compromise the security. The bunch of header values are in the below picture

Can help to advise if there any reference from Microsoft on the recommended values for these headers

Regards,

Peter

One User Cannot Connect Via Mobile

I have one user that for some reason cannot connect to their Exchange account on their phone. It allows their user and server information to be input, but then goes back to the 'Add an account' screen and never syncs anything. Normally we would get a popup immediately after adding the server and account info that requires you to set up security and then it connects the account. Each time you try to add the account, an event 4625 is logged even though both the user name and password being used are correct.

I've tried adding the account in both Outlook for Android and in the default Gmail app and neither work. I can add any other user in our organization to either app and they work fine. Exchange ActiveSync and OWA for Devices are both enabled. We're running Exchange 2013 CU 23.

Failed to authenticate over IMAP - "ErrMsg=ProxyNotAuthenticated;LiveIdAR=OK"

Hi,

I am trying to authenticate a user over IMAP and I have several issues.
Before you asked for it:
- I confirm IMAP/POP services are enabled on the mailbox, services are running on all my servers etc...
- I also configure correctly the X509CertificateName with my fqdn: mail.contoso.com
- I checked ports for SSL and unencrypted bindings and it looks fine.
- The LoginType is configured with "SecureLogin"
- The EnableGSSAPIAndNTLMAuth is set to "True"
- Components ImapProxy are active

I can see the following logs for imap4:
2018-02-26T17:19:25.388Z,0000000000000052,5,10.12.58.22:143,10.12.58.168:60469,User.Test,51,27,20,login,user.test *****,"R=""6 NO LOGIN failed."";Msg=Proxy:exdb01.contoso.com:1993:SSL;ErrMsg=ProxyNotAuthenticated;LiveIdAR=OK"

I am really stuck at this point as I already spent 2 days to check all troubleshooting methods I found on differents posts and it didn't solve my problem...
Hence, I would really appreciate your help to troubleshoot further and fix this issue.

You will find below all information regarding my exchange architecture/configuration.
On my side, my exchange environment is split over 4 servers with the same updates and CU 19:

Name                : EXDB01 (Primary DB)
Edition             : Standard
AdminDisplayVersion : Version 15.0 (Build 1365.1)

Name                : EXCAS01 (Primary CAS)

Name                : EXDB02 (Secondary CAS)

My 4 servers have the same result when running Get-ImapSettings:

I created a rule that after I had created was not pointing to the folder I had put in the rule.  So when the rule ran, the emails were moved out of the inbox, but to where?? The target location was apparently not defined and so where are these emails now?

Thanks.

I am using outlook 2013. I bought a new laptop with windows 10 and after downloading my outlook 2013 a guess I did a mistake when trying to connect to our exchange account because now I am stuck. I just cant reset and it will not logon anything. It is just saying

1)

there is no connetion to the exchange server

2)

I can only change ONE thing - that´s my mail adress

3)

And if I press OK og Cancel I get a message about an .ost file which is not supported or correct format or whatever.

I tried to uninstall the hole office pacakage and then install everything again, but this time I did not get even the oppertunity to do any setup - It rememberd all my settings.

Hi, I use windows 10 on a home based computer and don't use any exchange servers (as far as I am aware- single computer) and I am now coming up with the following message - Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed. Can anyone explain why this is happening. Thank you.

Exchange 2013 - Enable OWA Light/Premium

$

How can I enable OWA light and Premium version? In browser it says:

Use the light version of Outlook Web App
This setting has been put in place by your network administrator and can't be changed.

We have Exchange server 2013. Get-OwaMailboxPolicy has following property.

Get-OwaMailboxPolicy | fl Name,PremiumClientEnabled

Name : Default
PremiumClientEnabled : False

and Get-OWAVirtualDirectory:

Get-OWAVirtualDirectory

PremiumClientEnabled : True
LogonPageLightSelectionEnabled : False

I found this below in another blog to run to activate OWA feature.

Get-OWAVirtualDirectory | Set-OWAVirtualDirectory –LogonPageLightSelectionEnabled $true

Should I just run it and IIS reset? Or do I need to do anything else?

Is there any command to activate Premium feature to selected users only or to one mailbox for testing?

Thank you.
