2013 - 2010 coexistence, Outlook password prompts

$

Hi

I am about to do a migration at a customer from Exchange 2010 to 2013.

In my lab I can not get rid of the password prompt in Outlook 2007 when the user is on Exchange 2013 and the shared mailbox is on Exchange 2010.

Anyone have any ideas? Everything works fine if I give the credentials, but that might not be an option for these 5000 users at the customer :-)

Hello,

I have a strange problem.

When external user (outside of my lan) try to access to OWA, they can sign in, then they receive this message:

This is the same with Firefox, IE, Chrome, name it....

On my lan everything works fine.

Strange thing, with "OWA Light", eveything works fine from outside.

The problem is with the "Premium" version.

Idea?

It deactivate the IPS, Antivirus, everything...

I have a user receiving an error saying that an email she is sending is too large. The email is about 5 MB total with (size includes)a couple of attached jpeg files. The send connector limit is set to 30 MB, and so is her profile. She is getting the following error:

OWA in Exchange 2013 - Sent Items cannot show Sent TO:

$

I know there is a thread on this elsewhere, and it goes back to 2013 so obviously Microsoft doesn't care about it very much although they've reported 2 years ago that they were "looking at it". We recently "upgraded" from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and now we have a LOT of users complaining that OWA no longer allows them to sort by sent TO, although it does do a sort FROM. We have about 500 users who do not have the option of using the full Outlook client, these are float staff who have always used OWA exclusively.

I guess posting this in 2015 after MS has been "looking at it" since 2013 already gives me their answer, but, hey, there's my rant. C'mon Microsoft, listen to your customers. You want users to move forward and then you cripple functionality. It seems that the right team issuing a HotFix could solve this problem.

Autodiscover fails after mailbox move

Hello,

Environment: existing exchange 2010 org, with new Exchange 2013 introduced. Clients are Outlook 2013. Clients can connect to all mailbox on the 2010 Server, also can connect to new mailboxes on the 2013 Server. But if I move an existing mailbox from the 2010 Server to the 2013 server Outlook cannot connect anymore, because autodiscover fails. Both servers use the same autodiscover settings, SCP contains the same URL.

TIA

Update: I've just installed an Outlook 2010 for testing purposes and it is working! From this point it may be rather a client side problem than a server side...

Mails coming into the inbox and I can see and respond to them, but the computers are not communicating with each other. I can not see if someone else answered any mails and the others can not see if I answered.
Do anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Can someone assist me in troubleshooting this error when I try to access OWA internally:

"A server configuration change is temporarily preventing access to your account. Please close all web browser windows and try again in a few minutes. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk"

The environment is in co-existence between Ex2010 and 2013. My mailbox is in Ex2013. However, another user has the same issue and his mailbox is in Ex2010.

Outlook Anywhere On a Different Domain Computer

$

Hey all. I'm having a problem creating an Outlook profile on a domain joined computer. It's not the domain Exchange is installed in, but another completely separate domain. If I login locally and create the profile, I am prompted for authentication and after I enter the correct domain/user info, the profile is created with no issues. If I'm logged in to the problem domain, I am never prompted and profile creation fails with an error about not resolving the username. It looks like it's failing on the authentication step.

I'm assuming the user is logged into a domain (not just ours but any domain) and is getting the internal authentication setting which says to use NTLM. This fails to create the profile because the logged in user is in a different domain than the mailbox they are trying to use. When I try when logged in locally, I assume it's using the external setting which says to use negotiate.

I cannot manually adjust the authentication setting because I can't even create the profile. If I manually create it and specify the correct server name GUID, as well as everything else, I can change authentication to basic and only then does it work on the domain joined computer. Any ideas how I can get this to work? Is there a way to force the computer to use basic regardless of what autodiscover tells it?

Thanks,
Tim

Task - Reminder for sender about passing deadline, assigning tasks to a few people with splitting and other task workflow

Unformtunately Outlook is missing some easy to develop and cruitial functionalities...

I am a trainer of Outlook for corporations (i.e. Nestle, volkswagen group) and see what functionalities are missing in this product. A lot of corporations work still on Outlook 2010, and i am after a meeting with decision makers of a corporation that said they won't use Outlook, beacuase they have a CRM that give them more fucntionalities. What I often meet that is missing is:
- assigning task you (as a Sender) will not be notified when deadline has passed (and receiver hadn't done the task). So if you can't react quickly when somebody fails, you have to check constantly task statuses. Tthis is cruitial for managers and should be easy to develop in outlook.
- you can't assign tasks to a few people - there should be some split option when you type more than one receiver. Sometimes you give the same task to 25 people, and want to monitor them.
- there is no CC option when assigning a task - sometimes you assgin a task to not your worker, but someone's worker (often case for Project Managers) and you have agreed with them that you can do it as long as you inform them.

- and one more - when you are a boss and have an assisstant and you're telling her what to do, you expect her to type the task and want to monitor it. But even if she's got a permission to manage/edit your task folder, she can't assign a task from your task folder to herself...

Does anyone know solutions for such expectations?

Exchange 2013 - OWA Password Expired - Requiring DOMAIN\Username

$

Hello,

We have recently upgraded from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 CU2. When a user's password expires and they login to OWA, the system allows them to change the password. However, Exchange 2013 OWA requires them to use the format 'DOMAIN\username' and it will not except just the username or username@domain.com. This was not an issue in Exchange 2010.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Thank you

Exchange EWS url username and password.

$

Hi,

I was requested by someone in my other post to access the Exchange EWS url and post the information I get from there but whenever I go to the url, it keeps asking me for username and password over and over again. I have tried entering my username in any syntax I can think of as well as trying admin username and passwords but none work.

Here is the link to my original post which has stopped getting replies: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/f7813331-ccc0-46e0-95a9-81758291382c/outlook-on-mac-computers-are-unable-to-find-or-connect-to-our-exchange-server?forum=exchangesvrclients#a59eda3a-8290-49b4-a8d2-0edcb4fcff70

I was not the person who was involved in setting up the servers so I don't know if there is a specific username and password made for the EWS url or I have to use my normal credentials. My original post contains the main reason why I need to access the EWS url to begin with which has to do with Mac computers not being able to connect to the Exchange server whereas windows computers face no problems.

Looking at my original post might provide some more context as well and any suggestions or support is highly appreciated.

Exchange 2010:

SSLOffloading: False
ExternalHostname: mail.company.com
Clientauthenticationmethod basic
IISAuthenticationMethods: {Basic, Ntlm}

Exchange 2013:

SSLOffloading: False
ExternalHostname: mail.company.com
InternalHostname: mail.company.com
ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod: Basic
InternalClientAuthenticationMethod: Basic
IISAuthenticationMethods: {Basic, Ntlm}
ExternalClientsRequireSsl: True
InternalClientsRequireSll: True

Now there was a following problem. Users whose mail boxes are on Exchange 2010 when they start Outlook 2010/2013 requests the credential. If to enter login and the password that the user it is connected to Exchange. But such occurs at each start Outlook.

Outlook setup + repeating password prompt

$

I am working on a migrating our multi-tennant Exchange 2007 to 2013. I have a test mailbox on Exchange 2013 and have confirmed that I can log into it via OWA. When I try to setup a MAPI profile (Outlook 2013), I am running into an issue where Outlook never logs into the mailbox, so it never finishes setting up the profile.

I have a Hosts file that looks like this:

200.x.x.3 webmail.hosteddomain.com autodiscover.hosteddomain.com autodiscover.customer1.com

When I load Outlook, it says that the network connection was established, then goes on to "Searching for test@customer1.com settings" and prompts me for a password. I enter the password and click OK, but the credential prompt comes back over and over. If I click Cancel, I get the error "The action cannot be completed. The Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

So, I click OK on the error and Outlook shows me mailboxGUID@customer1.com in the Exchange server field and "=SMTP:test@customer1.com". It looks like Autodiscover is working, but authentication isn't. So I checked the Secruity tab under "More Settings" and verified that it is set to Negotiate authentication. I also looked under the connection tab and set it to Negotiate.

These changes didn't help and I'm not sure where else to look. Thoughts? Thanks.

users unable to modify distribution groups from Outlook 2013, but can from OWA

Our users are unable to modify distribution groups from the Outlook 2013 client, but they can from OWA. We've got the proper RBAC roles configured. I've checked all six possible causes from this link and verified none of them are the reason - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2586832. Exchange 2013 on premise environment.

Any thoughts on what I might be missing?

OWA 2013 CU8 - Address Lists under People selection behaviour

$

We are currently migrating from Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 9 to a fresh install of Exchange 2013 CU8 (installed directly from the CU). Mailbox moves are running smoothly and both Exchange version Mailboxes are accessible by clients during migrations.

However, under OWA 2013's People -> Directory (Address Lists), proper selection of the listed addresses failed.

 1. Attempt to select an item under Directory will result in a multiple (Ctrl+Select) selection behaviour. Re-clicking the selected item will not unselect it.
 2. The same issue is also exhibited when adding addresses (clicking + plus sign in the To or CC box) during Mail compose.
 3. This behaviour only affects the Directory Address Lists; it does not affect selection behaviour of Personal Contacts items or any other Mailbox items such as Mails or Tasks.
 4. We have tried IE 11.0.9600.17801, Firefox 27.0.2 and Chrome 42.0.2311.135 but the above issue persists.
 5. Only affects Listings (all items) under Directory; when "Search People" results are displayed, selection behaviour is working.
 6. Only affects OWA web interface; does not affect Microsoft Outlook or any other GAL behaviour.

During initial loading of the People page (All Rooms were selected onLoad), we noticed two XHR POST requests were made from the OWA to the FE:

1. /owa/service.svc?action=FindPeople&ID=-36&AC=1

This request received a 200 success response with the following JSON:

{yyyy},{zzzz
*xxxx, yyyy and zzzz are obfuscated items.

2. /owa/service.svc?action=GetPersona&ID=-37&AC=1

This request also received a 200 success response with the following JSON:

When the All Distribution Lists were selected, the following XHR POST were registered:

1. /owa/service.svc?action=GetGroupInfo&ID=-50&AC=1

This request received an error 500 response with the following JSON:
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.\u000d\u000a at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa2.Server.Core.ServiceCommands.GetGroupCommand.GetPDLData()\u000d\u000a at Microsoft.Exchange.Services.Wcf.ServiceCommand`1.DetectDuplicatedCallOrExecute()\u000d\u000a at Microsoft.Exchange.Services.Wcf.ServiceCommand`1.Execute()\u000d\u000a at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa2.Server.Core.OWAService.GetGroupInfo(GetGroupInfoRequest getGroupInfoRequest)\u000d\u000a at SyncInvokeGetGroupInfo(Object , Object[] , Object[] )\u000d\u000a at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.SyncMethodInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs)\u000d\u000a at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc)\u000d\u000a at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc)\u000d\u000a at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage31(MessageRpc& rpc)\u000d\u000a at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet)"}}

Lync 2013 Conversation History in OWA without Outlook, is this possible.

Hi all,

I was asked if this is possible, Lync conversation history folder available in OWA without Outlook installed on the workstation. My understanding is that it needs Outlook to create the folder first and then OWA will recognize the folder. If it is possible can you please provide some article or pointers in getting this working.

Thanks

Outlook 2013 "Check Names" Pop Up Window

I have recently added a second domain to our Office 365 account. I then created an email account tied with that specific domain and applied a license, so then can have Outlook. I went to the user's Outlook 2013 on their desktop and added the second email account to it. So, now they have 2 different email's they can use in one Outlook. Since I have added this, I keep getting a window that says "Microsoft Outlook Found More Than One John Doe". When this window is closed it comes back within minutes. When this happens the user is unable to send/receive emails until the window is closed. I removed the second account from their Outlook, and they now only have one email address, I also removed the second account from our 365 admin portal. They are still getting the check name window. I have created and tested this same scenario on my laptop and I do not get that message. Is this user related or my Exchange Online settings?

Thank You

Trouble with Exchange 2007/2013 coexistence testing

$

I have a multi-tennant, Exchange 2007 environment that I am trying to migrate to Exchange 2013. I think I'm ready to swing the DNS over, for co-existence, but want to test first. I have updated my Hosts file, and am seeing odd behavior in my tests. I wonder if my test is flawed, or if there is a misconfiguration somewhere in my Exchange 2013 environment.

The following IPs modified, but are correctly related to each other and I'm sure they are all able to communicate with each other. Here is what I have :

+ 2007
- CAS/HT = 10.x.x.2/200.x.x.2

+ 2013
- Load balancer = 10.x.x.3/200.x.x.3
- CAS-MBX1 = 10.x.x.4
- CAS-MBX2 = 10.x.x.5
- CAS-MBX3 = 10.x.x.6

+ Hosts file
200.x.x.3 webmail.hosteddomain.com autodiscover.hostedserver.com autodiscover.customer1.com autodiscover.customer2.com
200.x.x.2 legacy.hosteddomain.com

The test mailbox for Customer 1 is on Exchange 2007 and the test mailbox for Customer 2 is on Exchange 2013.

Here are my tests, and their results:

+ Test 1
1. webmail.hosteddomain.com -> enter Customer 1 credentials -> browser shows "Redirect loop detected" or "The website declined to show this webpage (http 403)"

+ Test 2
1. Log into Windows with Customer 1 credentials -> open Outlook -> name detected -> "Your account was redirected to https://autodiscover.hosteddomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml" -> Allow -> mailbox displayed

+ Test 3
1. webmail.hostedserver.com -> enter Customer 2 credentials -> mailbox displayed

+ Test 4
1. Log into Windows with Customer 2 credentials -> open Outlook -> name detected -> "You must restart Outlook for these changes to take effect" -> OK -> without restarting Outlook, "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> Microsoft Exchange server: CAS-MBX3, Mailbox: Test User -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."
2. Change Microsoft Exchange server to serverGuid@customer2.com -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."
3. Open Hosts file and change webmail.hosteddomain.com to 10.x.x.3 -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."

So my Exchange 2007 user cannot log into OWA and my Exchange 2013 user cannot use Outlook. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

OWA - what does "Inbox; Inbox; Inbox" in message signify?

$
0
0

My work colleague sent me a mail, and below the datestamp of the message it says "Inbox; Inbox; Inbox".

The only recipient address in the To: field was mine - we're on the same server, neither account is external. The message wasn't CCed to anyone, although he could have used BCC (haven't asked).

Why does Inbox appear in triplicate?

Does it imply anything about providence?

(if you verify my account I can include a screenshot - thanks)
