Outlook RT not connecting to Exchange

Outlook RT will not connect to our Exchange Server.  The W8 Mail app connects with no problem and have been using since the start.  It cannot resolve the username and will not connect even though it asks for and accepts my Exchange password.  I contacted Surface tech support and they were absolutely clueless.  No help at all.   Is there anything special that needs to be done on the MS Exchange side for Outlook for RT.  We connect with iDevices and W8 Phones using Activesync with no issues.  I realize this is a "Preview" release but you would think the tech support would at least propose some reasonable fix suggestions.  The support person seemed to be looking on blogs for help while I sat on the phone...dissapointing.

Outlook Web App Calendar: Attendee for meeting receives invite as winmail.dat

Hi,

I'm using Outlook Web App on Chrome (Mac OS) and I've created a calendar event, added attendees, and sent out the invite.  One of the people I invited received their invite as a winmail.dat.  They cannot see the "accept" nor the "decline" button, only the winmail.dat attachment.  Does anyone have any hints as to why this is happening and how I might resolve this issue?  Is there a way to send the calendar invitation in plain text format while still allowing the recipient to RSVP?  Please let me know.

Exchange 2013 CU9, after applying CU9 OWA comes up with the above error. In the HttpProxy logs I can see the following error;

NegotiateSecurityContext failed with for host 'domain.local' with status 'LogonDenied' at Microsoft.Exchange.HttpProxy.KerberosUtilities.GenerateKerberosAuthHeader

They are using FBA and we can log into the ECP just fine.

Change Password Fields:

1: Domain\User name (changes to Email)

I am using exchange 2013 with multiple domains. When user create a new email i am setting option 'Reset Password on next logon'. Email is not related to root domain example if root domain is @abc.com then user email may be @xyz.com.So the problem is how can user change password with his/her email not with root domain abc\administrator.

I have also set the login option with UPN in exchange admin. Is there any command to do so or setting?

Bad request in OWA with Exchange 2010 when click on a link

Goodmorning,

I hope someone can help me.

We have Exchange server 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 R2.

The issue is: when users login to Outlook Web Access and click on a link in a mail they get directly a bad request error. So users cannot open links in e-mails with OWA. Some links works well and other links give a bad request. When I sent this emails to my Hotmail I can open this links without any problem. Is this a problem on our Exchange server or is this a problem of the people that create this emails? When I click on the link a new tab opens and this link has 3392 characters. Maybe is that the issue but in Hotmail it works fine and the link has 244 characters.

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards,

Marijn

Hi ,

we have exchange server 2013 and recently acquire office 2016. we installed it on some clients and we noticed that within the company network, we could connect to the exchange server but once we connect to an external connection such as adsl, we lost the connection to the exchange server.

We noticed that there is no connection tab in the user profile to connect rpc over http. Another thing is there must be something with autodiscover.

any idea how to resolve this issue?

Whenever I want to schedule a meeting or print an email I have an error saying "Not implemented"

How can I fix it? It appears it started happening when I agree to update it.

Expired Emails

We have users who randomly see emails in their Outlook clients with a strike through the email. We are only using MAPI (No POP3 or IMAP). What we noticed is, there is always 1 specific person involved with these emails. I have confirmed with them that when they send the emails, they are not setting them to expire. Also, their default Outlook setting is not to expire the emails.

I'm seeing it randomly for some users in their inbox, or sent items.  The items are not even close to reaching the retention policy

Has anyone ever seen this, or know what could possibly cause it?  To clarify, there are many different people seeing the strike through, but it's always emails that involve 1 particular person.

Not sure if there is anything on the exchange server that I could check for this

"The Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook"

We have a small organization with a couple dozen users. The owner got a new laptop and we got Outlook 2013 setup on it and connected to the Exchange 2013 server.

After a few weeks he owner started getting an error message ""The Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook". I'm not sure what the issue is.

Then yesterday I get another more vocal user complaining of the same error message. This message pops up about every 10min but mail flow is not affected. Everything is working as normal besides the error message.

Any ideas? We have been running on Exchange 2013 for 8 months and this is the first time this issue has popped up. No changed were made to Exchange before these started popping up.

Outlook 2016 - Out of Office?

I am trying to turn on my out of office in Outlook 2016.  This is one feature I thought would be fairly standard, but it appears I cannot do this if I am not using Microsoft Exchange Server.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?  I will do it through gmail, but it would be nice to use outlook for these things.

Thanks!

On-premises autodiscover failed

When we test the on-premises autodiscover, the result is failed. Could you please help fix it? Thank you in advance.
We have Exchange 2013 edge deployed in DMZ, so autodiscover message from Public is reaching Exchange edge, it is then refusing the connection on port 80 & 443.

Does Exchange edge support Autodiscover ?

Password Prompt In Outlook 2013 For Internal Users (During OAB Update)

$

We have a exchange 2013 server that started to suddenly password prompt users when they are setup to the exchange server internally.

So here what is going on:

- We updated our SSL certificate + internal name to external name by redoing the autodiscovery to point to mail.domain.com instead of mail.domain.local so that we can renew our server SSL before the Nov 1 2015 dateline. That went fine and we didn't seem to have any issues for the past month.

- Today the onsite firewall died. We swapped it out. After that happened, clients started to get outlook password prompts every second as soon as Outlook launches. We checked the firewall and compared it to another FW at another client site, same rules (HTTPS+ SMTP forwarded to the mail server).

- I tried a few things including trying to add "authenticated users" with read access to the OAB directory + also trying enabling kernel-mode authentication for IIS for several items: autodiscover, rpc, ews, oab.

Currently the internalauthmode is set to "NTLM", external is set to "nego" and IISAuthMode is set to all 3 "Nego, NTLM, BASIC" after checking outlookanywhere. the addresses are all pointed to "www.domain.com" for anywhere autodiscovery.

Right now we are using a workaround which is to turn off caching for the mail server outlook settings but this isn't a great solution for us as they will still get password prompts when they lose even a second of connection or other network problems like slowness or overload.

My boss thinks it might be a SSL certificate, I am willing to work someone to look at if I did it all correctly but I honestly not sure where to go from here with this problem. i have the instructions or steps i use to update everything for the SSL certificate so if anyone needs to look over what I have done, I more then willing to share to deal with this password prompt problem.

Meetings created after some time start shoing up "re-created a meeting that was missing from your calendar" with no body information e.g. Lync meeting

My manager is having a problem.  "randomly" reoccurring meetings in outlook will after some time start showing as this:

"Exchange 2013 re-created a meeting that was missing from your calendar"

With all the "meat" of the body is missing.

We are running Exchange 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2013.  They look the same in OWA.  Meetings can be from different senders, different times etc.

Any thoughts?

Outlook users randomly losing delegate folders and Exchange archive

$

I have Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2013 in Online mode. I recently rolled out VDI (View) and an odd issue has come up that wasn't happening before. Every once and a while a user will randomly lose their delegate folders, exchange archive and shared items but still have complete access to their exchange mailbox. Removing the mail profile from Windows 7 and re-adding it seems to fix it.

One interesting piece of info is that I noticed the user that is logged into one of my Outlook Plugins is PublicFolder@<domain>.com, again this is fixed once we recreate the mail profile.

I'm not sure what is causing this and why it would be any different in my VDI environment versus my old physical desktops as everything is setup the same.
