Unable to access Contact Folder

My boss has given me me Editor delegate access to his Contacts folder - it has been a couple days already but I still cannot see his contacts. II try to go File>Open>Other User's folder >and enter his name, it tells me I don't have access to the contacts folder. I tried to add a screen shot but your system would not let me?? 


Exchange server not picking up correct server

We've recently setup exchange 2013. When users try to connect to with their gmail app (for example) it shows the "exchange server" as domain.org - when it should be owa.domain.org. If we change it manually to owa.domain.org, all works well, although sometimes we do get random cannot connect errors.

I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of some troubleshooting.

Local mailbox size and server size not the same (running in online mode)

Hi clever people,

We are running Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2016.

All our shared mailboxes run in online mode, not cached mode.

When my users get a warning about mailbox size they normally check the mailbox size button in Outlook. But the size is never the same as the warning indicates. Why not? Is it only because of the server storing deleted items for recovery or is there another reason?

Shared mailboxes are running in, as mentioned, online mode so this should not be a question of wrong OST file size or un-synced data.

Tracing the source of an outlook popup through logging?

I am running outlook 2013. I have 3 accounts set up; 2 imap and one exchange account. For years, things worked fine. Then one day, when I would first open outlook after a reboot, my outlook would prompt me for credential, e.g.:

The "account@domain.com" is actually the email address of one of my clients with whom I troubleshoot. I NEVER connect to one of my clients under my own profile, however. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS use other profiles for my clients.

Therefore, instead of trying to WONDER why I'm getting prompted, I would like to find out how to trace (THROUGH LOGGING) what outlook was doing which causes me to get prompted for credentials.

The only other piece of information that may be helpful to note is that if i hit ->CANCEL<- (which is all i'm really able to do), my outlook connects to exchange and the two IMAP accounts and everything works as expected.

So to make it completely clear, I am not looking for suggestions on HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, I would like to know how I can TRACE the source of this password prompt (TRACE GUESSING OR ASSUMING OR PRESUMING!) through logging.

No Option to Edit Groups in Exchange 2013 OWA

Hello,

There is no option in my Exchange 2013 OWA to add members or remove members from a group in OWA. I can manage groups only via my Outlook client . I can though add and edit contacts . How do i enable group management in my specific user's OWA or for everyone ?

Outlook 2013/ Exchange 2013: S/MIME encryption only works when answering to a signed mail

Greetings,

I have a weird Problem. My Mailbox is hosted by a Provider with hosted Exchange 2013. I have a couple of customers who have their own mailboxes in their own Exchange 2007 organization. To enable S/MIME encrpytion, I have sent signed mails to them, they answered with signed mails. I have exported their X.509 certificate, have created an Outlook contact for each of them and have been carefully importing the certifcate to each contact.

So far so good. Everything should be in line now to enable S/MIME encryption. BUT:

- I cannot send encrypted mails when composing an new mail and choosing the recipient(s) from my Outlook contacts.

- I cannot encrypt the answer to a clear text mail.

- I cannot encrypt the answer to an encrpted, but not signed mail.- I can ONLY encrpyt when I reply to a signed mail.

I am on Windows 8.1 Professional 64 Bit. I run Office 2013 64 Bit. I use an S/MIME certificate from cacert.org.

Any ideas would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

PS: in the meantime, I have tried the same procedure on a second Notebook, with Windows 8.1  Pro 64 Bit und Outlook 2013 32 Bit. I got exactly the same results. Can only encrypt when replying to signed Messages. Cannot encrypt new Messages, answers to encrypted (but not signed) Messages and answers to clear text (unsigned, unencrypted) Messages.

PPS: I installed Outlook 2010 64 Bit in parallel - same results :-(  In will give a try to a virtual Win7 machine, though...

PPPS: also: no difference between Outlook Cache mode and Outlook online mode

Outlook contacts are alway expanded

Hi All,

We have experienced a strange behavior under our client’s whole Citrix environment- related to Outlook 2013. We’d appreciate your comments and advices on the topic.

There’s been implemented one large, common address list for all employees  - not yet mapped in for everybody though. The shared mailbox doesn’t have a mailing function, it is set up only for contacts.

As the address list contains a large amount of contact cards, users set up the following view, in order to be easier to scroll through it. Group by: as per Division / Compan / Department – Ascending; Frequently used fields; Expand/ collapse: as last viewed

Some users have raised the complaint though, that if they set the Expand/collapse to “All collapsed” by default – it somehow switches back to “As last viewed”.

On the other hand if they switch back to this address list from another mapped-in Contact list (e.g. of a delegate), their Outlook would expand all Categories, so that they again have to do “All collapse” to be able to scroll comfortably.

This problem occurs only in the Outlook profiles under Citrix.
On the other Outlook-platform, on Win8 machines though, the setting “All collapsed” remains  as they left it: it remembers whether it was previously expanded/not.

Outlook 2010 Contact Photos Not Showing in Emails

I am using Outlook 2010 in a corporate environment, and have photos set for most of my contacts.  I have Social Connector enabled as well.  Before I got a new laptop, these contact photos would show up in the top-right corner of emails and in the Social Connector bar below emails.  However, my new image on this new laptop doesn't seem to show the photos in the top-right, and the Social Connector bar simply shows the default empty profile pictures for everyone no matter what I do.

I have:

-checked the "Show user photographs" contact setting in options

-added the Microsoft Outlook 2010 Group Policy Classic Administrative Template and set as many settings as possible to try to enable photos (maybe I'm missing one here?)

-tried setting these registry keys:

--HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\TurnOffPhotograph = 0

--HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\TurnOffPhotograph = 0

--HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PreferADPhotos = 1

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Related Messages Pop Up

I frequently utilize the "Related Messages in this Conversation" feature. Say I'm on the fifth email in Outlook.. I double click on it, find its related messages, and delete some of those emails, the window then defaults to the main Inbox and to the very first email on top. This is different from Microsoft Outlook 2007 where it would default to the Inbox but to the fourth email. 

Hoping you can share how I can delete messages in Related Messages window, and then automatically go back to the Inbox to the fourth message, instead of the very first message on top.  Please know the numbering I've used is only for elaboration purposes.

Outlook 2016 Desktop, Inbox "resets"

I'm having issues with Outlook where my inbox (connected to Exchange Server) "resets" and completely empties and then has to redownload everything from the server. This happens to me multiple times per day. The mail isn't actually deleted and if I log into OWA on the web I can see everything, it is only affecting me through Outlook.

Issue occurred both in Outlook 2013 and now 2016.

I've deleted my OST multiple times and had it recreated.

I've deleted my Mail profile and recreated.

I've slimmed down what I store on Exchange. It's currently about 800 items in the inbox and less than 650mb (in the inbox proper)

Cached Exchange mode is enabled and I've played with the length of time... from 6 months to 12 to 24.

I've searched the web and can't find anything. I've engaged our IT team and they don't know what's causing it. I've enabled logging in Outlook, but I can't interpret the logs.

It FEELS like if I'm on a slow internet connection it happens more frequently. Almost like it loses sync with Exchange. It only seems to affect the actual inbox, and other nested folders on Exchange don't seem to be affected. Same with the calendar. I don't know if that's all in my head or not...

Any ideas Netizens?

Multiple junk mail folders in outlook 2013

4 additional junk mail folders (junk mail1, junk mail 2, ...) have appeared in my IMAP email account in Outlook 2013. Why has this happened? I tried to delete them but this hasn't worked.

I use this mailbox in my iphone; i found this:

Email notifications in Outlook 2010/Win 7/MS Exchange Server

Greetings everyone.  Hope someone can help.  I recently purchased a new HPZbook (hopefully last laptop I'll need in the remaining years of my worklife!).  It came with Win 7 professional SP-1 pre-installed.  I updated Windows via the MS auto-update feature.  I then installed MS Office Home and Business 2010.  Both of these are exactly what I have on the old HP Pavilion that the new ZBook is replacing.  My company uses MS Exchange server for its email application.

Unfortunately, I am not getting either an Envelope Icon in the Taskbar nor a Desktop Alert when new email messages arrive.  Obviously I have all of the appropriate boxes checked in Outlook File/Options/Mail.  My old computer displays both of these alerts every time a new email arrives so I know these items work!

Very annoying to have to constantly open the Outlook application to see if I have new emails.  Can anyone help please?  I've searched all over the net for a solution and saw all kinds of crazy ideas.  I did go into Control Panel/Programs/MS Office and tell it to REPAIR itself but did not help.  I also made sure I only have one .pst file on my hardrive.

Multiforest congiguration. I have to enter email/password in authentication forest "auto account setup" stage

Hello everybody.

I have faced with an issue in my testlab. I prepared resource forest with Exchange 2013 installed, and authentication forest for users. All is working fine except "Auto account setup" stage.

When user from resource forest runs outlook, email address and display name are filling automatically, and user has to press next button and outlook started being adjusted. 

But when user from authentication forest starts outlook, autoresolve doesn't work, and user has to type login, email address, password. And after that - without any problem outlook connects to the server.

In this case i suggest autodiscover service for authenticate forest works partially.

Is it possible to make filling automatically in both forests.

Audit failed login attempts in Exchange OWA 2013

Hello Dears

I'm trying to find out the failed login attempt over my OWA in Exchange 2013

After some research I found it should be on IIS Virtual Directory logs (C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1), and I should use Log Parser 2.2 to export the needed results. (I used this article http://myriadofthings.com/outlook-web-access-owa-and-activesync-reporting-using-iis-logs/)

But when i parsed the logs, i wasn't able to find my failed attempts that i just did now as a test.

I should fond them in the results. But I only find results for past 9 hours and earlier. not sure why my last attempts were logged as expected.

Could you please advise what I'm missing here? Is this the right way to get the failed login attempts for 2013 OWA, and why its not updates by last failed attempts.

Exchange 2010 Hybrid Migration Edge Transport issues

I am having issues with the Edge Transport subscription.

Edge Server is in our DMZ

As far as I know all ports are open

Have created the Edge Subscription on the Edge Server, copied it to the Mail/CAS/HUB server

EdgeSync is runnning

Can not fix Error = EventID 1005

Could not decrypt EdgeSync credential ...... using Edge default certificate with thumbprint ########. The exception is Bad Data.

I have unsubscribed and resubscribed three times with no change.

What am I missing, any help would be appreciated

Can't telnet to IMAP

Hi Guys

We have ERP Oracle E-business Suite 12.2 need to get email notification whether to send SMTP or receive IMAP from Exchange. Our environment use exchange 2013 CU7.

when we try to test connection IMAP with telnet  we experience this issue, NO LOGIN failed.

We've already tried various ways to solve this issue but nothing works such as,

1. restart all server CAS & MBX

2. activate IMAP proxy on 2 CAS server

3. tried to login with domain and UPN

4. login with regular user and admin

and we think all the configuration nothing wrong but somehow we cant telnet to IMAP.

any idea?

or someone already experienced this issue? please advice
