Outlook 2013 & OWA not retrieving / sending to Exchange 2013

$

Hi

Have a strange problem with Outlook 2013 - this is connecting to Exchange 2013 on an internal network. My client machine is a Surface Pro 2 running Outlook 2013, with our internal wifi. Everything connects fine to the domain and our proxy servers etc.. but for some reason at times Outlook is unable to retrieve emails even though it shows as Connected to Microsoft Exchange.

We use a http connection for Exchange and this goes through our OWA site, which oddly has a similar problem at the same time. I can login to OWA and browse emails but when I go to send a mail in OWA it shows an error saying its not connected to the internet.

So the question is why would I be able to connect to Exchange and browse email, yet not be able to sync and retrieve mail in Outlook 2013 or send email in OWA?

In the connection status viewer all the http connects for outlook seem to be running fine with HTTP connected but does anyone know a way to test the connectivity through to exchange for sending / retrieving email and why would this also affect OWA

Going crazy with this one so appreciate any help

Note orginally posted in the Office community and recommened to ask here instead :)

Thanks

Alex

Intermittent Outlook Client Access by clients

We have been experiencing connectivity issues with Outlook clients to our Exchange Server 2013. These are internal clients and autodiscover is set up using a SCP setting in our AD.

If a client gets connected - then it tends to stay connected OK. We are currently using OWA as a backup and that is working fine. Email delivery internal / external is all behaving fine.

The error below is appearing very frequently since the issue was triggered.

Thanks

Paul

Notes are blank in Outlook 2013 after updating the note in IOS 8

$

The setup:

On my computer, Windows 7 and Outlook 2013 (Exchange 2013 on the server side).

I create a new note and close it. I can open it, modify it, and everything works as expected.

On my iPhone 6 with IOS 8.0.2, I go into the same note. Everything looks fine. If I modify it and close it, I can open it and everything looks fine.

Now the issue...When I go back to Outlook on my PC and open the same note (subject/title shows in the list view), the note is completely blank.

So, I go back to my phone and everything still looks ok. If I type in the now blank note on the PC, it overwrites the old note contents.

To make all this even stranger, if I log into OWA, the note is there and works fine through this entire process (well, until I overwrite the contents). But, in OWA, it seems to strip out the subject on certain saves.

I tried all this on another laptop I have lying around and get the same results. I tried a new profile. I tried safe mode. All the same.

This leads me to believe that Outlook 2013 has issues displaying notes. If OWA has the correct info, then the server has the correct info.

Does anyone else have this issue or can try to replicate the issue? Any suggestions on fixing it?

Add Symantec SSL seal to OWA web interface

Dear All,

I need to add Symantec SSL seal to show the symantec secure logo on OWA website when users try to log on, to add the logo we generate a code from Symantec portal and import it in the website code.

the question is

- what file should I edit in? and where should i place the generated code?

also please check this link for more clarification:

Intermittent Fail to Receive Email

$

I'm experiencing an odd situation with one of my users.  An account from a specific external domain will intermittently fail to arrive.  In today's case she was copied on the email along with another of my users.  He was able to receive the email and she was not.  There is no error or postmaster message in her email.  There is nothing in her Junk or Deleted Items.  She was able to see the message when my other user forwards it to her.

I don't understand how one person in my building will receive and another won't.  I have no errors so no clues to start off with.

Outlook 2010 - Send Receive Hangs When Downloading The Offline Address Book

$

Hello There,

I have an issues where the Offline Address Book (OAB) will not download if I have a USB VOIP headset amplifier plugged in.

The amplifier we use is (Plantronics DA60):

I go to "Send Receieve" tab, "Send/Receive Groups", "Download Address Book...", Uncheck the "Download changes since last Send/Receive" box, and then click "OK".

The send receive box comes up and it hangs on "Copying offline address book template file".

If I unplug the amplifier the OAB will download with no problems. I thought it may be related to this Microsoft knowledgebase article: 2619347

Which recommends upgrading the devices driver; the issue is that it doesn't use a third party driver, it uses built in windows drivers.

Here is the response I got from Plantronics regarding the driver:

The drivers your Plantronics USB headset requires should load automatically when you plug the headset into your computer - no software is necessary. The drivers, which are native to the Windows operating system, are as follows:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\drmk.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\portcls.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\USBAUDIO.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\SysFxUl.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WMALFXGFXDSP.dll
If you are missing one or more of these files, check your Windows installation CD or visit your computer manufacturer's web site, and then save them to the proper folder.

At this point in time I am at a loss for what to try next; any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Shane

OWA 2010 not receiving some emails

The environment where I work uses Cisco IronPort to scan emails and then send them on or reject them.  I have spoken with Cisco Support and they have found that the IronPort is sending the emails once scanned on to OWA which seems to occasionally not accept the messages.  Is there a specific spot where I should start to find out why this is happening?

Missing number of unread email.

I have a single user who has two mailboxes set up In outlook 13, both connected to exchange online.

Both of these mailboxes are set to display the number of unread emails next to the folder name however one of them stops doing this every few days, repairing the account resolves this but it is very frustrating for the user.

Even after it stops displaying the unread count the option shows as still selected in the folder properties.

Any ideas out there?

Emails showing as unread, when there are no unread emails.

Hello all,

This is something that is occurring for one of my clients, and it has now occurred three times in the last 6 months.  I can always set the count back to correct by unchecking use cached exchange mode, and doing a sync with the server. Again, I know how to fix this.  What I am looking for is an underlying reason to keep this from happening again.

What causes this?  The environment is this:  Office 365 Enterprise (I know this may be in the wrong forum, but according to microsoft the technologies, including screens you see, are the same between Hosted Exchange 2013 and Enterprise O365), Windows 7, Outlook 2013.  They do have good internet, so if the answer is leaving cached exchange mode off, I could implement that, but don't really want to.  I do not think this user gets his emails anywhere other then the computer he works on, but am not fully sure, and am not sure how not using cached exchange mode will work in this case.

I appreciate all suggestions, but again, am really looking to find out what causes this to occur.  I have done some reading on other forums, and in this forum, but it seems all there is to find is how to fix the issue after it has occurred, not keep it from occurring.  Thank you all in advance.

Spam sits in Inbox

Good day all,

I'm experiencing an issue with outlook and the Junk sitting in the inbox folder until the user is logged in.

I have access to one of my colleagues inboxes and when I got to the in Inbox it's full of spam e-mails. To solve this I have to log my colleague into their computer and then launch outlook. This then moves the junk automatically into the Junk folder.

I've tried creating a new outlook profile for them, still happening.

I've deleted them off of the exchange server (In Exchange and AD) and then re-added them with a different username. Doesn't work.

It's not a firewall issue either as I don't have the issue and neither do any other of my colleagues. I can log onto the same PC that he uses and my Outlook is fine.

If you require any more information, I'll help the best I can.

Thanks,

MrWoodward.

Dear Members,

i am really thankful for you i have learn a lot of things from this forum.......today i want to ask one question about outlook, we have a website and we use the company email addresses some period ago we received a lot of spam emails when we talk to our hosting company they said we will transfer your website to a new server. as they transferred it to new server all the email address were deleted automatically. but we got the backup of emails and create all the email address with same id again,,,,........problem....is this that now we can't connect through outlook for example if i try to setup outlook it goes up to "try unencypted connection" and here stops that can not establish a connection. if i go directly to mail server there all is fine. the hosting company give us all the spec that incoming port should be 110 outgoing 587 and pop3. i tried all this but not working even i tried on such a computer where never outlook was installed .....but there it does not work as well..................Thanks;;;;;;;;

Test Exchange Connectivity - why is it pinging the wrong server?

$

When I run the Outlook Connectivity test using the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyser it passes every test until the final one: 'Testing the MAPI Address Book endpoint on the Exchange Server'. It appears to ping one of our Domain Controllers rather than the Exchange server. Is that why it's failing? If so, what setting do I change to make it ping the Exchange server instead?

Here's a snip from the final part of the test:

When resizing an appointment in Outlook 2013: The reminder for "Appointment" will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders. Is this OK?

Everytime I create an appointment in my Exchange 2010 calendar and try to resize it, I get the following error:

The reminder for "Appointment" will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn't support reminders. Is this OK?

Of course it's not OK. :)

This is a Exchange 2010 calendar (running in cached mode), not a PST or archive. It is my actual calendar. The mailbox has been converted from Exchange 2003 to 2010 a while ago. I never had these problems in Exchange 2003.

I tried running Outlook /cleanreminders, but that doesn't help.

It also doesn't matter if Outlook is run in cached or non-cached mode.

What should I do?

Error proxing from OWA 2013 to Mailboxes in 2010

We have a problem about the Exchange 2013 OWA accessing to a mailbox in Exchange 2010, if the mailbox is in 2013, the OWA works like a charm, but if I use another user mailbox that is residing in 2010, appears a screen shows me that something gone wrong, but does not shows more details, I searched in the application viewer, Exchange management, system, the IIS log in CAS and Mailbox of 2013 and 2010 and there's nothing correlated to this issue.
The servers are Exchange 2010 Sp3 last CU, Exchange 2013 CU5, the schema and domain are in 2013 CU5.
This problem presented previously with Exchange 2013 SP1 (CU4), so I update the Exchange 2013 to CU5, but the problem remained, so I think that the issue is not in the Exchange
Only shows:

Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

Is there some thing that I can enable to try to get a detail or clue for this problem? because in any place there are not a error code or something else to dig

I saw another sites that describes a problem about the canary, but this is not the issue
I saw other about problems to open another user mailbox, so that neither apply to this situation

In the ADSIedit, I saw the info in the picture.

All the configuration  and modifications are writen to CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYD...), and the other I think that came from another previous update, I'm afraid if I delete that subtree can be worst for all the Exchange organization or may be not. But I not sure if that can be the issue.

The CN=Primera Organizacion has not subfolders

Outlook templates with blank body after switching to Exchange 2013

$

I have a few Outlook 2013 templates created to help me speed up some processes.  The messages have some wording in the body and predefined users in the To and Cc fields, and a subject.  When I open one of those templates to send it out, it sends out with whatever was already predefined in the body of the template but if I add text to the body of the message, the text does not go with the message.  The recipients get a blank body and it's also blank in my sent items.  I was just changed over to Exchange 2013 from Exchange 2010 and this procedure was working on Exchange 2010.

I'm trying to find out if someone else is/was having this same issue and if anyone knows how to fix it.

**Edit - I was able to work around the issue by changing my templates from HTML format to RTF format.  Just a workaround, not a fix though.
