Address Book is not updating in Outlook but is fine in webmail after migration from Exchange 2003 to 2007
Lync IM in OWA - stale certificate thumbprint wont go away!
This one has me stumped, I am hoping someone has seen this before. My google and technet searches come up empty and at this point I am extremely frustrated at both the problem and the lack of useful information being logged by Exchange.
Lync IM in OWA has been working perfectly for awhile but our certificate expired and had to be renewed. No problem, the new certificate is in place and the old/expired one is removed.
First thing was first...go into web.config under ClientAccess\Owa and modify the old InstantMessagingCertificateThumbprintparameter from old to new:
<add key="IMCertificateThumbprint" value="NEW ONE!"/>
Run \Appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"MSExchangeOWAAppPool" and I think my work here is done. Oh so wrong....ive been now fighting with the below message in the event log for hours:
The certificate specified by the InstantMessagingCertificateThumbprint parameter of the Outlook Web App virtual directory wasn't found in the local certificate store.
Certificate thumbprint: A43050D554F6874B7A792D1147FC377AB6D0B338
Restarted IIS...no help
Restarted server...no help
Searched for every web.config file on the server, and searched in each one for the above thumbprint...none found
This is the only information Exchange is giving me as to why Lync in OWA is no longer working, and that is the OLD certificate thumbprint that is no longer there. I cannot find any trace of it mentioned anywhere on the server but Exchange just won't let it go. Every time IIS is reset and someone logs in...the above error is generated.
I have triple checked the new certificate thumbnail, and the entry in web.config being correct. The same error above continues.
I am at a total loss now because I have no idea where it is getting that old thumbprint from. I have combed IIS and any config message or log I can think of and I have not found that thumbprint *anywhere* except in the event log after an IIS reset.
Any information would be greatly appreciated, if I had hair to pull out I would be doing so now.
Exchange 2013/2010 Co-existance Outlook Users Always Prompted for Password
Hello,
We are in the process of attempting to migrate to Exchange 2013, but during the migration time, we need to coexist with the two versions. Our outlook clients are a mix of Office 2007, 2010, and 2013. When a user is migrated from 2010 to 2013, they start getting prompted for their password in Outlook every few minutes. They can click cancel and continue working, but they continue to get prompts for their password. If they click the update folder button in outlook, it updates fine, and the password prompt goes away for awhile.
Most topics on this state that this is caused by a certificate issue. We have an internally deployed CA, with the Root certificate trusted by all clients. The exchange 2013 server has a certificate that was created by this CA.
I believe that this is caused by OAB (address book) still being hosted on the Exchange 2010 server (with a self signed cert), that is causing the connection to fail. Is there anyway to test this without breaking outlook connections for the users that are on Exchange 2010? Or is there any other reason that this would occur?
Thanks for any assistance.
Outlook 2013 Issues with Connecting to Gmail Exchange
Outlook 2013 will not connect with Gmail account on cas_array.yourhostedexchange.com server.
Error message below appears each time I try to set up the account:
The action cannot be completed. The connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Occasionally it will set it up, then it reverts to 'Trying to Connect' .... maybe lasts a day working fine at the most.
Have attempted to use Outlook 2010 as never had issue when using this platform previously - also failed. Bigpond email as pop account is working fine.
Suggestions?
Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack Upgrade - Outlook connectivity issue
Hi,
After upgrading to Exchange Server 2013 service pack 1, we are unable to connect via Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. Outlook Web Access is working fine though. We have followed all the instructions, and have applied Outlook upgrades, but the issue remain the same. Outlook was working fine before the upgrade.
Have we missed out something. I would highly appreciate if someone can help out? I'm not sure if this is the known issue as I can't seem to find anything on the internet.
Already applied the transport fix.
Thanks in advance!
Some users get blank OWA page after logon
Hello all,
I have the following strange issue:
Some, but not all of our users have issues opening OWA. After logging in, the web page stays blank.
In IIS on the CAS server, I see a HTTP 500 error. On the MBX server, I see the following error (multiple times) at exact the moment the user logs on:
Event 65, MSExchange OWA
Error message:
"An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. The error message is Access is denied.
. HResult = -2147024891"
The users do not have other issues. Mail syncs perfectly in Outlook (2013) and on mobile devices.
Environment: Exchange 2013 SP1 (2x CAS servers, load balanced, 3x MBX servers in a DAG).
How can I troubleshoot this?

Stephan van der Plas

Delayed received emails Using Outlook 2010 and Exchange Server 2010 SP3
Hi,
Some of our users are encountering delayed emails. When our clients sent email to us, some of our clients received this an hour late, sometimes they will received this the next day.
Our users uses Outlook 2010 and our Exchange Server is 2010. We have already patch this to SP3 as it says that the delayed emails was already fixed in this SP3 but we still encounter the delayed emails.
Thanks.
Collins.
Outlook 2013 users getting "The Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that.....
Hi,
We are on Exchange 2013 SP1 and we are randomly seeing all Outlook 2013 clients getting "the Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change..." forcing them to restart Outlook. Outlook 2010 clients are not affected so seems to be related to Outlook anywhere.
Cant see anything in the event log but seeing some 500 errors in the IIS log.
any ideas on where to look?

OWA gives HTTP 500 error for several users
Exchange 2013 SP1. Since last week we have the issue that some users are getting an HTTP 500 Internal Server error when they access OWA from the internet after logging on. For other users it works fine. When the users who are having problems access OWA from internally they can logon fine. OWA authentication is set to Windows Integrated.
For external access OWA is published using TMG. No errors are reported in the eventlog of TMG or the Exchange server. Any idea what might cause this? Is there a way to get some more detailed information about the HTTP error 500?
I've checked the issue with inheritance on the AD user object, but the userobjects have inheritance enabled. Also, since it's Exchange 2013 it doesn't have the Form based authentication service which also might cause this error.
Any idea?
Frank.
Shared Inbox Rule to Flag Only When Unread Mail or No Category
I'm new to Outlook rules, but have created a rule in a shared Inbox, so that all new emails are flagged. The only issue appears that when i have closed down outlook and a new email comes in, and another user has completed the flag, when I log in the mail is seen as a new email to my outlook and therefore is "Re-flagged" by the rule.
So I was wondering if there is any way to apply an additional condition to the rule, that it will only Flag emails which DON'T have a category selected?
Or is it possible to do it in a slightly different manner, so that it will flag all emails EXCEPT a email which has been "Read" or won't flag an email which has any/specific categories selected?
I have noticed that the there are conditions close to what i would like, like the "Assigned to Category Category", but I don't know how to set it as "No Category Selected" or to say "Don't flag if these are selected" or don't flag emails which have already had their flags completed.
Is what i'm trying to achieve possible using the Standard Rule Wizard?
The main aim I'm trying to achieve with this is to log thedate and time when one of us replies/acknowledges to an email, yet if when I reconnect to the inbox, the flags are re-applied, this will change the data of the original "Complete Date/Time" made by my colleagues and skew the information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)
Fresh installation of Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012.
Our first test account cannot access their email via Outlook but can access fine through OWA. The following message appears - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)" is displayed.
If I turn off cached Exchange mode, setting the email account to not cache does not resolve the issue and i get a new error message - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file (path\profile name).ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost). Very odd since it creates its own .ost file when you run it for the first time.
I cleared the appdata local Outlook folder and I tested on a new laptop that has never connected to Outlook, same error message on any system.
Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running.
No warning, error or critical messages in the eventlog, it's like the healthiest server alive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't encountered this issue with previous versions of Exchange.
OWA and DOD CAC problems
Outlook task with corrupted attached messages
Dear community,
Currently I am experencing a problem with Outlook tasks that included email attachments messages.
When open the tasks first of all i receive the error "could not open one or more atachments." and when you try to open up the attachment itself
i get the error message "one or more parameters are incorrect".
looking with mfcmapi at the attachment and his properties I noticed the strange settings or the error mentioned.
see picture
Selecting the attachment and looking at his values, the pr_attach_method propertyname dispaly a value of 0, while the object itself says method "attach_embedded_msg"; which corresponds with a value of 5.
Modifying the propertyname value seems impossible.
how can i rectify this error without performing a restore ofcourse. ;-)
and what is the root cause of this?

Migrated using PST, problem with replying to old mails now
Hi,
we have migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We built a new Exchange 2013 organization with new Active Directory... All new :)
After exporting all mailboxes to PST's, we imported them using new-mailboximportrequest...
Everything works fine except answering older mails.
When the recipient was inside the old Exchange Organization, Outlook sends back an NDR, that the recipient could not be found.
When we choose the recipient again from Outlook Addressbook, then it works.
How can i now update all old mails with the right recipient information ?

Outlook 2013 not down-loeading Emails from IMAP; one message stuck in draft folder
Hello,
Not being a computer buff and having gone through the various discussion fora I can't find my specific problem:
1. Outlook gets stuck in the send/receive mode and, subsequently, does not complete the IMAP synchornization, but here is no unsent message in the Outbox.
2. However, there is an old message in the Outlook draft folder (not in visible in the folder of the E-mail account) which I suspect is the reason for the programme to get stuck. I cannot delete and purge that message, despite trying in several ways, online and offline. This message had an 8MB attachment (which I have been able to delete).
3. As a consequence (I assume) Outlook gets entirely blocked at random intervals. When I try to close it the message comes that "Outlook iis not responding" and needs to re-start.
Any advice?
Christoph
Outlook Synchronization issue
Earlier we had created her archive folder in portal because her mail box was full, during that period we were using office 2010.
Now since the archive folder does not support office 2010, we were unable to view her archive folder in outlook which we had created in portal.
The reason behind purchasing the license office 2013 was only to view her archive folder which we have created in portal.
Cannot Share Calendars MS Exchange Account
I can understand directions and am an intermediate not-IT-professional user of OUtlook but I can figure out why i can't share my calendar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am using MS Office Outlook 2013. When I go to Mail>Account Settings, it says my e-mail account "type" is Microsoft Exchange. We subscribe to Office365 and this service supplies us with Exchange server. As a matter
of fact, I have shared calendars before and I have had calendars shared with me.
In the calendar view of MS OUtlook, I have a list of several calendars that I have created. There are only TWO once called: Calendar, the other called My Calendar that have my MS Exchange e-mail address out to the right of them. Like: "My Calendar sample@microsoft.com" These are the only two calendars that I can shared. If I click on another calendar such as "Off TIme", in the Folder Tab, the Share Calendar button is "greyed-out" or unavailable.
How can I create additional calendars that are shareable? Ideally, I would like to be able to share other calendars that I have already created that are already in my calendar list
Hosted Exchange Outlook connectivity issues
I have a small office of 5 people all running Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1 with all updates, & Outlook 2010 via a hosted exchange. For some months now, Outlook has not functioned properly in the office environment. We have been throughALL the usual Outlook troubleshooting to no avail; even a complete reinstall. DittoALL the connectivity tests & all say it's fine - Microsoft analysed Netmon reports in detail. I have replaced my hosted exchange provider and Router but the problem persists. Both Microsoft & my Exchange provider say that things are working fine. We know it isn't because Outlook periodically drops the connection or hangs completely. The only solution is to force close & restart - which gets very frustrating after the 15th time ....
The weird thing is that Outlook functions brilliantly at home! One further clue is that accessing a shared calendar seems to be the catalyst for most crashes.
I recently ran OffCAT scan & got this back:
