That is the only item in RED, all others are either blue or black.

Need explanation and

Any idea of how this got generated? How dangerous it is?  how to control over such infiltrations?

Email Migration

Hi there

What is the process to be followed for best practise on the following scenario:

1. I have 12 users who is not on the domain and has email set up at a cloud based ISP.

2. These users will be joined to the domain shortly, and I will create new email accounts per user respectively.

3. The question I have is how do I manage to import or migrate their mailboxes from the ISP to their Exchange accounts?

Will signatures and their current email addresses be migrated as well? And will their current email address still be valid once migrated?

Thanks

Presence icon missing in Outlook 2013 and 2016

Hi all,

some of our users are experiencing issue with missing presence icon on the left side:

They do not see this icon, only user name. Presence is working fine if we hover over the name and contact card shows up. In OWA it is also working as expected.

Tried both Outlook 2013 and 2016 with same issue. Disabled and also enabled hardware acceleration without any help.

If same account is logged in on another pc, it works fine so it is local issue.

I suspect it is because the issue pc has 4k monitor, we tried different DPI and screen resolution without any help. Even external monitor in difference size has this issue.

Tried GFX driver from pc manufactor, Windows update and also GFX provider without any help.

Seems like this is a known issue from earlier client:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2726007

This registry did not help since path shown in the link does not exist. (Common\PersonaMenu and Common\IM).

Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Computer is brand new and it is an annoying bug, since our users have to hover to see their presence.

Thanks!

Exchange 2013 / Outlook 2013 Folder deletion issue

Hi

Have an issue with inability to remove deleted folders from the recycle bin in outlook.

Running in Cached mode with no sync errors. Have tried recreating the profile.

Ive reapplied ACLS directly to the user on these folders in Outlook and via Exchange cmdlets, however i get the following message with regards to permissions still:

Cannot delete this folder: right click the folder, and then click properties to check your permissions for the folder. See the folder owner or your administrator to change your permissions, some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved, or already deleted, or access was denied.

In this scenario, im logged in with one user and then opening a delegate mailbox of which i have full mbx permission to.

Its the deleted items in the delegate i cant remove.

Any insight appreciated.

Exchange 2013 Mailbox Migration, Outlook 2010 Woes

Hi, I'm in the process of deploying Exchange 2013. Most appears to have gone to plan but I'm having issues when migrating a mailbox to an Exchange 2013 database when the client is using Outlook 2010 (99% of our users are on Outlook 2010!).

I'll post a few screenshots below to try and explain the problem.

Firstly a 2013 mailbox on Outlook 2013 appears to connect correctly:

If I migrate a mailbox of a user with Outlook 2010 I get the following error message on startup and a partial connect in the status window:

After several weeks searching on this issue I did find that adding the follow registry entry would work:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider]
"DS Server"="<LOCAL GC SERVER>"

Unfortunately this fix only works internally, externally it obviously can't find the GC server.

I thought this would point to a potential DNS issue? But seems odd that it's the global catalog server it's struggling to find. I've done various network lookups and the servers are returned as expected.

Also, if I remove the registry key above and try to recreate the account I get the following:

Adding the key back in and it'll discover the account and set it up with no problems!

I'm also puzzled by the certificate warnings. I've looked everywhere on the Exchange 2013 servers and can't see any self signed certificates being used. We have a GoDaddy SAN certificate and all the relevant names are present.

Using Get-OutlookProvider command no hostname, etc is listed. I'm reluctant to add anything in here as our 2010 and 2013 hostname differ.

I'm really struggling to think of anything else to try and fear I'm probably making it worse by constantly adjusting settings all over the place to try and resolve it.

At present OWA, ActiveSync and ECP is working fine for both 2010 and 2013 mailboxes (2013 is routing correctly), it's just Outlook that's having problems. Unfortunately it will be a while before our company moves to Outlook 2013.

I would appreciate any help you can offer!

Hi,

I am having trouble getting Outlook 2016 to sync with an on-prem exchange 2010 server. Auto discover is enabled, but does not seem to work properly.

This issue was not present with Outlook 2013, and I can connect to an office 365 hosted mailbox.

Any advice on what I can try to do to resolve this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Unable to search To-Do List

I have an issue where users cannot search their To-Do list using Outlook 2013 (15.0.4569.1503 64-bit) which are on an Exchange 2013 (v15.0.995.29). The users have no problem with using our terminal server which (due to other software requirements) is restricted to Outlook 2010 (14.0.7128.5000 32-bit). The versions indicated here aren't really that important, as our users have always had access to searching To-Do from Outlook 2010 through the many updates, but never on Outlook 2013 again through any updates.

As an aside, I have tried with the 32-bit version of Outlook 2013 and this did not work.

These are currently installed on Windows 8.1, but I have the same issue on Windows 8 and Windows 7.

I have rebuild search indexes on the exchange server. I have created new databases and moved the mailbox.

This is happening for all our users.

The MVPs over at Outlook suggest this is an Exchange issue. Does anyone have any suggestions???

MAPI over HTTP and Play on Phone - mutually exclusive?

$

I've recently upgraded an Exchange environment from 2007 to 2013 SP1.  A lingering issue has been that the play on phone functionality doesn't work from Outlook 2010 or 2013 clients.  When attempting to use this function, a message indicating "The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service cannot be contacted to play messages on your phone.  Try again later.  If this problem continues, contact your Exchange administrator or support organization" is displayed.  Additionally, the"Manage Voice Mail" button does not appear under the File menu in either of these two clients.  Using Play on Phone from OWA, however, works fine, as does managing voice mail from within OWA.

I've tried manipulating the authentication methods used by the EWS, ECP and OWA virtual directories as well as resetting/recreating them and trying different combinations.  I've confirmed the Microsort Exchange Add-in for Outlook is enabled.  I tried manipulating the authentication methods used by the MAPI virtual directory.  All this to no avail.  I scoured the web trying to figure out how Play on Phone works.  Late last night (rather early this morning), after reading the linked article for the 10th or 20th time (in spite of the fact that I couldn't find any of the attributes referenced in ADSIEdit), I latched onto the phrase "When the User clicks the Play on Phone Icon on his Voicemail  form Outlook a RPC over HTTPS request is send to the Exchange CAS"and decided to see what the effect of forcing a RPC over HTTPS connection between client and server would be.  Lo and behold, a registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\"MapiHttpDisabled"=dword:00000001 and a (forced) autodiscover later and Play on Phone is functional.

So - is it possible to use Mapi over HTTP and retain the Play on Phone functionality in Outlook 2010 or 2013?  I hope so, because it looks like forcing RPC over HTTP isn't going to be an option in Outlook 2016.

Thanks,

Stan

Autodiscover second domain

$

Hi There,

I've setup a Exchange Server 2013 CU9 environment with 2 DC's and 2 Mailbox/CAS servers
Autodiscover is succesfully working with my domain, in this example working.com

I also have a second domain, in this example not-working.com
The problem is, it does not pick up autodiscover the way i want on Android and iPhone.
I have to insert server and email/username before is starts working/accepting

Basic Auth for autodiscover, owa and active-sync have the default domain working.com but it does not work (clear field does also not work)
SRV record for not-working.com to working.com is active, and also an A record of autodiscover.not-working.com is pointing to the two Mailbox/CAS servers.

Also on outlook, it asks for the credentials before it;s accepting the "Searching for ...... settings" for the domain not-working.com

Any idea what i'm missing?

Do you want to allow *internal domain* to use additional storage on your computer

$

Hello All-

I am trying to figure out how to completely disable the IE11 prompt for offline storage when using Exchange 2013 Outlook Web App "Do you want to allow office *internal domain* to use additional storage on your computer".  Here is what I have done already:

1.  Configured my Outlook Web App policy to NEVER under the offline access section

2.  Ran command Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -Identity "owa (Default Web Site)" -AllowOfflineOn NoComputers

3.  Reset IIS on CAS by running IISReset /noforce

In IE 11, users are continuing to get the prompts to allow for additional storage, exceed storage, etc. even though I have disabled Offline Access on Exchange (the options menu is now void of any offline settings link).  In fact, the only way I have been able to stop these annoying prompts is to uncheck the "Allow website caches and databases" check box in IE 11 under Website Data Settings.  I don't want to do this because there are some websites that we use that do cache data and I'd like to keep those working.

Is there a step I have missed to completely disable the offline storage prompts from Exchange 2013 OWA users, short of turning off caching on IE?

Set a custom task view for all users

I have set up a custom task form and view that will need to be viewed by many remote users.  It also needs to be "editable" by our local users.  We are set up under Microsoft Exchange and using Office 2013.  The task folder is set up on a "public" drive and I have been allowed administrative rights to my folder but it is housed on a corporate server of which I do not have administrative rights.  I am trying to figure out how to "share" my task custom view and custom form with my many users.  I have had no success with trying to "share" the folder via email since the custom view does not copy over to the users computer.  Any suggestions?

Read receipts are sent when email is archived IMAP

I have a customer that has about 30 users configured with IMAP using Outlook 2007 - 2013 (mixed).

One user complained of getting a ton of read receipts from at least three different people after I archived their emails.

Is this a bug in Exchange?  I've never seen this before and i've been archiving their mail for quite a few years.

Btw...we're using IMAP on a hosted Exchange server, i'm not sure what version they're using.

We are using MS Surface with Windows 10 and love interacting with Cortana. However, it seems that Cortana is unable to access or unaware of the corporate/exchange calendar managed via Outlook 2013/2016.

We are neither able to set reminders nor able to get answers to question like - hey cortana, at what time is my next meeting.
