Proxy setting "On fast networks connect using HTTP etc..." checkmark is never remembered.

Good Sirs and Madams,

We have a strange problem with one of our customers.

When the option in proxy-settings in Outlook 2013 "On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP" is turned on, Outlook 2013 as a whole is really slow. When I uncheck that option, Outlook 2013 is fast again.

But when the PC is rebooted, the checkbox is ticked again. It doenst seem to remember that option. As a result, Outlook 2013 is slow again. How can I make sure the option is remembered?

Things I have tried:

Finding a Powershell command for this. Only found a powershell 2010 command which doesn't work on Exchange Online. Forcing a GPO is no possibility because its just a small office which doesn't use a domain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Strange outlook behaviour in coexistence scenario

Hi All,

This is the design I have:

Site A: Exchange 2013 with 1 CAS and 1 Mailbox

Site B: Exchange 2007 with 1 HUB/CAS and a MBX Cluster

Site C: same as Site B

Exchange 2013 is CU 5

From outlook, if I change the selected e-mail it takes at least 3 second to display the content in the preview pane, if I send sometimes outlook freezes and the email is sent after a while (can be 2 from 15 seconds)

The site A is a new site which will take over site B and C, i've got 1 DC in there at the moment and to open ADUC it takes really a long time.

I did all the connectivity and DNS tests and the result for everything is just "passed".

Same behaviour for the connectivity test within exchange 2013.

The RPC diag in outlook shows connected and a response time between 100 and 120ms.

The event viewer of all exchange server is clean.

This is not happening using owa and the users who are on 2007 are not experiencing this problem.

Any idea?

Thanks!

2 specific users cannot use outlook, but webmail works, prior Exchange DB crash

Hello,

I am having an issue where 2 of my users (out of 700) cannot connect outlook to out Exchange 2013 server (any version of outlook on any computer).

I will start with a little backstory, our SAN had some drives that went bad two weeks ago, luckily we did not lose any LUNs, but it seems to have corrupted the exchange database in the process.

I was having issues doing backups with AppAssure so the Exchange server was restarted, when it came up the exchange DB was in a dirty shutdown state.

I was then able to recover the database and get everyone but 3 users working. The MailBoxrepair would not fully run on any of the 3, and 2 of them were crashing the DB and were then getting quarantined for it. One of the users I fixed by creating a new DB and moving them over to it, so we're down to the 2 I am talking about now.

In fixing their mailboxes, I backed up their PST's, then disabled their mailboxes (not deleting them) then created a new mailbox for each, then re-imported their PST's.

This worked for each user, but existing users could no longer send mail to these 2 users as they were getting bouncebacks of undeliverable with the following

IMCEAEX-_o=NSUP_ou=First+20Administrative+20Group_cn=Recipients_cn=User@domain.com
Remote Server returned '550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found'

According to the info I found, this was due to the legacyExchangeDN attribute being incorrect, so I updated it to match the format of the users in the organization (had what appeared to be a GUID at the end of it previously), and others were then able to send mail to these 2 users.

At this point, Outlook for each of the users refuses to connect to the Exchange server and update their email. I can open Outlook with a previously created profile and see all of the old mail, but cannot send or receive new.

Trying to create a new Outlook profile and login results in "Cannot open your Default folders, you must connect to exchange once..." but the initial setup of the account autodiscovers and works properly.

Disabling cached exchange mode results in a different error, which is along the lines of "Cannot open your .ost file"

Both users currently are working via OWA with no issues, but obviously this is not the best solution.

Below is a snippet from the RPC logs

2014-08-26T03:42:55.943Z,208,0,X500:/o=ORG/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=User,,OUTLOOK.EXE,14.0.6114.5000,Cached,73.52.206.118,"Connection Info[GUID:7ae56e74-3af9-4f55-9683-5a128b2ffd0c, Attempts:1, Flags:0, Ctx:]",::1,ncacn_http,,df8350ac-ced5-41bf-9fa7-d988775b1161|50a96ef7-4503-4f8d-8c5c-ecd4b5f59027,"""{574B6407-8B5D-4A4C-82AB-59331C40E2A3} Outlook=14.0.6114.5000 OS=6.1.7601""",Connect,0,00:00:00,"SID=S-1-5-21-606747145-2146925463-725345543-10931, Flags=None",,,

The value of the legacyExchangeDN is

I have tried with and without the X500 before, but errors are the same

Does anyone have any ideas as to why these two users only cannot connect?

Exchange 2010 - Sent on behalf using Outlook 2007/2010

Ok..here's a strange one!

Exchange 2010, clients are Outlook 2007/Outlook 2101. Permissions are set the same in the EMC as delegates to "send on behalf". Both have "Full Access" permissions on this mailbox.

Both users can send an email selecting the mailbox address that they have permissions to. One shows "on behalf of"(Outlook 2007), the other shows as being sent by that mailbox (Outlook 2010). I even gave myself the same permissions as a delegate and full access permissions and using Outlook 2007, and get the same result of the email showing as being sent by that mailbox and not as "on behalf of".

I've been Googling the heck out of this, but can't find anything that seems to relate. I've even logged into a machine as that mailbox account and tried adding myself as a delegate there. I did confirm on both exchange and the client that if a delegate is added on either side it shows up correctly.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Cameron

Exchange 2010 OWA "You need to choose a recipient before this message can be sent" error

Hi all,
In our company we use Exchange Server 2010 SP1 with 4 servers (2 of them CAS Array with HUB role and 2 of them Mailbox DAG).  There is a problem as with a mailbox account:

User want to send a mail to approximately 450 recipients as BCC from OWA, but he recieves"You need to choose a recipient before this message can be sent" and "an error has occurred and your request could not be completed. Problem persists, this HTTP contact your help desk with status code: 500 "errors.

The error report contains

Exception
Exception type: System.Web.HttpException
Exception message: Request timed out.

If the user sends a mail to one recipient in OWA, it is sent with no problem.

If the user sends the same mail to same recipients in Outlook 2010, it is sent with no problem.

I applied the last Windows Updates, I moved the mailbox to different mailbox database, I rebooted the CAS&HUB servers but nothing changed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

XLSM files blocked through OWA even though allowed in virtual directory setting

I checked the virtual directory settings through powershell and xlsm files are in the allowed file types list.  We don't do the public/private setting so everyone connects through the public option.  I've tried adding the OWA URL to intranet and trusted websites.

The xlsm attachment icon is greyed out and I get the "Access to this attachment is blocked" message when clicking on the icon. What am I missing?

DNS name expired, Outlook on clients can't connect to exchange anymore

Dear forum people,

We have a pro account with dyndns that kept all the dns names in check. The credit card that paid for this had expired and that wiped the DNS names we had on there. After contacting the US customer service after alot of hastle, I got a salesman on the line that promised us that if i resubscribed for the ProAccount with a new credit card he would fix this. So I renewed but ofc the DNS names never came back. Typical me being so naïve that a salesman would take care of us after we had paid.

Problem:

--------------------------

The Outlook on the laptops can't connect to the exchange server.

1. I get a message box from outlook saying:
"autodiscover.(DomainName).be - information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate.
GOOD - the security certificate is from a trusted certifying authority
GOOD - the security certificate date is valid
NOT GOOD - the name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"

+'disconnected'

Question:

----------------------------------

I have no prior knowledge of Email mechanics but i'm pretty sure I just need to reinstate the correct dns name + settings of the dns name so the connection can be made again with the exchange server. Any suggestions where I should start finding out what the settings should be like?

§1 I'm pretty sure the emails are routed over the website which is somewhere else

§2 I did not set up the DNS names myself

§3 I have an amature IT background

Exchange OWA/Activesync conflicting with RD Gateway role

$

I've been bouncing my head over the following issue the last couple of days

I currently have the following set up:

I have a windows server 2012 with microsoft exchange 2013 CAS Role, RD Gateway, RD Web roles.

When I assign my domain certificate to the RD Gateway role it adds a new binding to the "Exchange Back End" website port *:443. This conflicts with the "Defauly Web Site" and stops the "Exchange Back End" website.

If I keep the 443 binding on the "Exchange Back End  website, OWA/Active sync dont work, but the RD Gateway is reachable externally.

When I remove the 443 binding from the "Exchange Back End" website, OWA/Active sync works again but the gateway isnt reachable externally.

Does anybody know a solution to this problem, so that both my Exchange servers is reachable and my RD Gateway functions properly?

Cheers,

Danny

OWA and IRM

$

0

Outlook (2010 SP2) and OWA (Exchange 2013 CU5) have different behavior when viewing a message secured with AD RMS.

I have enabled IRM successfully for internal use.  Viewing secured messages via Outlook works as expected.  The issue is when I view the message via OWA, I can see the body content.  The content is not protected, only attachments are protected.

A message that is intended to be protected but without attachments can be viewed via OWA even if it has been set to expire.  Viewing the same message in Outlook is prohibited, as it should be.

This seems like a bug since a user can get to secured content simply by using the web browser.  Is there a way around this or is this by design for some reason?

Is there any way to reorganize contacts by moving them between folders using OWA 2013?  In previous version, contacts could be dragged and dropped to other folders, but I do not see the ability to do this in 2013, nor any other way to do it.

Hi,

Few days ago a couple of company workers went to vacation. They set up OOF automatic replies in OWA 2013. However automatic replies are not working for external recipients (outside of company). Internal users (company users) receive OOF notification.

I'm using smart host in sender connector configuration (SMTP server of internet provider) to deliver emails. Any clues about this problem ? Please find below part of the transaction log. For testing purposes i set up administrator account to be on vacation.
