OWA Sign Out doesn't work

$
0
0

I'm testing Exchange 2013 and running into the issue. On the OWA page, when I click on Sign out, OWA doesn't sign out.. It gives me "Sign Out" window with statement: "You must close all browser windows to sign out completely". Same behavior on local server, on remote server.. /OWA /ECP site.. Admin user, non admin user..

Forms authentication is disabled, basic and windows are enabled.

If I manually add /owa/logoff.owa it logs me off..

Any ideas?

Outlook Mac Loses Connection to Exchange Server

Hi All,

I've had this problem pretty since deployment a couple of weeks ago, so I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction.  I'm running Exchange 2013 on a Server 2012 Standard box with the DC running on a different box, every thing up to date.

Mac clients running Outlook 2011 (14.4.2).

Periodically throughout the day, Outlook loses connection to Exchange server.  After several minutes, it will connect back up, and seems to operate normally.  During the down time, I am able to connect to OWA, and ActiveSync seems to work as well.

If I run the Remote Connectivity Analyzer while Outlook is responding, I get no errors and the "Connectivity Test Successful" message.  However, if I run it while Outlook is NOT responding, I get the following:

Exchange Web Services synchronization, notification, availability, and Automatic Replies.
Not all tests of Exchange Web Services tasks completed.
Creating a temporary folder to perform synchronization tests.

Nothing I've attempted to do so far as had any meaningful impact, and I am fairly new to Exchange.

Following the adice I've seen online so far, I've:
I've made sure the auto discover in DNS points to the Exchange server.
I've disable auto-discover on the client, manually adding accounts, tried using their FQDN, local IP, LAN IP.
I've made exceptions to the proxie on the client.

Just not sure where to look next?  Appreciate any advice out there.

Thanks,

Michael

Exchange Server 2013 / Outlook 2010 Auto-Complete address problems

Hi

We run an Exchange 2013 environment where end users use Outlook 2010.

For some reason several users (at least 5 so far, maybe more that haven't noticed yet) are complaining that they are now unable to add any additional address to the Auto-Complete cache.  This can be resolved manually by emptying the cache from within Outlook then disabling and re-enabling auto-complete but obviously they then have a blank slate.

My question is - is there anything that can cause this type of problem collectively?  I have seen it previously, but occurrences have always been isolated to an individual user.

Thanks in advance

OWA Blank Attachment Preview with Office Web Apps Server

Environment:  Exchange 2013 CU3 / Office Web Apps Server 2013
OS:  Windows Server 2012 R2

After implementing Office Web Apps server per the Integration with Exchange 2013 instructions, attachment previews in OWA show up as blank windows.  The pop up says Opening your mailbox, then goes blank.  I have the WAC endpoint configured in Exchange, I can access the discovery URL from the Exchange servers, and I am seeing event 142.  Some forums say that these events should be in the CAS application logs.  I am seeing mine in the Mailbox server app logs.  Has anyone seen a similar issue. I have also attempted to view the ULS logs on the Office Web Apps server, but I don't see anything that looks like a rendering request.  But, I also don't know what that request would look like.  The Exchange and Office Web Apps server are in the same network with no firewall in between them The local firewalls have also been turned off, so any type of blockage should not be the issue.

Hi, I need help with ARR setup. I've followed http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx to configure ARR (Option 1). My setup:

Windows Server 2012 R2 + Exchange 2013 SP1 CAS+MBX (ex1)

Windows Server 2012 R2 + Exchange 2013 SP1 CAS+MBX (ex2)

Windows Server 2012 R2 + ARR 3.0 (arr)

I can't Authenticate to OWA - I'm able to see starting page of OWA, but after entering username and password I get an errorX-FEServer: EX1, URL look like owa/auth/errorFE.aspx?httpCode=500. When I entering to ECP I get an "Server Error in '/ecp' Application.". Everything works fine when I am logging in directly to OWA onExchange servers (https://ex1.intdomain.com/owa).In ARR logs no errors.

I am out of ideas what can be wrong. Please help me!

Troubleshoot connectivity issues Outlook Anywhere Exchange 2013

$

Hi there,

As part of our Exchange 2010 -> 2013 migration we've transitioned CAS to Exchange 2013 2 weeks ago. Some 50 mailboxes have been moved to exchange 2013. Moving mailboxes for everyone is scheduled the 2nd week of july . Because our current version of Outlook is 2007 (migration to 2013 is due thissummer) we've configured NTLM authentication for OA.

Exchange setup: 8 Multirole (CAS/MBX) virtual (VMware) Servers: each 4 cores, 24 Gb memory (reserved) : Windows 2012 SP1, Exchange 2013 SP1 (15.0.847.4030)

Right now we're facing client connectivity issue's: Outlook Anywhere clients are continiously losing connection with exchange, some people (outllook 2007/exc. 2007) report every minute or worse.... Moving the mailboxes of affected people results in less problems: Sometimes no disconnects for 10 to 30 minutes, then reconnects every minute for some time.

We've already set the timeout for the oa-pool in our network proxy (riverbed steelapp) to 20 minutes and the minimum keep alive on the 2013 servers to 120 seconds which improved Oultook 2013 clients; before I experienced reconnects every minute, after every 10 to 30 minutes (with periods of reconnects every minute)

testconnectivity.microsoft.com gives positive results (apart from a nspi warning about server side encryption)

testing with rpcping according to http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/06/20/3405633.aspx gives some interesting results:

I've tested all (8) CAS 2013 servers over ports 6001, 6002 and 6003; each 100 rpcpings with a for loop: every response was either about 500 ms or about 21 Seconds ?!?

How can we furher troubleshoot the reason of the long reply time. Eventlogs (and SCOM with exchange 2013 MP) show no relevant events or alerts.

Apparently a user has unread E-Mails but when you go to look there are none.

Hi there,

When I look on the customers outlook 2013 it says that they have 3 unread e-mails. I then go to check unread emails and there are none there. I have re-built her ost and am still experiencing the same problem. I have checked OWA and it is also saying she has 3 unread emails in her mailbox. I have also tried selecting all emails and using the ctrl + q shortcut to read them all and that has also not done it. I have tried to clear offline items and that also did not do it. I think it might be something to do with the server since both her Computer and OWA are saying that she has these 3 unread emails. Ran out of ideas so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Lennie

404 can't find page Error when logging into Exchange 2013 OWA, after a refresh, login works

Hi,

I've upgrade two of my customers to Exchange 2013.

On of them was coming from 2007, and the other was already running 2010.

Migration from both of the servers went good.

However with the customer which upgraded from 2010 to 2013 i'm experiencing strange OWA behavior:

When I login to OWA on https://owa.contoso.com/owa, and input my credentials and click sign in: I receive this error:

404
can't find page :-(

The page you're looking for couldn't be found on the server.

X-FEServer: JVBMAIL01
Date: 11-6-2014 11:54:48

Fewer details..
-> Refresh the page

In the addressbar, the following URL is displayed: https://owa.contoso.com/owa/auth/errorFE.aspx?httpCode=404

But... when I click: "Refresh the page" of just hit F5, the login proceeds, and my OWA is displayed and working fine.

This behavior only happens with my customer which was upgraded from 2010 to 2013.
The customer which i've upgraded from 2007 to 2013 doesn't experience this problem.

I've matched the IIS settings and redirect/ssl options on both servers. They are the same.

I've tried other users and i've experienced that on one user, the error message didn't appear.

When I try to delete the Exchange atributes from the user, (after exporting the mail to a PST file) and re-add the Exchange attributes, the message is gone. This isn't a solotuion however, since i've got 166 users, and about 150 of them, get the error message. New users don't get the error.

Anybody got any clues?

Outlook 2010/2013 clients still trying to make a connection to the old server after it has been retired.

Around the beginning of the year, we started the migration from an On-Site Exchange 2010 server to Office 365.

The on-site server had an alias of mail.domain.com, an SSL certificate was purchased that covered ServerName.Domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com, and mail.domain.com.

Halfway through the migration I changed autodiscover.domain.com to point to autodiscover.outlook.com both externally and internally on GoDaddy and our MS DNS Servers.  Earlier this month, the migration was completed and I turned down and retired the on-prem server.  Since users were comfortable with and knew the "mail.domain.com" url, I setup our web server to automatically redirect to the Office 365 webmail servers (http://mail.office365.com).

Now users are receiving a Security Alert periodically and when they start Outlook that the SSL certificate is incorrect for mail.domain.com (below). As far as I know, nothing should be configured to use the old mail server, a capture of the Outlook Connection Status is below as well.

Autodiscover.outlook.com port 443 not accepting connections. Autodiscover failing for Office 2010 clients!

Office 365 Exchange, as of last week multiple Office 2010 clients having connectivity issues with their email.  Running RCA test confirms that https://autodiscover.outlook.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml is not responding.

Further tests confirm port 443 is not open!    CNAME records configured appropriately... autodiscover.mydomain.com is a CNAME for autodiscover.outlook.com

Can't setup new mail profiles for users because Autodiscover fails!

What's up???

Issue: Cannot Connect to Exchange 2013 with Outlook 2013 (after attempted Update 5 install) on a VM

$

Hello,

I am stuck in a weird situation.

Details:

  • Server 2012 (all updates) running as a VM Host
  • Exchange 2013 running on a VM
  • Clients Windows 8.1, Phone 8.0, IMAP, POP3 etc
  • Clients: Outlook, Phone and Store Mail App

Issue:

  • I decided to install Update 5
  • I took a snapshot of the Exchange VM
  • I tried to install Update 5, there was no massive error or issue, it merely mentioned that I didn't have some "cluster" something err other installed, and I needed to do that before I could continue. I exited.
  • From the moment I exited NONE of my clients can connect to Exchange from Outlook (standard connection).
  • What I mean by that is, I have not specifically said use HTTP for this or for that. Just whatever the default is

  • However, if I specifically go in and say "use http proxy bla bla" and then I set the value to my mail.xxx.com it actually connects and works..
  • Problem #1: doing this is bad.. I don't want this, but the actual real issue is, once I restart Outlook Client it seems to "reset" and then is broken again

So what I attempted to do:

  1. I tried to reboot the exchange server but no help
  2. I tried to reboot the VMHost server etc and no help
  3. I reset the Exchange Server to the VM SnapShot and still no good :-(

The benefit is I can still access through HTTP and my Mail Client and Phone since they use HTTP, however... standard Outlook clients don't work.

I have no idea why this would break merely because I started the Update 5 and it did a prereq check

I looked in the event logs.. but nothing that I can see at all :"-(

Any suggestions please

Cannot Open Additional Mailbox

I'm having an issue with quite a few shared mailboxes that seem to be sporadic issue. I have about 15 mailboxes that have full access permissions to a group. I'm able to open a few but some come back with "Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available.etc" I can create a mail profile for each of the mailboxes and get in just fine. I remove one additional mailbox and all of sudden I can get into one I wasn't able to get into before but when I close and reopen outlook then I can't get back in it. The issue is very sporadic I've checked autodiscovery all is correct there. I can't seem to find anything in the logs on the exchange servers. If I look at the connection status in outlook you can't see the guid of the mailbox that you get from autodiscover. Any thoughts on how I can go about troubleshooting this?

Configuring Kerberos Authentication for Load-Balanced Client Access Servers under Exchange 2013

$

Under Exchange 2010 were several documents and articles giving guidance for Setting up Kerberos for your load balanced CAS-Array. However there is not much in the way of guidance when it comes to Exchange 2013.

I believe that http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff808312.aspxand http://blogs.technet.com/b/kpapadak/archive/2011/03/13/setting-up-kerberos-with-a-client-access-server-array.aspx would still be valid.

However I did come across an article http://unifiees.blogspot.com/2012/11/tutoriel-exchange-2013-configurer.html which you have to translate from French.  He talks about reconfiguring the user authentication for Outlook Anywhere.  Which we did not have to do under Exchange 2010.

Example:

Get-OutlookAnywhere Server-SV-E15-2 -ADPropertiesOnly | Set-OutlookAnywhere -InternalClientAuthenticationMethod Negotiate-IISAuthenticationMethodsNegotiate, Ntlm

I would like to see guidance for 2013 if possible to see if there are any other little areas with the changes in Client Access that the community does not know about yet.

Exchange 2013, multiple IIS OWA sites with different authentication

$
0

Hi

I have an exchange 2013 server with Client Access and Mailbox server installed. The server has an second ip address which I have bound an additional IIS site to. The additional IIS site is named ExchangeExternalFBA.

The default web site is configured for basic and windows authentication with:
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -identity "ecp (default web site)" -FormsAuthentication:$false
Set-owavirtualdirectory -identity "owa (Default Web Site)" -FormsAuthentication:$false -WindowsAuthentication:$true -BasicAuthentication:$true

Then a new ECP and OWA are configured with:
New-ecpVirtualDirectory -WebSiteName "ExchangeExternalFBA"
New-OwaVirtualDirectory -WebSiteName "ExchangeExternalFBA"
Set-owavirtualdirectory -identity "owa (ExchangeExternalFBA)" -LogonFormat FullDomain -FormsAuthentication:$true -WindowsAuthentication:$false -BasicAuthentication:$true
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -identity "ecp (ExchangeExternalFBA)" -FormsAuthentication:$true

Then I perform an iisreset.

My problem is that then when I try to access the ECP or OWA on the default website, it loads forms authentication! The ECP or OWA on the ExchangeExternalFBA web site works correctly and also loads forms authentication.

If I run...
get-owavirtualdirectory "owa (ExchangeExternalFBA)"

then it returns:

InternalAuthenticationMethods                       : {Basic, Ntlm,
                                                      WindowsIntegrated}
BasicAuthentication                                 : True
WindowsAuthentication                               : True
DigestAuthentication                                : False
FormsAuthentication                                 : False
LiveIdAuthentication                                : False
AdfsAuthentication                                  : False
OAuthAuthentication                                 : False

If I then run

Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -identity "ecp (default web site)" -FormsAuthentication:$false
Set-owavirtualdirectory -identity "owa (Default Web Site)" -FormsAuthentication:$false -WindowsAuthentication:$true -BasicAuthentication:$true

and perform another iisreset then when I try to access the ECP or OWA on the default website it loads correctly. But then the forms based authentication on the ExchangeExternalFBA website can no longer log in, it does not accept the user name and password. If I then disable and enable FBA on the ExchangeExternalFBA website then it works but forms based authentication takes over the default web site again!

Whether I perform the above from the gui or from powershell it does not make a difference, the same behaviour is observed. Changing the logontype on the FBA does not make a difference.

This has been tested on exchange 2013 cu1 and cu2.

Similar(if not identical until they get sidetracked) issue reported in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/9fcd360f-6658-4940-add7-2f13265cf86b/multiple-owa-sites-on-a-single-server-2012-with-exchange-2013-mailbox-cas.

This worked fine in outlook 2007 and 2010, why now do my virtual directories break each other?

I can reproduce the issue on a test exchange 2013 I built in dev.

Is this a bug or are you no longer meant to host different forms of authentication on a single cas?

I'm mostly interested to see if this works for other people and why it no longer seems to work in 2013, so please no questions; 'why do you want 2 different forms of authentication'.

Much appreciated, Thanks!

I cannot delete message in owa, error "mailbox you're trying to access is not currently available"

I have an exchange 2010 SP3 with the last cumulative update.

I've an error that is explained in lots of messages of this forum: I cannot delete messages in owa.

The error is exactly "mailbox you're trying to access isn't currently available". There are no event viewer warnings or errors related. Windows Server 2008 R2 has service pack 1 installed, then has the patch of IPv6 with EWS.

I've tried lots of ideas of the forum but doesn't work

Any idea?
