Force Outlook to download Cached Mode data at full line speed

$

I have a number of users on Office 365 with large mailboxes (10GB+) and whenever I need to recreate the cache (cache or profile corruption, OS reinstallation), Outlook rebuilds the offline cache but at speeds consistently around 1Mbps - internet connection is 4Mbps. Is this throttling on the Office 365 server side, or is this client side? Can anything be done to force a faster initial population of the cache to reduce the time to get up and running?

Thanks

Patrick

"Advance search" opens up in new window... I don't want that.

Hi!

I have outlook 2013 on a windows server 2012 R2. My problem is while i preview emails, and klick "search for related emails" it opens up in a new window. (see picture1 and picture3)

But i want it to open in the same window as in outlook 2010. (picture2)

I'm pretty sure that this should be possible since my colleague get the search in same window. He runs Microsoft Office 2013 on his local desktop.

Full OWA not loading script after updating to Windows 8.1

$

I initially posted my concern in the Microsoft Community forum but was directed to bring up my question here.

Background: I use the Outlook Web App (OWA) for work on a laptop I just bought a few months ago. When I bought the laptop, it was installed with Windows 8 and I had to adjust the compatibility view settings. As I'm sure you're aware, there was a recent Windows 8.1 update so I took the opportunity to install that update. I am using IE 11 and I'm not sure what Version of Microsoft Exchange Server I'm using (I think it's 2010) .

Problem: I'm not sure it's caused by the Windows 8.1 update but, now, when I try to use the full version of OWA the message I receive is that the script is taking too long to load. I can login and the interface loads but I cannot use any of the functions such as creating and sending a new email, or even cycling through the messages in my inbox. I can, however, do this in the light version of OWA but when I create emails there's not formatting options (i.e.italics, bold, indenting, etc.) to work with.

Is there a fix I can do on my own? Thank you.

(Exchange 2013) Outlook unable to connect via Outlook Anywhere

Hi guys, been stuck with this for two days now...

I have a Windows Server 2012 installation with Exchange 2013. The local server is called

cts-uk-mail2012.cts-exchange.local

and I have multiple domains registered on it as we will lease out the mailboxes.

I've got a test domain pointed to it and configured, I've also registered a valid SSL certificate to the domain, mail.adlib-uk.com. OWA works perfectly from anywhere, no certificate warnings, all perfect, but no matter what I do I cannot get Outlook 2010 to connect to the server. I've enabled and changed anything valid to the mail.adlib-uk.com domain within the ecp and I configure outlook to connect via http with the relevant settings, but it tries to log me in and then it says outlook cannot connect to the server or outlook cannot log me in.

running a RPC over HTTP test on testexchangeconnectivity.com works perfectly... Any ideas on how to get outlook working? I'm under severe pressure to have this finished by tomorrow!!

Thanks,

Oli

Move Mailbox from Exchange 2007 to 2013 creates additional Contacts and Junk E-mail folders in Outlook Clients

I have moved a handful of mailboxes from my Exchange 2007 server to my new Exchange 2013 server.  When the users logon to Outlook, usually Outlook 2007 Pro, they have a new default Contacts folder and Junk Email folder that are empty.  I have to copy all the user's contacts into the new default folder and delete the old one.  Not sure why this is happening.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Out of Office on OWA; Exchange 2010

We recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and were having issues with out of office.

OOF works fine in outlook but when you try and run it from OWA we get internal server error 500.  The OOF URL was pointing to the internal machine and we changed this to the outside and I can access it.

I saw something about rebuilding ECP but I don't know what this actually does so I haven't tried it yet.

Any help would be apperciated

Why does Outlook 2010/2013 tries to connect by rpc over http in LAN?

$

Hi All,

I have Exchange 2010 (Two CAS) Published by TMG (Basic Authentication). Also outlook anywhere is configured with Basic Authentication.

Some users have issues with "authentication prompt" (randomly). By the way, Outlook Clients(2007/2010/2013) are fully updated.

What I can see when "authentication prompt" shows up, Outlook tries to connect by rpc over https.

Is this a normal behavior?

Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2013 Password Prompts - Second Opinion Needed

$

Hello,

I could do with a second opinion on a small Exchange 2013/Outlook issue.

Whenever we do a PST Backup on Exchange using Powershell our Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients start prompting for a username and password. They don't accept any password but sort of kick users out of their Outlook clients. OWA still works fine and after the backup has finished the server needs rebooting before clients can get back in. It's a HyperV VM with 16GB RAM and generally works well. Can't find any specific events. Very odd issue. Any suggestions?

I am using Exchange 2013 on Windows 2010 and all my clients are Outlook 2010.

We cannot attach more than 10MB's of attachments. I get the two below errors in Outlook:

I have increased both the send and received connectors in ECP to 100MB and restarted the transport service. No luck. All users are effected by this.

Any ideas?

Outlook Hangs All The Time, Disbabled All Plugins, Works In Safe Mode

I am kind of at my wits end here.

A user has a very large mailbox, over 2 gigs.We have moved from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013 (hosted service, so not the same server.) But first I deleted the user's profile on the Windows 7 machine and recreated thinking his profile may be corrupt, but only after removing the Exchange account from the box, repairing, uninstalling, upgrading from Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2013 and still  the computer get hung up using Outlook. I have gone in an disabled all plugins (except Exchange) and tried, no luck. The only thing that seems to work is running Outlook in safe mode. What else could be causing this to happen?

Thanks

Outlook Mac Loses Connection to Exchange Server

Hi All,

I've had this problem pretty since deployment a couple of weeks ago, so I'm hoping some one can point me in the right direction.  I'm running Exchange 2013 on a Server 2012 Standard box with the DC running on a different box, every thing up to date.

Mac clients running Outlook 2011 (14.4.2).

Periodically throughout the day, Outlook loses connection to Exchange server.  After several minutes, it will connect back up, and seems to operate normally.  During the down time, I am able to connect to OWA, and ActiveSync seems to work as well.

If I run the Remote Connectivity Analyzer while Outlook is responding, I get no errors and the "Connectivity Test Successful" message.  However, if I run it while Outlook is NOT responding, I get the following:

Exchange Web Services synchronization, notification, availability, and Automatic Replies.
Not all tests of Exchange Web Services tasks completed.
Creating a temporary folder to perform synchronization tests.
Failed to create temporary folder for performing tests.

Nothing I've attempted to do so far as had any meaningful impact, and I am fairly new to Exchange.

Following the adice I've seen online so far, I've:
I've made sure the auto discover in DNS points to the Exchange server.
I've disable auto-discover on the client, manually adding accounts, tried using their FQDN, local IP, LAN IP.
I've made exceptions to the proxie on the client.

Just not sure where to look next?  Appreciate any advice out there.

Thanks,

Michael

OWA - Message Mangling in Chrome

$

Hi All

A bit of a strange one that's only cropped up since installing SP1

If I compose an email in OWA in Chrome and use tab to move from the subject line to the main text, when the recipient receives the email there is a"?" before the main text - the recipient can be using a mail client or a browser to view the email.

I have seen the "?" appearing in the Windows 8.1 Mail client and GMail so far (but the same email will not show the "?" in OWA).

All I can guess is that somehow the tab character is getting inserted.  Chrome is up-to-date and it doesn't occur when the message is composed in IE or Firefox.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheers

Andy

Troubleshoot connectivity issues Outlook Anywhere Exchange 2013

$

Hi there,

As part of our Exchange 2010 -> 2013 migration we've transitioned CAS to Exchange 2013 2 weeks ago. Some 50 mailboxes have been moved to exchange 2013. Moving mailboxes for everyone is scheduled the 2nd week of july . Because our current version of Outlook is 2007 (migration to 2013 is due thissummer) we've configured NTLM authentication for OA.

Exchange setup: 8 Multirole (CAS/MBX) virtual (VMware) Servers: each 4 cores, 24 Gb memory (reserved) : Windows 2012 SP1, Exchange 2013 SP1 (15.0.847.4030)

Right now we're facing client connectivity issue's: Outlook Anywhere clients are continiously losing connection with exchange, some people (outllook 2007/exc. 2007) report every minute or worse.... Moving the mailboxes of affected people results in less problems: Sometimes no disconnects for 10 to 30 minutes, then reconnects every minute for some time.

We've already set the timeout for the oa-pool in our network proxy (riverbed steelapp) to 20 minutes and the minimum keep alive on the 2013 servers to 120 seconds which improved Oultook 2013 clients; before I experienced reconnects every minute, after every 10 to 30 minutes (with periods of reconnects every minute)

testconnectivity.microsoft.com gives positive results (apart from a nspi warning about server side encryption)

testing with rpcping according to http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/06/20/3405633.aspx gives some interesting results:

I've tested all (8) CAS 2013 servers over ports 6001, 6002 and 6003; each 100 rpcpings with a for loop: every response was either about 500 ms or about 21 Seconds ?!?

How can we furher troubleshoot the reason of the long reply time. Eventlogs (and SCOM with exchange 2013 MP) show no relevant events or alerts.

Outlook asking for domain\logon name when configuring outlook anywhere

$

HI,

I recently configured outlook anywhere on our exchange organization. I can configure domain-joined and no domain-joined client computer. But when configuring outlook, it asks me for domain\id + password whereas i have already provided the email address and the password.

My email address is like abcd@contoso.prod and my domain logon id is like 1234@contoso.local. So the suffix and the prefix of both are not the same. So even if i add a new upn suffix for my user, the prefix is still a obstacle.

I want also to say that after i provide outlook with the domain\logon id + password, it never asks for credentials again, everything works fine.

My goal is to make the outlook client configuration more easy for my consumers so they just have to provide their email address + password.

Hello,

We're in the process of deploying Hosted Exchange but we're facing a (for us) strange issue.
Our Autodiscovery works on Mac computers, iPhone's, iPad's and Androids but not in our Outlook clients. We've tried several computers on several locations but it just doesn't work.

Our Exchange version is 2013
Outlook clients: 2010 and 2013

I can provide more info if needed. Any help would be highly appreciated.

HTTP 404 while getting https://mail.server.kz/owa/login.aspx

Hello,

I have made new Exchange 2013 SP1 installation with CAS frontend server and mailbox backend server.

I have played with OWA and ECP authentication. I have broken it and have recovered again but now I have a problem with authentication to owa and ecp. When users enter their login/password they redirect to https://mail.server.kz/owa/login.aspx and after it they redirect to https://mail.server.kz/owa/auth/errorFE.aspx?httpCode=404:

https://mail.server.kz/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fmail.server.kz%2fowa%2flogin.aspx

If user enters https://mail.server.kz/owa/ he gets correct page and then everything works fine.

Not sending from "outbox" and not sending when address is new -- default account is POP with a remote Exchange that is NOT available.

Not sending from "outbox" and not sending when address is new -- default account is POP with a remote Exchange that is NOT available.

*
Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit
MS Office/Outlook - 32 bit
*
- POP3 account is default (.pst)
- Exchange account - Remote Exchange - Cached Exchange Mode (.ost)

Send/Receive group settings does not include the Exchange account.

*

When, for whatever reason, I am unable to connect or log in to my remote Exchange account:

1) Messages just stay in the "Outbox."

and/or

2) When I try to send a message to an address that I have never sent to before, the message will not send (just stays on the screen) and I get the following message:

"Microsoft Outlook: The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

So even though I don't need the Exchange account to send out (default is POP account for receiving/sending), it appears to be trying to use the Exchange account/server for a name lookup, fails, and then stops.  This only seems to happen when sending to new addresses I have never sent to before and are not in my Contacts.

Can I set Outlook to not use or look at the Exchange account when sending out when it is unavailable?

* Thanks.
