Exchange Server - How many parallel connections and what is the max response size for single exchange account

$

I have an application that fetches emails received by an exchange account and processes it. When many unprocessed emails are present in the inbox, the app creates multiple thread to process those emails.

Can someone tell me how many connections can be opened in parallel to a single exchange account and what is the maximum response size?

I get errors like connection forcibly closes and bad login or password. I know that the credentials are correct as the errors are not consistent.

Connection to the backend server failed. Error: (0x80072ef1). OWA with Claim through WAP and ADFS

We are seeing this error when connecting to OWA (Exchange 2013 SP1 with Claims Based Auth enabled) through Windows Server 2012 WAP configured for ADFS (v3.) Now I have seen this discussion on WAP (Here) articles and they seem to lay the blame the OWA server, which is why I am posting here.

The user sees this error: "This method or property is not supported after HttpRequest.Form, Files, InputStream, or BinaryRead has been invoked." which goes away after the browser is refreshed. This is an intermittent issue.

WAP reports this error:

Connection to the backend server failed. Error: (0x80072ef1).

OWA gives HTTP 500 error for several users

$

Exchange 2013 SP1. Since last week we have the issue that some users are getting an HTTP 500 Internal Server error when they access OWA from the internet after logging on. For other users it works fine. When the users who are having problems access OWA from internally they can logon fine. OWA authentication is set to Windows Integrated.

For external access OWA is published using TMG. No errors are reported in the eventlog of TMG or the Exchange server. Any idea what might cause this? Is there a way to get some more detailed information about the HTTP error 500?

I've checked the issue with inheritance on the AD user object, but the userobjects have inheritance enabled. Also, since it's Exchange 2013 it doesn't have the Form based authentication service which also might cause this error.

Any idea?

Frank.

Add resources to Outlook calendar item

We use Office 365 for small businesses and have a common problem when creating calendar items and inviting attendees.

Whenever an appointment is created and attendees invited, the attendees themselves cannot add further resources to the appointment. Is there any way to change settings in Exchange or Outlook that will enable invited attendees to add more attendees or resources via the scheduling assistant?

Exchange 2010 SP3, Wildcard Certificate *.domain.ch, is AUTODISCOVER working or not?

$

We are in the process of migrating a customer from 2007 to 2010 SP3. The Wildcard is already integrated in the two KEMP and the CAS Servers and activated for IIS/POP3. The Set-mapi** und set-pop*** are set.

Setup:

2 x KEMP Load Balancers

2 x CAS/HUB 2010

2 x Mailbox DAG

We regulary use SAN-Certificates since 2007. The customer has an existing wildcard certificatefor his DOMAIN.

WAN External: domain.ch (The customer currently makes limited usage of external access ONLY OWA (No Activesync, No RPC-Proxy wanted). IF external we will use a MDM Management solution like Good or others.

LAN Internal: domain.ch

Everything is clear from my side except that we found the information that AUTODISCOVER does not work or limited with Wildcard certificates.

Can anybody state on this and if any problems have arrised with using the WILDCARD Certificate.

We are aware that the usage of the wildcard decreases the secuirty of the whole box.

Thank you

Greetings from Switzerland ;-)

Why we can't save attachments while they are in .msg file format?

We can only preview them?

I tried while previewing save as another file format such as .mhtm, .mhtml, .html but it saved blank file.

Missing RCP Virtual Directory

Hey guys, I have two Exchange 2013 servers setup running both CAS and Mailbox roles.  Two servers are configured in a DAG.

  • RPC-over-HTTP-proxy is installed.

PS C:\Windows\system32> Install-WindowsFeature RPC-over-HTTP-proxy -Verbose
VERBOSE: Installation started...

Success Restart Needed Exit Code      Feature Result
------- -------------- ---------      --------------
True    No             NoChangeNeeded {}
VERBOSE: Installation succeeded.

  • Outlook AnyWhere is enabled.  there are 4 results here as two are previous 2010 servers (coexistence)

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-ClientAccessServer | fl outlookanywhereenabled

OutlookAnywhereEnabled : True

OutlookAnywhereEnabled : True

OutlookAnywhereEnabled : True

OutlookAnywhereEnabled : True

  • All CAS servers return results for Get-OutlookAnywhere VD's (server name removed for security)

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl Identity

Identity : \Rpc (Default Web Site)

Identity : \Rpc (Default Web Site)

Identity : \Rpc (Default Web Site)

Identity : \Rpc (Default Web Site)

My problem is that on ONE of the Exchange 2013 servers, there is no actual virtual directory displayed in IIS???? You can see in the images below, one clearly has and the other doesn't.  This is a problem for me, because I am monitoring /rpc/healthcheck.htm in each directory and obviously for the one server it fails.  As this is new servers and I have no mailboxes migrated over yet from the 2010 environment, I don't know if it is going to be a problem in the future.  I expect it will.

Slow loading of Shared Calendars from O365 in Outlook 2013

$

Hello,

My customer has recently updated their Office suite from 2007 to 2013. Since the update some users that have 3-5 shared calendars in Outlook have been experiencing very slow calendar loads. (During this time the calendar is inaccessible) After 5 minutes or so the calendars load and from that point on they are OK. After a logoff / logon the problem resurfaces again. What should I be investigating to get to the bottom of this?

Many thanks

Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)

Fresh installation of Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012.

Our first test account cannot access their email via Outlook but can access fine through OWA. The following message appears - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)" is displayed.

If I turn off cached Exchange mode, setting the email account to not cache does not resolve the issue and i get a new error message - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file (path\profile name).ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost). Very odd since it creates its own .ost file when you run it for the first time.

I cleared the appdata local Outlook folder and I tested on a new laptop that has never connected to Outlook, same error message on any system.

Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running.

No warning, error or critical messages in the eventlog, it's like the healthiest server alive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't encountered this issue with previous versions of Exchange.

Unable to turn a Send Calendar email into a meeting request using the Meeting button

It seems that in Outlook 2013, you are not able to turn a “Send Calendar” email into a meeting request using the “Meeting” button on the ribbon, although you are still able to drag it from the Inbox onto the Calendar and “Invite Attendees.”  there is patch for 2010, but nothing for 2013.

How can I advertise Server Setting of CAS in OWA behind Load Balancer

$

I'm implament Exchange Server with 2 MB Roles/2 CAS Roles.

CAS Servers are deployed behind Load Balancer. Most of users use OWA, POP and IMAP
(Sorry for that, the customer is in transition phase, not all customer have Outlook Client T T)

OWA, the customer can view their Server Setting via Settings for POP or IMAP access...

I'm try to configure to let user see Server Setting in VIP

(for example, server is CASSERVER01.domain.local and CASSERVER02.domain.local and I want user to see my VIP is smtp.domain.com)

I try to use smtp.domain.com but the server is not allowed. It show

If the AuthMechanism attribute on a Receive connector contains the value ExchangeServer, you must set the FQDN parameter on the Receive connector to one of the following values: the FQDN of the transport server
"CASSERVER01.domain.local", the NetBIOS name of the transport server "CASSERVER01", or $null.

Does it have possibility to do it?

Exchange 2013 Public Folder Accessability Issues

$

After migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 we are experiencing random issues accessing Public Folders.  Issues range from a hung server requests to on-screen errors like this one:

“Cannot expand the folder. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance”

We are using groups to manage permissions, verified that they are mail enabled, and have used the following PS command to re-propagate permissions:

./AddUsersToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder "%folder%" -User "%groupname" -Permissions %permissionlevel"

The odd thing is that if the user bounces between on of their Inbox folders then back to one of the Public folders or restarts Outlook it seems to resolve itself.

Ideas?

Hi All,

We are about to tackle on an Exchange 2013 deployment in our organization. We are currently in a one AD domain environment (about 500 mailboxes) and running Exchange 2007, Mailbox role on 1 server, and client access role on another server but in an isolated vlan.  Moving forward with Exchange 2013 and looking at the infrastructure what are the pros/cons of keeping the same structural with Exchange 2013 Mail box on 1 server, and Client Access 2013 on another server but in a isolated vlan.

Thanks,

Weird emails showing in Outlook 2013 Inbox after Exchange 2013 PST Import

$

Hi there,

I've just done an Import PST from Exchange 2013 using the GUI, and when it is finished, I then open Outlook 2013 I am seeing a few strange emails in the Inbox.

The PST's were from Outlook 2007, and were previously used in with POP mail.

The message is like this:

Subject: Undeliverable: Not read: RE: Re: information

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject:  Not read: RE: Re: information

      Sent:     20/04/2014 11:08 p.m.

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      Big John on 20/04/2014 11:11 p.m.

Diagnostic code = MailRecipientUnknown; Reason code = TransferImpossible; Status code = 511

            < #5.1.1 smtp;550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found>

The date and time of the message is during the import process.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

From a PST of around 8GB, I ended up with about 50 of these type of messages, mostly to the same recipients, but there were some different ones. From a mailbox of about 3GB, I got about 5 of these messages. From the smaller mailboxes I got none.

Thanks in advance,

Steve.

Unread Emails in Outlook 2010 Clients shows both UNREAD AND READ emails when connected to Exchange 2013 Server SP1

We recently upgraded to Exchange 2013 SP1 with a client user-base of Office 2010 Professional Plus / Outlook 2010 SP3.

All Unread Email favorites folders show both Unread and Read emails, just like the inbox. Removal of the folder and recreating yields the same results, as does creating a custom folder. However, in Outlook 2013 there is no problem.

Is there a patch or hot fix for this issue? Or does anyone know how to fix this issue so that the UNREAD EMAILS SHOW UP IN THE UNREAD FOLDER AND NOT INCLUDE THE READ EMAILS?

Thank you!

Hide Folder from Shared Maibox

$

Hi Team,

i hope the way i explain is not too complicated. i'm not that good technical guy.

1. My Company is having some emails missing issue. user misplaced, accidental delete, and follow up email missing.

2. Each user in my company uses at least 3-5 Shared Mailbox. and its set as mailbox in each user outlook profile.

2. therefore to tackle the issue, IT decided to create a folder call back up, create a rule, so that any incoming emails will get duplicated and stored in to the backup folder.

3. The real issue is, all the user had given full mailbox view access and send as access via the exchange server.

4. This had made the back up folder visible. and thus the chances of the folder get access by user is high.

5. is there any way setting or any way to restrict user from accessing the folder.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 OWA internal only

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to restrict Exchange 2013 OWA for internal only, but can't impact Exchange ActiveSync service?

I guess IP Address and Domain Restrictions can make it, but it may impact ActiveSync.

Any good solution?

Thank,

Ian
