Hello,

I have been stuck for 2 weeks now.

I seem to be having inconsistent authenticating issues with mobile devices and if you try create an outlook profile, auto discover does not work either. It was working 2 weeks ago fine.

I have run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration but it comes back with unable to determine your settings.

Please, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks heaps in advanced

Can we use IIS ARR to be a reverse proxy for Exchange 2010?

Dear All:

Can we use IIS ARR to be a reverse proxy for Exchange 2010?    (I found only documents about IIS ARR with Exchange 2013, so I am not sure that we can use with Exchange 2010)

Does Microsoft support this scenario (Exchange 2010 with IIS ARR)?

Thank you very much in advance.

Vith.

Outook is misbehaving while connecting with Exchange 2013

Hi,

We are experiencing one issue with Outlook clients connecting to Exchange 2013. We are using Exchange 2013 CU10. Two CAS Servers without NLB and two MB Servers without DAG.

At Local site where Exchange Servers are placed, Clients connects well and Automatically picks up Server Name and Exchange Proxy Settings, with an exception of few users where we have visited to configure Outlook, it did not pick the settings on its own, this is a migration scenario from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. At few of MPLS Network Connected sites, Automatic Outlook configuration is not working, sometime even Outlook throw error message Exchange is unavailable. And when we manually configuring Outlook, it is picking Exchange MB Server Name instead of mailbox GUID.

Wondering what could be the issue, What should I check?

Hi,

I have presently 2 users who are running Outlook 2013 having strange behavior such as when deleting email from Outlook 2013, the email still stay in OWA or the delete button is grey out.

I'm running Exchange SP3 RU11 and Outlook 2013 15.0.4763.100 on Windows 7 SP1 build 7601

Have anyone seen this problem?

Mailbox Migrations

We have Ex 2010 & Ex 2013 servers in a single domain.

Exchange 2010 standalone server with all the roles installed.

Exchange 2013 are 5 nos.   3nos are Mailbox & 2nos are CAS.

I have migrated all the User Mailboxes form Ex 2010 to Ex 2013. (Note:We are going to DECOMMISSION the Ex 2010)

I have one Discoverysearchmailbox,  which is  in 2010.

There is no Discoverysearchmailbox in Ex 2013.

Note:You can’t use the Exchange admin center (EAC) because discovery mailboxes aren’t displayed in the EAC.

If i dont have Discoverysearchmailbox in 2013,then do i need to move from 2010 to the 2013 or i need to create a new\fresh discoverysearchmailbox in 2013 exchange servers. We are going to decommissioning the exchange 2010 server.

As i mentioned,we have 5 exchange servers in my topology, the ex 2013 servers will have any discoverysearchmailboxes by DEFAULT?

What about the Arbitration mailboxes. Should i move the Arbitration mailboxes from Ex 2010 to Ex 2013.Is it mandatory>

First 3 mailboxes are in Ex 2010 & remaining 2 mailboxes are in Ex 2013.

Please suggest me on the above quries.

Please let me know,if any other mailboxes to move to Ex 2013.

Outlook Connect and Disconnects repeatedly on Exchange 2013

$

Hi,

We are getting ready for our transition from Exchnange 2010 to Exchange 2013. Exchange is currently running in coexistence in our test environment and everything seems to run fine. 1 Dag on two servers running Exchange 2013 CU10, 1 Dag running two Exchange 2010 SP3 RU11.

Outlook connects and disconnect randomly on mailboxes on both Ex2010 and Ex2013. Sometimes not for several hours, sometimes a few times per hour. I happens with both Outlook 2007 Sp3 and Outlook 2010 Sp2 both with latest fixes via Windows Update.

While investigating the problem I ran into https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2962915. The title resembles the problem and the first symptom matches my problem but the other three don't.

Eventlogs are pretty clean despite some events about performance counters.

I tried failing over the databases

By disabling the one real server at the time on the load balancer ( Cisco ACE ) to direct all traffic to one server to see it made a difference. it did gave the any different result than having both nodes operational.

Does anybody recognize this or have a clue ?

regards,

Thorwald

Restricting received emails for a period of time

Hi folks, question i have below is this

Can i restrict emails coming into an email account in Outlook 2013 for a certain period?

So say i have a restriction on my account that i don't receive any emails between the hours of 12.00pm to 2.00pm on certain days.

Even more complex would be can I make the same restriction on emails coming in from our a domain e.g. "@milnerbrowne.com"

So that's internally on the domain and external emails. Is this all possible to do?

Change Password With Email

Change Password Fields:

1: Domain\User name (changes to Email)

I am using exchange 2013 with multiple domains. When user create a new email i am setting option 'Reset Password on next logon'. Email is not related to root domain example if root domain is @abc.com then user email may be @xyz.com.So the problem is how can user change password with his/her email not with root domain abc\administrator.

I have also set the login option with UPN in exchange admin. Is there any command to do so or setting?

Outlook 2013 keep on prompting Credentials.

I have migrated all the user mailboxes form Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 server.

We are using 3 nos Mailboxes Ex 2013 servers & 2 CAS servers. We have DAG as well.

Once configured the Outlook 2013 or 2016,the Outlook keep on prompting for the CREDENTIALS. I have modified the Authentication to Negotiate, still the same issue persists.

Always prompt for Credentials is also Unchecked in all the Users; Outlooks..i tried several times configuration & failed.I think i need to do some setting in @2013 server,if yes, please share the steps.

Note:Outlook 2010 will not prompt for credentials. If i migrate a user mailbox from Ex 2010 to 2013,then Outlook 2010 will prompt for credentials. If i configure the Outlook 2010,then issue will fix.But its not fixing in 0utlook  13 or 16.

I have removed the Outlook profile & restarted the pc. I have cleared the C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook & restarted the pc.Cleared the Credentials manager & restarted the pcs. Then i creconfigured the Outlook 13 or 16.But its keep on prompting for the credentials.

Please let me know,if any setting need to be modify\set @ the Exchange 2013 server end.Still the Exchange 2010 is available in N\W. We will decommission the Ex 2010 soon.

Tracking email headers

Hello,

This is the first time to these forums. I am trying to understand this section of the email header  from Outlook / Exchange (as it relates to tracking a potentially compromised computer).

X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthMechanism: 04

If needed, I can post the entire header. I do understand needing the entire header for tracking an email, but in the case, I'm mostly curious about this section. If you can point to any forums I missed or websites that, I would appreciate that as well.

Certificate error after modifying certificate Subject Altantive Names

$

We recently had a new certificate issued for our Exchange environment, removing the Subject Alternative Name entries which were for '.local' domains.

We changed all our virtual directories to use our public FQDN for both internal and external mapping (we have split DNS set up to resolve the FQDN to local addresses from within our local network).

After installing the new certificate we realized (because of the certificate errors being received by clients) that theAutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri was still set to the old [hostname].[domain].local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml location.  So I then ran theSet-ClientAccessServer -Identity [server] -AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri"https://[full public FQDN]/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml" command, and can now verify that the AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri is set to the correct path.

Even after making these changes Outlook clients have continued to receive the same certificate error, showing that Outlook is still trying to connect to the old [hostname].[domain].local address and indicating that the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site.  Although if we recreate a new Outlook profile they do not get the error, so I can only assume that all existing Outlook profiles are using some cached information.

I've run a Test E-Mail AutoConfiguration, and it does show that AutoConfiguration is connecting to the correct FQDN version of the Autodiscover file.

I have manually updated the Offline Address Book, and manually downloaded the address book on the client, but that has not resolved the problem.

Is there something I have missed?  Is there some other step that needs to be performed to get all clients to use the new AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri and forget about all references to the old one?

Outlook freezes when forwarding or replying to email with blocked embedded content

$

Not sure if this is related to exchange version, but we have recently migrated to Exchange 2013, after, I tracked down an issue that is happening both in Outlook 2010 and 2016 (32 bit).

When an email contains embedded content that references external URLs, which are blocked by the firewall, if the user tries to forward the email, Outlook will start clocking.  The only work around is to make sure the external content is not downloaded, either via clicking no to downloading the external content and then forwarding, or using the trust center settings for automatic picture downloads to not permit it automatically.

Outlook does not freeze until the send button is clicked.  This issue can be reproduced on any computer and when outlook logging is enabled, nothing is logged.  There is an app hang error if the user tries to close out of Outlook when it is clocking.

Anyone seeing a similar issue?

Cannot Set Up OUTLOOK 365 - 2016 on Company Exchange Server on Surface Pro 2

OFFICE 365 2016

OUTLOOK CURRENT VERSION:  16.0.6001.1043

My OFFICE 365 subscription just renewed and updated programs to "2016".    Now I have issues with OUTLOOK using my workplace Microsoft Exchange.      OUTLOOK will not connect.    I went to REPAIR the account--- REPAIR was grayed out.   Therefore I deleted the account and tried to set up as a NEW account.

No longer are there windows to choose additional PROXY SETTINGS under CONNECTIONS.    And when i manually set up the account settings,   OUTLOOK cannot find the SERVER to connect.    However when I ping the IP address and SERVER name through Command Prompt,  my PC successfully finds the SERVER.

What has changed in this new update????  How do i set up for OUTLOOK using an EXCHANGE now?    I have had no issues for over a year with the prior version of OFFICE 365.

Thanks.

Shared mailbox - folders automatically collapse

$

Problem: Periodically the folders of a shared mailbox will automatically collapse and they will reorganize when users move messages, delete messages or traverse folders.

Attempted solutions:

new outlook profile, apply all outlook and windows updates, turn off cached mode, open outlook in safe mode, open outlook with no addins, sorting the folder multiple times, manually sorting the folders, disabled hardware acceleration, run outlook.exe /cleanviews, setting default view settings to all expanded, probably some more that I cannot remember.

More info:

This is the only shared mailbox experiencing this issue and we have hundreds of shared mailboxes. Every user who uses the mailbox has this problem. One thing I have noticed is that the users of this shared mailbox have custom categories. I cant seem to find any other shared mailbox with custom categories. Is there a known bug when using custom categories with shared mailboxes in outlook 2013?
