Why asking for username and password once entered

$

Hi!

While configuring a new account in Outlook 2010 from Internet it asks for username and password one more time even after entering it once at the beginning of the account setup.

Can anybody provide some details. Can't the automatic setup take the entered credentials once for all?

Exchange 2010 and 2013

Thanks.

Hi there,

i just installed a second mailbox-server in a DAG and a second CAS in our Organisation.

So i have now 2 Exchange 2013 CAS-Servers. Since i installed the second CAS, all Outlook-Clients want to connect to that CAS.

Is there any way to select a preferred CAS or deactivating one CAS without getting Outlook into trouble?

Thanks for your help!

Microsoft Outlook 2010 very slow start up

Hello there,

Whenever I log on to my Computer and open my Outlook - it takes forever to start up, it's always slow on the 'Loading profile' part. Takes about 10 mins sometimes. However this only happens when I first switch on my Computer - if I close down outlook and open it again then it loads fine, however if I were to shut down my computer and open it again - then the slow load up process would happen all over again. We currently use Microsoft exchange for our emails. And my outlook has two profiles but only uses one of them. Should I perhaps delete both profiles and create a new one? I've disabled plugins but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Michael Peters

Shared calendar - greyed out "New appointment"

I've been trying to figure this problem for hours and cant seem to get it working. I have MS Office 2013 installed on server 2008 r2 and 3 users that have been using Outlook 2013 with no problems for months.

Today one of the user cannot create new appointments for a shared calendar using her server user profile, but after hours of testing, we can add her email to other user profiles on the server and different computer systems and they all work with no problem. It seems that the problem is her local user profile on the server. Is there a way to delete all the Outlook info in her profile to restart it to default? Any other ideas?

Outlook 2013 cannot authenticate to exchange 2010

Hi!

I have a client with SBS2011 (Exchange 2010) and a WIN7 Pro WS with Outlook 2013.  A couple of days ago it started asking him for a password but wouldn't accept the correct one.  His password has not changed.  OWA works fine with the same credentials.  I've deleted and recreated his profile. Deleted his OST file.  No luck.  When trying to create a new profile autodiscover does not work.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

freebusy lookups via OWA not working correctly (notes coexistence)

Hi,

We're performing a migration from notes to exchange 2013, and are currently using contacts for the resource mailboxes that are still in notes.

When looking up freebusy information via outlook, all is ok, but when we query the rooms (contacts) via OWA, we get the status unavailable.

It looks like a timeout, since querying the freebusy is being performed correctly (quest coex freebusy server).

If I'm correct there was a timeout that can be configured for crossforest ews lookups in earlier exchange versions.
Is this still the case in Exchange 2013 CU3? And if so, where can I configure it?

Exchange 2013 - OWA Password Expired - Requiring DOMAIN\Username

$

Hello,

We have recently upgraded from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 CU2. When a user's password expires and they login to OWA, the system allows them to change the password. However, Exchange 2013 OWA requires them to use the format 'DOMAIN\username' and it will not except just the username or username@domain.com.  This was not an issue in Exchange 2010.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Thank you

Calendar Share Greyed Out

We have a shared calendar that I need to add a user to. The option to share is greyed out. Exchange Server 2010, Outlook 2010 and 2013 (Same issue for me and another user. I have 2013, they have 2010). My account is set to "Owner" under the calendar Permissions properties.

I've tried it with "outlook.exe /safe" and that didn't do anything. It was suggested in this thread to "Also check full permission given on that mailbox to 'Self'." What does that mean?

What else can I do?

Outlook 2013 Not Responding and Offline Address Book Issues with Office 365

$

Around 3 months ago I setup a small business with Office 365 for email. They have 10 PCs, all running newly installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, eight with Office 2013 and two with Office 2010. All are connected to a local domain (Server Essentials 2012) with a single internet connection through a new TP-LINK router. Each user logs into their own PC only.

The network runs perfectly, internet connection is good but there seems to be RANDOM, INTERMITTENT issues with email not being SENT from Outlook every so often. Email will sit in the outbox for up to an hour sometimes before, eventually, being sent. Incoming email seems ok, although this is more difficult to tell. At others times, email will be sent instantly - the size of the message and any attachments makes no difference.

The issue has happened at some point on every one of the PCs but no particular PC/user seems worse than any other. When email is stuck on one user's PC it can still be sent ok by other users at the same time - so the internet connection is not down. Users can can always login to the OWA service ok and iPhones etc. all sync ok even when email is stuck in the Outbox.

To debug the issue I have worked on one particular user's PC and carried out the following changes -

Changes that made no difference

I have checked the router. A SPI firewall is available on the router but this is switched off.

I have changed the MTU on the router with no effect.

There are no unsual add-ins to Outlook

Outgoing email virus scanning is disabled

Outlook is NOT integrated with Lync

The OST file is around 1.7 GBytes is size.

I have recreated the Outlook profile twice but this made no difference

Switched OFF "Cached Exchange Mode" - this made things worse !

The Outlook address book is set to \Offline Global Address List

I have disabled with Windows firewall on the client PC - no change

I have adjusted the KeepAliveTime for packets in the registry of the PC to 20 minutes

Changes that reduced the frequency of "Not Responding"

I have changed the Outlook automatic Send/Receive time from 30 to 10 minutes - this seemed to help

Possible Related Problem

I have attempted to download the offline address book manually - this hangs at "Copying offline address book template file" in the Send/Receive dialog and there a NO OAB files in the data file location on the PC.

So the only measure that has so far "helped" has been the Outlook Send/Receive time change - now set to 10 minutes. Even so, Outlook will occasionally go "Not Responding" for 30 minutes or more (no windows active - only option is to close and reopen Outlook).

There does seem to be a problem with the Offline Address book. I can download this ok for this user on my home PC (Outlook 2010) but this will not download manually on the work pc with Outlook 2013 (despite following all the debug steps above).

On work PC I can see literally hundreds of "Schannel" errors in the Windows System event logs -

Error - Event 36888 Schannel
The following fatal error was generated :10
The internal error state is 10

These errors occur every 2-4 minutes continually all the time Outlook is running. When Outlook is closed the "Schannel" errors stop !

Can anyone suggest what else to try, please ?

I have already investigated this issue on the Office 365 Community Forum, and the Outlook forum and they suggested that it was a client (i.e Outlook) issue and that I should post here for further information.

Mac Outlook 2011 Not Syncing After User Is Migrated from 2007 to 2013

I have a couple users using Outlook for Mac 2011 (14.4.1) that have trouble automatically syncing their mailboxes after being migrated from our Exchange 2007 environment to our Exchange 2013 environment.  When they kick off a manual sync, it works fine.  Automatic syncing is very hit and miss and can go for hours before syncing.  Identities, accounts, and profiles have been rebuilt without success.  Is there something to look for client side or perhaps server side in EWS settings?  Thanks.

UPN login fails when forced to change password

We are running Exchange 2013 SP1 on Windows 2012.  Our users have no problem logging into OWA with their UPN. But, if I set the users AD attribute "User must change password at next login," the next time the user logs into OWA they are redirected to the change password form of OWA and are forced to login with DOMAIN\username.  They cannot use the UPN that they are used to when logging into OWA.  This confuses 99% of my users.  Can this be changed to allow UPN when the user is forced to change their password?  TIA

Outlook Quick Steps with Categorize function - Exchange server public folders

$

Is it possible to categorize an e-mail with a Quick Step with the right step order?

I mean If want to do the following:

  1. copy to a public folder
  2. make it read
  3. mark it complete
  4. categorize it

It will categorize the e-mail first (like it has a higher priority) and both the actual e-mail and the copied one will be 'flagged' with the category.

Is it possible to modify the quick step that way to do the categorize function after the copy function, so the copied one will not be categorized, only the original one.

All the e-mails are in public folders, so I copy the e-mail from a public folder to another one. All the public folders are on Exchange servers.

Please advise.

Thank you!

Exchange Server setting for Outlook 2013 in Office Customization Tool

Hello,

I'm try to configure Office Customization Tool such that when a domain user logs into any workstation, their outlook profile is automatically configured and the shared department email account is added as the secondary mailbox but it hasn't worked for me. I looked up for the settings on the internet where I found a few server settings but none of them worked for me. We have Office365; I added outlook.office365.com, and the settings that starts with chprod.. that didn't work either. I also sent a test email, and looked up the server settings from messageheaderanalyzer in office365 OWA and added the settings in the OCT, that couldn't pull up the email either. How can I make it to work?

Just to be clear, this is what I want.

When a user logs in to the workstation and starts outlook, it should find the users email and configure it automatically. Then it should also add department mailbox as their secondary mailbox if they have permission.

Thanks

Exchange Server - How many parallel connections and what is the max response size for single exchange account

$

I have an application that fetches emails received by an exchange account and processes it. When many unprocessed emails are present in the inbox, the app creates multiple thread to process those emails.

Can someone tell me how many connections can be opened in parallel to a single exchange account and what is the maximum response size?

I get errors like connection forcibly closes and bad login or password. I know that the credentials are correct as the errors are not consistent.

Firewall Rules for Client Access Servers and Federation Gateway

$

We currently have 2 exchange 2010 client access servers (OWA external access is not configured), along with 2 MB, 2 HT and 2 Edge servers in our DMZ.

I'm setting up a connection to the Microsoft Federation Gateway in order to allow outlook free\busy sharing with a partner company.

According to this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638083(v=exchg.141).aspx#FC it looks like they recommend 443 outbound from both CAS servers to the internet, and 443 inbound to 1 CAS server.

Can we instead use the CAS array VIP, or does it have to be the actual IP's of the CAS servers as above?

What is a TokenMungingException

Hello,

In an apptemt to move Exchange 2013 from Windows 2012 to Exchange 2013 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2, I installed a new server, copied all settings and data over and most things appear to work fine including the web based Exchange Admin Center, however when trying to access OWA I get the following error:

X-OWA-Error: Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.TokenMungingException
X-OWA-Version: 15.0.847.32

Have done a few searches on Google, but can not figure out what this TokenMungingException is and how to fix it. Would anyone here be able to shed some light on it and possibly offer a solution on how to fix this?

recurring calendar meeting issue

A few users are having the same issue with recurring calendar meetings. When opening the message outlook will display "This meeting request was updated after this message was sent. You should open a later update or open the item on the calendar."

These meetings have not been updated or changed. Additionally they are not able to accept the meeting. Any ideas?

mail gets delayed in outbox with Exchange 2013 SP1/Outlook 2010

I am currently in coexistence mode with Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013.  When sending email from Outlook mail is delayed in Outbox for up to 20 seconds when using RPC/HTTP (Outlook 2010/mailbox on Exchange 2013). RPC/TCP works right away (Outlook 2010/mailbox on Exchange 2010).  I do not see any performance issues on Exchange 2013 server.  In addition 2013 OWA works right away, not sure why the delay (sometimes it goes out right away).  I see the delay with mailboxes on Exchange 2010/2013/outside of organization, but again only when connecting over Outlook Anywhere to Exchange 2013.

Emails suddenly went "invisible"

$

Hi everyone,

I have a folder called Personal with several  sub-folders within it. Each of these folders contains hundreds of email since I started my work until now.

Starting this week, I had been experiencing strange problem with these folders, almost all the emails went invisible. The reason I said they went invisible but not deleted because when I did a search for emails (for example from user ABC@domain.com) on OWA, with the Entire Mailbox option checked, the emails appeared and they are in one of my sub-folders under Personal(the name of the folder appears under subject and date in OWA), then I went and checked that sub-folders, these emails are not there.

So I decided to create a new sub-folder under Personal (for example test), repeated the search above, then I moved those emails out to the new sub-folder, now I could see them. I moved one back to the original sub-folder, checked and I could not see it.

I repeated the above process to other sub-folders under Personal folder, same behaviour ( other folders are fine). I believe that the Folder itself is bugged or something similar. I cannot search emails and move them out again because this folder contains almost 2 years worth of emails and I hardly remember all the senders.

I tried on aother computer, problem is still there

What is the best approach in this situation?

Best Regards,

Danny
