Calendar search not working for a specific user - Exchange/Outlook 2013
We have a user on Exchange 2013 that is unable to quick search or advance search his calendar but can search any other shared calendars fine. If you try to access his calendar with full access you can bring it up but as soon as you hit enter on the quick search and advanced search nothing happens. Every now and then it will switch to the white search screen where results usually populate but nothing populates except for this error - "Cannot display the folder. An error occurred while creating the view list". We have tested accessing his calendar from 5 other computers under his login and 4 other logins that we have shared his calendar with and in every scenario we can search on all calendars except for his. When we did a mailboxrepairrequest everything comes back ok. There are no filters enabled on the search either.
It appears to be something with this users Exchange account since it happens on other computers under different user profiles when accessing the same users calendar. We have ran troubleshooting logging in Outlook and there doesn't seem to be anything specific in the logs when trying to search. Its almost like you can type into the calendar quick search and the enter button doesn't work when trying to submit the search request.
Has anyone seen this issue? Any suggestions on what the issue might be on the server side or anything tests, commands to try and narrow down what the issue with this users mailbox might be?
Effects of "disable Exchange Fast Access" on mailboxes with disabled caching
Do you know whether "disable Exchange Fast Access" affects mailboxes with disabled caching? I have users for whom caching was enabled (for their primary mailboxes), but they also have additional mailboxes for which caching is disabled.
Also, do you know whether "disable Exchange Fast Access" affects non-email content, for which caching is disabled in users' primary mailboxes?
Thanks

Performance implications of multilpe shared mailboxes in Outlook configured for no-caching
Hi guys,
Do you have any advice, or if you could point to a best practice doco, about performance issues with Outlook hosting multiple shared mailboxes?
It's a hybrid environment where primary mailboxes with caching enabled for email content only sit in Exchange Online, while shared mailboxes with disabled caching are still hosted in an on-premise Exchange 2010. Clients use both Outlooks 2010 and 2013. The number of attached shared mailboxes varies between 1 and 3, and the size of these mailboxes goes between 10 and 150 GB. The issues are slow loading of Outlook, occasional freezes and long waiting for a message to open or to be moved between folders.
Also, are there any issues with caching shared mailboxes, as it seems that some users reported certain inconsistencies - it happened a while ago and was not documented well, but I assume it was related to calendars? Would caching "email content only" prevent issues with calendaring in shared mailboxes without causing issues with email content?
Thanks
Zoran

AutoDiscover and outlook behavior (without UPN like login)
Hi guys!
Is it possible to use AutoDiscover without entering login in pop up window? I will try to explain.
My outlook auto configuration is working, but on the stage “Search for username@mydomain.com server setting”, I’m getting login/password challenge from Exchange server.
A window appears where login field is set to UPN (e.g. usermame@mydomain.com).
I found similar on the Internet:
Then I change it to “mydomain\username”, enter the password and auto configuration succeed.
User logins (UPN) in my AD are no the same as usermame@mydomain.com.
Is it possible to force AutoDiscover work without additional inputs?
For example set up default realm on virtual directory like with OWA or something?
Exchange servers 2010 & 2013. Outlooks mostly 2010.
Cannot access OWA/ECP except on the server
Out of the blue, we cannot seem to be able to access ecp by mail.domain.com format.
On the server we can access OWA via https://mail.contoso.com
Internally, accessing OWA works via https://mail.contoso.com
Going to our static ip address externally via https://<office-ip>/owa does not work. mail.contoso.com doesn't either.
I have restarted the server with no luck. It appears all services are running, however I had to start Microsoft Exchange Transport Delivery.
We can receive emails and check them via the server itself.
Any ideas what the problem is?
The port is forwarded to the Exchange server and appears to be open. I'm going to contact our ISP but since it's a business account, it should just work. Emails are being received on port 25.
Thanks
Could this be a firewall issue? HTTP and HTTPS are allowed for all and enabled.Unable to add members to distribution lists Outlook 2013
were running exchange 2013 on premise. Clients are outlook 2013.
Users have problems adding people from the address book to their own distribution lists. We can select the users, but when we click add nothing happends. If we do the same thing from outlook 2007 or through OWA we are suceesful.
Anyone who knows where to troubleshoot?
Best regards
Morten
Online Archive folder can't be opened after migration into Exchang2013

reinstall Office helps with Outlook problem
we're just finishing migration to Exchange 2013 and found some Outlook 2013 clients (migrated from Exchange 2010) can't communicate with Exchange 2013. even if i recreate the Outlook profile.
what worked is to reinstall Office 2013. i will also be posting in the Office 2013 forum just want to get ideas why a reinstall fixed the problem.
Explosion of Synchronization Log: emails in Sync Folders and Deleted Items
We currently run a 2007/2013 hybrid with a few thousand users running mailboxes in 365
All has been ok until the last couple of weeks when we have had a large number of calls to our help desk to report Synchronization Log messages.
All our users will be using cached mode and for those in folder view they are sometimes seeing up to 50 logs an hour where as previously that many over a month. What's even stranger is that some users are reporting these logs are appearing in their deleted items folder as unread items
The only updates we have performed recent are CU7 to our on premise 2013 servers but I cant be sure this is related.
I havent yet heard of any other issues so I'm assuming these are just false positive type logs that dont have any detrimental effect on the end user ?
Any ideas on how we can stop them at least appearing in deleted items ? We have had some success recreating outlook profiles but this isnt viable for several thousand users and I'm not convinced its going to be a long term fix anyway.
Personal Folders re missing in Outlook 2011

Searching old emails
Hi,
I am having trouble searching for old emails via Outlook. If I sort my Sent Items, and then click the link at the bottom to get more from Exchange, I see them all. However, using the Outlook search tools doesn't find them - even if I do an advanced search and use the date field to specify dates.
Is there a way to do this from Outlook?
Thanks!

Outlook certificate warning for Exchange servers FQDN
We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and have the following setup:
- 1 Ex2010 server:
sola-exchange.addomain.local
- 3 Ex2013 servers set up in a DAG:
sola-ex13-1.addomain.local, sola-ex13-2.addomain.local, sola-ex13-3.addomain.local
- Split DNS with all Virtual Directorys set with the same internal and external hostnames in URL:
webmail.domain.com, oa.domain.com, eas.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com.
- DNS round-robin for the above domain names pointing to each of the 2013 server IPs
- Wildcard certificate *.domain.com
- NTLM authentication for Outlook Anywhere, the CertPrincipleName has been set to msstd:*.domain.com
The problem:
Everything seems to work as it should, but users are presented with a certificate warning 20 or so seconds after opening Outlook.
Example: When I open Outlook I get a warning that the certificate name does not correspond with the name of the server. It tries to connect to "sola-ex13-3.addomain.local" and the certificate is the wildcard *.domain.com.
An other user might get the same warning but for an other server FQDN, sola-ex13-2.addomain.local.
This does not happen when connecting externally. Published with a TMG server.
Why does Outlook try to connect to a servers FQDN when al the virtual directory URLs are set?
Cannot Set automatic reply "The server is currently unavailable"
I am a bit puzzled. External users are unable to set the automatic reply while connected with Outlook (RPC over Http).
"your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the serveris currently unavailable. Try again later."
I have checked the externalurl for the exchange webservicen, and have verified that I can access the exchange webservices from externally.
They get free busy info, but cannot set the automatic reply.
When I access the externalurl (https://whatever.whatever.com/ews/Exchange.asmx), i get prompted to authenticate, which i do. The credentials are accepted and the expected xml page is displayed. I also do not get a certificate warning when accessing the website.
This kind of proves that both the externalurl configuration and the certificate are ok. Any idea?
Autodiscover is not used.
Have verified that the settings in IIS are set accordingly:
Step 2: Verify IIS settings:
======================
1. On Exchange CAS server, open IIS console,
2. Go to default web site, double click “SSL Settings”, make sure Client Certificates is set to“Ignore”
3. Click Autodiscover, double click “SSL Settings”, make sure Client Certificates is set to “Ignore”
4. Click EWS, double click “SSL Settings”, make sure Client Certificates is set to “Ignore”
5. Click OAB, double click “SSL Settings”, make sure Client Certificates is set to “Ignore”
6. Please run IISRESET command to load the changes.
7. On client computer, open IE, try to visit https://mail.domain.com,
confirm it is successful. Try to visit

Client access issues when mailboxes are mounted on a specific mailbox server
One of our 3 mailbox servers gives us an error when mailbox databases are mounted on it.
All web services are not functioning properly, there is an event log error for each web service web.config file saying file not found, If I open each web.config file and look at the line in question they all point to:
<assemblies>
<add assembly="Microsoft.Exchange.Security, Version=15.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" />
</assemblies>
Does anyone know what this is pointing at or what my server is missing?
It is Exchange 2013 Sp1 RU7 as are my other 2 mbx servers which work fine...
all pre-req's are installed as I double checked and no difference between the 3 mbx servers that I can see...
