AutoArchive - Error while archiving folder "Top of Information Store"

$

Full error: Error while archiving folder "Top of Information Store" in store "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" You are attempting to archive your data to a Outlook 97-2002 data file (.pst) which is a non-unicode data file. To preserve multilingual data, you must choose a Unicode data file, such as the outlook data file (.pst).

Configuration

User running on Windows Server 2008/Office 2010 has been getting this error since being setup with email a few weeks ago. It's a new profile. The Outlook configuration is set so the Exchange mailbox is the default and autoarchive runs every day to move items from the mailbox to an archive.pst.

Things I've tried

The .pst file was created new with Outlook 2010. I even created another new one and migrated everything over, ensuring it was not in the older 97-2002 format. But she continues to receive this message.

I have viewed the contents of "Outlook today" on the mailbox and there are no emails there (in case user somehow was able to move an outlook item to the root of the information store.

And also have tried recreating her 2008 profile (even though it was already new).

I am lost! Any ideas?

OWA Calendar Reminders Need to Be More Visible

A considerable problem with OWA is calendar reminders not being "in your face" enough. The badging and the notification sound isn't enough. Me and my colleagues who use OWA have missed several meetings because of this.

Unlike Outlook client which presents a modal reminder dialog which a user must respond to.

OWA should utilize browser notification capability to do the same or provide a config for users to specify JS alerts appear for reminders, which would ensure they see them and must respond.

Outlook Invite Replies - Reply message stops in Outbox - Undeliverable message received "data truncated TextConvertersException: data truncated'"

Our organization is running Exchange 2013 CU9 (On-Prem) (We also have some 2010 role servers due to retire, but still live), and all users have been on 2013 for ~4-5 months. About 1 1/2 months ago - a while after CU9 was applied, users started reporting instances in which they reply to an Exchange calendar invite in Outlook, and immediately get an email bounce. We did also create a new 2013 GAL around the time of CU9. Upon further exploration, the reply message generated by them clicking accept, etc. for the meeting is found to be in their outbox. If you open that message and click send, the message then sends with no problem, and the organizers calendar at that point reflects the acceptance. This did not appear to be happening for all users, so we tried to migrate one user from a mailbox database/server to another database/server. The issue appeared to be resolved. We later moved this user back to their orginal database/server and the issue did not return. Unfortunately, subsequent attempts at using the same fix steps have resulted in mixed results. For some users the issue remains/returns. Can anyone help suggest where to check for issues?

Here is the content of the bounce you receive:

Hi,

I'm deploying Exchange 2010 SP3 with update rollup 9, and I found that Outlook Anywhere is not able to connect. When I run Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer, there are 2 different RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error when I try to test the remote connectivity.

The Exchange 2010 topology is 2 x CAS/Hub with NLB, 2 x Mailbox in DAG and 2 x IISARR on Windows 2012.

Please kindly suggest.

Personal certificate error using Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Exchange

$

Up until recently I had all my company email accounts synced to my Windows Phone 8.1 device and PC's. We are using Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Exchange. A few days ago (last Monday to be exact) when I tried to sync my accounts I got the error message attached (error message is the same on both PC and phone).

Does anyone know what it means? Is it something our IT team has to look at? is there a problem with the SSL certificate file being used on Exchange? I tried adding and removing the accounts and it still gives the same error and I spoke to an IT staff member but they didn't know how to solve it.

I also tried manually adding the certificate file to my Windows Phone 8.1 device as .der, .crt and .p7c but each time my phone says this file cannot be opened.  I have not tried fixing it on my PC's.

My work PC, which connects directly to the same Exchange server via Outlook 2013, works fine.

How can I solve this?  Is it a certificate issue?  Is it a network issue (trying to access the Exchange server from outside the office)?.

The OWA site works fine from the same PC's and phone with this error, except for displaying a message saying the certificate is not trusted, but I just bypass it and get to the login screen.

Many thanks.

Very slow work MAPI/RPC with Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2012.

Hello all!

We have problem with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. We have big problem with storage and lose our previous database which work on Exchange 2010 and Server 2008. Now we install 3 server, 2 for DAG (with all roles) and for clients (HUB,CAS). Now we have problem with sent letters with big attachements like (30 MBytes). It seems like outlook wait 10-30 minut and after sent mail one by one, sometimes he sent only 1 letter of 3. All mails stuck in Outbox. Small letters very fast. If I work with IMAP, POP3, OWA all very fast. I check counters of prefomance - all perfect. All test Best Practic Analyzer says all ok, include perfomance test(2 hours) This problem and at work days and at night when no clients. Can some one help?

Totally we have 500 clients and now database nearly 200 GByte.

Autodiscover and rootdomain URL Issue

$

I'm not sure of the proper sequence of events when autodiscover initiates because what I thought I understood of the process is not what is actually occurring.  Initially I thought it was https://domain.com/autodiscover.... then https://autodiscover.domain.com/auto.... (etc.)  After further investigation it looks like SCP is the first stop for a domain joined PC.  Regardless, I am having issues and it all revolves around autodiscover looking for the root domain.

My issue is with both domain joined and non-domain joined PC's.  When attempting to configure outlook 2013 I am running into the following situation:

Based on what I'm seeing, autodiscover is looking first for https://domain.com/autodiscover...  My problem with that is that our company web site (domain.com) is hosted on a server that is not part of my environment.  Autodiscover is finding this server first and immediately throws the security alert regarding the names not matching (which it should because the server it's hitting is not mine and doesn't have anything to do with my exchange environment).  I have not been able to configure a non-domain PC yet.  With a domain joined PC I can at least get past the security alert and configure the client.

My question is, how can I prevent autodiscover from looking for https://domain.com/autodis.....  as the first step in the process?  I tried the reg settings found here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948981  the link is for exchange 2007 but I figured it was worth a try.  I have also tried using a local XML file which has not worked either.  I found another thread that referenced using a host file with the desired URL and that did not work.

One strange thing to note on the domain joined PC.  When I run the "Test E-mail Autoconfiguration" tool from the outlook client it doesn't even reference the root domain URL in the log.  It listed the URL that it found via SCP which is the URL I want it to go to.  However it still throws the security alert because it's still looking up the root domain url.  Why is it looking up the root domain URL if it found what it needed via SCP?

Thanks for your time.

Importing ICS feed into OWA results in empty calendar

$

Hi,

after my last post did not yield any answers so far, I'm posting a more narrow question, which might be easier to answer.

I have an account on an Exchange Server 2013. I want to subscribe to an ICS feed via OWA. Therefore, I opened OWA, navigated to Calendars. Then right-clicked on "My Calendars", "Open Calendar" and inserted the address of the ICS file (e.g. I tried http://www.ifeiertage.de/sn-sk.ics). This creates a new Calendar. However, the calendar remains empty.

If I import this file in Outlook directly, all events appear as expected.

Is there any way I can narrow down the problem in OWA?

Unable to search To-Do List

I have an issue where users cannot search their To-Do list using Outlook 2013 (15.0.4569.1503 64-bit) which are on an Exchange 2013 (v15.0.995.29). The users have no problem with using our terminal server which (due to other software requirements) is restricted to Outlook 2010 (14.0.7128.5000 32-bit). The versions indicated here aren't really that important, as our users have always had access to searching To-Do from Outlook 2010 through the many updates, but never on Outlook 2013 again through any updates.

As an aside, I have tried with the 32-bit version of Outlook 2013 and this did not work.

These are currently installed on Windows 8.1, but I have the same issue on Windows 8 and Windows 7.

I have rebuild search indexes on the exchange server. I have created new databases and moved the mailbox.

This is happening for all our users.

The MVPs over at Outlook suggest this is an Exchange issue. Does anyone have any suggestions???

Exchange migration and outlook problems

Hi all!

I`ve just completed migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 CU9.

We have really huge problems with outlook 2013 clients all of them are on latest version.

Problem is, that performance is really terrible. Tried with HTTP/RPC and with MAPI, same thing.

OWA works just fine and is super fast. I don`t know what I did wrong during migration but we can`t use Outlook, or better said, we can but on local network or outside of company performance is really crappy...

I cheched certificates, DNS, autodiscover all seems to be in order.

Any idea where to start troubleshooting?

Greg

Forms Based Authentication Service Missing!

I recently deployed a new Exchange Server 2013 Standard environment. All has been smooth for about 6 months and all of the sudden, I can't access ECP or OWA. First thing I check is the Forms Based Authentication Service, but it's gone. No idea where it went, or how to get it back. I haven't found a post on the same issue?

Anyone no how to repair this issue?

Thanks!

Do you want to allow *internal domain* to use additional storage on your computer

$

Hello All-

I am trying to figure out how to completely disable the IE11 prompt for offline storage when using Exchange 2013 Outlook Web App "Do you want to allow office *internal domain* to use additional storage on your computer".  Here is what I have done already:

1.  Configured my Outlook Web App policy to NEVER under the offline access section

2.  Ran command Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -Identity "owa (Default Web Site)" -AllowOfflineOn NoComputers

3.  Reset IIS on CAS by running IISReset /noforce

In IE 11, users are continuing to get the prompts to allow for additional storage, exceed storage, etc. even though I have disabled Offline Access on Exchange (the options menu is now void of any offline settings link).  In fact, the only way I have been able to stop these annoying prompts is to uncheck the "Allow website caches and databases" check box in IE 11 under Website Data Settings.  I don't want to do this because there are some websites that we use that do cache data and I'd like to keep those working.

Is there a step I have missed to completely disable the offline storage prompts from Exchange 2013 OWA users, short of turning off caching on IE?

Since updating iPhone to ios9, calendar no longer shows any events in owa

$

This is reproducible on any ios9 device in our Exchange 2013 organization.  If a user opens the safari browser to our OWA page in order to view shared calendars, the calendars have no items on them.

We've cleared the safari cookies and history data and tried again, but no dice.

We do use Maas360 MDM and the native IOS applications, however the OWA website is the only way we have figured out to date how to view other people's calendars that are shared with you.  We do know there is an OWA ios app, but it does not work with DUO multi factor authentication, so we just had the users use the built in iPhone browser.

Will this html code be fixed in a future exchange update to be standards compliant, or is the issue with the iPhone safari browser?  I will cross post to apple discussion forums as well to get both perspectives.
