Force Update User's "thumbnailPhoto" from AD

$

Hello,

When we add/update a user "thumbnailPhoto" attribute directly to AD (without using Set-UserPhoto Command) the image doesn't show in OWA, unless the user log in his email and clicks on his name or open the options page.

which means that this is the only time when exchange reads the users "thumbnailPhoto" attribute.

Is there a way to force show/update user Image in OWA after updating it in AD "thumbnailPhoto" attribute?

Thanks.

Why does Outlook often put me in folders on the oldest emails?

I'm on Win7-64bit, using Exchange.

I was using Outlook 2010 for quite a while, and was at least used to it.  I apparently had to upgrade to 2013, so I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to configure it to my liking.

One thing that I'm finding annoying is that when I return to folders I've been in before, Outlook is putting me at the top of the folder, but I have new emails displaying at the bottom, so I always have to scroll back down to the bottom to see new emails.  2010 didn't do this.  Is there a way to mitigate this?

Hi,

when click the TO: field and choosing a user from the GAL and double click it I get:

"The recipient couldn't be added. it doesn't have an email address."

When I search for a name, I get the Contact including the email adress, when i click the address it gets added to the TO field.

Outlook 2013 fails randomly to find recipient at GAL when connected via Exchange Anywhere from different forest

Hello all,

The summary could be: Outlook 2013 fails randomly to find recipient at GAL when connected via Exchange Anywhere from different forest.

Details:

Computers joined to Forest A consume Exchange Anywhere from Exchange servers through Internet where the Exchange Servers are joined to Forest B. No trust relationship between forest.

When sending encrypted emails, arround 70% of times, Outlook is able to send the email getting the public key of recipient from the GAL, but arround 30% the mail cannot be sent with error, event before or later (restarting Outlook) is able to send to this recipient.

"Microsoft Outlook had problems encrypting this message because the following recipients had missing or invalid certificates, or conflicting or unsupported encryption capabilities"

After some troubleshooting with Process Monitor I noticed that at the moment of send the encrypted mail outlooks waits few seconds and on background an few LDAP connection are stablished to Forest A domain controller.

I reproduced on a third computer joined to Forest C that LDAP connections are also established to the DC of Forest C but there it worked all my test and connection is also done through Internet with Exchange Anywhere.

Does anyone experienced this problem?

Can I avoid those LDAP  to DCs connections anyhow?

Outlook 2013 occasionally ask for credentials

Hi, all.

I have an issue with one (and only one) of my users. The user har both a portable and a stationary (desktop) client. We use Outlook 2013 with Excange 2013 (CU8).

On the desktop client, Outlook suddenly asks for credentials. The status bar always reports Outlook as being connected, also while the credentials dialog is open. The user can click cancel and Outlook still reports it is connected and e-mails are coming in fine.

This is highly annoying for the user. I'm out of the blue here on where to start searching, so I was hoping for some input. I may haveone lead. When checking the connection status diagnostics, I see that there are 10-15 connections towards the .local domain that are established. One connection is not established, and that points to the .com of the domain. I'm guessing this is the connection attempt that fires the credentials dialog. But what triggers it?

Exchange mailbox calendar language setting DUTCH

Good day,

Are there known bugs related to the Ducht language and calendar settings ?

When creating a new mailbox the calender is called "Kalender" in Dutch. This should be "Agenda"

Now when running a new pst import a folder "Kalender" already exists and "Agenda" is created as an extra calendar.
I am in the proces of migrating several mailboxes to Exchange 2013 using pst imports of the old mailboxes. After every import the user has 2 calendars with different names !

Any solutions ?

Outlook does not connect to Exchange 2013 after name change due to marriage

When launching Outlook and clicking through the setup wizard to create a new profile, Outlook auto-discovers the correct email alias. When establishing a connection it successfully checks network connectivity and successfully searches the email settings. When it attempts to logon to the mail server the error comes up.

"The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

Clicking "Check Name" gives the error:

"The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

The same result occurs with a manual setup.

We are running Exchange Server 2013. User workstations are running Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 Pro. All updates have been applied as of March 31, 2015.

All name changes have been made in AD and Exchange. Old aliases and new aliases are set in Exchange. Offline Address books are updated daily. The local profile and registry settings have been updated on the workstation and the user is successfully logging into the profile. The issue is only with Outlook 2013. User can access mail through OWA and ActiveSync on their mobile device.

Logging the user into another workstation and running the wizard returns the same results, which rules out the possible problem being with the workstation.

Calendar search not working for a specific user - Exchange/Outlook 2013

We have a user on Exchange 2013 that is unable to quick search or advance search his calendar but can search any other shared calendars fine.  If you try to access his calendar with full access you can bring it up but as soon as you hit enter on the quick search and advanced search nothing happens.  Every now and then it will switch to the white search screen where results usually populate but nothing populates except for this error - "Cannot display the folder. An error occurred while creating the view list".  We have tested accessing his calendar from 5 other computers under his login and 4 other logins that we have shared his calendar with and in every scenario we can search on all calendars except for his.  When we did a mailboxrepairrequest everything comes back ok.  There are no filters enabled on the search either.

It appears to be something with this users Exchange account since it happens on other computers under different user profiles when accessing the same users calendar.  We have ran troubleshooting logging in Outlook and there doesn't seem to be anything specific in the logs when trying to search.  Its almost like you can type into the calendar quick search and the enter button doesn't work when trying to submit the search request.

Has anyone seen this issue?  Any suggestions on what the issue might be on the server side or anything tests, commands to try and narrow down what the issue with this users mailbox might be?

Searching old emails

Hi,

I am having trouble searching for old emails via Outlook.  If I sort my Sent Items, and then click the link at the bottom to get more from Exchange, I see them all.  However, using the Outlook search tools doesn't find them - even if I do an advanced search and use the date field to specify dates.

Is there a way to do this from Outlook?

Thanks!

Hello,

We have found fallowing issue in our Outlook/Exchange environment:

If we setup rules in outlook 2010/2013 to move emails from specific sender to specific folder emails are moved to that folders but also they appear in a "Recover deleted Items" folder. if we move emails manually no issues. If we recover them they will appear double in the specific folder.

We are using two Exchange  2013 Servers in DAG with latest cumulative updates. CAS/MB roles combined.

Any Ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Emails marked as DRAFT in Inbox

Hi

My client is running Exchange 2013 server with different version clients Outlook 2007/2010/2013.

A particular user's inbox is acting weirdly, incoming unread messages are looking like DRAFT with the option to Discard or send the message when it hasn't been read or interacted with by the user. This affects both Outlook and OWA. The system has been working fine until couple of weeks ago.

Few other users are working fine without issues.

I have recreated the profile on different machines but still persists.

Your help and ideas are much appreciated.

Outlook 2013 "you are not responding to the latest message in this conversation" - Not Working

This feature is not working in our environment for some of the users.

A user contacted me saying that this feature was not working. I was able to duplicate the issue on my PC. One of my co-workers does not have the issue and it is working normally.

My 1st attempt to resolve was repairing office which did not work.

My 2nd attempt to resolve was to delete the mail profile and setup a new one.

My 3rd attempt was to uninstall/install Office 2013. After the install, I tried it once and the feature worked! the next morning when I tried it, the feature was not working again.

Any thoughts on how to get this to work permanently?

My System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit / Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013

User's System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit / Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013

Co-worker's System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit / Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013

We have Micrsoft Exchange Server 2010 and the computers are on a network/domain.

Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013 keeps giving read receipts

Hello experts,

We have an Exchange 2013 server. All users are joint to the domain, except one user (Windows 8.1) which is in a Workgroup, and using Outlook 2013 with IMAP protocol.

This particular user is having a problem. When he send's any email from Outlook and requests a read receipt, after that he keeps getting hundreds of read receipts in his inbox. I have tried disabling (for temporarily) the Windows server 2012 firewall,  but still having the same issue.

Is this a known bug in Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013? Any help troubleshooting this?

Exchange OWA Page Blank For Random Users After Mailbox Moves

$

We have three Exchange server. msexch1, msexch2, msexch3. msexch1 is currently offline. msexch1 and msexch have the CAS and MBX roles installed and are in a DAG. We moved all mailboxes from msexch1 to the other two servers. Since then we have users reporting that when they logon to owa they get a blank page. The resulting url is owa/auth.owa. The domain we use is exchange.ourdomain.com. The fqdn of each exchange server is msexch2.ourdomain.com, etc. We use round robin dns for our exchange servers, therefore we have two entries for exchange.ourdomain.com. For the purposes of this question lets say the ip of msexch2.ourdomain.com is 10.10.10.52 and msexch3.ourdomain.com is 10.10.10.53 and we have two entries in our dns for exchange.ourdomain.com, one for 10.10.10.52 and the other 10.10.10.53.

When a user experiences this issue I have found that when I ping exchange.ourdomain.com to determine which exchange server they are "connected" to; if I force them to use the other one they are then able to access owa just fine. For example, I have a user whom is getting a blank page after they logon to owa. I ping exchange.ourdomain.com which returns 10.10.10.52 for an ip address, which tells me they are connected to msexch2.ourdomain.com. When I enter in the url https://msexch3.ourdomain.com/owa to force them to logon using the other server, they are able to owa owa without any issues. When I use the url https://msexch2.ourdomain.com they receive a blank page after logon (as expected because this is the server they are trying to contact via dns exchange.ourdomain.com)

I have tried recreating both owa virtual directories which did nothing. I am at my wits end here and would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Email Delays

I have a user who sent an email last night from outlook (2013 SP1 fully patched), on their desktop computer at work to another co-worker who sits in an office in same building but it was not received until this morning.  Looking through the headers of the email I can see that it did not enter Exchange (Exchange 2013 Cu7) until this morning when it was promptly delivered less than a second later.

Does this rule out an issue with Exchange or are there logs I can look at within Exchange to see why it took so long for the email to make it into Exchange?  I'm sure this email was stuck in his outbox but could an issue within Exchange cause emails to stay in the outbox?  If the issue was within Exchange wouldnt I see the delay in the header?  Just need some advice on where to start looking into this.  Thanks

Cannot save free/busy information - Cached mode

$

So I have a calendar Admin, that has the ability to send meetings on behalf of new hires.  She was is cached mode and sent out a few invites.  Everyone she sent the invites to received the meetings, accepted the meetings and have the meetings on their calendar.  My Calendar Admin see's the meetings on the new hire's calendar, but no one else can see these meetings on the new hires calendar.  My Calendar Admin mentioned seeing the infamous pop-up "cannot save free/busy information":

I disabled cache mode on my Calendar Admin's Outlook 2013, once I disabled cached mode and close/re-opened Outlook, all the the invites she had sent for the users were gone, no longer listed on the "Organizers" calendar... so somehow the invites were only saved locally to her cached calendar.  This smells like a pretty bad bug for users with access to shared calendars and seems like they MUST be in NON-CACHED mode when sending any invites on behalf of someone else.  So now, all the meetings are on all the calendars of the "invitees" but not on the new hire (organizers) calendar.  This is seems to be a reproduceable bug that I'm hoping isn't working "as designed"

Are there any known bugs with this process?  Is there a way around this other than disabling cached mode?  Where do these meetings actually save when in Cached mode on a shared calendar?

Thanks in advanced

Dears,

I have an urgent and annoying issue of POP3, I am trying to connect via POP3 in Win7 with Oulook 2013 but if gives failed.

I have 1 Exchange 2013 server (CAS/Mailbox).

I have started the POP3 services (2 services).

I have prepared the certificate after enabling the POP.

The certificate is assigned to use: SMTP, Outlook Anywhere, POP, IMAP and IIS.

Everything is working Fine: RPC/HTTPS, OWA, and Outlook Anywhere.

I am telneting on Exchange server ad these ports are opened: 25, 587, 110, 995.

The certificate is issued by internal CA, the root certificate is installed on user/computer store at client.

The certificate SANs are added.

The certificate request include the right name of POP server (SANs).

Can you tell me what I should do to fix this issue on both Server side and Client Side? What should I do further to connect POP3?

Thanks

Regards
