Cannot open Outlook 2013. Cannot resolve name. Cannot connect to Exchange server. Etc.

Name an error to do with connecting to an Exchange server, and I'm pretty sure I've had it.

I had Outlook 2013 working fine on Windows 8, until I reinstalled Win8, and I can now no longer connect to my Exchange account (2010 Server).

I've read all the threads, tried everything, entering host names, proxy settings, mailbox servers, authentication types, etc.

When I connected previously, I just put in my alias@domain.tld and password, and Outlook found all the settings and sorted me out.

So, to avoid confusion, and help you to help me from the beginning, I've deleted profiles, and reinstalled Office:

  • I'm prompted for a profile.

    I enter profile name.

  • I enter my name, email address, password twice.

  • It searches for settings, and prompts me to login 'Windows Security'. It says "connecting to alias@domain.tld" - seems weird, I'd expect it to say something like "connecting to exchange.domain.tld"?

  • It doesn't accept my username and password (correct, work on exchange.domain.tld/owa web app) and I can't get any further.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks,

Strange Autodiscover Issue

Hello,

We have recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.  There are no problem migrating an existing mailbox.  However,  when a new user is created on Exchange 2013, they attempt to open Outlook and they receive a "server is unavailable offline" message.  If you examine their profile, the email address is filled in the "Your Name" box and the email address field is blank.  I've spent a few hours searching the web and cannot find a similar issue.  It's as if auto discover is working but just not populating the correct fields.  Populating the email address in the correct field solves the problem but I don't want to do this manually every time we add a new user.

Hi,

I have a exchange environment with 2 mailbox server configured DAG and 2 Client access servers, ... One of the CAS servers is configured as withness server for failover cluster.

CAS are configured with DNS round robin where same A record with different IP of cas a and cas b are added.

OWA is working fine, connected sending and receiving mails

However Outlook clients 2007 2010 and 2013 are not connecting and doesn't send receive and send email. It works fine for few days then suddenly it stops working. Its not that outlook never worked. It works and after few days doesn't. Usually we restart all the 4 servers until it starts working again.

This time it  is not working after restarting also

there was Error 106 performance counter, we reset the performance counter using the script

I have observed Error IDs.  1003 106 1008 1023 1111 2001 2004 4109 15021  in the last 24 hours

Please advice

Thank you

Exchange 2013 EAC shows "error Sorry, your request couldn't be completed. Try deleting the cookies from your browser, and then sign in again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk."

Hi,

My Exchange 2013 Hybrid environment is at CU5 level. Multiple administrators have started experiencing the error message

"error
Sorry, your request couldn't be completed. Try deleting the cookies from your browser, and then sign in again. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk."

It only started two weeks ago and did not coincide with any infrastructure changes. The message occurs when clicking anything on the EAC GUI and it eventually allows you to perform the operation but only after the message pops up a few times.

I have tried clearing the browser cookies, history, etc. Note that using the Office 365 EAC does not yield the same messages and it only happens in IE (IE 11).

Thanks.

Shared contacts in Office 365 public folder not displaying correctly in OWA People "Other contacts"

$

We setup a public folder for shared contacts for our local church on Office 365 Business Essentials for Nonprofits.
Everything worked well to start with when I tested it as the initial owner but after granting other users permissions it stopped working.

Shared contacts in a public folder, which are accessed through OWA | People | "Other contacts" (after having been added to Favourites etc initially comes up with "Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later" error then after a long delay displays the first 50 contacts, instead of the full list.

I tried to deleted some of the list and checked all contacts but it just changes to another 50 contacts being displayed and no more.

All permissions for the test shared accounts are set to owner I and have tried different browsers (IE11/Chrome/Edge) and different windows versions 7 & 10 but it comes up with the same response from the MS Office 365 online servers.

This appears to be a bug coming from the Microsoft Server end but it is somewhat frustrating since my only other option is to set up each user's account with a copy of the "My Contacts" one by one... then if there are any changes, it would mean editing each user contacts.

Also, when searching for contacts in OWA's People or Outlook it does not have an option to search in all contacts (including Contact, Directory, & Other Contacts)

Do Google Apps clients have these types of issues?

Hello.

We are recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to 2013 CU8. All roles are installed on one server.
Most of our users connecting to Exchange from external networks with Outlook 2013 and they get this autodiscover.xml (seehttp://pastebin.com/LWaDYDUy).

Here virtual directory config:

All working fine except one thing: Outlook 2013 from external network trying to download OAB from internal url. Here is output from "bitsadmin /list /verbose":

Exchange/TLS 1.2 Unsupported in Windows 7

$
0
0

Outlook (all versions) in Windows 7 seem to require TLS 1.0 in order to communicate with Exchange using either MAPI or Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP). Outlook is unable to use TLS 1.1/1.2 despite the fact that the protocol is supported in Schannel under Windows 7 and that it can be used for other applications such as IE11 and RDP. Disabling TLS 1.0 on the server will break any Outlook client using Windows 7. Windows 8.0> do not have this problem.

TLS 1.0 is universal, with near 100% support. Though TLS 1.1 and 1.2 are growing more common, many Exchange clients still do not work with anything but TLS 1.0. For example, at this time, we are tracking multiple issues with Outlook running on Windows 8.0 or older. We are hoping to address these issues soon, but with Windows 7 commonly running in most customer environments, this is a really good reason to not disable TLS 1.0 yet. Source: Exchange TLS & SSL Best Practices

Given that PCI compliance now requires disabling TLS 1.0 and Windows 7 remains the most widely used version of Windows, can Microsoft give any update as to when they intend to address these issues? If anyone has experienced this problem, did you find any way to force Windows 7/Outlook to use TLS 1.2?

Thanks!

Hi, I need to recover deleted mails from a Terminated user mailbox, So am using OWA to recover mails and from which i cannot recover in one shot. So is there any powershell command using which we can recover the user's deleted mails into the same user's mailbox inbox folder. If it can go to the respective folders it will be great. Thanks.

Office 365 OWA (Outlook Web Application) automatically marking email as read

$

Exchange emails that are being received are automatically being marked as read. The client is using the outlook web application to access their emails. This is inconvenient because it makes it hard to keep track of what emails have been read and acknowledged verses new one coming in. We have changed the "mark as read" options to mark read after being displayed for 5 seconds, and have tried "do not mark as read" but that has not fixed this issue. Any recommendations?

would you please help me to get a solution for the following issue?

i have a domain without exchange, and the clients were connecting to outside exchange server through liked mailbox.

when try to join any client to that domain and configure the e-mail, the autodiscover is pointing to the exchange server.

after that we installed another exchange and linked the users to that new exchange ( connecting through linked mailbox too)

the problem is when i try to configure the outlook it points to the old exchange.

i looked in everywhere in the AD and DNS for anything point to the old exchange to change it  but a got nothing, even in the group policy nothing too.

can you help me ???

Installing Exchange 2013 CU12 breaks OWA

$

Hi

Three Windows 2012 servers fully patched.
Installed CU12 on two of them without a problem. The third went OK at first, no setup errors, completed successfully.
Then I started to see ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS accessing OWA via Kemp loadmaster.
Accesed OWA via localhos on all servers and this third one gave me an error:

Server Error in '/owa' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Could not find file '%exchangeinstall%\HttpProxy\owa\auth\15.0.1104\themes\resources\logon.css'.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file '%exchangeinstall%\HttpProxy\owa\auth\15.0.1104\themes\resources\logon.css'.

So it is pointing to the old version of CU, CU11... 15.0.1104 it should be 15.0.1178 CU12.
All servers are saying that they have the latest version: Version 15.0 (Build 1178.4)

I also see a lot of event id 5009 and 5011 on this server:
5009: A process serving application pool 'MSExchangeOWAAppPool' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '26312'. The process exit code was '0xdeadd00d'.
5011: A process serving application pool 'MSExchangeServicesAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '16804'. The data field contains the error number.

Any idea or hints of a solution would be appreciated!
Reinstall is one way to go as it is part of a DAG... but would prefer not.

Robert

Unable to connect to exchange 2013 from internal client with Outlook 2007

$

Hi.

I have created a new virtual "test" environment, with 3 machines, all connected to the same virtual network.

1) Windows Server 2012, Domain Controller + DHCP server

2) Windows Server 2012, Member Server + Exchange 2013

3) Windows 7 Pro + Outlook 2007

Now: i have set from "ecp" all the basic things in exchange 2013, as "accepted domains", receiving and sending connectors, verified in "server - server - outlook anywhere" that the field "internal server name" was as i expected (exch2012.mydomain.mycity).

Then I created a new account "USER", directly from ECP, with his new mailbox.

I have connected the Win7 client to the domain, and created a local user corresponding to the one created in exchange/AD. The client is connecting regularly to the domain, no problem here.

Even if I try to access the mailbox from Internet Explorer, going to "https://exch2012/owa", i can access it, and even send and read message.

The problem here is when i try to create an Outlook 2007 profile. As i enter in the profile manager in control panel, and try to create the profile, the wizard auto-fill the fields with name="user" and address="user@mydomain.mycity". Anyway, i choose to manually configure the account. In the next windows, the wizards asks for the server name, and here i type "exch2012.mydomain.mycity". In the user field i set "user".

As soon as i hit the "check name" button, the wizard answer "unable to complete the action. connection to microsoft exchange not available. to complete the operation, it is necessary that outlook is on a network or connected" (sorry - my server is in italian and i tried to translate the message the best i can).

The communication from the 3 machines are, i guess, perfect, since the ping "machine_name" respond perfectly. As said i can even access the mailbox via OWA from the same Windows 7 machine, typing simply the servername/owa.

There is something else i am failing to do...but i don't know anymore what it could be!

Hope someone can help me.Thanks

User gets logged out weekly

One of our users is logged out of his Outlook on a weekly basis. Everything works fine on Friday, but when we come back after the weekend, he's been logged out of his email and his credentials need to be reentered before he can send/receive anything. We have the same setup for dozens of other users, but none of them have this issue. What can cause this, and how can we fix it?

Connect local Outlook client to Exchange mailbox after migration to Office 365

$

A customer has migrated to Exchange Online. The Exchange server is still there with its mailboxes. Autodiscovery (and such?) has been disabled in the local environment. I need to get access to a couple of these mailboxes with Outlook to check a few emails.

What I primarly do, is create a new Outlook account, and point it to the local server (on LAN, with .local domain). But even though I do this, and provide the local AD account name and password, and even though all this is accepted, I still end up either failing or connecting to Exchange Online (where the username and password is different, but where the email is the same).

How can I "fool" my Outlook to connect to this old mailbox temporarily?

ETA: The customer hasn't got a backup system that allows me to restore one mailbox and so forth.

Error migrating user from on-premises Exchange to Exchange online

$

We have a hybrid configuration with our on-premises Exchange 2010 server and our Office 365 Exchange Online server (if this should be posted in the Exchange 2010 forum instead, let me know, but I figured we have one of each).  We have been doing remote moves, and all but two of them are finished. The two remaining are refusing to go, and I've done extensive searching but haven't been able to resolve the issues.

The first mailbox returns this error message:

Error:MissingExchangeGuidException: The user object for ‎nnndoes not have a valid ExchangeGuid property and cannot be migrated.

The second mailbox returns this error message:

Error:MigrationTransientException: Couldn‎'t find a move request that corresponds to the specified identity <‎identity>.

We've tried moving both mailboxes several times (deleting the migration batch after each error) with no luck.   The migration for both of these users are being done as separate batches with one user in each batch.  They are being created via the Exchange Admin Center from the Office 365 admin portal.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

What is the benefit of enabling Microsoft exchange add-on

Hi, I'm using MS exchange and Outlook has an add-in called Microsoft exchange add-in. Right now I have it disabled and everything appears to be working. However, it has features that might be useful in the future. I'm trying to determine what features exist or if there are potential problems from not enabling the add-in. Can anyone help?
