Accessing OWA externally

$

0

We have 2 users that are unable to access OWA from any external device be it smart-phone, laptop etc, they can access it internally just fine.  No other user is having the issue.

They receive the 'certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted (-2146893019)'error.

As it's just 2 users out of hundreds having the issue is there anything I can do without having to go near ISA or certs on the server?

Email Response Time Tracking

Hello good afternoon everyone.

I am told that we need to start tracking our customer email response time from the customer service emails into our shared Outlook mailbox which is maintained by three membes of staff.

I do not think we can do this with any the add-ins from Outlook and none of my IT colleagues in our Global Group currently appear to have this setup.  I have found some free software on the net but none so far that fits the bill.  Does Microsoft partner any software houses producing software of this nature either free add-ons or reasonably priced, about which someone could advise me please?

We use Exchange through O365 with E3 licences, our mail is synchronized with our Active Directory which is also synchronised through our European Group FM servers

Many thanks

Kind regards, Nickowiz

Duplicate attachments in outlook 2010

Hi.

We have problem with duplicating mail attachments.

Scenario:

When I edit any Office 2010 documents (word, excel powerpoint), then click on File->Save&Send->Send as attachment. If I encrypt, or sign or encrypt and sign message, then outlook sends message with duplicated attachment of one file. Two attachments of one file in message are also in sent items in sender's mailbox, not only in recipient inbox.

This is only scenario when it happen. This is happening since we upgraded to exchange 2013.

Can someone help me with this problem?

Thank You for any help.

Outlook on mac computers are unable to find or connect to our exchange server.

We started facing this problem where the apple computers can not connect to the exchange server via outlook or applemail or anything for that matter. All the other computers can connect to the exchange server with no problems and the apple computers can even access the exchange server via OWA but the outlook and applemail apps would not connect to exchange. We have tried even deleting and re-creating some accounts on the apps but they still would not connect. At this point I am at a complete loss and I looked everywhere through google to find out if anyone else has faced this problem but to no avail.

A little background information. This specific problem started happening after there was an un-expected series of power outages to the servers and they were shut down un-expectedly. I personally restored the servers and turned on all the services and made sure everything was up and running after the power outages and everything was working fine. Also the first instance of the problem with the mac computers only happened two days after the servers were back up and running again and they had no issues in those two days.

It has been a while that our users are making due with OWA and our exchange server is configured to work with automatic setup on outlook and the automatic configuration works fine on windows computers.

Forward mail from Shared Folder

I have just migrated a client to Office 365. There is a single shared folder that all users have access to. They can move an e-mail from the shared Inbox to their individual Inbox fine. However, if one user attempts to Forward an e-mail to another user, internal or External, it is not sent.

changing Outlook Anywhere internal URL disconnects XP clients

Good morning,

I am supposed to change the internal Outlook Anywhere hostname for an Exchange installation:

recent internal hostname: webmail.contoso.com
future internal hostname: webmail.contoso.local

The external hostname for OA is not set, because OA should not be available from external.

Now I made a test changing the internal hostname as follows:

  • generate a new Exchange certificate with subject name "webmail.contoso.local"
  • Set-OutlookAnywhere -InternalHostname webmail.contoso.local -InternalClientsRequireSSL:$True

Afterwards I made some tests on several clients:

  • Windows 7: working fine, it takes some time but Outlook updates its profile to the new internal OA name and connects to the mailbox
  • Windows XP: Outlook profile is not updated automatically, if I update it manually, Outlook hangs when starting and still tries to establish 1 connection to the old OA internal hostname

Does anyone of you have an idea how to solve this? I appreciate your suggestions, thank you very much. :-)

Outlook 2013 needs to unsynch

I just purchased a Surface 3 and installed Outlook from Office 365. I have the same problem others mentioned with Outlook slavishly synching to the Webmail server.

What I would like to do is to be able to download and keep mail from the webmail server and then let the server be emptied. I also want existing .pst files from my desktop Outlook program to be transferable (by exporting from the desktop and importing into Outlook on the Surface 3).

But the problem is that if I import email messages from a .pst file, Outlook on the Surface 3 uploads them to the server, and I don't want them there. If I delete messages from the server inbox, they disappear from the Outlook inbox (in the Surface 3 machine, not in the desktop which is running Outlook 2010.

Is there no way to import .pst files into the Surface Outlook without Outlook uploading them to the server? And furthermore is there no way to delete messages from the server inbox without them disappearing from Outlook?

Outlook 2010 behaves very graciously in not constantly synching to the server. Just downloads files and whether or not they are deleted from the webmail server just depends on my Advanced account settings (leave a copy of the message on the server, or not, as I choose).

Trouble with Exchange 2007/2013 coexistence testing

I have a multi-tennant, Exchange 2007 environment that I am trying to migrate to Exchange 2013. I think I'm ready to swing the DNS over, for co-existence, but want to test first. I have updated my Hosts file, and am seeing odd behavior in my tests. I wonder if my test is flawed, or if there is a misconfiguration somewhere in my Exchange 2013 environment.

The following IPs modified, but are correctly related to each other and I'm sure they are all able to communicate with each other. Here is what I have :

+ 2007
- CAS/HT = 10.x.x.2/200.x.x.2

+ 2013
- Load balancer = 10.x.x.3/200.x.x.3
- CAS-MBX1 = 10.x.x.4
- CAS-MBX2 = 10.x.x.5
- CAS-MBX3 = 10.x.x.6

+ Hosts file
200.x.x.3 webmail.hosteddomain.com autodiscover.hostedserver.com autodiscover.customer1.com autodiscover.customer2.com
200.x.x.2 legacy.hosteddomain.com

The test mailbox for Customer 1 is on Exchange 2007 and the test mailbox for Customer 2 is on Exchange 2013.

Here are my tests, and their results:

+ Test 1
1. webmail.hosteddomain.com -> enter Customer 1 credentials -> browser shows "Redirect loop detected" or "The website declined to show this webpage (http 403)"

+ Test 2
1. Log into Windows with Customer 1 credentials -> open Outlook -> name detected -> "Your account was redirected to https://autodiscover.hosteddomain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml" -> Allow -> mailbox displayed

+ Test 3
1. webmail.hostedserver.com -> enter Customer 2 credentials -> mailbox displayed

+ Test 4
1. Log into Windows with Customer 2 credentials -> open Outlook -> name detected -> "You must restart Outlook for these changes to take effect" -> OK -> without restarting Outlook, "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> Microsoft Exchange server: CAS-MBX3, Mailbox: Test User -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."
2. Change Microsoft Exchange server to serverGuid@customer2.com -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."
3. Open Hosts file and change webmail.hosteddomain.com to 10.x.x.3 -> check name -> "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you care connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name." -> OK -> "The name cannot be resolved. The action cannot be completed."

So my Exchange 2007 user cannot log into OWA and my Exchange 2013 user cannot use Outlook. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

Exchange 2013 - Outlook no connection to server but OWA works

$

Hi,

i have a strange Problem with my Exchange 2013. The Exchnage runs with cu2 on a Server 2012 VMware machine. After the successfull Migration to Hyper-V i installed directly cu8 - there is no Information on the MS download site (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46373)that this is not possible. During the update there were only Problems with the connectors - example:

Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();
          $connectors = Get-ReceiveConnector -Server $RoleFqdnOrName;
foreach($connector in $connectors) { if($connector.MaxLocalHopCount -gt 1) { Set-ReceiveConnector -Identity $connector.Identity -MaxLocalHopCount 5 } };" was run: "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.ReceiveConnectorRoleConflictException: The values that you specified for the Bindings and RemoteIPRanges parameters conflict with the settings on Receive connector "EXCHANGE\Default Frontend EXCHANGE". Receive connectors assigned to different Transport roles on a single server must listen on unique local IP address & port bindings.

at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.WriteError(Exception exception, ErrorCategory category, Object target)

   at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.<ProcessRecord>b__b()
at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)".

We solved this with this solution: https://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2014/07/14/exchange-2013-setup-error-a-receive-connector-must-have-a-unique-combination-of-a-local-ip-address-port-bindings-and-remote-ip-address-ranges/

We use two own connectors and there is no screenshot (or something else) how the connectors (also the Exchange own one) look like before the update.

Users can use OWA with no Problem and also a CRM System can use his receive connector on port 587. If i open the autodiscover.XML in a browser i get following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/responseschema/2006">
- <Response>
- <Error Time="12:31:35.6706834" Id="3007185755"><ErrorCode>600</ErrorCode><Message>Invalid Request</Message><DebugData /></Error></Response></Autodiscover>

The creation of a Exchange Mailbox with the control Panel brings following:

The user Name and the mail address is filled in and the next step Shows that no Connection to the Exchange Server is available. The window that Shows up next Shows the Mailbox ID is available. There are no entries in the Exchange Server logs and the Microsoft Office Alert log on the Client Shows:

MAPI
The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
P1: 350569
P2: 6.3.9600.17415
P3:
P4:

A DNS CNAME for the autodiscover exists, only the _autodiscover entry under _tcp is missing - before and after the update. A manuelly created one solved not the Problem.

Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory Shows the Server but the InternalUrl is empty.

One hint is there maybe:

After a reboot of the Exchange Server we get this error:

"Event ID 15021, HTTPEvent "error occurred while using SSL configuration for endpoint 0.0.0.0:444" – Exchange Server 2013"

and we solved it with: http://www.exchangedictionary.com/solutions/event-id-15021-error-occurred-while-using-ssl-configuration

The "old" Exchange Server under VMware is running without LAN but i was not able to see there any infromations - without LAN the System seems to be useless.

I hope that this are all informations and i have also screenshots - thanks to everyone who read this Topic and make some hints!

Kind regards

Bernd

Change the name of the Archive mailbox

Trying to figure out how to change the name shown in Outlook for the archive mailbox (see screenshot below). I found a property "ArchiveName" using the PowerShell get-mailbox cmdlet, changed that property to the desired value, but it's still not updated in Outlook. When I log into the user's mailbox using OWA, it does show the updated archive mailbox name.

External clients Autodiscover Fails. It will not find .local mail server

I have just inherited a new organization which has an in internal domain named abc.local and external website/email domain of abc-xyz.com abc & xyz are of course just place holders. When an external client try to use Autodiscover from within Outlook or a Mobile phone it will not automatically connect. It prompts for a username/password. The only way to get it to work is to enter the local domain\user name such as abc.local\username.

Is there a SIMPLE way to fix this? Or can someone tell me Specifically how to correct this so Autodiscover will work correctly?

Any help is truly appreciated.....

Category colors not working for only 1 person in shared folder??

$

Hi,

I'm a part of a media firm where my project group use a shared folder to manage emails from the public.

The problem now is that a new person in our group doesn't see the categories. And her categories aren't visible to any of us. This is the only person for which this problem occurs, and I have not been able to figure out why or how to fix it.

She has previously changed the names of her default categories, but adding one with default name/color now did not help. She also says she always had this problem, even before customizing her categories.

I thought Outlook Group Policies might be the problem (or solution), but I can't see why she would have other policies than all others in this 3000 people firm?

Hope someone can help, it would really make her job a lot easier and save us from thinking up a new system.

Creating new outlook profile and it is not working - stuck at "Searching for [email] settings"

I have office 365 installed in windows 8.1 and outlook was working fine till yesterday. But suddenly I had the issue with loading profiles stage(it was stuck at that stage). I followed one instruction to update the registry to disablehardwareacceleration, but it did not help.

So I deleted my existing profile and trying to create a new one, but after I enter the details, it is stuck at

"Searching for [email] settings".

What changed suddenly? I have not installed any updates yesterday apart from bitdefender definition update.

Am I missing something else?

Thanks.

Can't delete the folder in the deleted item

Windows7, Outlook2010, cached mode

User can't delete the sync issue folder (User created) in the deleted Item,

Outlook is synchronizing local changes made to items in this folder. You cannot remove this folder until the synchronization with the server is complete.

OWA has no folder there, any solution or wait?

OWA - given full rights but can't access

$

We've just been migrated to Office365/OWA and still learning the ropes. We have a departmental account we want to share among our department. I've logged into the dept account in OWA, right-clicked the name of the account, went to Permissions, and given myself and my coworkers Owner level permissions (every right enabled). I've also tried doing the same for individual folders. These permissions have been active for a couple days now. There's also "Default (none)" and "Anonymous (none)", if those are somehow overriding our user-specific permissions.

However, trying to use "Open another mailbox" or trying to "Add shared folder" results in various errors that all seem to be lacking permission. It's the "Bad Request", or "You don't have permission to open this mailbox", etc.

I don't have access to any server-admin level stuff, only just regular user abilities in the account I want to share and my own.

Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 - infamous OOF error "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later" - cannot solve it

$

Dear all,

I've a couple of users who receive the by now infamous "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later." error as soon as the try to enable their OOF reply within Outlook 2013. Thing is that only a couple of users receive this error whereas the rest does not, never ever. So it must have something do to with that particular user account.

I tried out all suggestions spread over the internet, e.g.

  • IE proxy settings
  • IE trusted site settings
  • IE intranet site settings
  • EWS virtual directory, availability, authentication
  • IIS settings
  • DNS settings
  • Autodiscover settings
  • new Outlook profile
  • bla bla bla

All to no prevail. I still receive this error. The user opens his or her Outlook 2013 (which runs on Online mode, Cache Mode has been disabled company wide via GPO) and then clicks on OOF in order to enable it - and receives stated error. Thing is you could click to enable a couple of times and maybe after 5 or 7 or 8 clicks it suddenly workes. It's just random.

These are the different articles I already checked:

  • http://www.techieshelp.com/out-of-office-doesnt-work-after-installing-exchange-2007-or-2010/

  • and so on

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OWA 2013 using UAG 2010

$
0

Hi there:

I'd like to poll the group to see if anyone has deployed OWA 2013 using UAG 2010.  Any challenges or issues?

In particular I'm looking to see if you were able to configure the IIS settings on the 2013 Exchange CAS for Forms Based Auth (FBA).

There seems to be some confusion concerning the modes of authentication required by UAG. What I've found is that when FBA is enabled for the Exchange CAS IIS, an end-user logging on through the UAG portal gets a double-logon prompt - once for UAG and once for OWA.

Any help greatly appreciated.
