You don't have permission to perform this action(send and receive) after CU12

My problem is started after Exchange 2013 CU12 update. Now user can log on with owa or outlook to exchange but it can't send or receive an email. I give an error over the owa "You don't have permission to perform this action." And when we try to sent an email it saved for draft. it is stacked draft folder.

I can sent email from external email servers to my exchange and I can see passing the email over firewall to the exchange. But mailbox user can't access the new emails

I did try somethings;

Add-MailboxPermission Jeff.Smith@contoso.com -User "NT AUTHORITY\SELF" -AccessRights FullAccess,ReadPermission

or

in active directory user and computer user security tab, checked include inheritable permissions

Didn't work both of above.

Our environment is simple; Active directory is a windows 2008 R2 server, Exchange 2013 is working on Windows 2012 r2.

outlook 2010 paperclip but no attachment

We are having issues where an email has a paperclip icon but not attachment in Outlook 2010.  If the same email is viewed via OWA, then the attached file can be seen and accessed, so I know there is a file there.

Is there a setting in Outlook or Exchange is blocking the attachment from making it through to the desktop client but not the OWA client? 

Integration OWA - Lync 2013

Hello

Yesterday, I have updated the certificate of the Lync 2013 platform. Today, I have realized that the Lync 2013 feature of OWA was not working anymore.

Reviewing the case with other users, it seems that the issue is only affecting some users. Some of them are correctly connecting to IM and some others are showing the error "There´s a problem with IM. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your Helpdesk.".

Do you know what could be the problem?

Attachments are Taking a Long Time to Send

I am the email admin for my group.  We are connected to an exchange server to our individual outlook applications on our devices.  Only one member of our group is having this issue out of 26 members.  When she sends an email with an attachment, it can sometimes take 45 minutes to send.  This attachment is usually one invoice.  So, it is not large.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Outlook 2013 Prompts for username and password when Outlook reconnects to Exchange 2013 everytime

Hi we experience that Outlook 2013 always asks for user name and password when it tries to reconnect after Hibernation or when a laptop is moved from one subnet to another in our corporate environment.

Outlook is running in cached mode.

The Computer is a Domain computer and their is no need to specify user name or password when starting outlook. 

One user's contacts do not load in OWA 2013

Only one user in this system has this problem. Every other user is able to load their contacts. When using Outlook or an ActiveSync device, it works fine, but on OWA, it says "Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later." I did find that it works fine under the light version (using the layout=light variable).

One factor to this might be the fact that the mailbox has existed since 2005. It has been migrated from Exchange 2003, to 2007, and now to 2013. I suspect that recreating the mailbox and moving its content will correct it, but I'm hoping for something less invasive and less impacting on the user.

OWA authentication

I have setup our internal OWA & ECP virtual directory's for Windows Integrated Authentication which is working for most people.  For some reason a few people are getting prompted to log in every time they launch OWA.  From what I noticed the login prompt is a Windows Security prompt that also includes an option to "Insert a Smart Card".  These users in question do have a smart card that they use to access some external websites.  

Is there a way I could get the Windows Integrated Authentication to work properly for these users and not get prompted with the Windows Security box?

Problems while searching mailbox contact list and public folder contacts in OWA 2013

I've ran into an issue which is reproducible on CU12 and CU10 across multiple browsers where after searching Public Folder Contacts in OWA, if I switch to the Mailbox contact list it gives me the message "An error occurred while searching. Please try again later". 

We have the Public Folder Contact added as a Favorite in Outlook so I have added that as a favorite in OWA. When I login to OWA and go to People to search the mailbox contact list, it works and returns results. I'll switch down and select the Public Folder Contacts and search works and returns results. If I try to go back to Mailbox contacts to search then I get the error. From my testing, waiting awhile and searching again doesnt help and have to actually log out of OWA and back in to get the mailbox contacts to be searchable again. During this time, Test-ExchangeSearch looks good and email search continues to function normally. The issue only impacts contacts and only after searching a Public Folder contact list.

I've replicated this in two separate environments, including my homelab which is also on CU12. I also tested on Exchange 2016 and the behavior is similar in that I still get the error after trying to search the Public Folder Contacts then Mailbox Contacts, but the difference is so far, the Public Folder search returns 0 results for me but 2013 does.

Hi all,

A bit of a niche request came across my desk the other day and I want to see if it is possible and if so, can it be done with a GPO.

A new manager has started and he has requested to be able to view a whole bunch of users' calendars. The users then obviously have to agree to share their calendar and at that point they choose what details they want to share by way of a drop down box. 

Despite being asked to share Limited details, the users are just blindly accepting the defaults (Availability only) and sending. This means they would have to be talked through changing that setting later.

What I want to do is make the default setting of that drop down box to be Limited details.

Server Error & This attachment must be viewed in the browser before it can be downloaded

Dear Team!

We have an customer, which has an Exchange 2013.
Now we have the following issue:
When I try to view a attachment in webmail, I'm getting the following pop-up (message):
"This attachment must be viewed in the browser before it can be downloaded "

And when I klick on "open in browser", then a second window opens, but it Shows:
Server Error
We're sorry. An error has occured.
We've logged the error for the Server Administrator

I have checked the following:
Get-OWAMailboxPolicy | fl *force*   is showing this result:

Could it maybe be a Network issue?

Outlook Deleted Calendar Item

Hi,

I have been asked a question by colleague and I'm unsure of the answer, any help and guidance would be appreciated.

My colleague has Owner access to a group of Managers Outlook Calendar and feels certain that he created an appointment item for one of these managers. 

However this calendar item no longer exists, my colleague believes that the manager may have accidentally or maliciously deleted this item and wanted to know if there was any method available to him to be able to check this?

I work within an organisation that use Exchange so I imagine if push came to shove he could make a formal request for audit information, however he would like to know if there is any method available to him.

For clarity, he did not create an item in his own calendar and invite the manager, he created it for just the manager with no attendees.

Please let me know if there's any other information needed to help me.

I have started receiving the error on Hybrid Exchange server with all roles with Event 9646 for a shared Mailbox accessed by 70 odd users. 

Is there a way i can get the session details users who causing this issue, what are the ideal limits for same on Exchange 2013.

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable when I try to open OWA/ECP

Dear all,

Since this morning I've been facing the problem with opening OWA/ ECP. When try to do it I'm getting the error message in browser:

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

Restarting of IIS service doesn't help.

Any piece of advice would be very helpful. Thank you in advance


Autodiscover message in Outlook

Dear all,

When users connect to outlook outside the office they recieve a message below saying that:

No problem occurs when they're inside a network or connected to VPN.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Presence icon missing in Outlook 2013 and 2016

Hi all,

some of our users are experiencing issue with missing presence icon on the left side:

They do not see this icon, only user name. Presence is working fine if we hover over the name and contact card shows up. In OWA it is also working as expected.

Tried both Outlook 2013 and 2016 with same issue. Disabled and also enabled hardware acceleration without any help.

If same account is logged in on another pc, it works fine so it is local issue.

I suspect it is because the issue pc has 4k monitor, we tried different DPI and screen resolution without any help. Even external monitor in difference size has this issue.

Tried GFX driver from pc manufactor, Windows update and also GFX provider without any help.

Seems like this is a known issue from earlier client:

This registry did not help since path shown in the link does not exist. (Common\PersonaMenu and Common\IM).

Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Computer is brand new and it is an annoying bug, since our users have to hover to see their presence.

A meeting reminder is set unexpectedly when you send an email message to an Exchange Server user

Hi,

after a smooth migration from Exchange 2007 (SBS) to Exchange 2013 on premise, I've got a solved problem back. A meeting reminder is set unexpectedly when someone sends via mail an invitation to an appointment to a college.

I’ve copied my old storedrive.config from Exchange 2007 where it works fine to the bin-folder of Exchange 2013, restarted the server and it doesn’t work.

The value for AddNewRequestsTentatively is set to true. The ProcessExternalMeetingMessages-value can't be set, because the mailbox is a user mailbox.

Get-CalenderNotifiation shows, that the value for MeetingReminderNotification is set to false.

Has anyone further suggestions, how to get rid of that nasty reminder?

Exchange 2013 - Outlook 2016 asks for password

Hello -

I am an administrator in an environment with Active Directory 2012 R2, Exchange 2013 CU12, and Skype for Business 2015. All of these services are on premises.

Until recently, on my Windows 7 SP1 computer I ran Office 2013 and Skype For Business (Lync) 2013. I had no connection problems with either Outlook or Skype.

This week I began a migration to a new computer - Windows 10 with Office 2016. Both Outlook and Skype are repeatedly (but not consistently) asking for my username and password. Sometimes they will accept my password and sometimes they won't.

There does not appear to be any problems with my account, as Outlook/Skype are still working fine on my parallel Windows 7/ Office 2013 computer.

Creating a new profile has not helped. Neither has clearing credentials in Credential Manager.

My Outlook is in Cached Mode.

I have no shared folders or mailboxes in my profile, and I unchecked "Download Shared Folders" and "Download Public Folder Favorites".

Our Exchange CAS servers are behind an F5 load balancer.

I have a coworker who is experiencing a similar problem with his new Windows 10 / Office 2016 computer. He points out that if he works in Online mode, he does not have the problem.

Since I am also an Exchange Admin, I can also make changes on the server level, if that will help.

I appreciate any help and advice you can offer.

Hello,

Exchange 2013 cu9. 2 cas servers and 2 mbx servers.  CAS servers balance is done  by DNS round robin. The problem is that OWA kicks off users. User opens OWA page, enters credentials, works with messages and then randomly login page appears.

What could be the reason and how to fix it?
