Mailtips Error - Outlook 2016

$

0

We have several users that are connecting to our exchange 2013 server using outlook 2016.  It seems that many of them get an error related to mailtips not being displayed.  Something along the lines of "We can't show MailTips right now". Other features of outlook that rely on EWS seem to be working properly, OOF, Free/Busy are both working.

I can create a profile for the same user on Outlook 2013 and I do not get the error message about mailtips not being available.

I've run connectivity tests from the remote connectivity test, and those all pass.  I've also compared the results from the autocongfiguration tests for both outlook 2013 and outlook 2016 and they are identical.

Mailtips are enabled at the organization level (they work for outlook 2013).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Weird Outlook Autodiscover issues

Going bald on this one.

- Windows Server 2012 R2
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 SP1 CU12
- Outlook 2007/2010/2013/2016
- Behind a Cisco Firewall

Our set-up is 2 Domain controllers and 2 Exchange 2013 servers.

While I'm on a PC outside of the network that is not joined to my company domain, I try and create a new outlook profile and set up my mail account in Outlook. I get the error "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" when trying to autodiscover the settings. This is affecting all users.

I've looked at most of the obvious stuff:

- Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer and Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer Tool finds no issues
- "Hide name from address list" option is unchecked in ECP
- DC's are in sync
- The Global Address List appears to be fully populated
- In the "Attribute Editor" section of the user account in Active Directory, the "showInAddressBook" attribute looks correct and lists the default global address list
- I deleted the entire %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook folder and deleted all profiles, and cached credentials on the client. I also tried it on several different PCs, none of them worked. Account that were already set-up continue to work.

This USED to work, about a couple of months ago when I set up the servers I was able to connect fine. Something changed between then and now. Any idea this might be?

For some reason a Windows 7 machine with Office 2013, without the most recent patches works

Outlook connection not working since transferring old email

Hi Everyone,

One of our customers can setup their Outlook to the Exchange server anymore.
It was working since we set-up a clean environment for them, but after importing their Exchange 2003 email into their new mailboxes on Exchange 2013, the outlook configuration is not working anymore.

Client which were already configured are still working, but configuring a new outlook client does not work.
Once it passed the first two steps, it tries to log on and gives me the error "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" is the error

I tried the following:
Created a new user in another AD OU - not working
Created a new user on another database - not working
Created a new user on another database & OU - not working
Removed all address lists/policies & in combination with above steps - not working
Re-checked the autodiscover settings in Exchange and on our Nameservers

Autodiscover is tested with the microsoft connectivity tool, no errors detected.

"Your mailbox has been temporarily moved" error

Hi

I've had a read around Google and found a fair few people asking this but all slightly different questions.

I have a user who connects to their emails via a local computer using Outlook program on Windows 10. The user is receiving the message above with the three options to use the temporary mailbox but lose old emails, collect old emails but lose the ability to send, or cancel. So far the user is clicking cancel and has access to all previous emails and can still send - best of both worlds. But the error message occasionally keeps popping back up.

We use Office 365 and from the admin view the user's mailbox is intact and licensed. We performed a repair on the mailbox but that made no difference. We renamed the .ost file and reopened Outlook so that it would recreate the .ost file and the error message came straight back.

We haven't recently migrated and no one else is having problems.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Test Exchange Connectivity - why is it pinging the wrong server?

When I run the Outlook Connectivity test using the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyser it passes every test until the final one: 'Testing the MAPI Address Book endpoint on the Exchange Server'. It appears to ping one of our Domain Controllers rather than the Exchange server. Is that why it's failing? If so, what setting do I change to make it ping the Exchange server instead?

Here's a snip from the final part of the test:

Office 365, Exchange 2013, Public Folder access

Hey team,

I'm scratching my head on this. Currently some users have trouble accessing Public Folders. Not all users are affected. User working in Outlook for the morning, and after a couple hours some Public Folders will give the "Cannot display the folder" error. Most other Public Folders continue to work. I put this down to the affected PF existing on a different PF mailbox, but unsure on anything else past this. PF Client Permissions haven't changed. I usually ask them to restart Outlook, sometimes it helps, most times it doesn't. Logout/login to Windows corrects this, but again only for some time. I've also tried redoing the Outlook profile via these steps.

  • Close Outlook
  • Close Skype for Business
  • Control Panel > Mail > Profiles > Remove
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook - delete all files
  • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook - delete all files
  • REGEDIT - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles - delete profile key
  • REGEDIT - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Profiles - delete profile key
  • Relaunch Outlook, give profile a name, complete setup

Environment:
DNS: autodiscover points to OnPrem Exchange
EX1: Exchange 2013, Mbx+Cas, AdminDisplayVersion Version 15.0 (Build 1178.4).
EX2: Exchange 2013, Cas, AdminDisplayVersion Version 15.0 (Build 1178.4).
Exchange Online via Office 365.
Employee mailboxes migrated and licensed with E3.
Public Folders via Ex13 mailboxes onprem, Exchange Online configured via PowerShell for Remote PF.
Example Client: Outlook 2013 x86 15.0.4859.1000, Windows 8.1 x64, on internal LAN.
Group Policy setting registry for EnableADAL for 'Modern Auth' - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/32711.exchange-online-how-to-enable-your-tenant-for-modern-authentication.aspx

I'm suspecting some authentication configuration issues somewhere, such as Autodiscover or Outlook Anywhere. But then I think that would affect multiple or all people, which it doesn't. I'd like to check all of this to ensure my config is set properly for my environment.

Any PowerShell outputs I can give, let me know.

Creating Calendar. Free/Busy Options.

I just created a new calendar in my Exchange Account. When I click on the Calendar Permissions on the NEW calendar I don't see the Free/Busy time options on the READ Box.

I do not have the options in the READ box to show the Free/Busy time, as I do on the default calendar. I create different calendar for different work environments. I like to share my calendar but I would only like to show Free/Busy times, not the complete subjects of the appointments.

The default calendar does show these options, but every other calendar that I create does not have these options.

How do I get to show Free/Busy time on all calendars I create?

OWA has errors when users change passwords and immediately sign in

$

Hi all,

I've gotten Exchange Server 2013 CU5 running on Windows Server 2012 R2. It has the CAS and Mailbox roles running on it and its sitting behind a Forefront TMG 2010 that is on Windows Server 2012 R2 as well. When our remote users use OWA (Outlook Web App) its fine.  However, because of our policies, those users have to change there passwords.

When those users go to OWA to change there passwords, it changes just fine. Then the Outlook Web App screen comes up, wanting them to sign back into OWA using their new password. When they use the new password to sign in, they always get the (HTTP 400 Bad Request) error, and the URL at this point shows https://MyMailboxServer.com/owa/auth.owa . When the user deletes the last part of that URL (/auth.owa) and then presses ENTER, it completes and goes into the mailbox every time.

Another thing that works is that instead of removing the last part of the URL (/auth.owa), if the user goes and clears the browser cache, close the browser, then open it up again and navigate to OWA and sign in.  It works that way as well...

This issue affect of our remote users in the United States who exclusively use OWA and the clients they have are a mix between Win7, Win8 and Win10 machines with some being domain joined over Direct Access while others aren't domain joined.

Can anyone help figure out why /auth.owa needs to be removed or browser cache needs to be cleared before the user can sign in using their new password?

Meeting organizer does not receive the meeting forward notifcation

This is happening on Outlook 2013:

In one instance when I try with user A: They fail to get the "Your meeting was forwarded" email . But they get the email saying that the person I forwarded the invitation to accepted.

When I try with user B: They don't get squat.

When I try with user C: They get the forwarded email but not the accepted email.

In all 3 instances the user is right clicking on the accepted event on their calendar and they click on "Forward" to send it to the user they need.

Any help would be appreciated.

iOS OWA fails after password change using Outlook in Office 365

Using OWA on ipad running latest iOS.  Outlook is in office365 running hybrid mode with our on premises exchange 2010/AD 2010

When I change my password, OWA for ipad stupidly just continuously fails to connect.  No prompt for a password, nothing.  there's no setting I can see to re-enter credentials, so I'm forced to go into the application settings and wipe everything.  once that's been done and I re-enter my details everything works as it should until my next password change.

Nobody else seems to be complaining about this though?  Is it just us?

As is, it's not an experience I can recommend to our general population!

additional: seems this is not just OWA for iPad.  standard iPad email seemed to do it last time too.

Sending Group E-mails

$

After having trouble with Windows Live Mail and Hotmail IMAP, I changed to WLM and Hotmail to POP because I couldn’t get the folders to match with Hotmail.

One my WLM folders was deleted as it was a duplicate of another folder. I tried putting it back, but it didn't work.  I couldn't make my Hotmail account folder match my WLM IMAP folders.  Therefore, when I refreshed WLM, it would give me an error and would not retrieve my e-mails.  Then, when I tried to make them match, my e-mails were deleted.

After making this change to POP, I cannot send group or forward group messages in WLM, Hotmail account any longer. I get the following error:

All the recipient addresses seem to be correct.  I have used them many times without any problem.  I don’t know why this started now.

I have tried sending it to myself.  When I send this e-mail, the sender’s name returns “<My Name ??”  I also don’t know what this means.

And, when I send a message it seems to go into a black hole somewhere; or, it received with two questions marks (“username ??”).

Finally, when I boot my computer, I now have to login every time.

I went to ‘netplwiz’ and the box is unchecked, requiring me enter a login password.  In addition, when it tries to boot up with the password, I get an error that the password is incorrect and have to enter the correct login password.

I cannot seem find what is generating these errors or where to make changes.

I was going to uninstall Windows Essentials, but I don't believe that would correct my folder problem since Hotmail don’t match WLM.

Changing to POP to get my e-mails correctly has caused me a nightmare because this is my main e-mail address.

I cannot seem find what is generating these problem.

Any workable solution would really be appreciated.

Exchange 2013 How to add additional Outlook Profile??

$

Hi,

We are running Exchange 2013, there are Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010 users.

Few questions:

1. In Mail > Account Settings > when we click on the existing Outlook profile. Why is the Server settings' greyed out?

and instead of server name, it is showing some sort of numbers @domain.com?

2. Also, how can we go about adding a second Outlook profile in this scenario?

Thank you

Outlook connecting to cas array in multiple site

$

Hi People,

my customer has following exchange infrastructure:

2 Sites (Site-A and Site-B), 2 DAGs (DAG-A and DAG-B) , 2 CAS Arrays (CAS-A and CAS-B) , 8 Exchange Server 2010 SP3CU8 (4 per site), 2 Kemp HW load balancers per site in Cluster. Autodiscover has been configured for Site-A (pointing to Kemp LB on same ip and port as for owa configured).

All servers are multi-role (no UM). We have no access from internet. Everything works fine! My only issue are the traveller and home Office users who get connection per VPN to Site-A.

User1 has his Mailbox on Site-B. Outlook 2010 is configured by starting without problems. If user1 comes to Site-A with his own notebook, it works properly. If he logs on to other workstation it is a trouble. Outlook has CAS-A as server and the user has after 10 minutes timeout. And now the workaround: If I open internet explorer and enter mail-b.domain.com/owa (pointing Kemp LB to Site-B) during outlook is configuring the profile, the process continues immediately by finding CAS-B and resolving the user name! Afterwards, everything works. Some users told me they have the problem on the same workstation or laptop now and then. They resolve the problem with mentioned workaround. By the way, they don't need logging on to mail-b.domain.com/owa, just entering the url in IE works! I don't like this workaround.

I hope that anyone has an idea before I start comprehensive troubleshooting and so on:) Thanks in advance.

Hello.

I tried to change public certificate instead old which almost expired. After enabling new certificate via Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services IIS OWA stops working normally. After entering correct login and password user forwarded to login page and didn't see his mailbox. When user entered wrong credential logon page works normally and show message about wrong credentials. Other Web services like  EWS, MAPI, ActiveSync, Autodiscover etc still working. Restart IIS service doesn't help. This issue repeated on every server where i enabled certificate .

Please help me to understood how resolve this issue.

error message on OL2010 "problem with proxy Certificate (80000000)"

Hi

I have a problem since a couple of month with following message that some Outlook 2010 Users have occasionally:
There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate, <CAS-Array>. Outlook is unable to connect to this server. (80000000)
If i checked the connections if the message come up. Outlook works fine and all connections are ok. I have tried to enable Outlook Logging but i found no hint about the message.
I checked the KB: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/923575
Our enviroment is a 2013 CU11 4-Node Multirole DAG. All clients (only Outlook 2010) are patched with the last Updates. We have no PF since we migrated from 2010 last year. The Cas-Array was load-balenced about a F5 V11. Our Certificates comes from a internal Enterprise CA.

I also enabled Outlook logging but i did't found something.

The big Problem for me is that the Message comes very rarly.

Thanks for any assistance!

Florian
