Not able to delete emails from shared mailbox
"Something went wrong" screen after OWA login
I have multiple Exchange 2013/Windows 2012 DAGs that sit behind 2 CAS servers in a Windows NLB. My production DAG is fine, but my pre-release DAG is now getting this error, so I imagine something on the 2 DAG member servers is causing it. I think something changed in IIS by accident by one of my admins, but I've been unable to find out who or what it was. Troubleshooting is hitting a wall too.
The ECP and OWA to mailboxes on my other DAG work fine. I have legacy redirection enabled to my Exchange 2007 environment too, and when somebody logs into OWA via my 2013 CAS servers, that redirects them fine as well. EAS, RCP over HTTPS, and autodiscover all appear fine to the problem DAG. Testing email autoconfiguration works fine to my problem DAG as well, so it appears to be OWA related.
The symptoms:
- After logging into OWA on mailboxes in the effected DAG, a "something went wrong" screen appears.
An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled.
X-OWA-Error: System.NullReferenceException X-OWA-Version: 15.0.775.32 X-FEServer: {My 2013 CAS} X-BEServer: {Mailbox server hosting that DB} Date: 7/9/2014 6:36:37 PM
- No information appears in the windows logs. Searching the HTTPERR logs also showed nothing. W3SVC logs show the following events. Are these 302 errors?
CAS Server -
2014-07-09 18:11:20 10.128.13.38 POST /owa/auth.owa &cafeReqId=2d57ab13-496b-4ab3-b6c8-ecbd8061357c; 443 domain\username 172.30.108.17 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+rv:30.0)+Gecko/20100101+Firefox/30.0 https://mail.domain.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fmail.domain.com%2fowa%2f 302 0 0 0
Mailbox Server -
2014-07-09 18:11:22 10.128.13.76 GET /owa/default.aspx &ActID=10154033-ee4d-42bc-be5b-8efc0055c54f&ex=E404 444 domain\user 10.128.13.68 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+rv:30.0)+Gecko/20100101+Firefox/30.0 https://mail.domain.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fmail.domain.com%2fowa%2f 302 0 0 79
- It appears that while the ECP is working fine, it has problems getting information from the DAG. For instance, on the database tab in servers management, the "active on server" doesn't change even when failing the database back and forth.
All cluster resources are up. All agents appear fine. The OWA app pool is started and appears the same as the OWA app pool on my working DAG.
I've already tried the killbit fix. There was no killbit on my CAS servers, but one existed on the DAG mailbox servers. I deleted them out of one DAG member, failed everything over to there, and tried OWA. It still didn't work.
Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need any more info.

Email sent via OWA from USA, not received in UK...?
Hello.
I'm 99% sure I sent an email via my company's OWA from the USA to our office in the UK. My office says they never received it. Icould have
I am no longer with the company, and am attempting to direct them to its whereabouts on their own servers, or a record of my accessing their OWA servers on the said date. They would like me to reproduce a copy of the original email, so I have a simple set of questions.
Does OWA 'timeout' and delete emails altogether if they aren't actually sent? Since I cannot access Sents, Drafts or Outboxes, is the email (or any record of it) retrievable? Is it possible to get a record of my accessing their OWA?
Many thanks in advance,
Jay
Attachments not visible when in HTML mode - Outlook 2010
I originally asked this at
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/attachments-not-visible-when-in-html-mode-outlook/c50add8c-15fa-4c43-a2b6-58c78e9ec542
and was referred to here. This has to solely do with a couple clients running on a 2010 exchange server. I do not have access to the server but as far as message formatting nothing has been set.
I have a couple users (out of about 500) that have attachments missing from Outlook. For example they send an email with an attached PDF to a couple users and they also cc themselves on it. When the people with the issue receive the email several things may happen.
1. They receive the email as normal with no issue.
2. They receive the email with the paperclip icon but upon opening the attachment is not listed under the header like normal.
3. They receive the email without the paperclip icon and the attachment is not under the header.
In all three cases the email file size is appropriate. I have found a workaround for this but have not figured out the cause or a permanent solution.
Under trust center settings I set them to receive all messages in plain text. After doing so the error does not occur and messages that were previously missing attachments now have it under the header as expected. Also just to note OWA does show everything the way it should be. Now if I open a message in plain text with the attachment and click the part that allows me to now open it in HTML the attachment disappears. I have saved the message to my computer (and I have not experienced this issue) and the same thing will occur with the attachment missing. I have checked their outbound setting which are set to convert outgoing to HTML.
It seems upon examining the emails code (not done by me) that the emails where the attachment is missing is attaching the PDF as inline even though it was attached as a regular attachment using the attach file button. The work around would be to have everything as plain text (send and receive) but I'm looking for a solution.
Public Folder not recieving Out of Office Messages
Hi We are running exchange 2003 and outlook 2010
We have a Public folder mail enabled and send as right passed to two people
When they email via send as they do not get out of office messages returned to the folder (internal mail)
If they turn on out of office on their own account sand send as the public folder then they do get a message back.
Is this by design?
Surface Pro3 Win8.1 Outlook will not index on Server 2008R1 Domain
Hi Guys
Hopefully I have posed in the right spot for this issue?
I have a strange issue with a Surface Pro3 with Win8.1 when trying to index Exchange 2010SP3 emails in Outlook 2010 when connected to a domain.
If the Surface is not connected to the domain, I can add the Exchange account and it indexes the emails no issue. All Win7 machines are fine on the domain also.
But as soon as I add the Surface to the domain it will not complete indexing of the emails. It indexes about 26000 of 46000 and just stops. I've removed it from the domain, rebuilt the index, rebuilt the mail profile, rebuilt the user profile. Installed all Windows & Office updates without success. I let it sync for over a week and no success.
My DC is Win Server 2008R1
My Exchange is 2010 with SP3 & Rollup6
I'm wondering are there some changes I need to make on my DC to make it like Windows 8.1 better, or on Exchange? What do you think?
Kind Regards
Aaron

hi,

Outlook - Envelope icon doesn't disappear
I've enabled the Envelope Icon in the system tray for new mails (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292034/en-us).
If a new mail arrives and I open Outlook 2013, read the mail, the envelope doesn't disappear, even if there aren't any unread messages.
The only temporary solution is to right-click any Outlook folder with all read mail and then selectMark All as Read in the context menu (mentioned here: http://superuser.com/questions/335122/why-does-the-outlook-taskbar-envelope-icon-sometimes-remain-active-even-if-i-ha)
We are using Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 SP3.
Why isn't the envelope hiding automatically, after I read all mails? This doesn't happen always, but most the times.
Thanks

Country Code not replicated from AD to Exchange Address Book
Hi
we experience that users that when we change country code on user Object in AD, the change is not reflected in address book in Outlook.
All other changes are changed - but country code is set to United Kingdom.
Is this a missing attribute in address book generation?

Exchange 2013 offline addressbook
Hi together,
after Migration from Exchange 2003 to 2013 all is fine exept:
testing the global addressbook with get-recipients it contains the right member.
but the offline addressbook doesn't show anything.
get-offlinelineaddrressbook | update-offlineaddressbook -verbose returns nothing!
there is also nothing to see in oab logfile.
the oab belongs to the only existing Mailbox database not to the mailboxes (which is common I guess).
get-offlineaddressbook also says lastnumerofrecords=1. This is toooooo less.
I habe no idea where to search...
Greetings/Grüße Gernot
Editing External Contacts through OWA is extremely slow.
Outlook 2013 - constant sync address book
I was advised to post this here vs Outlook 2013 regular forum.
Updating Address Book constantly showing / not able to download OAB - I'm worried this is also wasting battery on top of being just flaming annoying to always see.
Hardware:
Lenovo T430 (i5 2.5/8gb ddr3/500gb HDD)
Software:

Exchange 2010
Running a manual download results in: Task 'username@domain.com' reported error (0x801901F4) - The Operation Failed
Works fine on my 2007/2010 Outlook.
No errors running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration
Connection Status all shows Established with Negotiation / Encryption.
I've not found ANYONE else online with this issue; I found one from the preview period that reported similar issues, and the resolution was to delete the Outlook folder in appdata - this did not resolve it for me.

2 email accounts with different domains synchronizing to all my platforms
I have Office 365 for small business and an exchange set up and has been working well for years. I now need to also have a second email address in my Outlook.
Most importantly it need to synchronize across my 3 platforms just like my current Office 365. I have been successful setting up the second account on my workstation but it will not allow me to set it up the same way on my tablet or laptop.
I was thinking it needed to be at the exchange level to synchronize.
Could some explain if this is even possible.
- I want to continue to use both accounts in Outlook, many instances receiving in one and reply from another address is important.
- I would like them to be in synchronization at all times so that I can leave my workstation and head to plane and pull down all that I have done onto my tablet or laptop.
- I have one workstation working by using simple account>add> and then setting it up.
