Exchange Co-Existence and virtual directories

We are currently running Exchange 2007, 2010 and 2013 in the same site. Our external connections point to our production namespace (company.domain.com) which is our 2013 CAS servers. We have a legacy namespace for our 2007 environment. Our 2010 server have no mailboxes and will not be used, it has it's own namespace. We have one mailbox that 5 ad accounts access, They do not have their own mailboxes they all access this one. It always worked withhttps://mail.domain.com/owa/username@domain.com. Since we moved our connections to 2013 they can no longer login to this account. They get the error "Outlook Web Access could not find a mailbox for EXCHANGE\Administrator. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization and tell them the following: The mailbox may be stored on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 or Microsoft Exchange 2003 server, or the Active Directory user account was created recently and has not yet replicated to the Active Directory site where this Client Access server is hosted."

Any assistance appreciated.

PST Import via Shell

Hi.

In Exchange 2013 when importing PST file, the EAC allow us to “Send email to the mailbox below when the .pst file has been exported”. (Note, there is typo here because it’s supposed to say “imported”).

Well, I’m trying to archived the same thing via PowerShell but the “New-MailboxImportRequest” doesn’t allow me send an email when the request it’s done.

Does anyone know how to send a notification email when the mailbox import request start and it’s finished?

Thank you.

the name on the security certificate is invalid exchange

Hi,

We have Exchange Online, Exchange 2013 and exchange 2010 coexistence. Is an Hybrid deployment

2010:

1 server (mbx, cas, hub)

1 server (edge)

2013

2 servers (mbx, hub/cas)

1 edge

And we have mailboxes in Office365 (exchange online)

First we are trying to shutdown our 2010 infraestructure. We begin with the mailbox/cas server.

I shutdown the server and in all outlook clients that mailboxes are in exchange 2013 appears a certificate error when open outlook:

http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Media/0000036/00001.png

"The name of the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site"

We added the IP from our mbx 2010 to 2013 but doesnt work

any ideas???

Outlook/Exchange Won't Deliver Duplicate Messages

For testing purposes, I often send multiple automated messages to myself that are identical and it seems that Outlook/Exchange is being "smart" by not delivering subsequent messages that are the same.

Does anyone know is this is the case? If so, can I turn this functionality off?

OWA and IRM

Outlook (2010 SP2) and OWA (Exchange 2013 CU5) have different behavior when viewing a message secured with AD RMS.

I have enabled IRM successfully for internal use.  Viewing secured messages via Outlook works as expected.  The issue is when I view the message via OWA, I can see the body content.  The content is not protected, only attachments are protected.

A message that is intended to be protected but without attachments can be viewed via OWA even if it has been set to expire.  Viewing the same message in Outlook is prohibited, as it should be.

This seems like a bug since a user can get to secured content simply by using the web browser.  Is there a way around this or is this by design for some reason?

Meeting Organizer's Name Appears in the Subject line

I'm using outlook web access, provided by my Web-hosting provider.

I've a tricky problem, that I could not solve:
1) Make an appointment with subject line "Test"
2) add particpant: "somefriend@hisemail.com"
3) Now he receives an invitation with the subject line: "Organizer "N N" sends you an inviation for: Test"

Is this behaviour to change, i.e. the subject should be "Test" for my friend? Now his calendar is messed up with "organizer...."

everywhere.

Any hint to solve this problem, either client or server side, is appreciated.

When connected to Exchange 2013, using Outlook 2013 from Pro Plus, when you search "all mailboxes" does it search the in-place archive also?

As folks migrate to Exchange 2013 and use the in-place archive (aka online archive) using a supported version of Outlook (which I find a bit confusing as to which versions are able to view in-place archive), so people may reluctantly allow old email to be moved to the in-place archive.

They will ask if when they search for key words and select "all mailboxes", does the search also search the in-place archive?

Do imported emails from pst files get saved to Exchange Server?

$

So I exported a user's email into a pst file and I'm importing all of them into his new email address.  My question is whether these newly imported emails will be only available locally or will they be uploaded into the Exchange server (which is TWC's hosted service) and therefore he'll be able to  access them from his phone as well?  If they are not uploaded, how would I go about to making these emails available on his phone through his new email address as well then?

Unable to access OWA or ECP. - "Something went wrong" or "500 unexpected error"

Our environment consist of 3 client access servers with 8 mailbox servers.  I recently installed windows updates on all of the servers.  Now when a user tries to access OWA it fails and says "Something went wrong" when I try to access ECP I receive "500 unexpected error"

I have tried building a new CAS and mailbox servers with the default settings but it still fails.  I did not install the latest Windows updates on the new servers.  I tried creating new databases with new users and it also fails.

iOS OWA fails after password change using Outlook in Office 365

$

Using OWA on ipad running latest iOS.  Outlook is in office365 running hybrid mode with our on premises exchange 2010/AD 2010

When I change my password, OWA for ipad stupidly just continuously fails to connect.  No prompt for a password, nothing.  there's no setting I can see to re-enter credentials, so I'm forced to go into the application settings and wipe everything.  once that's been done and I re-enter my details everything works as it should until my next password change.

Nobody else seems to be complaining about this though?  Is it just us?

As is, it's not an experience I can recommend to our general population!

additional: seems this is not just OWA for iPad.  standard iPad email seemed to do it last time too.

XLSM files blocked through OWA even though allowed in virtual directory setting

I checked the virtual directory settings through powershell and xlsm files are in the allowed file types list.  We don't do the public/private setting so everyone connects through the public option.  I've tried adding the OWA URL to intranet and trusted websites.

The xlsm attachment icon is greyed out and I get the "Access to this attachment is blocked" message when clicking on the icon. What am I missing?

Hello everyone,

owavirtualdirectory but failed with the error "The Path 'D:\Exchange2013\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\owa' doesn't exist on 'xxxxxx'", actually the folder is there...We tried copy the "owa" folder from another server also but still failed. We check the folder permission all are default settings.

Could you please let's know how can I make this work? I don't want to reinstall the server right now...

Thanks a lot guys!!!

Best regards

Filter Default GAL for OWA in Exchange 2013 CU5

$
0
0

We are currently running Exchange 2010 sp3 and have a setup where we are providing email services to independent contractors who connect to us for email primarily using webmail.  We do not wish for the contractors to see each other in their address books.  We have long used the MSExchQueryBaseDN attribute in AD to specify an OU which has just a couple of corporate mail contacts in it and this is what all users see as the only entries in their address list when using outlook web app.

I have stood up our Exchange 2013 CU5 environment and have moved a few test users over to it.  Unfortunately the directory does not even appear when composing a new message and brining up the address book (only the user's contacts appear).  If I return the MSExchQueryBaseDN attribute to NULL value, the directory appears with ALL objects in it of course.

I initially thought maybe this type of segregation was no longer supported in Exchange 2013, but I found that in fact there is a new powershell command to set it in 2013 (Set-Mailbox -Identity Test User -QueryBaseDN "OU=Corp,DC=Domain,DC=Root").  Previously we had to do this manually in AD.

Should this type of filtering still work?  Any ideas why I'm seeing the behavior I am?

Note that I realize this likely could be handled by doing the following, of which I would only do as a last resort:

1) I could create an ABP for every contractor with an address list that contains only them (if I was talking about a handful, this would be OK but not really viable for hundreds).

2) I've seen info out there on filtering the MsExchSearchBase of the Default Global Address List.  I could set this to my OU which contains just the corporate contacts I wish users to see.  I don't know if this would cause any other impact though to my webmail-only users.  I also have a small subset which connect using RPC over HTTPS and we have Address Book Policies setup for each of those offices so that they only see their own office in their Global Address List so I don't think these users would be impacted either, but wanted to throw it out there.

Organize Contacts OWA 2013

Is there any way to reorganize contacts by moving them between folders using OWA 2013?  In previous version, contacts could be dragged and dropped to other folders, but I do not see the ability to do this in 2013, nor any other way to do it.

Exchange 2010. Trying to publish Outlook Anywhere. Weird config

$

I currently have Outlook 2010 with OWA published behind TMG firewall. I want to not change any config on OWA (it is forms based authentication). I do not have another IP so I am not sure I can use another listener. I dont want to buy another cert. Want to use the OWA cert for Outlook Anywhere. Do not want to use Autodiscover (in fact I need internal clients to NEVER EVER EVER EVER find Outlook Anywhere). I want it to be on a need to know basis and only work if explciit settings are manually entered on the client. I do need to to work on external non domain joined computers (in fact that is the only place I want to use Outlook Anywhere). I did something in Powershell that basically removed Outlook Anywhere's config so thankfully my internal clients do not find it.

So what folders would I need to publish in TMG to make Outlook anywhere work (without autodiscover)?

Any suggestions?

OWA for iOS & Android

Our company is using Office 365 Outlook.  Currently I am using OWA on my iPad mini to access my email box outside office and it works very well.  I downloaded the OWA for Android on my Samsung Note 2 and tried to use it on the go.  It does not connect to my account and keep on saying incorrect username and password.  Of course not.  The OWA for Android is working well with my personal accounts in outlook.com and gmail.  I assume OWA for iOS and Android are identical except working on different platforms.  Per my experience, they are not.  Can someone tell me if they are different in features or some special settings I overlooked.  Thanks!
