Outlook Hangs after migration to Exchange 2013

Hi,

in one organization two domains A and B. A - Exchange 2010 and B - Exchange 2013. Migration from A to B by Cross-Forest

On users PC used outlook 2010. After migration, i remove outlook profile (control panel - mail - manage profile), and create new. Setting set up automatically, and everything is going well.

When the user run outlook, it comes blank and hangs, and not responds, only kill process help. like no coonection to server.

Then I go control panel - software - outlook - Restore, reboot - and then outlook start and user can connect to server well. But in the organization of more than 1,000 members, and all migrated user have this problem.

I try, run safe mode 1 or 3, remove profile by regedit, no luck :(

Greetings and salutations all. At a customer site, I am experiencing something weird in Outlook.

They are running Outlook 2013 on Exchange 2013. Using both thick and thin clients. Thins clients are running in a Citrix VDI environment. The settings for Outlook in the VDI environment is to download only one month of emails.

When the following are tru, the hyperlink for accessing the older emails directly from the server is missing. Only the text "Connect to the server to view them" is shown:

1. Shared mailbox added as an additional account to the outlook profile

When the following is true, the hyperlink for accessing the older emails directly from the server is present:

1. No shared mailbox added or shared mailbox added via automapping...

Has anyone else experienced this? I have tested this on several users, and the moment a shared mailbox is added to the Outlook profile, the link for accessing older emails is missing (only the text "Connect to the server to view them" is shown).

Bear in mind, we can not move away from adding the shared mailboxes as additional accounts as the autmapping feature will really not work as we are using groups to give people access to the shared mailboxes.

P.S.: The same behaviour has been reproduced on Outlook 2016/Office 365...

Hi,

I have been investigating an issue with a user who has access to a shared mailbox.

A little about the environment:

  • Exchange 365 in Hybrid environment with on premise Exchange 2013
  • Outlook 2016 on Windows 7 using 365 business license

A little about the issue:

  • When opening Outlook, user is sometimes (most of the time) unable to open the shared mailbox she has full access to. Error received stating 'Unable to open folder'. Error logged in event viewer:

Microsoft Outlook 
Cannot expand the folder. 
300187 
16.0.7167.2040 

  • Sometimes the user can get it to open by opening and closing Outlook however this does not always work.
  • The users mailbox works fine, can send and receive mail with no issue.
  • I can replicate this issue by adding a different user to the full access permissions and send as permissions and allowing the mailbox to auto map to their outlook profile. This particular example was Outlook 2016 on Windows 10.
  • In 365 logs I can see the mailbox authenticating - PasswordLogonInitialAuthUsingPassword 

I'm in the process of testing in Outlook 2016 for Mac. Will post an update.

Unable to load OWA and ECP URL

Greetings,

I have Exchange 2013 CU7 Installed and was working properly without any issues.

Recently, i renewed the SSL UC Certificate. And right after renewal, I am not able to OWA and ECP internally and externally.

It looks like there is some IIS issue. As if i am trying to browse the Internal URL https://localhost/ecp

it redirects to too many redirects and failed.

Have upgraded the Exchange to CU12 and reconfigured virtual directories but issue still remains same

Please suggest the fix.

Everytime I start Outlook 2013, my rules in OWA get re-ordered: Rules that only appear in OWA move to the bottom

Some of my rules only appear in OWA (in Outlook it says "There are rules created with a different version of Outlook or Outlook Web Access that are not shown").

That's OK since i don't want to manage my rules from Outlook at all- I prefer OWA for that so that my rules will be applied even if i use some other mobile client.

The problem is that every time i start outlook, it re-orders my rules so that the rules only OWA knows, move to the bottom of the list (as seen in OWA).

My rules depend on the order...

How do i get this mess fixed?

Outlook 2016 - Autodiscover in multi tenant environment not working for one domain

We have recently found a problem at one of our customers regarding their email account placed in our hosting environment.

They have outlook 2016 on their windows 10 computers, when trying to start outlook it say "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list"

During the installation process it asks for the certificate and username/password so it can fully find the autodiscover for that domain, but after restarting the outlook it always give us the error message.

If we do this from a outlook 2013 it works smooth. I can also add it to outlook 2013 and upgrade to outlook 2016, at least on the windows 7.

On the clients I have tried to add the registry settings and tips from this articles

We also tried to add the account in 2013, upgrade to 2016 and migrate the registry settings to the windows 10 computer, but then everything got messed up on the client.

As said the autodiscover part works fine, there is an dns record added for the autodiscover domain we have for our hosting customers.

This domain is the only one that we can't seem to get working on outlook 2016 after digging around we can't seem to get any closer to the solution either.

So hopefully there is someone of you that has good questions and suggestion for what we can do to fix this.

Populate Business 2 phone number from active directory

I was trying to populate Business 2 phone number in the address book from the active directory, I have read that if I added additional phone number in the general page it will do the work but it didn't work for me.

either this or if some one can help me changing the "Home" number display name like instead of showing it as "Home" I want it to be "Direct Line

Exchange 2013 OWA blank page, ECP works

I'm running Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 server.

Today exchange decided to show a blank page after login to owa. ECP works ok.

OWA does work with Internet Explorer but not with Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Ecp works with all tested browsers.

Checked certificates bindings on "Default Web Site" and "Exchange Back End", all ok. Recycled MSExchangeOWAAppPool and removed OWA virtualdirectory and recreated it again. Server rebooted after every change. Still OWA shows a blank page. Eventlogs do not show any obvious errors why things should not work.

I'm stumped. Anyone got any ideas what to try?

can any one suggest me how to take care of my cas and mailbox iis default web site settings backup required to keep a side for DR and how i can restore the settings on another server if my one of server hardware in problem.

Please suggest the same.

WebReady Document Viewing - Still have Download All link

We are having a problem with users downloading confidential information to shared computers.  I have gone into the Exchange Admin Center and created a policy called "Attachments" and I am testing it. What I want to do is prevent users from downloading attachments on public or private computers but allow them to view them. That seems to be working (sort of). I have enabled "WebReady Document viewing" and disabled "direct file access".  My test users with this policy applied are getting popup "This attachment must be viewed in the browser before it can be downloaded" when they click directly on the attachment.  If they hover over the attachment they get a link " Open in Browser".  There is also a"Download all" link under the attachment(s) that shows.  What I would like to do is

  1. I'd like to get rid of that pop up.  I'd like to have it so when a user clicks on a icon for a attachment it opens up in the browser window without the popup or having to have to over for the link.
  2. I would like to get rid of that download all link since I have disabled direct access.  When they click that all they get is a blank tab.

I'd like some suggestions on how to accomplish this. Training 1000 users to hover to get the Open in Browser link and don't click "download all" because you can't download anyway is not a great option.

Outlook 2013 cannot start outlook

Suddenly some users cannot open Outlook 2013 anymore to connect to their mailboxes.

Other users have no problems at all while using the same Exchange 2013 server.

When i start outlook.exe /rpcdiag only connection CID 5 and CID 11 are made and the error message pops up that Microsoft Outlook cannot start. 

"cannot start microsoft outlook. cannot open the outlook window. the set of folders cannot be opened"

After multiple tries Outlook will start and when i check /rpcdiag more connections are made.

The user has multiple shared mailboxes connected. 

Please help.



Outlook cached mode on VDI

Is there any possibility to give any bad effect on performance if use cached mode of

outlook on VDI like VMware and Citrix, not online mode? Please give me technical site described

Outlook 2016 - Exchange 2013 Connectivity Issue

Hello everybody!

I got a strange connectivity issue with one specific user. Upon starting Outlook 2016 it asks if an email account should be created. Autodiscover triggers and resolves user name and email correctly.

Access via OWA runs flawlessly.

Access via iPhone runs flawlessly.

(sry for german)

Clicking next, I keep running into this error:

(again sorry for german, it says: "No connection to Microsoft Exchange available. Outlook has to be in online mode or connected to finish this process")

Again: all other means of access work flawlessly. Autodiscover works for every user, too.

Anybody got an idea? Much appreciated!

Exchange 2013 Wildcard Certificate

Hi,

I am using Exchange Server 2013 CU10

2* MailBox Server using the Exchange Server 2013 CU10 (DAG is configured on these) 

2* CAS Server using the Exchange Server 2013 CU10, NLB is configured on it.

I am currently using digicert Wild Card certificate, the said certificate has been assigned to IIS and SMTP successfully.

But not able to assinged the IMAP and POP. screenshot is given below,

How i can assign the said certificate to the IMAP and POP please.

Imap Just stopped 4 days ago and I do not know why.

last Thursday evening the logs show that connecting (internal url) with imap just stop.
when I run the test-imapconnectivty cmdlet it get something strange..

What in the heck do I do with "IMAP Error:" ? no error is specified.

In my outlook account, I did receive a test message from this test.

When I also telnet to the ip or fqdn(internal) on 143, I do not get a header response..just a blank screen.
Any care to share?


Outlook 2016 connection from Internet keeps loosing connection to Exchange 2013 Server

Hi,

I connect to my outlook-account on our company exchange server 2013 both from the office and from 2 devices at home. on both devices at home I can open outlook and will receive mails for some time. Then after a couple of minutes outlook will stop synchronizing and say that the exchange server cannot be reached. At the same time OWA can be reached and is working fine, though. Closing and re-opening outlook sometimes solves the problem, but not always.

any ideas how I could debug this? AutoDiscover seems to work fine.

I get this message on every message I send to one email address.  It worked fine until 2 days ago.  I deleted the nickname and that didn't make a difference.  I have confirmed the email address is typed correctly.  I have confirmed with the recipient and their yahoo.com postmaster that my address is not blocked by them.  It happens on more than one computer but mobile delivers.  All I get is this:

Hi All,

I have an postfix MTA which work fine however when I send an e-mail to an exhange sever or outlook.com the email arrive to the junk instead the inbox. When I send same e-mail to gmail.com it arrives to inbox. Why this mail arrive to junk at MS? How can I prevet to put MS into junk. I can change the configuration of MTA only. I can not change the receiving party of the e-mail communication (MDA).

Any advice welcomed!

"Your mailbox has been temporarily moved" error

Hi

I've had a read around Google and found a fair few people asking this but all slightly different questions.

I have a user who connects to their emails via a local computer using Outlook program on Windows 10. The user is receiving the message above with the three options to use the temporary mailbox but lose old emails, collect old emails but lose the ability to send, or cancel. So far the user is clicking cancel and has access to all previous emails and can still send - best of both worlds. But the error message occasionally keeps popping back up.

We use Office 365 and from the admin view the user's mailbox is intact and licensed. We performed a repair on the mailbox but that made no difference. We renamed the .ost file and reopened Outlook so that it would recreate the .ost file and the error message came straight back.

We haven't recently migrated and no one else is having problems.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
