Unique Calendar Permissions

$

I have a calendar which is visable to the entire company. I am trying to alter the calendar permissions for certain employees but ideally would like something that isnt currently offered in the pre exisiting list.

Can anyone tell me whether this is possible?

For example, how would I go about allowing certain people to see the attendees and 'busy' and potentially the location and subject title of a meeting, but not the body of the meeting request? This is for the purpose of staff being able to tell whether a particular person is in a meeting (In a share joint company wide calendar) but not to be able to see any confidential documents which have been attached to the meeting request.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

Thanks in advance.

Outlook Shared Mailbox Search

All,

We are having a weird issue with a shared mailbox that many users have access to.  This is between users who are NOT using cached mode. First a little background as to how we got to where we are now.

We performed an Exchange 2007 migration to Exchange 2013.  After doing so, the Full Access permissions that had been applied to the shared mailbox were not changed post migration.  Since automapping wasn't available in Exchange 2007 this was obviously disabled for all of the users.  Users whom searched while in the shared mailbox were able to retrieve results as expected without affecting others.

We now have a situation where when one users does a search in the shared mailbox and leaves the results up, and then another user performs a search within the shared mailbox, it changes the results for the first user.  This didn't start happening until the users permissions were removed and then re-added enabling automapping.  We then removed the permissions again and then reapplied the permissions only disabling automapping, setting it to $false.  The search results still affect each other.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?  I understand that when not running in cached mode the searches are done on the server itself hence making the results available to everyone.  I just don't understand why this wasn't the case prior to making the permissions changes post migration.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Default OWA to show BCC line

In Exchange 2007, we were able to edit the 'editmessage.aspx' file so that the bcc line would show for all OWA users by default, all the time when creating a new message.

Is there a way to accomplish this in Exchange 2013?

Exchange 2013, Outlook 2010, emails with #

We are running an Exchange 2013 server and I am trying to send to an email address starting with # to an external domain.  After sending, I right away get a message back from Microsoft Outlook saying that it was undeliverable ('550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable').  The generating server shows as our exchange server so it's like it is looking within the local Exchange server for this address.

When I check the message tracking in Exchange, it doesn't show in there, so I'm guessing that it is coming from Outlook not Exchange.  I tried adding the email address to the Safe Recipients in the Junk Email settings in Outlook but that did not help.

I can send to this email address from Gmail and various other external email servers just not from our exchange server using Outlook 2010.  Does anyone have any insight on what is causing this and how to fix it?  Thank you.

Unable to setup delegation mailbox with Full Access Rights in Outlook 2013 after moving to office 365

Dear Exchange Expert,

we have just migrating to Office 365 for some of the mailboxes. most of the users are using Outlook 2010 SP2 and some will be Outlook 2013. Currently, I encountered a lot of issues with delegation mailbox as the behaviour is not like on premise exchange before.

First, Auto Mapping is not working both for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. The alternative workaround will be manually map via File | Info | Account Settings | Select Primary Email Account | More Settings | Advanced | Add Mailboxes | Click Apply. This can work on Outlook 2010, but it doesn't work on 2013. Below are the troubleshooting that has been done:

1. Upgrade to the latest SP by following the Office 365 Requirements.

2. Manually Map the Delegation Shared Mailbox after running the powershell , but when I expand the folder, it will become Not responding and finally come out with error message "Cannot Expand The Folder. The Sets of Folder cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the exchange server is down for maintenance".

3. Automatically Map with Powershell  "Add-MailboxPermission "SharedMailbox" -User "Delegated Users" -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping $true won't work as well. there is no even folder being mapped into the outlook

4. Close the outlook and try to setup as additional mailbox via ControlPanel | Mail | Email Account | Select Primary Email Account | More Settings | Advanced | Add Mailboxes | Click Apply. After that, launch outlook to test. Outlook will start to keep prompting for credentials for the SharedMailbox, but when I key in user credentials and password, it won't get thru. it will keep prompting persistently. Clicking Cancel without entering password won't work too. By right it should not prompting for credentials as sharedmailbox  in office 365 don't have the login password.

5. Start Outlook in Safe mode won't work too to ensure that there is no add ins is blocking.

6. Login to OWA and tested that the shared mailboxes able to add in OWA, meaning the permission has been configured properly.

7. Try to give SendAccess right, there is no issue. user is able to act as the owner of the shared mailbox and send out email.

8. Close any antivirus applications, it doesn't work too.

Please advise.

Thanks so much.

Best Regards,

Exchange 2013 External Autodiscover - Outlook 2013/2016

$

Greetings,

I have two Exchange 2013 server inside my organization both running on Server 2012 R2 and both set up with CAS/MBX roles and this system has been up and running for about a year now.  This system was deployed as Exchange 2013 from the outset so no other versions of Exchange have ever been in AD.  The system is configured to accept mail for multiple domains.  Split-DNS is configured and so from both the inside and outside, everything is referenced by mail.domain1.com.  My SSL cert is a SAN-cert with the issued name as mail.domain1.com and SAN of autodiscover.domain1.com.

Inside, Autodiscover works with no trouble on domain-joined clients as we simply create a new Outlook profile for Exchange and everything populates automatically.  We don't have any non-domain clients inside and so I am uncertain as to whether or not Autodiscover works on those types of clients.

For the past couple of days, I have been trying to make Autodiscover work from the outside on a non-domain-joined client with no VPN connection back to the inside network.  When I use the ExRCA, I have success with both the Outlook Autodiscover and Outlook Connectivity tests.  But when I attempt to configure a new Outlook profile, I supply the name, email address and password of the account and I hit next and then I see "Searching for user@domain1.com settings".  After about a 30-second pause, instead of completing the account configuration, I always get taken to a dialogue box with "Windows Security" at the top and then further down it reads "Mail Application" and below that, "Connecting to user@domain1.com" and then it wants me to supply the account password again.  I can seemingly enter the password as many times as I want but this prompt continues to pop up and the account never gets configured.

Since the ExRCA tests are successful, I'm at a loss for what I am missing.  I have tried this with both Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016 and I get the same results.  Any tips, hints or suggestions would be appreciated!

OWA, HTTP and Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.TooManyObjectsOpenedException

When trying to use OWA over a plain, unencrypted connection, i.e. by logging in through http://localhost/owa/auth/logon.aspx, not https://, I can't access the mailbox, calendar on any other feature, and IIS returns 500 internal error to POST requests. After a while I will get to this error message: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.TooManyObjectsOpenedException. Any tips on how to solve this? OWA works fine over https, but I want to configure it over http as well.

Outlook gets Authentication Error on IMAP4 on Exchange 2013 CU9

$

Since we installed CU9 IMAP connections from Outlook (2007 and 2013) get rejected w/ authentication errors.

(from the IMAP4 server log: "NTLM,"R=""yqw4 NO AUTHENTICATE failed."";Msg=""System.Security.SecurityException:The user name or password is incorrect.\r\n"";LiveIdAR=OK;Excpt=""The user name or password is incorrect.\r\n-System.Security.SecurityException"";")

Only after setting "EnableGSSAPIAndNTLMAuth" to false w/ Set-ImapSettings the access works again.

The SPN-Records (IMAP/ and IMAP4/) do exist and point to the right computer account.

I am aware that in CU9 "GSSAPI-based Kerberos authentication protocol is not offered to IMAP clients in Exchange Server 2013" was fixed and I assume that this might be the cause of our issues.

(To avoid a discussion on why no MAPI-based access is used I can tell that most our clients do but for a few IMAP is a requirement.)

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Error migrating user from on-premises Exchange to Exchange online

We have a hybrid configuration with our on-premises Exchange 2010 server and our Office 365 Exchange Online server (if this should be posted in the Exchange 2010 forum instead, let me know, but I figured we have one of each).  We have been doing remote moves, and all but two of them are finished. The two remaining are refusing to go, and I've done extensive searching but haven't been able to resolve the issues.

The first mailbox returns this error message:

Error:MissingExchangeGuidException: The user object for ‎nnndoes not have a valid ExchangeGuid property and cannot be migrated.

The second mailbox returns this error message:

Error:MigrationTransientException: Couldn‎'t find a move request that corresponds to the specified identity <‎identity>.

We've tried moving both mailboxes several times (deleting the migration batch after each error) with no luck.   The migration for both of these users are being done as separate batches with one user in each batch.  They are being created via the Exchange Admin Center from the Office 365 admin portal.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

Emails sent as RTF winmail.dat even so when composing as HTML

Hi,

I’m using outlook 2016 with a micrososft exchange account and some recipients are receiving my emails as a winmail.dat file and they can't open it.

So I'm sending an email with a pdf attachment, and the recepient receives a winmail.dat file instead of the pdf.

The emails are composed in HTML format but for some reason they receive it as winmail.dat.

Please advice how to solve this problem.

Many thanks
