Changing Rules Imported from Outlook to OWA

My company switched from basic Outlook in it's own servers, accessed from my PC, to cloud based OWA which I access from my iPad.

I had rules sending mail from my company and some contacts to a subfolder of my Inbox. I can still change this list in Outlook but can't access the list in OWA - can I change the contacts in the Rule on my iPad?

Dear Expert,

My customer has used Outlook 2010/2007 but Password didn't remind when password expired. I have a question below.

1. In OWA will remind the password expire but In outlook didn't remind. How to setup email reminder to all user. For example, remind every 90 days from date expired.

2. When password is expired, it will expire random time. For example, It expired in afternoon, user cannot access email after lunch. How to set time duration, if password will expire in that day.

Thanks in advance

ios 7 notes and exchange 2013

There is an issue that is well described in this post (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5817893?tstart=0) where notes edited on iOS 7 device do not show in Outlook properly (you can see them but they are blank), however they show in OWA just fine (Exchange 2013 SP1 with Outlook 2010 and 2013).

This appears to be a MS issue (since EAS syncs them and info displays in OWA), if so when will MS be fixing the bug?

Test E-mail AutoConfiguration error!

Environment

Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5 with Outlook 2010 clients.

Issue:

One user is having an issue accessing Free\Busy. After briefly looking into the issue it was discovered that the autodiscover was not working via the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration. The specific error is:

Autoconfiguration has started, this may take up to a minute

Autoconfiguration was unable to determine your settings

Once this error was found a thorough investigation of our autodiscover configuration along with our CAS server settings was underway. Everything checks out and everything is working fine for everyone across the org. Its just this one PC.

Have reviewed\tested\or changed the following:

  1. registry keys (lots of info about office 365 and the registry settings that can in some cases disable the clients autodiscover via the 1). We do not use office 365, but I looked into it.
  2. patches
  3. re-created profile
  4. repaired office
  5. confirmed and DNS is correct
  6. disabled IPV6
  7. OWA does work and they CAN view Free\Busy without issue!
  8. new profiles for other employees on their PC fail also. But she can get a new profile on any other PC and it works fine, so we know it is specific to her PC.
  9. can access the autodiscover XML page found https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
  10. disabled cache mode
  11. disabled firewall
  12. enabled debug mode in Outlook
  13. certificate

The other error reads as follows when setting up a new profile for them:

The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Definitely autodiscover related, but locally. Any thoughts or ideas out there for this?

Thanks,

Blind

synchronization office 365 and windows 8.1 mail app fails

Hello all,

I have a Dell XPS duo ultrabook with Windows 8.1 enterprise. The laptop is part of a domain. We use Office 365 for our mail-environment. Office 365 works perfect in a browser, but I want to ad that work-mail account to the mail app in windows. Connecting works fine, but the synchronization fails. I get the following error:

"If you xxxxxx want to synchronize, the settings of this PC should match the security policy of the email-server. Upgrade your Windows-useraccount to an administrator-account".

This is ofcourse not an option, but how do I solve this?

Btw the mail app works fine with a hotmailaccount.

Conference room calendar permissions not functioning for Default account

$

In general, the permissions settings on room mailboxes do not work in our environment.  Exchange 2013 SP1 (migrated from 2007), Outlook 2013 currently patched up to 4/24/13.

What we want and had worked previously: Default can see FreeBusy time/subj/loc, create new items, edit own items, delete own items, folder visible.  I and another admin are "owners" with all rights.  These permissions were set using Outlook, although I've tried using Set-MailboxFolderPermission as well.

What happens: I and the other admin work fine and can do whatever we want.  When we view the calendar properties in Outlook, the permissions are exactly as described above for "Default".  Users can create a meeting and "invite" the room.  The problem is that many of them need to be able to view the calendar and create meetings in it directly.  When they attempt to do so, the options for creating a meeting/event/appointment are all grayed out.  If they view the permissions on the room in question, they are showing that they have Create/FolderVisible/EditOwn/DeleteOwn, yet they can't create or delete.

If I run Get-MailboxFolderPermission against the calendar, I get the following:

FolderName     User        AccessRights ----------     ----        ------------

Calendar       Default     {CreateItems, EditOwnedItems, DeleteOwnedItems, FolderVisible} Calendar       MyAccount   {Owner} Calendar       OtherAdmin  {Owner}

IMO, this is exactly what it should be, although I don't see any reference to the FreeBusy rights and I haven't been able to find anything online regarding that.

So, with the above rights, why can't my users create new meetings in shared conference rooms and what can I do about it?

Emails going into "Junk" folder

$

The default junk folder is called "Junk Email" however this one user has  "Junk" folder above that in which only emails that he receives from linkedin.com go in there. My first thought was that he has a rule sorting linkedin.com emails into that folder but after checking local and server side rules there are none with that criteria that exist.

Next since that's not a default folder, I said let's permanently delete the "Junk" folder and see what happens. Sure enough the next email he received from linkedin.com created a new "Junk" folder and sorted that email in there.

How can this be happening?

The user wants to keep the filtering on the low setting and we have already whitelisted linkedin.com.

  1. I want to know how come there are two junk folders, one called "Junk" and the default "Junk Email" folder. Typically there is only the second one
  2. How this mail is being routed in there because there are no rules that specify any mail to go into that folder.

Maybe there is a hidden rule I am not seeing. Possibly going to try OUTLOOK.EXE  /cleanrules /cleanserverrules after hours and then re-create his existing rules.

Configuring Kerberos Authentication for Load-Balanced Client Access Servers under Exchange 2013

$

Under Exchange 2010 were several documents and articles giving guidance for Setting up Kerberos for your load balanced CAS-Array. However there is not much in the way of guidance when it comes to Exchange 2013.

I believe that http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff808312.aspxand http://blogs.technet.com/b/kpapadak/archive/2011/03/13/setting-up-kerberos-with-a-client-access-server-array.aspx would still be valid.

However I did come across an article http://unifiees.blogspot.com/2012/11/tutoriel-exchange-2013-configurer.html which you have to translate from French.  He talks about reconfiguring the user authentication for Outlook Anywhere.  Which we did not have to do under Exchange 2010.

Example:

Get-OutlookAnywhere Server-SV-E15-2 -ADPropertiesOnly | Set-OutlookAnywhere -InternalClientAuthenticationMethod Negotiate-IISAuthenticationMethodsNegotiate, Ntlm

I would like to see guidance for 2013 if possible to see if there are any other little areas with the changes in Client Access that the community does not know about yet.

Unread Emails in Outlook 2010 Clients shows both UNREAD AND READ emails when connected to Exchange 2013 Server SP1

$

We recently upgraded to Exchange 2013 SP1 with a client user-base of Office 2010 Professional Plus / Outlook 2010 SP3.

All Unread Email favorites folders show both Unread and Read emails, just like the inbox. Removal of the folder and recreating yields the same results, as does creating a custom folder. However, in Outlook 2013 there is no problem.

Is there a patch or hot fix for this issue? Or does anyone know how to fix this issue so that the UNREAD EMAILS SHOW UP IN THE UNREAD FOLDER AND NOT INCLUDE THE READ EMAILS?

Thank you!

Outlook connectivity issues (Exchange 2013, MAPI/HTTP)

$

Hi,

We're having an issue with some Outlook 2013 clients dropping their connection to Exchange 2013 (both SP1). Connections are made using the MAPI/HTTP protocol, via a reverse proxy. When the connection is dropped, the proxy logs simply show that the connection was reset ("connection reset by peer").

There is no obvious cause for this, or related errors on the Exchange server's event logs. What could be causing this?

Funky text wrap on Microsoft Outlook Web App

$

My university's email account is available through Microsoft Outlook Web App, and for the past few days my text has been randomly wrapping at odd points. It may wrap after I have written two words, or it may continue to push through where it typically wraps and begin writing off-screen. I have waited a few days for this issue to resolve itself, but A) it hasn't, and B) it does not appear to be affecting anyone else at my university (to my knowledge). I would appreciate some help so that I can write normal wrap emails.

Thank you!

"Couldn't start this app" error when trying to open Action Items and any other built-in apps

Hi all,

When I try to open the Action Items app within an email in OWA, I get the error seen in the screenshot. In Outlook 2013, the frame comes up with a 404 error.

Third party apps load fine.

This is a new install of Exchange 2013 Enterprise with CU2. Everything else seems to be working fine. I have tried rebooting the server and disabling and re-enabling the apps with no luck. Can't seem to find anything in the Event Log about it.

Any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it?

Exchange 2013 (co-existence 2007) - 2013 mailbox can not connect with Outlook 2010

$

This was working but after some problems with third party pop3 its been broken. Grrrrrrr

OWA internally works fine for my 2013 test mailboxes. It doesn't work externally yet because I have yet to cutover to co-existence. (Still pointing to the 07 CAS externally)

Internally Outlook 2010 is working for 2007 users. But for my three test 2013 mailboxes it is not. Outlook 2010 is patched to the correct level (even tried sp2)

It finds the user name - finds the server but refuses to authenticate. I have checked the outlook anywhere url on the 2013 server and I get the correct urls- internal and external set the same. I have set the service control point for autodiscover on 2013.

Now I haven't yet cut over externally to 2013 - and my internal urls for OWA are still set to webmail. But the legacy name exists and is set internally for all others. Authentication? basic externally NTLM internally

Where do I start looking. .
