Outlook 2016 freezing up?

$

My Outlook freezes up on me and I can't seem to figure it out.

What happens is after I open Outlook 2016 and wait about 4 or 5 minutes it prompts me for a password. After entering my password it says it again for my password like I didn't enter the right password the first time. Also, if i go and trying to email someone and open up the global address book it crashes as well.

Steps that I have taken so far:

  • Uninstall and reinstall Office 2016
  • Create a new profile under "Mail" in the Control Panel
  • Remove the address book and close and open Outlook again
  • Delete everything in the Credential Manager
  • Run this Powershell command in the Exchange Powershell to repair the mailbox New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox "username" -CorruptionType ProvisionedFolder, SearchFolder, AggregateCounts, Folderview

Outlook Doesn't Connect to server on one computer

I have Outlook set up on 3 computers - two of them connect and send/receive with no problem - the third one constantly comes up with 'The server is not available'. I have checked all the settings and everything looks fine and am at my wits end now - been trying to solve this for the past two days unsuccessfully - am hoping someone might be able to help.

All computers are Windows 10 and are completely up to date as far as updates are concerned

Exchange / Outlook: Display original recipient when reading a message in a Shared Mailbox

We have a Shared Mail Box with several secondary addresses. In Outlook when reading a received email, the TO: field displays the Shared Mailbox primary SMTP address. I do see the original destination SMTP all over in the message header ( externally sent ). Would it be possible to display the original recipient SMTP address in the message display?

Thanks

OOF issue with multiple mailboxes in one Outlook profile

Hello,

We have two separate Exchange 2013 infrastructures one with CU21 and second with CU22 both with the same issue with Out Of Office feature and according to the information in the Internet it is quite common issue. The problem arises when there is more than one mailbox added to the same Outlook profile (using credentials from those mailboxes - not Full Access mailbox permissions). When second (and consequent) mailboxes are linked to the same Outlook profile OOF feature works only on the LAST added mailbox and drops "server is currently unavailable" message when you try to set it up on any of the existing mailboxes. To this moment I can confirm that we checked the following:

1. Autodiscover works fine (as well as all tests from email AutoConfiguration)

2. Proxy settings are being used but if disabled issues persists

3. Certificates/NDS are fully OK - wildcard is used, no issues.

Please advise. Any help is highly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Nikolay

Cannot save Free/Busy information error when dragging items to shared calendars.

One user is having this issue and only with specific shared calendars, not all. Using Outlook 2016 with Exchange 2016.

When she drags an entry from her calendar to certain shared calendars that she manages the gets a popup error that says "Cannot save Free/Busy information. Changes made to the item were lost because of a reconnect with the server."

The items actually do get copied, though.

Anyone know how to resolved this issue?

Thanks

Outlook calendar sync problems

Hi Everyone,

Environment

- Exchange 2013 CU15
- Outlook 2010
- Windows Server 2016 RDS / Citrix
- RES Workspace
- Caching is turned off in Outlook

Problem

Users are experiencing problems with the Outlook calendar. Created appointments sometimes appear after a few minutes in their own calendar. Meetings from collegues cannot be accepted properly. Etc.

Problems do not always occur.

Question

How can I properly troubleshoot and monitor these issues? What's a good way to do this?

I know that the Exchange server needs to be updated, as CU22 has been released earlier this month. Office is going to be upgraded to 2016 in Q1 2020.

Hi All,

Using Exchange 2013 OnPremise, Can anyone please assist me in how to fix the below issue after creating my email accepted domain to Exchange 2013 OnPremise?

My previous PrimarySMTP for all of the users was: First.LastName@OldDomain.com, but then after creating and changing the primary SMTP to the First.Last@domain.com, all of the users globally got the above annoying pop up daily?

Any steps and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Unable to Search for Attachment File Names within Public Folders

$

Exchange 2010 SP3 RU25.  Outlook 2016 (and 2007 as test).  Public Folder searches for "attachment contains" returns no matches when there are matches.  All other searchability in Public Folders seems OK.  I can search "attachment yes or no" and it works.  But if I try to search for the attachment file name or the attachment file contents, I get no results.  Cached or non-cached mode makes no difference.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi.

When user is connected to VPN so he's in LAN at launching Outlook client he/she receives an error bellow:

There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the target site internal-fqdn.
Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server. (error code 10)

We use split-brain-dns.

Even if we point outlook anywhere to the same address the error remains the same.

please advise

Iphone X User has multiple Mobile Device entries in EAC

Hello, There is this 1 user who has 10 out of 11 mobile device entries in EAC, the user is using iphone X. I'm not sure if this is an isolated case for iphone X but I doubt that this user has 10 iphone X on hand..

I extracted his info using the management shell script and most entries are all same except for the Device ID. The Device ID for all 10 entries are unique. Now, how can I identify that those 10 entries is only pointing to 1 iphonex device?

Outlook 2016 clients does not communicate with Exchange 2013 U10

Hi

So it started about 2 weeks ago where I had to delete the temporary roaming and local outlook files of a 3 users (one of them twice) because it wouldn't communicate with the exchange server anymore.

Immediately, after, it started working again.

That until 2 days ago, I was reinstalling a computer and the user that I've just login for the first time couldn't reach the server.

While another user was always offline, I've deleted the roaming and local outlook files and then he couldn't reach the server anymore

And then I got a third person reporting this to me today....possibly after restarting her computer or doing windows updates

Although, for all the other users, about than 10-15, they are still working fine, but I double they would if I would to delete their profile....

Internal and External OWA works fine

Active Sync works fine as well

The issue seem limited to Outlook 2016 clients

I've replace the SSL exchange certificate about 3 months ago and renew all the other one using the ECP Certificates options.

Further more I've deleted and recreated the Microsoft Exchange Server Auth Certificate and set it to SMTP and the Microsoft Exchange certificate and set it to IMAP, POP, IIS, SMTP.  The last one was set in IIS 8.0 Exchange Back End site bindings as default for port 444.

The SLL certificate is also set in IIS Default Website bindings port 443

The virtual directories autodiscover has its authentication set to integrated and basic

If I test the autodiscover using Microsoft connectivity analyser, it works although I get those

1) Attempting to test potential Autodiscover URL https://DOMAIN.com:443/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xmlTesting of this potential Autodiscover URL failed. Testing TCP port 443 on host DOMAIN.com to ensure it's listening and open.

but its normal as it works on https://autodiscover.DOMAIN.com:443/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml

2) Analyzing the certificate chains for compatibility problems with versions of Windows. Potential compatibility problems were identified with some versions of Windows.

So it seems fine to me

If I test the MAPI setting (Test-MAPIConnectivity) in a command line on the exchange shell, it resolves successfully

So when I launch Microsoft Outlook 2016 on the computer I've fully reinstalled from scratch, it resolves first the name of the user, and then when it get to the next step, the second row will show a green check searching for the email address, but will kind of loop again and again for a while, until it ends up with the error message

"The name cannot be resolved.  The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

On the Exchange server, in the eventviewer security tab, I will get the following entry every time:

An account failed to log on.
Subject:
 Security ID:  NULL SID
 Account Name:  -
 Account Domain:  -
 Logon ID:  0x0

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.
The Logon Type field indicates the kind of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).
The Process Information fields indicate which account and process on the system requested the logon.
The Network Information fields indicate where a remote logon request originated. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in some cases.
The authentication information fields provide detailed information about this specific logon request.
 - Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
 - Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
 - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

At this point, I can try to resolve manually the connection by adding all the details for the connection

When I try to do so, i get this entry in the Exchange eventviewer:

An account failed to log on.

One exchange server, two domain controller

I've also made sure the domain controller were accepting the NTLM connection, but they were set as not configure in the GPO so it was ok http://www.adnsolutions.com/outlook-clients-not-authenticating-but-owa-and-activesync-work-fine/

I've tested lots of stuff over and over again playing with the certificate, IIS, autodiscover etc...

At some point, if I was to stop the default IIS server, Outlook wouldn't communicate with the server, although, having the back end running or stopped in IIS had no effect... dunno if that leads to anything

I'm wondering if this doesn't have something to do with the latest updates.... which it did somewhere 2-3 weeks ago....they weren't many and they didn't feel to have much impact....

Any input would be appreciate because so far it makes no sense...

Thanks

Some Outlook Clients Not Connecting to Exchange (Autodiscover)

$

I have some outlook clients (Outlook 2013) not connecting to Exchange 2013 via Autodiscover. I have compared wireshark packets and believe it has something to do with responses. Both Clients are exactly the same with Windows 10 version 1607, both are on the same client switch, both have identical network settings (subnet, gateway, dns), both have the same outlook, and both are pulling the same Group Policies.

What is happening is when I try to configure Outook it tries to connect via encrypted connection then fails and try's to go unencrypted.

I have compared wireshark from a working client and a non working client and below is the results:

Working Computer Wireshark DNS entries:

-Standard query A autodiscover.mail.XXX

-Standard query response A autodiscover.mail.XXX A (IP 123.123.123.123)

-Standard query A mail.XXX

-Standard query response A mail.XXX SOA FQDN-XXXXXXX

-Standard query A smtp.mail.XXX

-Standard query response A smtp.mail.XXX A (IP 345.345.345.345)

-Standard query A MAILSERVER.MAIL.XXX

-Standard query response A MAILSERVER.MAIL.XXX 789.789.789.789(IP of mailserver)

The above looks like it goes through the autodiscover process and eventually provides the mail server IP

NON-WORKING Client DNS entires:

-Standard query A autodiscover.mail.XXX

-Standard query A smtp.mail.XXX

-Standard query response A autodiscover.mail.XXX A (IP 123.123.123.123)

-Standard query response A smpt.mail.XXX A (IP 345.345.345.345)

The above queries repeat and no further dns queries happen and finally the queries stop. This is when I assume that the OUTLOOK connection box stops and tells me that it could not make an encrypted connection, do I want to try unencrypted.

Based on the above it looks like it is not giving me the query for the Mailserver.mail.XXX query which is the actual IP of the server I need to connect with.

Is this a setting in windows that I am missing? I compared group policy results and they are exactly the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

AD Contact photos not showing in OWA reading pane

HI Everyone,

We've added employee photos to AD. They are showing in Outlook 2016 and 2013 but not in OWA. If I click on People, then All Users, some photos show but not all. No photos show when you open a message.

Photos are turned on in the OWA policy and the Virtual policy.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Travis

Internal contact pictures dont show in online Outlook 2013 but do in 2016

Hi All,

We've recently added our employee photos to AD. If users have Outlook 2016 the contact photos show up on the e-mails as they should. If the user has Outlook 2013, the photos only show when the user is disconnected from Exchange. In work Offline mode and connected the photos don't show.

The AD attribute and what Exchange has matches for each user.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Travis

Opening attachments with OWA (Outlook Web Access) using Firefox logs you out

I use Outlook Web Access to view my email on a Firefox browser on a macbook. Whenever I download an attachment, I am logged out of the mail view and taken to a 'Create free account / Sign In' screen. It seems that the OWA team haven't properly tested that downloading attachments works correctly using a firefox web browser.
