Sent Eamils disappearing in Outlook 2013

Hello,
we have an issue with Outlook 2013 (Exchange 2010 profile). An user has replied to an email (external address) assuming his email will go to sent items, and of course will be delivered to the recipient. After some time the recipient asked for a feedback. Than my user figured out that his reply was vanished. That email cannot be found any more, server logs do not show any send activity for this user. But the email he replied on, shows that "you have answered this email ..." flag + message. It was not just this one email, during the whole day the user has sent several mails, but none was really sent out and is not in his Outlook sent items, drafts, outbox, etc. We have searched over all folders for such emails, double-checked with OWA, no success.
On one hand such a behaviour is frustrating, but more critical is the fact that these emails simply disappear, it may happen that someone puts quite a lot of effort into composing such an email and than it's gone. I have to admit that the user has had a crash of Outlook early this morning. However he continued to receive emails, thought everything is fine, since sending emails apparently did not cause any issue, but finally emails just disappeared. On the other hand, after sending an email once via OWA regular send emails from within Outlook also started working again.
Any idea where these emails can be?

unable to get unlimited access

Hi

When I edit permissions I cannot see limited access, user is added to all groups that automatically assign limited access. Another problem is that she is unable to create events or entries on a shared calendar.

Office Web Application access issue over SharePoint

Hi All,

I have installed OWA 2013 for SharePoint 2013 in a Farm and the same has been connected to the SP Farm. I'm able to access the OWA from all the SharePoint sites in the Farm, but the sites which are added to the Host header in the IIS causing this issue. 

Note: All the sites are Internal and for few of the sites are IIS Host Header Mapped sites..

Calendar schedule invite doesn't show in the invitee schedule.

User has a repeating online meeting invite which she setup to run for about a year. When she checks the Tracking option she can see the responses but when she looks on the schedule the invite doesn't show in the invitee's schedule. One entry is for
29/04/15 3pm to 4:30pm. She has created a subsequent meeting today but could this be looked in to? She has had previous issues with this meeting and wondered if it is because it is an online meeting.

Migrating email-enabled public folders corrupted

We migrated our public folders from EX 2010 to 2013 but currently face 2 issues with the import:

a.  All public folders/subfolders became email disabled - about 300 + folders

b. More importantly there is a mismatch between folder name and assigned smtp addess.

For example imported folder name is qa1  smtp associated with the folder is qa18@domain.com

is there a powershell script we can run to fix these issues ?

Exchange 2013 smarthost ISP

Hi guys

my ISP blocks all ports to send emails with,

have to use port 587 to send emails over the internet using my isp smarthost.

the smarthost need to have a verfication before send the email.

can you advise how can i apply those settings on the exchange 2013 to be able to send emails using my ISP smarthost ?

Email loss Outlook 2013

Hello all,

I got a problem ; at the beginning it was just an updating problem on a shared mailbox. User had to update it manually because the mails weren't displayed automatically in the mailbox.

I resolved this problem by removing/adding the permission on the mailbox and delete/create a new Outlook profile.

Problem : User told me that mails are missing (since I did this). He gave me example of mails he still get in his Sent item, and indeed I'm able to see them in the TrackLog of Exchange but not anymore in the mailbox, which is very strange.

Does somebody has an idea ?

not Read Receipts Since Office 2013 Upgrade

Hi,
We have just upgrade to Office 2013, form Office 2007.  and we appear to be having some issues with Read Receipts, if we ask for a read receipt on a mail, as soon as the mail is sent  we receive a not read receipt as shown below. 

"Your message

      To:   Ian Hart
      Subject:    RE: Consignment No.
      Sent: 24/04/2015 12:01

was deleted without being read on 24/04/2015 12:01."

I know that the mail are being received as I have sent a test mail from my work outlook 2013, to my own outlook.com and it was received fine although I did receive a not Read receipt on my work outlook.
if we resend a message with read receipts we do not get a not read receipt, could any one make any suggestions

1.) Mail Accounts are Microsoft Exchange  

I have looked into this further and the issue seams to be with the Read Receipts. 
I have sent an email with a Delivery Receipt and that delivers fine and I get a Receipt
I have sent a mail with only a read receipt and I get a not read receipt as shown in the post.
In not sure if the error is accruing because we are sending  to email accounts/ exchanges that have had the read receipt function disabled or if it is a problem full stop.

Outlook OWA Populated Address

HI

In my organisation I have two OWA address' 

In Outlook when you go to file, you get the OWA address populated to inform users of the address. Where is this pulled from? E.g. I want to ensure all Outlooks only show a certain OWA address.

All our internal URL's are the same across all servers, just slightly variation in External OWA address'

Automated Signatures in MS-Outlook using Exchange server

Hello, One of our clients has a requirement that if the Signatures in ms-outlook can be pushed automatically through Exchange server (2013), however its not for a department but for each individual. Moreover there is a requirement that whenever the information changes in Active Directory i.e. Phone no., Department.. that should also get updated in the signature automatically.  Don't know if we can do this or not but just wondering if we can use in script here.

Hello,

My company has been running an Exchange 2013/2010 coexistence. Currently, Exch 2013 (2mbx and 1 CAS) utilizes "mail2.domain.com" for the name space. Exch 2010 (1MBX 1 CAS) uses "mail.domain.com"

We recently attempted to cutover external and internal DNS to point "mail.domain.com" and "autodiscover.domain.com" to the Exch 2013 server. 

We changed all virtual directories on 2013 to use "https://mail.domain.com/owa" (ECP, EWS, etc. were changed too) for the internal and external URL. The Exch 2010 virtual directories internal URL are set to "https://internalFQDN.domain.com/owa" the external URLs are $null

Both CAS servers were setup to use Outlook Anywhere since this is how 2013 proxies to 2010. The internal URLs for both were set to "mail.domain.com" IIS authentication Methods (Basic, NTLM). ClientAuthenicsationMethod: NTLM.

For both servers the autodiscoverserviceinternaluri was set to: https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

The 2013 server has two SSL certificates installed. One is a wildcard cert for "*.domain.com" and the other includes our SANs (mail.domain.com, mail2.domain.com, webmail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com) it also includes the FQDN for the 2010 and 2013 CAS servers.

I'm speaking in the past tense because we had to roll back. The problem was no Outlook user could connect. This goes for mailboxes hosted on the Exchange 2013 and 2010 servers. The error was: "Cannot open your default e-mail folder" to "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete".

Everything else worked fine during the cutover. OWA 2013 login page proxied 2010 logins properly, Outlook 2011 could connect with EWS fine, Active-Sync worked without issues too. It was only the Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients that could not connect.

We rolled back and everything is working as it was before with the separate namespace. That leads me to think it's something with Outlook Anywhere (RPC/HTTPS) but the settings seem correct unless I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated.

Outlook 2013 Proxy error

Hello,

We have recently deployed some Microsoft Surface Pro 3's in my office.  All of them have Office 2013 Basic and work when in the office.  However, a user is getting an error message on one of them when he uses the Surface Pro while traveling. 

The errror message is:  "There is a problem with the Proxy servers security certificate.  The certificate is not from a trusted certifying authority.  Outlook is not able to connect to the proxy server <server.companyname.com>. (Error Code 8). 

I have Googled and BING'd this all morning and am not making much progress.  Items I have verified. 

  1. Date and time are correct on the device
  2. User does NOT get this error when he is INSIDE the office.
  3. After acknowledging the proxy error, the user receives two security alerts, stating there is a problem with the sites security certificate. 
  4. We have a valid certificate from GoDaddy on my Exchange 2010 server. 
  5. None of my Windows 7 users are receiving this error.

Outlook Search issue

Exchange 2013, Outlook 2013, Windows 8.1, online-mode

One user can't do outlook search for mail items after migration into 2013, that's not shown in the list

Index contents on DB which stores the mailbox is healthy. Other users are ok.

What should I check the user's mailbox or the DB...

Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2010 connectivity problem.

I'm using Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2010.  I ran Windows update and found around 28 updates.  I installed the updates and restarted my computer.  When I try to open Outlook a Windows Security popup appears, I enter my current, valid password I get the following message:

Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.  Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened.  The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed.

This problem follows me on the network.  I can try to add my profile on another computer and I get this message.  This happens on Windows 7 and 8.1 computers and Outlook 2010 and 2013.  I can uninstall the updates and after about 15 minutes I can log in successfully without Windows security appearing.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm trying to determine which update or combination of updates cause this. I think the update that creates the problem is KB3021910.  After I install that update, the problem starts. Any ideas why it would follow my account?

How to allow only select access to POP & IMAP

We are currently allowing access to POP & IMAP through both secure and non-secure methods. Because non-secure traffic is sent in clear text, we need to migrate all users over to secure POP/IMAP, but have many legacy systems that might not be able to move over. With that being said, is there a way to “whitelist” just the select few systems that need to stay on non-secure POP & IMAP?

Also, anyone have a good way to import the Exchange POP & IMAP log files, filter them, and only show the systems that are connecting via ports 110 and 143, in order to get a list of users that need to move to secure connections?

Outlook Calendar Issue

I have Outlook 2013 exchange running in my office on Windows 7. Yesterday all of my calendar appointments for the next 7 days showed up in my reading panel. Today (5/1) they are gone. Secondly, when I click on a date in my calendar, instead of it showing me the appointment for that date it only shows an appointment for the 11th of May, no matter what date I select. Really crazy stuff happening here. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Cannot modify or delete an address book contact group

I created an Outlook 2010 contact group in my address book, saved it to my local contacts folder and then copied it to our firm's public Exchange based folder so all in our company can access it for mailings.   However, once I copied it over it seemed to lock the group,  I can't add or remove contacts and it won't let me delete the entire group either.  This was never a problem before and I can't find squat as to how to fix it.  Please help!  When I try to double click the group in contacts it says  "Cannot open this item" and when i try to delete it says "operation failed".

Cannot set Default Data file when Exchange account is added in profile which has IMAP and POP account

Result  in Outlook 2013- when we created an IMAP profile . we make an OST file for IMAP account and it is new in Outlook 2013

When you have added POP account and imap account you can click on Set as default option in the data files tab and you can set this for any data file : I have configured POP account of O365 mailbox and a IMAP account of Gmail, I can go into data files Tab and shift the default data file from Gmail to pop office365 account.
When you have added Exchange Account you will not be given to choose the default data file of Any IMAP account. We can only choose Exchange account ost file or POP data file .pst file as Default Data files and when we click on IMAP data file and hit set as Default data file button. I get an error msg that states that 

"The selected Outlook data file (.pst) format cannot be used. Outlook data files (.pst) must use the same format as offline Outlook data files (.ost). Select a matching oulook data file (.pst) or turn off cache mode in the account settings" 
even if i put the exchange mode in Online mode that error is showing when i select the default data file for any IMAP data files.

when i remove exchange account and then i select the data file of IMAP account to be default then it is set as default properly.

I think it is the default behaviour when an Exchange Account is added it takes priority and dont let default data files to be added of IMAP account. as imap data files in OL 2013 is .ost file

I think it is the default behavior of Outlook 2013- do any one have reference article to it
