Account not recognized

Started out with my phone not finding my office 365 email server and creating a pseudo account at live.com. This has escalated to my desktop where outlook 2013 suddenly stopped authenticating and now reports it does not recognize my login credentials. I upgraded to office 2016 by logging into my account at office 365 (which still allows me to login to my webmail) but "no joy" as it still does not find my account on either my Iphone or my desktop.

This is obviously an internal error as my laptop (win 8.1 with office 2013 which I downloaded from my 365 account dashboard) is working fine.

I have an office 365 small business account ... and I am very frustrated with the quality of service and support.

Exchange 2013 Autodiscover not providing OAB URL.

Hi,

I have two mailbox servers and 3 client access servers which until recently were working correctly.  There have been no changes to my knowledge but all of a sudden the OAB cannot be downloaded by any Outlook 2013 clients.  Upon checking the Test-Autoconfiguration, autodiscover is not passing the OAB URL's.

I have run get offlineaddressbook and one is available.  The system mailbox is mounted and has updated the directory on the Mailbox server and I can reach it through a web browser.  The is also one of the Client Access servers set as a virtual directory (CA3\OAB (Default Web Site).

The URL's are all looking correct, both internally and externally.

I am not sure that recreating the OAB will fix this issue and any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Autodiscover second domain

Hi There,

I've setup a Exchange Server 2013 CU9 environment with 2 DC's and 2 Mailbox/CAS servers
Autodiscover is succesfully working with my domain, in this example working.com

I also have a second domain, in this example not-working.com
The problem is, it does not pick up autodiscover the way i want on Android and iPhone.
I have to insert server and email/username before is starts working/accepting

Basic Auth for autodiscover, owa and active-sync have the default domain working.com but it does not work (clear field does also not work)
SRV record for not-working.com to working.com is active, and also an A record of autodiscover.not-working.com is pointing to the two Mailbox/CAS servers.

Also on outlook, it asks for the credentials before it;s accepting the "Searching for ...... settings" for the domain not-working.com

Any idea what i'm missing?

POP3/SPA issue

I have successfully setup and can send/receive email from Outlook 2010 to Exchange to Internet but have a strange issue.  I am trying to use POP3/SPA but sometimes the SPA works and sometimes it doesn't -- does anyone know the defining setting in the GUI to make SPA work?  The server sat in my testing space for a week and it worked -- I then came back to it after being away for a few days and ran the connectivity test in Outlook again before I was going to put it into production and it doesn't work anymore.  I am the only person who set it up and POP/Outlook works without it.  I am using Exchange 2013 CU9 on Server 2008 R2.  I tried resetting the server and restarting the POP/POP backend services.

Single Outlook for Mac 2011 user connectivity issue.

I have a single user who cannot connect through outlook for mac or mac mail. The user can connect via OWA and Outlook 2013 for windows just fine, and i have tested other user accounts in outlook 2011 for mac with success, but whenever i try to add this one user account to the mac, it doesn't autodiscover the server info, so i have to manually put it in and it doesn't prompt saying there was any issues but it never really connects or syncs. Any thoughts?

MAPI over HTTP and Play on Phone - mutually exclusive?

$

0

I've recently upgraded an Exchange environment from 2007 to 2013 SP1.  A lingering issue has been that the play on phone functionality doesn't work from Outlook 2010 or 2013 clients.  When attempting to use this function, a message indicating "The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service cannot be contacted to play messages on your phone.  Try again later.  If this problem continues, contact your Exchange administrator or support organization" is displayed.  Additionally, the"Manage Voice Mail" button does not appear under the File menu in either of these two clients.  Using Play on Phone from OWA, however, works fine, as does managing voice mail from within OWA.

I've tried manipulating the authentication methods used by the EWS, ECP and OWA virtual directories as well as resetting/recreating them and trying different combinations.  I've confirmed the Microsort Exchange Add-in for Outlook is enabled.  I tried manipulating the authentication methods used by the MAPI virtual directory.  All this to no avail.  I scoured the web trying to figure out how Play on Phone works.  Late last night (rather early this morning), after reading the linked article for the 10th or 20th time (in spite of the fact that I couldn't find any of the attributes referenced in ADSIEdit), I latched onto the phrase "When the User clicks the Play on Phone Icon on his Voicemail  form Outlook a RPC over HTTPS request is send to the Exchange CAS"and decided to see what the effect of forcing a RPC over HTTPS connection between client and server would be.  Lo and behold, a registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\"MapiHttpDisabled"=dword:00000001 and a (forced) autodiscover later and Play on Phone is functional.

So - is it possible to use Mapi over HTTP and retain the Play on Phone functionality in Outlook 2010 or 2013?  I hope so, because it looks like forcing RPC over HTTP isn't going to be an option in Outlook 2016.

Thanks,

Stan

Hi,

I do have a Exchange server 2010 & Exchange server 2013 in co-existence mode, I have been trying to migrate all the users from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. My Exchange server 2010 is working fine and good with clients, I am just moving to upgrade exchange server. While doing the test migration of few users, i found web and active sync is working fine. But I am having issue with Outlook connection. Every-time i tried to connect it appear an error of "The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." although in Exchange 2010 outlook connection is good.

I checked the certificate also.. it is good.

can anyone help me on this please?

shared mailbox issue

I have recently had 2 additional email boxes added to my outlook profile. When I send email from those boxes I have the following issue:  my response comes to the inbox of the shared box instead of to the sent items of the shared box.  It shows up in my sent folder instead of the shared box sent folder.  I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that we have missed but I sure can't find it.  Also...the search option only searches in emails that have been sent to my personal box instead of the shared box.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

We have an Windows Server 2012 Exchange 2013 server with OWA.

All users can login fine, but when I open another mailbox with my Admin account, having enabled access to that user's mailbox, the URL redirects to /owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500 and shows:

something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk

Google won't help me in this instance. Where in the eventlog are OWA events logged?

Clear everyone's Outlook cache

$

I need to re-create the mail-enabling on about 30 public folders, which will result in a new GUID, which will invalidate any entries for these addresses in a user's Outlook cache.   I know there's no centralized way to remove individual items from everyone's Outlook cache, so I would like to be able to delete everyone's Outlook cache entirely.

Almost all of our clients are using Outlook 2010.  I know that in earlier versions you could delete the .NK2 file to clear the Outlook cache, but that is not true with Outlook 2010.  I tried renaming the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\RoamCache\Stream_Autocomplete_0_<long GUID>.dat file on my own workstation as a test, but Outlook recreated the file, presumably from suggested contacts.

Is there a way to delete everyone's Outlook cache without having to go into each user's Outlook?  We have the capability of pushing file deletions, registry entries, etc out to every user, but I don't want to deal with telling everyone how to navigate to the "Empty Auto-Complete List" button in Outlook mail options. I am looking for a centralized solution that we can impose on everyone without individual intervention.

Thank you very much for your help with this.

Office 365 support for Outlook 2016

Hi,

My organisation is using Office365 hosted on a private cloud.

I'm able to use Outlook 2010 & 2013 for the Office 365 account. But now I'm unable to configure the Office 365 account to Outlook 2016. Since there is no possibility of adding Microsoft Exchange Server Or Compatible service to configure and couldn't enable the proxy settings as well.

How to get rid of this problem. Any one facing similar kind of issues.

Thanks

Outlook to Exchange Sync Problem with "Views" - Sync between Outlook client and Exchange Server seems not consistent

$

I'm having problems syncing Outlook's Views between the Outlook client and Outlook Exchange. (Problem replicated on three machines.  Using Office 365, Outlook 2013 on one machine, Outlook 2016 on two machines.)

When I run Outlook, without being in the Cached Exchange Mode, and make any custom changes to Views (in the inbox, tasks, etc.), those views will eventually get propagated down to my Outlook client in Cached Exchange Mode, but not always.  Also, the reverse is "not" true: Modifying a custom view in Outlook running in Cached Exchange Mode does not necessarily result in those changes syncing back up to the Exchange Server.  Would anyone know why?

I've done a lot of testing on this and I can fully replicate the problem.  The only way I've been able to ensure that the custom Views I've created get properly propagated back to an Outlook client running in Cached Exchange Mode is to create a new e-mail profile and when it syncs up with the server, it grabs the Views off the server and replicates them on to the client.  Sometimes, the client's views will get fully updated, sometimes not fully so.

However, if I make some changes to those views on the Outlook client running in Cached Exchange Mode, those changes will not always sync back up to Exchange.

The Office Technet Forum suggests I reset the views on my client, but that seems not the problem.  If I do that I will lose my views and will have to rebuild.  I have 9 views in Tasks that I would really not like to rebuild if possible.

Let me underscore, any client I connect to the Exchange Server (via Office 365) will indeed pull down the views up on Exchange.  The reverse is not necessarily so.  A view altered on the client does not always update the Exchange sever.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks.

Since updating iPhone to ios9, calendar no longer shows any events in owa

This is reproducible on any ios9 device in our Exchange 2013 organization.  If a user opens the safari browser to our OWA page in order to view shared calendars, the calendars have no items on them.

We've cleared the safari cookies and history data and tried again, but no dice.

We do use Maas360 MDM and the native IOS applications, however the OWA website is the only way we have figured out to date how to view other people's calendars that are shared with you.  We do know there is an OWA ios app, but it does not work with DUO multi factor authentication, so we just had the users use the built in iPhone browser.

Will this html code be fixed in a future exchange update to be standards compliant, or is the issue with the iPhone safari browser?  I will cross post to apple discussion forums as well to get both perspectives.

Outlook does always auto detect a slow(far) site DAG server how to change it?

Hi.

We've got 2 Exchange 2013 Servers. (both CAS and Mailbox, and both mailbox server form a DAG)

As we got 2 owa address.

like this

https://office.domain.com/owa   (office)

https://backup.domain.com/owa  (slower data center site)

We don't have autodiscover record on internet domain. I do manually setup the outlook anywhere for people use notebooks. And use backup.domain.com/owa (for a more stable connection from oversea)

In office, PCs are in AD domain and outlook can autodiscover the  server address. (Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013)

The problem is outlook always detect the server using: backup.domain.com, which in outlook anywhere settings, the address shows https://backup.domain.com/owa and msstd://backup.domain.com.

This is I don't want to happen. If I manually change the settings to office.domain.com, it seems sometime it will switch backup to backup.doamin.com.

Can someone tell me how can I modify this settting to make office outlook auto discover the server use office.doamin.com?

Hi,

While trying to send mail from OWA, its getting stuck showing sending option. From outlook client, the mail is held at outbox and will be delivered if we close and open outlook. Checked the same using outlook /safe with cache mode enabled and we were able to send mail. But after unchecking the cache mode, outlook also get stuck.

Any Known solution for this.

Using outlook 2013 client in exchange 2013 environment.
