Hi All,

I am facing an issue where using OWA.

Selecting user from the TO (GAL All user), I can see the user name, but the error "The recipient could not be added. It doesn't have an email" return

I had a search at the forum and found someone with the exact same issue.

Was wondering do this issue had been rectified?

Exchange 2013 not returning OAB URL Issue

$

We have implemented our Exch2013 servers 2 server 1 dag w/ 2 databases. We are using split DNS.

We have only moved over 2 users to the 2013 environment and ran into an issue with Address book not updating. Everything else checks out fine.

What I have found so far is the Autodiscover is not returning an OAB URL.

Test-outlookwebservice gives me this with a verbose:

"VERBOSE: [22:01:59.504 GMT] Test-OutlookWebServices : Autodiscover response:Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ServiceValidatorException: The Autodiscover response did not return a URL forOffline Address Book. Response details:"

Get-clientaccessserver shows the autodiscover urls correctly.

Get-offlineaddressbook shows external/internal URls correctly and Webdistriution is enabled.

I have tried removing and rebuilding the autodiscover virtual directory based on some other troubleshooting I have found, but it is still not working.

Any ideas?

Anyone come across this?

Moving a mailbox on Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 - the outlook client wont connect, if you remove the OST and allow outlook to recreate it comes good again.

outlook client knows the mailbox has moved as it connects to the new server

ARR won't let through RPC

Hi I have SBS 2011 (exchange 2010) and recently I installed IIS ARR to act as a web proxy. Everything works like charm except RPC over HTTP. I am getting this when I test via testexchangeconnectivity. it is similar to this thread

Attempting to ping the MAPI Mail Store endpoint with identity: DC.Domain.local:6001.

The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.

                Additional Details

An RPC error was thrown by the RPC Runtime process. Error 1818 CallCancelled

Elapsed Time: 32834 ms.

Since I am not that experienced I cannot benefit from the answer. Can you please help. When I open Web Server and search

• Check the RpcProxy ValidPorts
 1. On the RPC proxy server, start Registry Editor (Regedit).
 2. In the console tree, locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\RpcProxy
 3. In the details pane, right-click the ValidPorts subkey, and then click Modify.
 4. In Edit String, in the Value data box, type the following information
 ExchangeServer :6001-6002; ExchangeServerFQDN :6001-6002; ExchangeServer :6004;  ExchangeServerFQDN :6004

I dont have RpcProxy key. Do I need to create this key or I need to install Exchange server on IIS ARR machine that will route these kind of requests? In general is how to create RPC Proxy machine?

slow online mode "browsing"

Hi there,

Currently my configuration is exchange 2013 CU3 with windows 2012 server (fully patched and up to date)

my issue is with internal network slow outlook clients working with online mode (long delays when going from one message to another)

OWA mail browse is very fast though with no delays what so ever (IE8/9/10/11/Chrome)

I know that Microsoft recommend working with cache mode, but sometimes cache mode is not applicable like Terminal servers environment.

is there any way to improve online mode speeds? (exchange 2010/7 has not delays with outlook internal clients)

any ideas??

Thanks Ahead

Rules being lost in SBS 2011 (?) and Outlook 2013

$

Hi, Got  a query on this. I have quite a few rules set up on Outlook 2013  using our exchange system. Usually they work fine. Recently though some of them keep disappearing which is annoying. Some are local machine based and some are server based.

One particular rule does the following. A monitor sends me an email saying a system is down, when it arrives in my inbox a rule forwards a copy to two colleagues. For months this has worked fine, then all of a sudden it has stopped.

Two things happen, one is that this rule ( and similar ones) disappears from my rules list, it's hard to say when as you don't really notice when something stops working, you just wonder ones day why your colleagues are not dealing with things that go wrong whilst you are out of the office.

The other thing I've noticed is that some rules sometimes (this redirect on receipt) get the check box for it turned off, also the rule is then in RED text. I do sometimes note an error/warning message about this rule too, but its been a while so I can't remember exactly what this is.

Does anyone know why rules get turned off /deleted / set to RED text?

I've gone through some investigation and found that sometimes you can have too many rules and it is possible to amend settings so that ther is more space but I'm still looking for instruction on this (it's vague though I have done this before a loooong time ago)

I know default space is 64kb and you can up it to 256kb, but I lack instructions for this, other causes apart from too many rules have been recorded as having rules with long names, but how long is long?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, McP

Email Sender's display name not displaying/resolving on internal emails with POP/IMAP clients

$

Here's the scenario. I have two 2013 test accounts setup in Outlook as POP/SMTP accounts. I have their name setup as initials in the outlook account (the "Your Name" field).  If I send an email (Through SMTP) to a 2013 Exchange(Outlook Anywhere) client, their names resolve to their actual Display Name in the GAL which is correct.  Now if I send an email to another 2013 POP/IMAP user, their name shows what is setup in Outlook which is their initials which is not correct.

Now we are currently in the process of a 2007 to 2013 migration.  I do not see this behavior on the Exchange 2007 side with POP/IMAP clients.  If I run the same test setup with a 2007 mailbox as the recipient, the sender's name resolves to their GAL display name and NOT the name configured in the Outlook Account settings.  It doesn't matter whether the sender is a 2007 or 2013 account.  As long as the recipient is on 2007 it works fine.

This is all tested using authenticated SMTP.  The only difference I can tell is that the 2007 servers resolve the name before delivering it to the inbox where the 2013 servers don't.

There aren't any GAL or Address Book related issues on the 2013 side.  Full exchange clients or OWA work correctly.

Notes field in contacs are blanked after making change in OWA/Mobile Device

Hi

We have a strange problem I have not been able to find a solution too, and it seems more like its a bug or not something that happens frequently...

We have a environment running Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2010(Office 2010).

1. What happens is when you open up a contact, and enter in a comment in the "Notes" field on the user:
2. We confirm that the change in note field is visible in Outlook list view on contacts
3. We also confirm the changes are present in OWA.

4. Edit your notes field on the selected user and press save.
5. Confirm that the changes are visible in our list view of our contacts in Outlook 2010
6. Open up the actual contact in Outlook and select the Notes field, and our field is now empty?
I have not been able to find any solutions or similar cases online, but I might be searching wrong...
Has anyone seen this issue before? Is there any updates/rollups we need to install to solve this?

Regards
Tore Melberg

PS, I should have included pictures, but my account is not verified, so was not able to do that....

Outlook 2013 Deliver Messages to primary inbox

$

Hello,

I recently upgraded my customers server from SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 to Server 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013. The office manager has full access to one of the users mailboxes and has in the past had added the mailbox and the changed where the mail was delivered. (ie. to her inbox). This way she didnt have to look in 2 different places. Well in Outlook 2013 there is no way to change where the mail is delivered to? This is a huge inconvenience to the office manager as she has missed several emails now because she has to look in 2 different places. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

John

Managing an Organizational Calendar in Outlook for Exchange 365

$

Dear Friends,

One of our assistants manages the calendar for our entire organization, which she would like to share with the remainder of the organization. She currently manages the organization's events on her default calendar, associated with her domain account. Hence, when I access our organization's calendar, instead of seeing the organization's name (i.e. Walmart, etc.) at the top, it reads Sally Fields, the name of our assistant. We would like the organizational calendar, when shared, to read the organization's name, instead.

However, many of our events are generated within another program (EMS), which will only export data to the default calendar (which it refers to as a personal calendar).

So, that leaves me with several questions:

1. Can I change the share name of the default calendar within Outlook?

2. If not, can I designate another calendar, with a different share name, as the default calendar?

3. If not, can I set up another calendar, with a different share name, that will automatically grab events from the default calendar as it changes?

4. May someone have a different idea for accomplishing this goal?

Many thanks for any ideas on how to facilitate this.

Outlook Disconnects Frequently onTerminal Server

Good Day!

We have been having an issue for the last 3 months where Outlook Disconnects from Exchange often and is affecting users' work.  I have not been able to resolve this issue.  You will see in the image below, there are 2 back to back in the times and one is the disconnect and one is the reconnect.

A little background of our setup

- Clustered Hyper-V Servers located at a Datacenter with plenty of RAM and Network Connectivity

- Roughly 10 Users connect to Terminal Server 2008 R2 which is a Virtual Machine on the cluster

- Exchange is a Virtual Machine on the cluster

- Exchange CAS is another Virtual Machine on the cluster

- Outlook 2013 STD Volume License is on the TS

auth.owa on Exchange 2013

All,

i'm having a lot of issues with auth.owa

with serveral customers.

at first is was only when trying to logon to the ecp. so it wasn't critical.

however now users are also experiencing issues.

it started after adding an addidtional 2013 multirole.

i've seen in forums that on 2010 you have to restart or start the FBA service. however Exchange 2013 doesn't have this service.

for me it does indicate that it has something to do with forms based auth.. can anyone please give me a direction i should look in to?

thank you in advance!!

OWA 2013sp1 - Bing Map App link for Australian addresses is missing

$

Hi All,

Not sure if this is really an issue or just my misunderstanding, but I'm noticing that the "Bing App" feature only works when an email message has a US-localized address such as the "Empire state building" but if the email body contains an Australian address such as the one below which is for the 'Eureka Towers" the "Bing Map App" link does not appear.

7 Riverside Quay, Southbank VIC 3006

Is this Feature not yet usable for other than US-localized Addresses ?

Environment configured as  below

2012r2 Domain/Forest Functional level
2013sp1 on Windows 2012 (Member server)

Regional settings = English/Australia
Location = Australia

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

"Something went wrong" screen after OWA login

$

I have multiple Exchange 2013/Windows 2012 DAGs that sit behind 2 CAS servers in a Windows NLB. My production DAG is fine, but my pre-release DAG is now getting this error, so I imagine something on the 2 DAG member servers is causing it.  I think something changed in IIS by accident by one of my admins, but I've been unable to find out who or what it was.  Troubleshooting is hitting a wall too.

The ECP and OWA to mailboxes on my other DAG work fine.  I have legacy redirection enabled to my Exchange 2007 environment too, and when somebody logs into OWA via my 2013 CAS servers, that redirects them fine as well.  EAS, RCP over HTTPS, and autodiscover all appear fine to the problem DAG. Testing email autoconfiguration works fine to my problem DAG as well, so it appears to be OWA related.

The symptoms:

  • After logging into OWA on mailboxes in the effected DAG, a "something went wrong" screen appears.

An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled.

X-OWA-Error: System.NullReferenceException
X-OWA-Version: 15.0.775.32
X-FEServer: {My 2013 CAS}
X-BEServer: {Mailbox server hosting that DB}
Date: 7/9/2014 6:36:37 PM
  • No information appears in the windows logs.  Searching the HTTPERR logs also showed nothing.  W3SVC logs show the following events.  Are these 302 errors?

CAS Server -

2014-07-09 18:11:20 10.128.13.38 POST /owa/auth.owa &cafeReqId=2d57ab13-496b-4ab3-b6c8-ecbd8061357c; 443 domain\username 172.30.108.17 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+rv:30.0)+Gecko/20100101+Firefox/30.0 https://mail.domain.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fmail.domain.com%2fowa%2f 302 0 0 0

Mailbox Server -

2014-07-09 18:11:22 10.128.13.76 GET /owa/default.aspx &ActID=10154033-ee4d-42bc-be5b-8efc0055c54f&ex=E404 444 domain\user 10.128.13.68 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+WOW64;+rv:30.0)+Gecko/20100101+Firefox/30.0 https://mail.domain.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fmail.domain.com%2fowa%2f 302 0 0 79

  • It appears that while the ECP is working fine, it has problems getting information from the DAG. For instance, on the database tab in servers management, the "active on server" doesn't change even when failing the database back and forth.

All cluster resources are up. All agents appear fine.  The OWA app pool is started and appears the same as the OWA app pool on my working DAG.

I've already tried the killbit fix.  There was no killbit on my CAS servers, but one existed on the DAG mailbox servers.  I deleted them out of one DAG member, failed everything over to there, and tried OWA.  It still didn't work.

Thanks in advance. Let me know if you need any more info.
