Can't open OWA externally, please help

$

0

Good day All,

I have 3 Exchange servers

EX01(Exchange 2010)
EX02(Exchange 2013)
EX03((Exchange 2013)

E-Mails flow through Edge Transport server 2013

I don't understand why I'm not able to open OWA externally, also mobie devices stopped sending/receiving e-mails.

External address in OWA settings is correct.

Before that I had only Exchange 2010 server installed and everyring worked well. But after Installation of Edge transport server and 2 other Exchange 2013 servers I faced with this issue.

Does anyone know what might that be?

Thank you in advance.

Is there a way to organize groups (distribution lists) so that they show up in a specific order within Outlook?  In 2007 I would use spaces to make them show at the top of the GAL.  No spaces are allowed in 2013.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Outlook 2013 / Office 365 Tasks gone

During a process of syncing emails and PSTs to a client's office 365.  He is saying as I was doing this (from another computer connected into his account) tasks that he had on his computer are gone and it is vital that he gets them back.  He doesn't know specifically when they disappeared, but he knows it was within the past two weeks.

I am currently restoring deleted items to a temporary folder, but I need other ideas.

Best practices/tips for users who are connected to A LOT of mailboxes?

$

I have a user or two who seem to be connected to _everyone's_ mailbox.  This person is in recruiting, so access to other people's calendars is necessary for scheduling.

Problem is, she faces multiple Outlook slow downs and lock ups on a daily basis.  She recently showed me a problem where calendars that she typically has access to now prompt her to "ask them to share their calendar" messages (reboots will fix this problem, for the most part).

Taken her on and off cached Exchange mode.  We have disabled the "Download shared folders" setting, and that helped some, but issues still persist. She is typically the only one with constant problems (her and one other person that is in a similar situation).

More info: we allow Reviewer permissions for everyone's Calendar for the "Default" entry.  So, she does not have full access to any one's mailbox. She's just viewing everyone as a shared calendar.

Hoping there's someone out there with similar issues that have successfully tackled this problem!

Running on-prem Exchange 2013 with three member DAG.

Thanks in advance.

[EX2K13] Mail stuck in outbox when additional mailboxes are open in Outlook profile (Outlook 2010 on Windows XP)

$

Hello, one of our clients has a an Outlook client issue after migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013.

Bascially,  mail is stuck in outbox of the main mailbox when sending mail using the main mailbox when there is an additonnal mailbox open. This issue is seen only, as far as we know, on Outlook 2010 clients under Windows XP.

It seems that i am not the only one in this situation, see:  http://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/1dwhfm/exchange_2013_cached_mode_additional_mailbox/

We are currently tring to use the solution provided in the end of the reddit article :

A- by re-applying permissions with "add-mailboxpermission" and playing with the automapping attribute.

B - It seems too that removing the additionnal mailbox from the profile and adding it back, solves the issue.

But at this point, we  cannot say that either A or B or a combination of both actions A and B solved the problem.

When we have more information, we will comment.

However, if any of the MS Engineers had an idea for troubleshoooting steps, we are interested, and we thought that reporting the issue may be important for the community.

And FYI, certificates are OK, outlook anywhere is OK, autodiscover OK, OAB download is OK, all URI are OK, no Outlook authentication popups, no stale connections (CTRL+SHIFT + right click outlook -> connection state are all OK)

The Exchange 2007 is not yet decommissionned. only powered off.

Any idea welcome !

Autodiscover fails after mailbox move

$

Hello,

Environment: existing exchange 2010 org, with new Exchange 2013 introduced. Clients are Outlook 2013. Clients can connect to all mailbox on the 2010 Server, also can connect to new mailboxes on the 2013 Server. But if I move an existing mailbox from the 2010 Server to the 2013 server Outlook cannot connect anymore, because autodiscover fails. Both servers use the same autodiscover settings, SCP contains the same URL.

TIA

Update: I've just installed an Outlook 2010 for testing purposes and it is working! From this point it may be rather a client side problem than a server side...

Known issue - Outlook stays disconnected after migrating mailbox from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 SP1

$

Hey All,

I wanted to start this thread because for the first time since working on this, I have official confirmation from Microsoft that this is a known issue.

This has been discussed in various posts such as here and here, This post is actually a semi cross-post of another post of mine in this thread. This same behavior has been linked to this KB. Although the same behavior is observed, I am able to confirm that the two issues are unrelated. I was able to observe this problem with a newer version of Outlook 2013 than mentioned in the KB as well as in Outlook 2010.

Symptoms:

Consider this scenario:

- Existing Exchange 2010 environment with new Exchange 2013 Mailbox and CAS servers introduced. All Exchange 2010 servers on SP3 CU 5. Exchange 2013 Servers on SP1 CU 5

- Clients include Outlook 2010 SP1 and Outlook 2013 SP1

This procedure is followed to replicate the issue:

- Create new mailbox using Exchange 2010 console and add it in an Exchange 2010 Mailbox Database

- Create Outlook profiles in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. Outlook should work as expected at this point.

- From Exchange 2013, initiate a new migration for the mailbox in question.

- When the migration finishes Outlook displays a pop-up and asks to be restarted

- After restart, Outlook stays disconnected. Looking at the Outlook "Connection Status" screen the client tries to connect to the Exchange 2013 server but the connection is redirected back to the 2010 server.

Cause:

According to Microsoft this is a known issue. It occurs because when a mailbox is moved to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2010, the mailbox itself still has a cache entry that points the client back to the 2010 server. According to Microsoft, this cache expires after an "undetermined" time interval for Exchange 2013 SP1 up to CU4 and every "2 to 2.5 hours" in Exchange 2013 CU5. They could not reference a KB article with this info.

Workaround:

After a migration batch completes, perform aniisreset on the Exchange 2013 CAS server. The following strategy can be followed to streamline the process of migrating multiple mailboxes:

  • Create a migration batch for a number of mailboxes.
  • Select to "Manually Complete the batch" in the "New Local Mailbox Move" window. This process will migrate 95% of the mailbox and then stop.
  • After 95% of the contents of each mailbox have been moved, the batch will stop syncing and show as "synced" on the migration window. Up to this point in the process users are able to use Outlook without any interruption and the move is invisible to them.
  • When you are ready to finish the migration, select to "Complete This Migration Batch" on the ECP Migration screen. At this time, users that have Outlook open will receive a prompt to restart it. When Outlook re-opens, it will show as "Disconnected" until the next step is performed.
  • Once the batch shows as "completed", perform an iisreset on the 2013 CAS server. At this time, Outlook will show as "Connected to Microsoft Exchange" and users will receive a second prompt to restart Outlook. After the second restart Outlook will be permanently connected to Exchange 2013.

If you do not wish to perform an iisreset, there is an alternative way of forcing Outlook to reconnect:

Microsoft has confirmed that recycling the following Application Pools forces Outlook to connect to Exchange 2013:

Exchange 2013 CAS Server

  • MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool
  • MSExchangeRpcProxyFrontEndAppPool

Exchange 2013 Mailbox Server:

  • MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool
  • MSExchangeRpcProxyAppPool

If you decide to not perform an iisreset and opt for recycling the App Pools instead, be advised that after the AppPools are recycled, Outlook connects to Exchange and asks to be restarted. If you close Outlook and immediately open it again, you will be prompted with a username and password pop-up (At least I was in all my tests of this method.) This issue is resolved if, after you close Outlook, wait 5 to 10 minutes before re-opening it. You will not be prompted for a user/pass at this point.

For those who choose to have the migration complete automatically: The cache entry that causes all this issue is cleared after about 2 to 2.5 hours if you are on Exchange 2013 CU5. In any case, it may be better if you have control over when the migration finishes by opting to complete it manually.

There is currently no KB article referencing this issue and Microsoft cannot provide a time when a patch fixing this will be released.

Thanks,
Fable

Samsung galaxy s3 android microsoft exchange contact sync

Hi,

The syncing of contacts on my Samsung galaxy s3 doesn't work anymore. I reinstalled my phone and after that the problem occurred.  The contactspage starts adding more and more contacts till it has reached quite a high amount, and then drops back to 0 to start all over again. This loops goes on and on. I did a new hard reset and tried to sync again, but still had the same problem. Then I erased all the data on the phone and did a new hard reset, still same problem. Finally, I erased all the data, did a hard reset and did not link with the google, samsung or dropbox account when I reinstalled. Again, the same problem occurred.

So the problem must be in the microsoft exchange account. Can you please help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

We are able to easily set delegate access to a Calendar through PowerShell, but is there a way to also set the "Deliver meeting requests to my delegate..." option in Outlook through PowerShell or EWS API?

Two Exchange Servers - IMAP Isnt Working on One

$

I have two exch2013 CU8 servers and we use IMAP for one service.  We are running into an issue with one of the two servers.  If I point the IMAP connection at exch01's IP address it works fine.  If I point the same setup to Exch02's IP address it fails and I have no idea why.

The services are started on both servers and the default ports are being used for the IMAP connectivity.  What else could stop IMAP from functioning.

I enabled protocol logging and i do not think i am seeing anything show up in the logs from the test connection.  There are only entries for a healthmailbox in there.

The Windows firewall is currently turned off and there is no additional AV / Firewall services that could interfere with the inbound connection.

OWA 2013 SSO - OWA Version

Hello,

I'm trying to SingleSignOn to OWA 2013 using NetScaler AAA. Everything seems to be working fine, however I get the 2010 version of OWA. If I connect to the exchange server directly I get the 2013 version.

From what I can tell, this happens because I get the light version of owa, right?

I have read many articles that state that I have to specify a combination of the variables "flags" and "trusted".

Although I tried "flags=0&trusted=0" and "flags=4&trusted=4" I haven't got it to work.

One last thing, when I check the version of the OWA using ECP and Powershell I get that it is 2010.

This is a clean installation of Exchange 2013 on a brand new domain with just one server. The version of the server is 15 build 516.32 and it's running on Windows Server 2012 R2.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I have enabled OWA for all staff. They all can access owa through LAN when they are within company premises and also through Internet outside company premises.

Now I want to block some users accessing email via OWA from Internet. They should be able to access email via owa within company premises.

Please guide me.
