Exchange 2013 cached Mode

Hello,

I have following issue.

Exchange 2013 on a windows 2012.

Outlook 2010 client has cached mode disabled on a windows 7 sp1 or windows xp sp3 or terminal server windows 2008r2.

Some users retrieve also e-mail from a pop3 mail-account into their exchange mailbox.

All e-mail that isn retrieved comes in the mailbox but not as a new message but as a sort of draft. When you click on the message it opens and you see the message as it was a message ready to sent to 'yourself' and all other people in 'To' and 'CC' field.

Microsoft Outlook Web Access and The Windows 8 Mail App?

So the college I'm attending uses the Microsoft Outlook Web Access to run it's e-mail through. And I can't figure out for the life of me how to add my college e-mail address to the Windows 8 Mail App..
When adding an account to the mail app I tried using the "Outlook" option and that didn't work.. It kept saying "We couldn't find settings for your e-mail address" then asking me the Domain and Username... Which I'm not too sure what it's asking me for there.. Or how to get that information from my college's Outlook Web Access site..
I also tried the "Other" option, it asks me if it's IMAP or POP and I tried both and it tells me it still can't find settings for my e-mail and asks me for The incoming IMAP email server and the outgoing SMTP email server when i try to use the IMAP option; and it says it doesn't support POP email accounts..
And the third option "Activesync" tells me it can't find my email address' settings and again asks me for a domain and username..

Removing Owa from address

Hi, I have a client that is going from Exchange 2003 to 2013 soon.  The client previosly had there outlook url so that there was no /exchange at the end of it. They would like the same setup with the new server so that the /owa isnt at the end of the URL

I have found articles on redirecting the /owa to the root of the webpage for Exchange 2010 but havent found instructions for 2013 yet, im assuming it would be the same instructions for 2013, is this correct?

Also, is there any adverse effects to getting rid of the /owa in the url?  Such as will Exchange Active Sync be effected in anyway?

Thanks

Mike

Hello people!
I am a tech support in a company who use Outlook 2010.
One of the user encounters issue when searching mails in his mailbox.
We cannot find maybe 50% of the mails by any kind of key word : object, sender, etc...
I tried a lot of things to rebuild the index, uninstall/reinstall the Windows Search, etc...
The fact is that the user have the same problem in Outlook Web Access so I supposed it came from Exchange ...
So from Exchange how can I repair this index ?
Thanks you !!

Exchange 2013 - Outlook 2010 Cached mode - Error 0x8004011C and 0x80040115

Hello all,

Following problem: Exchange server 2013 installed on an windows Server 2012. Client connecting with Outlook 2007 and 2010. All users using cached mode because they are out of the office a lot of time. The problem we have is if the user is on the road , sending an recieving mail is not a problem. While they are in the office the outlook client updates the folders and says "Online". When the user sends a message the message is stuck in the outbox. When clicking on send and recive we got an eror "unknow error 0x8004011C" and while transmitting error 0x80040115 for this action the exchange server should be online... but the server is online because the folders are beeing updated. Looking into autodiscovery and so all url's are correct.

Anyone having a tip ?

many thanks

Chris

Outlook 2013 cannot expand public folder list

Hi all,

I have an Exchange Server 2013 and working fine with Outlook 2010 include Mail/Public Folder functions.

But when I use Outlook 2013 and take the same method (autodiscover) to setup a profile then I got an

issue with "Public Folder" that is when I try to expand Public Folder List it prompts "Cannot expand the folder.  Microsoft Exchange is not available.  Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance."

I have checked server services and they seems running fine. I start to confuse with why Outlook 2010 working fine but Outlook 2013 bad on Public Folder that all connect to the same Exchange Server?

Any Idea?

Thanks In Advance!!

Sincerely,

Jack

Outlook 2010 prompts for login during profile creation

I'm having an issue with Window XP and Outlook 2007/2010. When I try to create a profile on a Windows XP machine I get up to where it auto fills the server name/mailbox and then it prompts for a username/password. I've tried a new windows profile, uninstalling and reinstalling Office, disjoin and rejoin the machine to the domain and it keeps doing this and I've been unable to get Outlook to work on this machine. It has happened to two XP workstations, one had Outlook 2010 and one has 2007. I do not know if it happening to any other workstations. There are no issues whatsoever with Windows 7 desktops running Outlook 2010. It appears to only be an issue with XP.

Vincent Sprague

I checked further and it is effecting more XP workstations so it seems to be just isolated to Windows XP.

External users not able to send to a user in our office

One of our users mailbox was disconnected from his AD account.  Then that mailbox was purged.  He comes back again after some time and we start with a brand new mailbox and joined it to

his existing AD account.

External people who were able to send him emails before had his email address in their mail client cache. Now when they send him email using the same email address from their cache they get a bounce back. I don’t have that NDR as of yet.  The email address has not changed and it is the same. Is there some other way this issue can be rectified besides the user calling all those external business users and telling them to clear the cache. This user does not have their email addresses.

Thanks

"connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" turns itself off.

I seem to be having the opposite problem of all the questions/solution I can find regarding "connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP".  In my case I have a client (I'm an IT consultant) whose PC's/Laptop's Outlook client will "un-check" (randomly)  the "connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP" option.  They will then have to check it and then re-enter all the proxy settings.

The Exchange server is physically not onsite...it's at the parent company location so they need to have this checked to connect.

The PCs/Laptops have never been connected to a domain...there is no domain controller onsite at the location.

This issue started recently, I believe it was around November 2012.  Prior to that it worked for years....the Exchange server is SBS 2003.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

OWA 2010 Password Expiration Display

$

Have a Exchange 2010 SP2 RU4 v2 setup.  Kemp load balancer to 2 CAS arrays to 2 mailbox servers in a DAG.

Configured both CAS servers to do password reset by adding a DWORD registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA\ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled and setting it to 1.  This was done a few months ago so servers have been thru a few restarts since then.

If a password has expired and a user attempts to log in, they are prompted to change the password.  Once they do, they continue on to OWA.   I've done it myself, so I know it works.

However, if a user has a password that is set to expire within our notification period (30 days as configured in AD), the password expiration notice does not appear in OWA.  If the user logs on to a desktop within the 30 day period, they are informed their password will expire.

I've double checked the registry settings, and had a user bypass the load balancer and log in to OWA on the CAS arrays directly.   Same result, they received no notification message.

Any suggestions?  I seem to remember it working during our testing phase, but just heard from our help desk they aren't seeing it.

TIA,

Mike

Server is Exc2010 SP2 RU4v2.

I have quota restrictions in place and not quite sure why I don't see the quota notification/thermometer on the Outlook 2010 bottom bar on the left.  I right click on the bottom bar and Click on Quota Information and it does not change to ON ...simply stays on OFF.

$

I have a user who created a client rule, in Outlook 2010 64bit on a  windows 7 64bit machine.  Where on a hosted Exchange 2010.

Apply this rule after I send the message

sent to Jane Doe

and using the meeting request form

assing to the Jane Do category

However the meeting will not show up on the calendar with the assigned category color.

I've tested this on 5 different PCs with the same configuration. Three do not work, two do.

Any ideas as to why or how to get this to work?  It seems a simply enough rule.
