Today I got the problem with OWA in Exchange 2013. Whenever the user logon to the OWA, OWA will request user to select the timezone. After that, there is error message. User can not continue. The error message is that

Microsoft Outlook 2010 & 2013 cannot set automatic reply settings

$

Hello,

We cannot seem to set automatic reply's within outlook 2010 & 2013.  We have an exchange server 2010.  We can setup automatic reply through OWA absolutely fine.   The error that we receive is 'Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable.  Try again later.

However we can setup out of office on any other office version below 2010 fine.    We have run through a number of tests and have come to the conclusion that the auto discover service is not configured correctly.   I have been told to run through the following

"We need to make sure the IIS service is assigned to the certificate which includes mail.mydomainname.co.uk name:

Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint 62C247B3BD081D0A8B074D4A928A76E6DA3BABBA -Services POP,IMAP,SMTP,IIS

Then restart IIS service to apply the changes.

If the user is connect to mailbox from external environment as your test results, it is recommended to add the autodiscover.mydomain.co.uk name in your certificate with IIS service. If so, the autodiscover service can be accessed successfully in your posted second steps(https:/autodiscover.mydomain.co.uk/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml). Alternatively, if you don’t want to change your certificate configuration, we need to create a new SRV record for mail.mydomainname.co.uk to make your autodiscover succeed in last steps of Srv Record lookup method".

So I followed this and opened Exchange Managemnet Shell and ran the following.....

'Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Thumbprint 62C247B3BD081D0A8B074D4A928A76E6DA3BABBA -Services POP,IMAP,SMTP,IIS'

I opened up 'Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to find 2 Server Certificates issues to 'mail.companyname' with the certificate hash' 62C247B3BD081D0A8B074D4A928A76E6DA3BABBA' and '71ADF367E190E269C1036BBF4A09C55E62536791'.

I opened up the Exchange Management Console to confirm that the IMAP, POP, IIS, and SMTP services are bound to both of the certificates for 'mail.companyname'.co.uk

I need to know if it is okay to proceed in replacing the certificate and running this command.

Duplicate deleted items one read one unread in Outlook 2010, 2013 using Exchange 2010

We have a user who has these devices connected to our MX server;

iPhone

iPad

Desktop Win 7 Pro, Outlook 2010

Laptop Win7 Pro, Outlook 2013

He will open an e-mail look at it, then delete. It then goes into the deleted items folder and duplicates as one read and one unread. We have not been able to figure out why this is happening. We have tried disconnecting all devices and reconnecting them, no joy. Tried recreating the .ost, no joy. Tried recreating user profile, no joy.

At one point we disconnected his laptop because he was getting a new one and it stopped doing it for the most part, still happened but not very often. Then we brought the new laptop online and it returned with a vengence. So we disconnected all devices and reconnected all devices except his desktop. He ran the weekend with no duplicates, Monday when we reconnected the desktop it came back strong.

It seems to be tied to the cached mode and Offline use. I did a complete uninstall/re-install and turned off cached mode for the re-up and had zero duplicates. A few days later I renamed the .ost and started Outlook and it immediately started popping dups on the other machine. I cancelled the build went and turned off the offline files option in outlook and restarted. No dups. I don't want to have this user operating without cached mode due to it being slower and having to wait if he loses the network briefly. Any ideas?

Hello all~

I have a mixed 2007/2010 environment, and I just installed a 2013 mailbox server and a CAS/Hub Transport server.  When I try to access https://cas-server/ecp I get the login page for the Exchange Admin Center, but when I enter my credentials it redirects me to the mailbox server OWA page.

Any thoughts

Exchange 2013 OutlookAnywhere/AutoDiscovery/Outlook2013 client issues outside company network

Hello,

I have a single Exchange 2013 server with some clients outside the company network/domain. I am having problems with a non-domain computer with Windows 8.1 Outlook 2013 (with latest updates installed both client & server).

I have configured Outlook Anywhere & Autodiscovery and it works fine according to the results from ExRCA. Both autodiscovery & outlook anywhere. I have a valid certificate (not a wild cert), specifically for the mail server.  Autodiscover addresses are in the certificate too.

When trying to set up a connection outside network on a non-domain computer, I get past the account settings, all green checkmarks but when it's trying to establish a connection, it waits for a certain period of time and throws this error:

"the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

I really don't understand what the problem might be. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

Body of Accept/Decline messages from resource room mailboxes blank when viewed with Outlook 2010 or 2013.

I stumbled across a funny little problem yesterday after a rash of users calling wanting to know why rooms were declining their meeting requests..

The rooms were declining for perfectly legitimate reasons.. Conflicts or no end date but the accept/decline reply messages the rooms were sending out had no details in the message body when viewed from Outlook 2010 or 2013.

If message preview is enabled in Outlook 2013 you can read a few lines of the body in the inbox view but it's still blank when you open the message.

Reading pane is also blank.

Opening the message from OWA or my phone shows the complete message body.

Very odd. It reminds me of the bug in Exchange 2013 CU2 where meeting invites to external users were sent blank unless they were sent as iCalendar.

Maybe this will resolve itself when I load SP1 in a few weeks.

Any one else seeing this?

We are running 2013 CU 3

Emails forwarded unexpectedly

My wife and I both have exchange accounts on the same domain using Outlook 2013 for email.

Over the weekend I started getting her emails forwarded to me (she still gets them as well).

She doesn't have access to the admin control panel nor has she, as far as I can see, set up any mail forwarding. The emails are coming from all sorts of origins, but interestingly if I send her an email from my exchange address (same domain)  its not forwarded to me. If I send her account an email from my Hotmail account its not forwarded to me.

I have looked at the Outlook setting on her machine and cannot see a divert (but if there was a divert why isn't my mails forwarded back to me?).

Can anyone suggest where I start looking for the reasons behind this - She cannot get into the control panel and doesn't know how to set up a divert anyway. If she has clicked inadvertently on something I cannot find it.

slow online mode "browsing"

Hi there,

Currently my configuration is exchange 2013 CU3 with windows 2012 server (fully patched and up to date)

my issue is with internal network slow outlook clients working with online mode (long delays when going from one message to another)

OWA mail browse is very fast though with no delays what so ever (IE8/9/10/11/Chrome)

I know that Microsoft recommend working with cache mode, but sometimes cache mode is not applicable like Terminal servers environment.

is there any way to improve online mode speeds? (exchange 2010/7 has not delays with outlook internal clients)

any ideas??

Thanks Ahead

"Import contacts" not available?

Hi,

we got a new Exchange 2013-setup running and customers are asking were to find the import contacts function in OWA. We did nothing related to this on the servers, no change in config, nothing. There's an old thread on the forums that tells this function is available for Office365 only, the online help of OWA 2013 doesn't mention this in any way.

See http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/de2424a4-6c34-4bab-88aa-5a36010941c0/how-to-make-import-contacts-available

Could anybody please help me?

OWA & Outlook of Linked Mailbox connected with Domain\UserName but not connected with UPN (Email ID)

$

Hello All,

I am looking for some advise regarding an issue I am experiencing. First, I would explain the environment:

I have 3 forest in my production environment:

1. Forest 1 having all user accounts (let's say it Source Domain i.e. ADSource.Local) with a UPN defined as "mail.com".

2. Forest 2 is hosting exchange services (let's say it Resource Domain i.e. Resource.Local). All the users ADSource.Local have linked mailboxes in the Resource.Local. ; all the users are able to connect their mailboxes through OWA & Outlook using their Email IDs in a format user"at"mail.com & that's working fine. User Logon Name in ADSource.Local and Email IDs in Resource.Local are same and used to access OWA & Outlook but the samaccountname is different that is used to logon the system.

3. Now, I have to migrate the user from ADSource to Forest 3 (let's say it Target Domain i.e. ADTarget.Local).

I created two-way trust b/w the forests used ADMT with PES (Password Export Server) & SID History to migrate Users, Computers and finally linked the mailboxes of these users using commandset-mailbox {MailboxAlias} -LinkedDomainController {targetUserForestDomainControler} -LinkedMasterAccount {NewAccountToLinkTheMailboxTo}  -LinkedCredential:(get-credential {targetCredential}).

After migration, migrated users are able to logon to the ADTarget.Local with all the system permissions and accesses as well except for OWA & Outlook. While I tried to connect OWA withDomain\UserName it allow me to access the mailbox whereas neither Outlook nor OWA not connected with the Email ID user"at"mail.com, that was working fine before the migration. I required to connect OWA & Outlook with the Email ID

Note that, in Exchange OWA authentication is set on Form-based authentication with Domain\Username format.

This issue made me crazy as I don't know what I miss.

Appreciate a solution for this.

Regards,

M. Faisal Sadiq

Outlook 2007 client has former user's name.

I have Windows 2012 servers. One of which has Exchange server 2013. Most of my email clients have Outlook 2007, and some have Outlook 2013. On one of the Outlook 2007 clients, the previous user's name appears above Inbox in left panel. On a spare computer with Outlook 2007, I logged in as the affected user and setup Outlook for her. Her name appeared above the inbox until I closed and restarted Outlook. Then, the same former user's name appeared. On the user's computer, I gave this affected user local admin rights, but the Disable Offline files option was grayed out. The affected user's account name is all that's listed under Email accounts tab. Under Data there is an OST file with the former user's name. Someone told me that my predecessor renamed the former user's AD account for the new (affected) user--rather than creating a new AD account for the user. I've read that Exchange gets information from each user's AD account. Is the next step to delete the affected user's AD account and create a new one for her?  If so, do I leave her Exchange account, her computer's Windows profile, and Outlook profile/setup alone while I'm doing this? It may seem a minor issue, but it's frustrating to this manager. Recipients do receive her emails with her name as the sender though.

Notes field in contacs are blanked after making change in OWA/Mobile Device

$

Hi

We have a strange problem I have not been able to find a solution too, and it seems more like its a bug or not something that happens frequently...

We have a environment running Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010(Office 2010).

1. What happens is when you open up a contact, and enter in a comment in the "Notes" field on the user:
2. We confirm that the change in note field is visible in Outlook list view on contacts
3. We also confirm the changes are present in OWA.

4. Edit your notes field on the selected user and press save.
5. Confirm that the changes are visible in our list view of our contacts in Outlook 2010
6. Open up the actual contact in Outlook and select the Notes field, and our field is now empty?
I have not been able to find any solutions or similar cases online, but I might be searching wrong...
Has anyone seen this issue before? Is there any updates/rollups we need to install to solve this?

Regards
Tore Melberg

PS, I should have included pictures, but my account is not verified, so was not able to do that....

ARR won't let through RPC

Hi I have SBS 2011 (exchange 2010) and recently I installed IIS ARR to act as a web proxy. Everything works like charm except RPC over HTTP. I am getting this when I test via testexchangeconnectivity. it is similar to this thread

Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint with identity: DC.Domain.local:6001.

The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.

                Additional Details

An RPC error was thrown by the RPC Runtime process. Error 1818 CallCancelled

Elapsed Time: 32834 ms.

Since I am not that experienced I cannot benefit from the answer. Can you please help. When I open Web Server and search

• Check the RpcProxy ValidPorts
 1. On the RPC proxy server, start Registry Editor (Regedit).
 2. In the console tree, locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy
 3. In the details pane, right-click the ValidPorts subkey, and then click Modify.
 4. In Edit String, in the Value data box, type the following information
 ExchangeServer :6001-6002; ExchangeServerFQDN :6001-6002; ExchangeServer :6004;  ExchangeServerFQDN :6004

I dont have RpcProxy key. Do I need to create this key or I need to install Exchange server on IIS ARR machine that will route these kind of requests? In general is how to create RPC Proxy machine?

Different Autoconfig being sent to Outlook clients?

$

Hi,

I have a weird issue on a separate site... I have 2 exchange servers on site A

Users on site B connect to site A to get their email.

Out of Office works fine for everyone on Site A. Out of Office on Site B does not work for anyone except for one person. Comparing the Autoexc.xml I can see the difference:

On one machine the autoconfig is requiring SSL and on the others it isn't.

        <Type>EXPR</Type>

        <Server>domain.local</Server>

        <SSL>On</SSL>

and

        <Type>EXPR</Type>

        <Server>domain.local</Server>

        <SSL>Off</SSL>

How can 2 machines get different autoconfigs?

I have checked the IIS on both Exchange servers and the configs match...
