Autodiscover not working on internal network

$

Hi! Hoping someone can help

New Exchange 2013 SP1 on Server 2012 R2.  I think I've done everything in the setup guide, Cert seems to be working, though when I access EAC from start icon I get cert error, accessing from browser with internal domain works with no error.

Outlook does not work with autodiscover.  First question, it shows external email address for user, is that supposed to be?  It doesn't need to go outside.  The external domain is still configured for the former Exchange 2003 server and has no autodiscover record in DNS.  For now just want to get it working internally.  So I change the user during the autodiscover process to the internal domain email address.  I get "There is a problem with the proxy server's security cert...."  and "The connection to Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable..."

Have seen lots of posts on this in my last 20 hours of research!  But no answers!

Thanks

Limit access to ECP by IP/domain Access Rules in IIS doesn't work....

$

Good afternoon, all!

Hardening my test Exchange stack by installing IP and Domain Restrictions to IIS.  I set up a test rule to allow access to an IP address not my own and deny everything else.  IIS still allows a login and access to the ECP.  This happens even with a server reboot, and iisreset, and using a fresh browser session.  I need to test this and have certitude that it will work before I include it in my production build.

I do have RSA SecurID working on the CAS, so I'm not completely open to every evil bad guy that wanders across my Exchange server, but I'd really like to have the extra protection.

Disabling ECP access is not an option for me as I don't work in PowerShell every day.  My colleagues also would need Web interface access as well.

Any thoughts as to why this may not be working as advertised?

Thanks for looking!

Since updating iPhone to ios9, calendar no longer shows any events in owa

This is reproducible on any ios9 device in our Exchange 2013 organization.  If a user opens the safari browser to our OWA page in order to view shared calendars, the calendars have no items on them.

We've cleared the safari cookies and history data and tried again, but no dice.

We do use Maas360 MDM and the native IOS applications, however the OWA website is the only way we have figured out to date how to view other people's calendars that are shared with you.  We do know there is an OWA ios app, but it does not work with DUO multi factor authentication, so we just had the users use the built in iPhone browser.

Will this html code be fixed in a future exchange update to be standards compliant, or is the issue with the iPhone safari browser?  I will cross post to apple discussion forums as well to get both perspectives.

OWA won't connect to 2010 accounts from 2013

I have exchange 2013 and 2010 installed and I'm in co-existence mode. Everything is working correctly except OWA. When I login with an account that has been moved to 2013 it works perfect but when I try to login with an account that is still on the 2010 server I get the ":( Sorry, something went wrong" message.

Outlook Anywhere and ActiveSync also works fine to access mailboxes on either server.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks!

Cortana doesn't read Exchange Calendar

We are using MS Surface with Windows 10 and love interacting with Cortana. However, it seems that Cortana is unable to access or unaware of the corporate/exchange calendar managed via Outlook 2013/2016.

We are neither able to set reminders nor able to get answers to question like - hey cortana, at what time is my next meeting.

Working with multiple calendars at the same time (Outlook 2013 & Exchange 2013) - Very Slow - Unusable

Hi All,

We migrated away from Lotus Notes to Exchange/Outlook 2013 on premise. This is a great deal for us. We now face some issues which hit mostly our assistants. We work globally, Exchange infrastructure is setup centrally. Our users connect form all over the world. Assistants daily job is to manage their executives schedules and therefore access most of the time other calendars and of course this of their bosses at the same time to book/arrange possible meeting times. As further away we go from the central datacenter and the Exchange frame, we experience that the Outlook 2013 client becomes unresponsive when trying to work with several calendars at the same time. The clients (in this case the assistant) does have a local Outlook 2013 client installed and her personal profile is cashed. She has full access (delegation server side) onto her bosses calendar while other calendars are just opened in a standard way as if you do a calendar lookup of someone else without having special permissions. The assistant in this case does work in her bosses calendar which she has the required access levels and the delegation setup.

It is clear to me that once she does work in her own calendar, that she accesses her cashed local copy of information and once she is using her bosses calendar, she works in an online/server delivered model which as well applies if she would access other calendars to arrange a certain meeting.

The slow performance of this is very unsatisfactory causes our assistance, not only but mainly in remote locations a headache working every day. I do wonder if anyone has advice or tips and tricks on how to do things better or check on Exchange 2013 configuration side or enable the client to perform the data lookups speedier.

As we talk her about WAN/LAN performance, please note that we have Riverbed technology in place to provide support in remote locations to faster get to data that is sitting in it's stores centrally.

I appreciate any comments, feedbacks, suggestions and thoughts.

Sincere, Danny

Exchange 2016 autodiscover issue

Hi all,

I have installed Exchange 2016 and everything is working except autodiscover for Outlook 2013.When setup using active sync (mobile) it works fine.

When setup in Outlook (new profile) I enter Name,E-mail and password. Then click next and it prompt for username and password. I then get message I need to restart outlook for changes to take effect. When start Outlook I get error :

"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

Both internal and external dns,the autodiscover record is correct and I can see in TMG that the request was forwardet to Exchange server.

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory  is showing correct info (internal and external) :https://mail.domain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx and I can browse it fine

Get-clientaccessServer : https://mail.domain.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml is giving me error 600 code.

When run https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com the autodiscover url is showing domain.com instead of autodiscover.domain.com.

What am I missing?

Server has rebooted and error is on multiple computers (outside domain)

thanks!

Turning Outlook Cache on & Off

$

Windows 2012R2 Domain

Using Roaming Profiles for all users.

All but 3 machines are laptops.  The users have Outlook 2013 with cache enabled via GPO.

The 3 desktops are shared by everyone, so for these machines we have created a GPO that turns Outlook caching off.

It works, with one problem.  When the users return to their laptop Outlook fails to start with an "unable to create outlook.ost" error.  The Outlook Profile is pointing to the correct file and the OST is there.

Going to test the "Do not create new OST file on upgrade" policy to see if that fixes it.

Any additional thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks >> Joe

Hi,

My exchange server at work is now aaalmost up and running.
One account/computer is giving me a hard time because it cannot connect to the proxyserver because of error code 8 "Proxyservers certificate".

I have connected 30 other devices without any problems and at least 10 of them are the exact same modell.
I have managed the whole "trusted root certificate" before when I got this error message on all computers but now it is just one.

Password change prompts in Outlook - where?

$

Server: Exchange 2013
Client: Outlook 2010

When signing into outlook, there isn't a prompt for the user to change his/her password after a predefined period of time set by AD policy.

So If the AD policy is set to every 6 months a user has to change their password, and when the same users logs into outlook 2010 after that time period they are not getting a prompt that the password needs to be changed.

Is there a way to turn this on so they do get notified.
Of course, in OWA, there is a prompt to change the password........

Single User unable to mail users internal organisation

$

Hello,

my issue started 6 days ago, when a single user reported not being able to mail any user within our exchange organization.

The user could mail external addresses but not internal addresses saved in her own contacts. This returns: '550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found'.

When selecting those same internal users in the OAB directly makes them mailable again. Deleting those contacts from the users contact list and then mailing them from the OAB enables them for the rest of the day.

we are working with an on-premise exchange 2013 solution. The issue re-occurs every day. No other users reported this same issue.

So to Recap:

1) Internal Users in the affected users contacts become unusable every day or two
2) The OAB information is correct for the affected user and works fine
3) no other users are being affected

Disable Change Photo - Exchange Server 2013

Auto-discover headache

Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2003 as part of 2003 SBS. This is soon to become Office 365 with MS hosted Exchange, but we are not quite there yet and need help with this issue in the meantime.

After changing the default e-mail domain from one domain to another (e-mail for both domains is hosted on this Exchange 2003 server), already-working Outlook 2010 Exchange clients are now popping up this message at startup and periodically during the day:

Allow this website to configure [UserName]@[MyDomain].com server settings?
https://autodiscover.bluehost.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml.

The user checks the box to quit notifying, then clicks Cancel, and things just repeat. Clicking OK just adds the BlueHost address to the list of redirect servers in HKCU\oftware\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers. That, of course, does no good because BlueHost is nothing more than our domain hosting service, and where we have MX records redirecting mail to our in-house Exchange server.

This, in itself, is a mere nuisance. However, when I grant one user rights to another user's mailbox (on the server) and then attempt to open the mailbox (Account Settings -> More Settings -> Advanced -> Add), the same message pops up and will never allow the user to open the other user's mailbox. This is a show-stopper.

It is not rights-related; it is Outlook 2010-related (but the Outlook forum folks told me to bring my question here). The problem does not occur on our last remaining Outlook 2003 computer.

None of the auto-discovery registry entries refers to BlueHost, and there is no auto-discover record on my local DNS server. In fact, I have never configured anything related to auto-discover, since this is an Exchange 2003 server.
