Outlook 2013 Auto Account Setup for Linked Mailbox Not working

$

We've created a linked mailbox, in Exchange 2013 (in domain1), for a user in another AD forest, domain2. We have the AutoDiscover service configured in the other AD forest as well. Our only issue now is trying to find a way to get the Outlook Auto Account Setup to automagically configure a user's profile the first time Outlook 2013 is started. If we type in the user's email address and name and click Next, the profile is created successfully.

I spoke to Microsoft support who helped me confirm that AutoDiscovery was configured correctly in the other forest. Reading this information (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124251.aspx ) on AutoDiscover, I found what may be the issue. It notes that

"If the Outlook client is joined to a domain, the user's domain account is used."

Since the linked mailbox is associated with domain1, Outlook looks like it cannot use the domain account from domain2. I wonder if there might be a registry hack to bypass this and force Outlook clients in domain2 to look at email addresses in domain1?

Exchange 2013 OOF not working for migrated accounts

We are having a problem with the Out of Office responses in Exchange 2013. We are getting the error “Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.”  I have been through several help articles that I found on the internet and so far none have resolved the problem. Autodiscover is working as expected when connecting an Outlook client – and I can access the url identified by the “Test Email AutoConfiguration” tool for OOF – it returns the xml document as expected. New accounts created in this domain work, but the problem occurs accounts that were migrated from Server 2003 domain running Exchange 2007. I can also access the OOF settings for a migrated account using OWA. The new domain is 2012 and Exchange 2013 and accounts are being migrated using ADMT through a trust, which is working as expected.  Only the accounts have been migrated (not mailboxes) and I am not planning to connect the old exchange to the new to do mailbox moves – instead I am just planning to export psts from the old Exchange 2007 server and then import them to the 2013 server.  The client dns settings are correct and all other connectivity seems fine. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.  I have also tried creating a new Outlook profile, turning off Cached Mode, and creating an entirely new Windows profile and Outlook profile. I have also tried using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.

Outlook 2013 "you are not responding to the latest message in this conversation" - Not Working

This feature is not working in our environment for some of the users.

A user contacted me saying that this feature was not working. I was able to duplicate the issue on my PC. One of my co-workers does not have the issue and it is working normally.

My 1st attempt to resolve was repairing office which did not work.

My 2nd attempt to resolve was to delete the mail profile and setup a new one.

My 3rd attempt was to uninstall/install Office 2013. After the install, I tried it once and the feature worked! the next morning when I tried it, the feature was not working again.

Any thoughts on how to get this to work permanently?

My System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit / Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013

User's System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit / Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013

Co-worker's System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit / Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013

We have Micrsoft Exchange Server 2010 and the computers are on a network/domain.

Outlook 2013 categories do not show color label - only text label

$

I just upgraded to Outlook 2013 from 2010. I used to be able to right click in the category column of an email in the inbox to assign a color block to the email. Now it only gives me the text label of the color. For example the quick click for follow up used to be a red block in Outlook 2010. Now when I click in that column it gives me the text label "follow-up" instead of the red block that I prefer.

How can I turn the color blocks back on and get rid of the text labels?

Thanks for your help.

Still outlook contacting old exchange 2010 server after miration to exchange 2013

Hi,

I have migrated ex2010 to ex13cu5, migration fine. But when I shutdown old exchange server outlook clients getting delay to update the folder. When I check on the connection status, it is trying to connect to old ex10 server (by fqdn then server name) then automatically close this query. Finally it will be fine!

If there is ex10 is online, no issue at all to connect and latency for updating folder.

Why it is still contacting old exchange server?

Autodiscover name , I set for all as below:

Set-ClientAccessServer –Identity CON-EX2010CAS - AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri https://mail.contoso.com/Autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

Set-ClientAccessServer –Identity CON-EX2013CAS - AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri https://mail.contoso.com/Autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

Thanks,

Outlook 2013 - Inbox not showing count of unread emails

$

Ever since moving to Outlook 2013, some of our users are experiencing issues where their inbox does not show the count of unread emails. These user's are working in cached exchange mode. Taking them out of cached exchange mode, deleting OST file and then putting back in cached exchange mode usually resolves the issue. However, this is only temporary and the problem comes back. We are running Exchange 2010.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue for good?

Thanks.

MAPI over HTTP not working correctly, Outlook 2013 clients prompting for credentials during profile creation or opening depending on security of virtual directory

ENVIRONMENT

-1 Exchange 2013 SP1 CU7 server with all roles that is also a hybrid server with Office 365 tenant, mailboxes are all on premise only LYNC online is being utilized right now.

-Exchange 2013 public folders

-Mix of Outlook 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2010 SP3 clients all fully update to day as of Feb 2015

Outlook anywhere is working perfectly across all clients both internally and externally using autodiscover.  Both Outlook 2013 and 2010 clients can open the program and create a profile automatically via autodiscover and no additional logon prompts are seen.

We set the internal and external mapi virtual directory URLs to a valid URL that also matches the Exchange 2013 SSL certificate.  We set the security to ntlm, negotiate on the mapi virtual directory.  We reset IIS and enabled mapi over http in the org config.  We run in to problems here.

Outlook 2010 clients appear to be working fine.  We can create a new profile and open and close Outlook without any logon prompts and verify that MAPIHTTP and Negotiate are used to connect to Exchange.

Outlook 2013 clients are having problems.  As soon as we try to create a profile it says your administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook and then a windows logon prompt appears. If we authenticate Outlook will open and connect.  This logon prompt should not occur.    We can confirm that it is connecting via MAPI HTTP and Negotiate.

If we set the mapi virtual directory to NTLM only then a logon prompt also appears during every open of Outlook 2013.  We can confirm that it is trying to connect with MAPIHTTP via NTLM in the outlook connection test screen.

I do not understand this behavior by Outlook 2013 which was supposed to be designed with MAPI HTTP in mind.  I would think the same issues would occur with Outlook 2010 but they do not.  I am not sure how to resolve this and I am looking for help.

[EX2K13] Mail stuck in outbox when additional mailboxes are open in Outlook profile (Outlook 2010 on Windows XP)

$

Hello, one of our clients has a an Outlook client issue after migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013.

Bascially,  mail is stuck in outbox of the main mailbox when sending mail using the main mailbox when there is an additonnal mailbox open. This issue is seen only, as far as we know, on Outlook 2010 clients under Windows XP.

It seems that i am not the only one in this situation, see:  http://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/1dwhfm/exchange_2013_cached_mode_additional_mailbox/

We are currently tring to use the solution provided in the end of the reddit article :

A- by re-applying permissions with "add-mailboxpermission" and playing with the automapping attribute.

B - It seems too that removing the additionnal mailbox from the profile and adding it back, solves the issue.

But at this point, we  cannot say that either A or B or a combination of both actions A and B solved the problem.

When we have more information, we will comment.

However, if any of the MS Engineers had an idea for troubleshoooting steps, we are interested, and we thought that reporting the issue may be important for the community.

And FYI, certificates are OK, outlook anywhere is OK, autodiscover OK, OAB download is OK, all URI are OK, no Outlook authentication popups, no stale connections (CTRL+SHIFT + right click outlook -> connection state are all OK)

The Exchange 2007 is not yet decommissionned. only powered off.

Any idea welcome !

Outlook 2010 Under Windows XP Requests Authentication After Each Launch

We are working on installing a new Exchange 2013 environment.

Exchange 2013 SP1 Standard has been installed and then upgraded to CU7.  It is a single box for the CAS and MB roles. It is running Windows Server 2012 R2.

The domain and forest are in 2003 native mode, all domain controllers are running 2003 SP2 to meet the minimums.  Errors logs have been evaluated, DCDIAG runs on all DCs with no errors and repadmin is showing replication is error free.

We have a mixture of XP (service pack 3) and Windows 7 Clients.  Both are running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010
Outlook Version 14.0.6023.1000 (32-bit).  The Windows 7 clients open Outlook normally and are not prompted for credentials.  Windows XP clients are prompted for credentials once, each time they launch Outlook.  This is our problem we need to fix.

Clients under both Windows 7 and XP have no problem setting up the initial profile.  It finds the autodiscover quickly and configures the profile.

Because we have separate internal and external domain names  (cofm.com and mab.com) we purchased a SAN certificate from GoDaddy.  It contains the following:
exchange.cofm.com (this is the cn)
autodiscover.cofm.com
exchange.mab.com
autodiscover.mab.com

OWA works fine under either https://exchange.cofm.com orhttps://exchange.mab.com.  Our users with Apple iPhones, Android and Windows phones have no problem creating connections to activesync.

Under the outlook clients, it doesn't seem to matter if we have selected cached exchange mode or not.  We have changed the "Logon Network Security" to use Negotiate Authentication or Password Authentication (NTLM) and it doesn't seem to matter.  Under the connection status it shows HTTP for Directory and Mail connections.

If we "Test E-mail Autoconfiguration" it connects using the credentials we provide and no errors seem to show up in the XML results.

None of the permissions on the default virtual directories differs from "https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg247612(v=exchg.150).aspx"

Any thoughts?

Again...the authentication prompt only occurs with our Windows XP clients running the Outlook 2010...not the Windows 7 clients.  Switching the clients to Windows 7 or later is not in the budget atm.

Exclaimer manager signature does not update sent items for outlook 2013 clients when using cached mode

Hi

I have Signature Manager Exchange Edition 2.0.3.0 installed on the hub servers.

I have enabled  Sent Items update.

some clients are not getting signature update in the sent items of outlook while using cached mode.

from OWA, and MS Outlook when connected online, the signature is updated in the sent items.

I have two CAS servers and two mailbox servers. all with Exchange 2013 SP1

I tested each CAS server for the URLs of Autodiscover and EWS, with no errors or warnings.

I also test Autodiscover through https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com . I go successful result.

Outlook clients are updated to the latest version 15.0.4701.1000

for outlook clients; I deleted outlook profile, deleted outlook folder in the user profile, re-created the  outlook profile, with no luck.

from Exclaimer event logs on the Hub servers. the sent items update is successfully updating clients. below is the screenshot of an event for one email message which is successfully updated from exclaimer but it did not update on the client outlook while using cached mode.

Since the issue is with multiple users, I am searching for a centralized solution

Hi All,

Good Day!!!,

Scenario

2 AD Servers

2 Exchange Server 2013 (CAS + Mailbox)

2 Separate OU in AD ( OU=itquery.in & OU=technosavee.com)

We have two OWA page

    https://mail.itquery.in

    https://mail.technosavee.com

Our query is users are created in Itquery OU should not login into their mailbox usinghttps://mail.tecnosavee.com.

Since both users and mailbox are in same domain vice versa they can able to login.

We need to restrict itquery.in OU users should login using onlyhttps://mail.itquery.in

technosavee.com OU users should login using only https://mail.technosavee.com

Any solution will be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks

Weird/Complex Exchange/Outlook 2013 Issue

$

I posted this in the Outlook forum but I was given the recommendation to post it here so I thought I would see if anyone could help.

So we have a client that is creating Outlook calendar events in Outlook 2013 who is running on Exchange 2007 running on a SBS2011 server.  In the body of that message they are putting tons of text in it [primarily it is how they are communicating about the events].  Some users see all the text and some don’t either on their iPhone or in Outlook 2013. They are all using the same version of Outlook. We were told that the mailbox could be corrupted [I don't think so because nothing else is affected]. Another person stated that Microsoft only allows a certain number of characters in the body of the calendar appointment and this issue is not resolvable. Does anyone here have any ideas as to what could be the problem and if it is truly unresolvable?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Normally for migration, we use user's mail ID and password in CSV file. But I don't want to use users credentials, instead I want use Administrator credentials.

Outlook 2013 not saving Office 365 Credentials in Roaming Profiles

$

0

Hi,

We have migrated one of our Exchange Mailboxes to our Office 365 Environment, we have had all the relevant DNS entries put in place, so when the user logs on and opens Outlook 2013, the Wizard picks up there Office 365 Mailbox and configures, it asks you for User Credentials, and you type them in and select remember and then Outlook open fine with all the emails presented,

THE PROBLEM: After this user logs off and logs back on to either the same computer or another computer, and they open Outlook, you are yet again asked for your Credentials again, it remembers the username and not the password, once you enter the password and click remember password it opens Outlook fine

Looking in Credential Manager, I can see that after selecting Remember Credentials, it is putting an entry in Generic Credentials, however when you log off and on again these disappear, I have added Manual Entries in Credential Manager and these are saving!

I have noticed that in %USER%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials when you open Outlook and select remember password, it is adding a system file in here, so I decided to try copy the file to %USER%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Credentials, when I log off this is writing back to the server, and when I log back on it is downloading, HOWEVER when I open Outlook, it still asks for the password! And when I type it in and select remember, it adds the system file back in %USER%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Credentials, and ignores the Roaming one,

So currently I am using a Logoff and Logon Script to copy these Files too and from the relative folders and this works, however it is not ideal

The Script:

LOGOFF
'Test
xcopy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials\ /H /Y

rmdir I:\MSCRM /S /Q
xcopy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MSCRM I:\MSCRM /H /Y /I /E

LOGON
xcopy %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Credentials\ /H /Y

xcopy I:\MSCRM %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MSCRM /H /Y /I /E

MY QUESTION:

So I guess my question is how can you get Outlook to look at the %USER%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Credentials instead of the Local one?

Regards

Andy

CU8 Update - Public Folder Calendar and Contacts show up in OWA that no longer exist and I cannot access when selecting.

$

We recently updated to CU8. I went to test out the new Public Folder access to calendars and contacts.  I first go to Calendars in OWA and I see a list of several calendars.  I see one that is listed twice, one I can open and the other states "Couldn't open calendar - A connection couldn't be made with the shared calendar. Remove the calendar and try to add it again, or ask the owner to share it again." I also see other calendar's that we used in the past but no longer reside under public folders. I get the same error on them.

For People, I can go there and I see a section called "Public Folder" and there is a contact list called "IT Team Contacts".  When I click on it, it states in the middle pane "Your request can't be completed right now.  Please try again later."  This contact list is not on our public folders.

Any ideas on why we I'm seeing these issues?

Thanks,

Jeff Dailey

500 Unexpected Error when accessing Voice Mail rules

$

0

I have an Exchange 2013 environment with Lync2013 and UM.

Having an issue when users (including Exchange admin) try to access shared mailbox OWA (having the appropriate permissions to do so) to setup Voice Mail rules, they get"500 Unexpected Error. An error occurred and your request couldn't be completed. Please try again"

It works fine if they access their own Voice mail rules. Everything else in OWA works fine.

MyVoiceMail option (in the Default Role Assignment Policy) is checked. Executing Get-UMCallAnsweringRule shell command outputs fine without any errors.  Have also tried creating another Role Assignment policy and assigning to the mailboxes but still does not work.

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance.
