When I clicked on ost file and nothing. How to open it?

I decided to go ahead this morning and set up Outlook 2013 this morning.
When I clicked on it, it came up with this message:
"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Users\XXX\AppData\local\Microsoft\Outlook\XXX_m sn.ost cannot be opened."
I looked the file is there, and Outlook '07 works just fine. All of the other O365 programs work great, no problems.
How do I open ost file?

How to save a copy of the sent e-mail in the sender’s mailbox and also save in the shared mailbox when email sent via shared email

After adding  DelegateSentItemsStyle value to 1,  sent email goes to only to the shared inbox and not on sender's sent items.

Outlook Version: 2010

Outlook outgoing emails sit in Outbox and I'm unaware they haven't been sent. Is there a way to get notified?

Hi 

I work on support issues that require timely responses. When using Outlook, I sometimes find that even though connected, emails I "send" end up sitting in the Outbox and I'm unaware of this assuming they've been sent. 

When I notice this, I have to close Outlook and reopen it, even though I'm receiving emails and am connected to Exchange. Of course until I do notice that my emails are in fact not going out, I look unresponsive which is not ideal. 

Is there a way to get notified when emails are not being sent promptly?  (yes, the option to send immediately is set and that is the normal behavior).

Shared calendars outlook 2010

Hi Guys,

I wonder if you can help me, At work we share our calendars with everybody else in our department. The bosses have decided to create project teams do do certain tasks at certain times in the working week. Putting each project teams calendars into groups is easy but what I want to do is specify certain dates and times for each project group so that when I click on a project group of calendars it only displays the days and times when the people in the team are actually working on the project. For example team1 works on their project from 15.00 to 17.00 mondays and tuesdays, while team 2 works wednesdays and fridays from 17.00 to 19.00 etc. The other stipulation is that people must be able to edit the calendars to add/delete tasks into 15 min time slots within these hours.

I guess the only way is to use the SQL tab under the filter setting in view settings then save it as aspecific view associated with each group, but how and what command do I use.

If someone could help me on this it would be much appreciated

My laptop had a crash several months ago, and I finally have it mostly working. I really just want to get the Outlook data off of it and move on to a new PC. My knowledge is limited as I am not a teckie like most of you guys probably are. I thought I could find the PST file and copy it off. No luck. I have tried to open Outlook 2013 and do a backup but I cannot get it open. I am getting the message above. 

Everything I am doing with my laptop is self contained, meaning I am not on a server environment; just me. Can anyone send me a link to a solution and provide any advice for me to get my critical Outlook file off of this thing?

Issues with my microsoft outlook

Hi,

I am a systems administrator and i have issues with my outlook. When i search for a mail, it searches which takes forever then my outlook ends up hanging.

Secondly i could be sending a mail then all of a sudden my outlook hangs unexpectedly and i have to use taskmanager to forcefully end the task.

Please i would appreciate if i can get advice from anyone with similar experience.

Meeting attendee gets meeting responses (2)

I have a frustrating issue in the office that can be illustrated as follows:


Person A is the meeting organizer
Person B receives the meeting request from Person A and responds by accepting or declining
Person C receives the meeting request from Person A and responds by accepting or declining
Person A gets the meeting responses from Person B and Person C
Person B gets the meeting response from person C ?? :confused:

There is no sharing of mailboxes or calendar (as far as I know)
There is no delegate access settings (that allow send-on-behalf-of permissions) between Person A and Person B

Does anyone have any ideas why Person B is getting responses to meetings that belong to Person A
Any advice or bright ideas will be welcomed as I am dumbstruck?!

Hi All ;

We are in the middle of a migration Project but we stuck with this pop3 setting. Most of the mailboxes uses pop3 to connect Exchange 2010 with the setting spa + port 110 on the client side. We want to give same authentication options for the pop3 settings on 2013 side but when spa is selected the pop3 rejects the connection with the following error.

Your e-mail server rejected your login with SPA.

So both settings for pop3 protocol is same but the client cannot connect from 2013 server.

Where can i enable this feature from Exchange 2013 .

Exchange POP Connector

Hi,

We are a small business of just 14 employees. 

Currently we work using a server running SBS 2003 and want to shift to a newer suitable server version with exchange features.

Is the POP connector available in the 2012 R2 ?

Currently our emails are under hosted mailbox and then downloaded to our server using POP connector and then distributed by the exchange server in the local network 

Is this feature available in the Server 2012 R2 version ? Can OWA we enabled while maintaining the same mail distribution ?

If so, what version of 2012 R2 is suitable ?

HI All,

I have 4 Exchange 2013 CU 5 CAS Servers, 3 of the EXCH Server are behind Load Balancer and one is not. since yesterday, I am getting periodic alerts for

OWA.Protocol.Dep health set unhealthy (WacDiscoveryFailureEventMonitor/OWA.Protocol.Dep) - Wac Discovery failed, users wont be able to preview their attachments in Wac.

When i run the command Get-ServerHealth -Identity 'SERVERNAME' -HealthSet 'OWA.Protocol.Dep'. it shows me unhealthy. after couple of hours it resolve it self and later few hours it comes back.

can someone tell me what is being monitored by this?

Need help with syncing Outlook across computers

Our office is set up with one email address that we all share as an Exchange account. However each Outlook will not sync the emails correctly. 

If I delete an email, other people in the office still see it on their Outlook. 

Is there a way to fix this?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi all,

We are upgrading Exchange System from 2007 to 2013. Most of user mailboxes uses POP3/IMAP plaintextlogin (port 110/143) with setting "Require Logon Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" to check email. Everything is good with the settings on Exchange 2007. But on Exchange 2013 system, we cannot use the settings, users cannot check email with SPA on POP 110 or IMAP 143. If we use SPA on POP 995 SSL or IMAP 993 SSL, everything is ok.

Any config we should do on exchange 2013 system to resolve this issue? We cannot change this settings on all outlook clients.

Cannot edit contacts in Outlook 2016 running in Office 365 environment

I am working on my 2nd new Surface book with fully up-to-date updates.  I have Office 365 Business and am running outlook 2016.  When I want add a contact by right clicking on the senders address, I am unable to edit or add any information to the contact dialogue box that comes up.  It appears that if I just save just the email in the contact (since I am not able to manually add anything else,) and then view the saved contacts in Business Card view, I can click on the business card and then am able to edit it.  This takes several extra steps and seems REALLY stupid--what's up with this Microsoft?

Outlook 2016/Hybrid 365/2013 Exchange - Unable to open shared mailbox

Hi,

I have been investigating an issue with a user who has access to a shared mailbox.

A little about the environment:

  • Exchange 365 in Hybrid environment with on premise Exchange 2013
  • Outlook 2016 on Windows 7 using 365 business license

A little about the issue:

  • When opening Outlook, user is sometimes (most of the time) unable to open the shared mailbox she has full access to. Error received stating 'Unable to open folder'. Error logged in event viewer:

Microsoft Outlook 
Cannot expand the folder. 
300187 
16.0.7167.2040 

  • Sometimes the user can get it to open by opening and closing Outlook however this does not always work.
  • The users mailbox works fine, can send and receive mail with no issue.
  • I can replicate this issue by adding a different user to the full access permissions and send as permissions and allowing the mailbox to auto map to their outlook profile. This particular example was Outlook 2016 on Windows 10.
  • In 365 logs I can see the mailbox authenticating - PasswordLogonInitialAuthUsingPassword 

I'm in the process of testing in Outlook 2016 for Mac. Will post an update.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Outlook 2016 and seem to have lost all emails from the last 2 months. I can see them in Mail but not Outlook. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook connecting to cas array in multiple site

Hi People,

my customer has following exchange infrastructure:

2 Sites (Site-A and Site-B), 2 DAGs (DAG-A and DAG-B) , 2 CAS Arrays (CAS-A and CAS-B) , 8 Exchange Server 2010 SP3CU8 (4 per site), 2 Kemp HW load balancers per site in Cluster. Autodiscover has been configured for Site-A (pointing to Kemp LB on same ip and port as for owa configured).

All servers are multi-role (no UM). We have no access from internet. Everything works fine! My only issue are the traveller and home Office users who get connection per VPN to Site-A.

User1 has his Mailbox on Site-B. Outlook 2010 is configured by starting without problems. If user1 comes to Site-A with his own notebook, it works properly. If he logs on to other workstation it is a trouble. Outlook has CAS-A as server and the user has after 10 minutes timeout. And now the workaround: If I open internet explorer and enter mail-b.domain.com/owa (pointing Kemp LB to Site-B) during outlook is configuring the profile, the process continues immediately by finding CAS-B and resolving the user name! Afterwards, everything works. Some users told me they have the problem on the same workstation or laptop now and then. They resolve the problem with mentioned workaround. By the way, they don't need logging on to mail-b.domain.com/owa, just entering the url in IE works! I don't like this workaround.

I hope that anyone has an idea before I start comprehensive troubleshooting and so on:) Thanks in advance.

Outlook Autodiscover not working in a Resource forest Exchange Environment

Hi,

We are facing a problem in autodiscover from outlook client.

We have a resource domain where the Exchange is situated. We have more than 10 different domains connecting to this exchange server. One new addition is facing this autodiscover problem.

We have SRV record already setup in the Resource domain for the Autodiscover record. From the user domain we receive correct response from the NSlookup.

When we connect to the Autodiscover XML from IE, it returns Error Code 600, which seems to be correct.

If we setup the Outlook manually by extracting the GUID for the user mailbox and using that, the Outlook 2013 connects.

But the Autodiscover does not work.

If we check the Autodiscover connection then it redirects to the correct CAS array but then it gets timed out.

Then it says that SRV record lookup fails.

The autodiscover is working for all other domains which we configured are working prefectly.

We are connecting through a VDI and this Autodiscover is happening through WAN. In all the other regions the autodiscover is through LAN . 

Would really appreciate of I get any pointers to get more clue on this.

sharing calendars and new categories

I have set up a calendar and changed the categories to suit the business. When I have shared the calendar for others to see and contribute to the calendar, the new categories are not there only the original coloured categories. Is this possible to share and transfer new categories?

Error " Microsoft Exchange Sending reported error 0x80040115"

Everone on our domain is receving error message 0x80040115 when trying to connect to the Exchange Server using Outlook 2013. We are able to to get email via the website. This was working fine for the past few months then one day everyone got this message.  I have checked to see if an update was installed near the time of the failure but there were none. What else could cause this problem and what needs to be done to correct it?
