Recalling a message in Outlook | Office 365

Hello,

I no longer have a Recall selection in my Outlook after having been upgraded to Outlook using Office 365.

I have read where a) I need to open the message itself, and b) look under the Actions sub-menu.  I have done this and I have no Actions sub-menu at all.  I've looked to try and add it from the Customize Ribbon command but I cannot find it there either.

I tried to attach an image for your review.

RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE with Remote Connectivity Analyzer

Dear Forum,

trying to migrate some accounts to O365 I am stuck with the above mentioned error of the connectivity analyzer trying to ping the MAPI Store. Everything else seems to work ok, and even our Outlook clients seem to do well.

Trying rpcping on the Exchange server 2013 CU9 shows the same strange error:

rpcping -t ncacn_http -s exchange.contoso.local -o RpcProxy=webmail.contoso.com -P "user,DOMAIN,*" -I "user,DOMAIN,*" -H Basic -u NTLM -a connect -F 3 -f a4f1db00-ca47-1067-b31f-00dd010662da,0

gives

Error in RpcEpResolveBinding - 1722 (000006ba)

A telnet connection to port 6001 is possible. Is there any possible way to debug this error?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Best regards,
John

Employee-Number attribute blank in Outlook form "Details Template Editor"

$

I have found that if I add the Employee-Number attribute to any Outlook form in the Exchange "Details Template Editor" form, it displays blank information.   This is true for Employee-Number, Employee-Type, and strangely also for Extension-Name.  All other attributes in the drop down seem to work properly.

I have found some forum references to some people encountering the same problem, but I do not see a resolution or explanation.

I understand the concept of each attribute in AD needing a MAPIID in order for it to appear in the Template Editor drop down, but these are already set up and these are in the default list of available attributes.

The curious thing is that this problem does not appear in our production AD.  Somehow, it is displaying the correct data for the Employee-Number attribute, but I am unable to duplicate this in any subsequent lab or AD environment.

I have tested this on a clean AD install, 2008R2, and Exch2010 and 2013.

I am looking for any explanation from a Microsoft person on whether this is something that can be "fixed" in our test AD, or if we should avoid using this field in our production environment since it is unpredictable and not reproducible.

RSA SecurID on OWA - affects ECP as well - DO NOT WANT!

$

Good afternoon, all!

I'm working on setting up OWA with two-factor authentication using RSA SecurID.  I usedthis site to set up IIS on the Exchange Default Web Site and when I connect to the OWA URL I get the expected SecurID login.  However, I also get the RSA SecurID login when I try and open the ECP site.  This I don't want, as the Exchange administrator won't have a token.  The desired behaviour is for OWA to be protected by RSA and be available through a reverse proxy to the Internet, and for ECP to have the standard Exchange web login and only be accessible from the local private network.  Since I don't work in Exchange every day I need the ECP web interface.

After some IIS inspection with my boss we found that ECP uses the OWA forms-based login to pass credentials along to the Exchange backend.  This is apparently expected behaviour, but it would seem that I should be able to separate OWA's RSA protection from ECP, even though ECP is using OWA login routines.

I have one possible workaround where I define a new A/D user to only manage Exchange and be limited strictly to that role, and then define that user in RSA Authentication Manager as NOT using a token, only a passphrase.  This is less than ideal, but it may be workable given the circumstances.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience with SecurID and managed to find a workable solution?  I managed an Exchange 2003 installation about ten years ago and am new to IIS, so apologies for missing the simple solution.

Thanks in advance for any help and direction on this!

Outlook Displaying DisplayName and Email Address in reply mail after updating Outlook to 15.0.4745.1000

$

We recently patched out office environment and Outlook updated to version 15.0.4745.1000. Whenever a reply is sent, the previous sender and all of the recipients show below (as expected) but instead of just mail address, DisplayName and EmailAddress properties are shown. If sending to a DL, of say 70 users, this expands and shows all 70 users addresses and display names clogging up the feed - it looks like the below -

does anyone know how to ensure that outlook only shows either the mail address or the display name?

Thanks

Outlook gets Authentication Error on IMAP4 on Exchange 2013 CU9

$

Since we installed CU9 IMAP connections from Outlook (2007 and 2013) get rejected w/ authentication errors.

(from the IMAP4 server log: "NTLM,"R=""yqw4 NO AUTHENTICATE failed."";Msg=""System.Security.SecurityException:The user name or password is incorrect.\r\n"";LiveIdAR=OK;Excpt=""The user name or password is incorrect.\r\n-System.Security.SecurityException"";")

Only after setting "EnableGSSAPIAndNTLMAuth" to false w/ Set-ImapSettings the access works again.

The SPN-Records (IMAP/ and IMAP4/) do exist and point to the right computer account.

I am aware that in CU9 "GSSAPI-based Kerberos authentication protocol is not offered to IMAP clients in Exchange Server 2013" was fixed and I assume that this might be the cause of our issues.

(To avoid a discussion on why no MAPI-based access is used I can tell that most our clients do but for a few IMAP is a requirement.)

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Exchange migration and outlook problems

Hi all!

I`ve just completed migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 CU9.

We have really huge problems with outlook 2013 clients all of them are on latest version.

Problem is, that performance is really terrible. Tried with HTTP/RPC and with MAPI, same thing.

OWA works just fine and is super fast. I don`t know what I did wrong during migration but we can`t use Outlook, or better said, we can but on local network or outside of company performance is really crappy...

I cheched certificates, DNS, autodiscover all seems to be in order.

Any idea where to start troubleshooting?

BR,

Greg

Outlook is trying to retrieve data from exchange server

Hello,

I am having issues in Outlook after migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 but only from outside of office, when attempting to send new mail messages once selects the send button Outlook displays "Outlook is trying to retrieve data from Microsoft Exchange Server." and shows "Not responding", then I must end the Outlook process and reopen the program. The issues are every 5-15 min or so and affect only outsides PC, it makes no difference if is trying to send or archiving emails. I have recreated the data file, disabled all addins and did all the recommendations I found over this community. There is no .pst files and .ost file size is under 230 MB and less than 900 emails, I have disabled Lync integration, recreate the profiles, did the Microsoft Inbox Repair tool, ensured there were no spam or email scanners running, tried running Outlook in safe-mode, tried running in both non-cached and cached mode, ensured the offline address book is the default in use, modify some registry parameters in the PCs and server side and nothing works (off course I undone the registry changes after see it doesn't work). OWA access works fine and there are no issues sending and receiving using it. Operating system is Windows 10 64bit with Microsoft Office 365, PCs performance are fine, I also contacted with the Office 365's support team and after hours of work the issue persist. Software installed is minimal with no software firewalls apart from Windows default. Exchange server working fine, inside office everything is ok, even with a remote office connected through VPN Outlook 2010 and 365 works fine.

I would appreciate any suggestions as I am running out of ideas and this issue is persisting.

Kind regards,

Andy.

outlook 2010 sp2 - room delegation - view calendar

Hi, i have a strange problem with some of my room mailbox who's configurated to get approved by a user before the creation of the event.

3 users have delegation on some room mailbox, the security was made with a a group membership ( i try user directly but not change), when they receive a notification in Outlook to accept or refuse an event for the room, most of the time, when they open the email, they got an error, can't read the calendar, they didn't view the calendar availability in the email, so they can't accept or refuse it. All these users has added all the room they manage in the calendar portion of Outlook, they can see all the event, can create, move, delete all event. the new event wait for approval they can see it directly in the calendar and accept it, so right seems to be ok. so why in the received email request for approval they can approve it and see the calendar event?

I uncheck the exchange cache mode, I try to recreate an Outlook profile. the problems appears most of the time and on different room.

Outlook Client not Connecting to Exchasnge

Here is my situation:

-Existing outlook accounts work with no problem.

-If i try to add a new outlook profile to a PC, I get a can't find server error.

-It doesn't matter if the user is new to Exchange or not, I cannot set up the new Outlook profile.

What I have tried:

-I have removed the mail profile from the client pc and tried to recreate it with no luck.

-I have run a Get-outlookanywhere and the results look like they are correct.

-I can ping the Exchange server from client, and connect to Exchange through existing profiles that are on the pc.

This issue just started with no known change being made in our environment so I am kind of stumped.  Any direction or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I should note this is my first major Exchange project.

We're preparing to migrate to Office365 but found that Autodiscover is critical to the migration. It works fine internally, but externally we've never had much success.

OWA works fine internally and externally, and Exchange Active Sync works fine on hundreds of devices in the organization, however running the connectivity test reports the following:

Outlook disconnects from Exchange 2013 several times an hour.

[Edit: I did figure out a little more of the issue. I have figured out that what is causing this is the IIS Application Poll that The Exchange 2013 installer creates by default when installing called "MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool". The server is recycling the RPC Application Pool every 20 - 30 minutes or so. I have recycling completely turned off  on this pool yet it still restarts which leads me to believe it may be a code problem since it only should recycle if the poll crashes. Short of a bug in the code somewhere, I for the life of me can not find why the Application Pool keeps restarting. This is the only pool out of all the ones Exchange created during installation that is recycling constantly. It is frustrating because our Outlook Anywhere clients keep getting disconnection messages several times an hour because of this. The event logs I listed below are the only event logs I can find that trigger when the pool recycles, so as you can see, they give me no useful information in debugging the problem.]

This problem only applies to outlook clients using RPC over HTTP. ActiveSync, OWA and EWS are working fine.

There is a problem with the RPC over HTTP tunnel on our server. Every 20-30 minutes, sometimes more sometimes less, but usually with in that 20-30 minute timeframe, the RPC over HTTP tunnel drops and all Outlook Anywhere clients get immediately disconnected. IT comes back up very fast and all clients reconnect with in a matter of seconds. Not a huge deal for people using cached mode outlook but all the non-cached mode people (Thin clients are an example are not using cached mode to save diskspace). People using non-cached mode would get a couple errors pop up and outlook stopped working.

The only relevant entries I have found in the exchange server event log are here. These same grouping of events show up everytime the RPC over HTTP tunnel shuts down and restarts. I just can't figure out why its doing it:

1-23-2013 9:21:18 AM RPC Proxy 4 (1)
-- RPC Proxy successfully loaded in Internet Information Services (IIS).

1/23/2013 9:22:41 AM WAS 5138 None
--- A worker process '75832' serving application pool 'MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool' failed to stop a listener channel for protocol 'http' in the allotted time.  The data field contains the error number.

1/23/2013 9:22:41 AM WAS 5013 None
--- A process serving application pool 'MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool' exceeded time limits during shut down. The process id was '75832'.

I have been searching for weeks on the problem and all I really have found is that the problem can sometimes be caused by RPC timeouts so I set the RPC timeout on the server to 120 seconds via the registry. That actually helped for about 5 days and then the problem mysteriously came back and I can not get it to go away even though the registry value is still set to 120 seconds on that RPC time out.

Does anyone else know of any thing else that causes this? Its Exchange 2013 on Server 2012 and is a pretty fresh install. Was setup in mid-December.

OWA Premium Client Failure

Hello,

I updated my Lab Exchange from CU 9 to Cu10. After the update all works fine except the OWA Premium Client.
The light Client works fine.

When I select an E-Mail in the premium client, I get after some time the Message "Failure: Your Request could not proceed now. Please try it later agian. /Ihre Anforderung kann gerade nicht abgeschlossen werden. Versuchen Sie es später noch mal" but no content of the message is shown.

When I look in the developer console from Firefox I get some HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway messages.
This errrors from the service file https://[website]/owa/service.svc
The ActionName (X-OWA-ActionName) is  GetConversationItemsAction

It seems that all persons have this problem.

What can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks for the help.

We have problem with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. We have big problem with storage and lose our previous database which work on Exchange 2010 and Server 2008. Now we install 3 server, 2 for DAG (with all roles) and for clients (HUB,CAS). Now we have problem with sent letters with big attachements like (30 MBytes). It seems like outlook wait 10-30 minut and after sent mail one by one, sometimes he sent only 1 letter of 3. All mails stuck in Outbox. Small letters very fast. If I work with IMAP, POP3, OWA all very fast. I check counters of prefomance - all perfect. All test Best Practic Analyzer says all ok, include perfomance test(2 hours) This problem and at work days and at night when no clients. Can some one help?

Totally we have 500 clients and now database nearly 200 GByte.

Exchange 2013 OWA Message Size Limit

I cannot change the message size limit in Exchange 2013.  I still get the message in OWA of
"The following files weren't attached because adding them would cause the message to exceed the maximum size limit of 5 mb Filename.zip"

I have followed the article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh529949.aspx and a couple of others which all get you to change the owa web.config file to show
maxAllowedContentLength (set to 52430000)
and
maxRequestLength (set to 51200).
I have also run
appcmd set config "Default Web Site/owa" -section:requestFiltering -requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:51200000

I reset IIS and it didn't work. I rebooted the server and let it run over night and checked it in the morning with the same results.

I tested the Outlook clients and they can send attachments without issue, it is just OWA.

What am I missing?

Office365 Certificate

I need to setup TLS Security from my Office365 Exchange 2013 server to a third party.

They have requested The Certificate Authority that issued the digital certificate which I've found that's it's probablymail.protection.outlook.com

The Certificate Key Size which is probably 2048 bits

But also the Certificate Expiration Date which I don't know.

Are the above details correct for a Office 365 Exchange 2013 server and how do I find the Certificate Expiry Date?

Thanks, Steve
