Problem with forms authentication in OWA

$

Hi

I have a problem with exchange 2013 standard

When I enable forms authentication on OWA, after logging in I get a 404 file not found error.

Forms authentication works fine on ECP.

I noticed that the login url has a ReturnUrl on the querystring which is double url encoded.i.e. I am getting

https://centaur.patriot.local/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fcentaur.patriot.local%2fowa%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl%3d%252fowa%252f%253fbO%253d1%26bO%3d1

If I unescape the ReturnUrl and put that in the browser,(like the following), it works:

https://centaur.patriot.local/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=https%3a%2f%2fcentaur.patriot.local%2fowa%2flogin.aspx%3fReturnUrl=/owa/?bO=1&bO=1

So either IIS is redirecting twice or the redirect url is incorrect.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

OWA logs user out when they try to set an Out Of Office Message

After upgrading to Exchange 2013 users can no longer set their Out Of Office (via OWA option 'Set Automatic Replies'). When a user tries to do so via OWA they are immediately logged out and get the error message "The user name or password you entered isn't correct. Try entering it again."

We are currently on CU3, not sure if the problem was introduced in Exchange 2013 initially or once CU3 was applied.

Users see the same behavior when they try to check a Message Delivery Report via OWA.

OWA Blank Attachment Preview with Office Web Apps Server

Environment:  Exchange 2013 CU3 / Office Web Apps Server 2013
OS:  Windows Server 2012 R2

After implementing Office Web Apps server per the Integration with Exchange 2013 instructions, attachment previews in OWA show up as blank windows.  The pop up says Opening your mailbox, then goes blank.  I have the WAC endpoint configured in Exchange, I can access the discovery URL from the Exchange servers, and I am seeing event 142.  Some forums say that these events should be in the CAS application logs.  I am seeing mine in the Mailbox server app logs.  Has anyone seen a similar issue. I have also attempted to view the ULS logs on the Office Web Apps server, but I don't see anything that looks like a rendering request.  But, I also don't know what that request would look like.  The Exchange and Office Web Apps server are in the same network with no firewall in between them The local firewalls have also been turned off, so any type of blockage should not be the issue.

OWA redirects to 2007 for a 2013 mailbox

I have one user that has been migrated to Exchange 2013 but when they log into OWA they get redirected to the 2007 legacy OWA server.

I have verified that the mailbox is on a 2013 database.

Any ideas on how to get them using the 2013 OWA like everyone else?

Exchange 2013 - OWA Password Expired - Requiring DOMAIN\Username

Hello,

We have recently upgraded from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 CU2. When a user's password expires and they login to OWA, the system allows them to change the password. However, Exchange 2013 OWA requires them to use the format 'DOMAIN\username' and it will not except just the username or username@domain.com.  This was not an issue in Exchange 2010.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Thank you

Outlook 2010 Contact changes revert back to previous version

I have a user on a corporate domain who is using Outlook 2010 to connect to an Exchange 2010 Server.  Everything is working normally except for the user's Contacts; she is able to create new contacts with no issues.  However, when she modifies an existing contact and saves the changes, the changes will only remain for a short period of time.  Sometime after the changes are made, the contact will revert back to its original information and the changes are lost.  The amount of time between when the changes are made and the contact reverts is unpredictable and will occur even if Outlook remains open the entire time (in other words, Outlook does NOT have to be closed and re-opened for the incident to occur.)

We have even gone as far as removing the user's Outlook profile and associated files and recreating the profile on the machine.  This has not fixed the issue.

The specifics for the user:

Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010

Intel Core i3 Processor with 4GB of memory

Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated!

Outlook Web App incorrect information about features and browser compatability

$

The Outlook Web App help pages are riddled with incorrect information. Microsoft want to charge me £199 to tell them this by phone. It is incredibly frustrating as this misleading information is preventing me from using the OWA as I need to use it.

The browser compatability list suggests that iOS6 and later supports the full/best version when they only seem to support the Light version. Using Safari on an iPad Air allows you to select the Light version when you log in but ignores your choice and forces the Light version on you whether you wanted it or not:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/support/supported-browsers-for-outlook-web-app-HA102824601.aspx

Once in the OWA light version, the instructions for switching to the full version are either out of date of simply incorrect (there are no options as described):

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office-online-help/outlook-web-app-light-HA102846728.aspx?CTT=1

According to this help page, the From field is shown with every new email. It is not. The From field is deliberately excluded from the current Light version for some unknown reason. This is absolutely critical to me as I need to send via Exchange distribution groups:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/office-online-help/outlook-web-app-light-mail-HA102846730.aspx?CTT=1

How can Microsoft publish such misleading help information?

How can I access full Exchange email features on iOS and android?

$

I currently use a virtual exchange server (2010) in conjunction with outlook 2007. I have several distribution groups set up so I can send from different email addresses through a single exchange server mailbox. This works fine on windows pcs. Unfortunately I have not found a way of accessing this full exchange functionality on either my android phone or my iPad. Neither the stock mail apps nor any third party mail apps I have tried support the use of distribution group From fields. Worse, the Outlook Web App that is fully featured on my windows pcs (where I don't need it) for some reason becomes a light version when accessed on an iPad air or android phone. The light version does not support From fields at all, whether distribution group based or not. I have tried using safari and dolphin and OWA always defaults to and won't let me change from the feature crippled light version.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can access Exchange's changeable From fields on iPad or Android phone?

outlook 2013 people pane is not showing any items for internal domain users. External contacts works fine

I have recently purchase a new PC which has Windows 8.1, and Outlook 2013, connected to an exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 server.

In the People pane, the for External clients, then this box populates correctly, but for internal domain users, it shows "There are no items to show in this view"

On my OLD PC using XP, and Outlook 2010, connected to the SAME account, then people pane shows correctly for all users.

Any help appreciated

Windows Phone 8 get mail over internet.

Hi

This regards Windows Phone 8 and Exchange 2013 running on Server 2012.

I can get an Outlook account set up on the phone in the office by using wifi and the local server name but I haven't got a clue how to do this over the internet.  If I put in the mail domain, user name, password etc. no link can be established.

Searches only tell me what I already know, something fundamental is being assumed!

Andrew

Free busy issue outlook 2010

I am sorry if i am posting this in the wrong place.

We have exchange 2010 sp3 in 3 sites ( US , UK and Africa)

Users in UK start complaining they are not able to See free busy of US users but can see free busy of UK and African users.

We later identified this could be due to the more no of groups which result in increased token size, so we removed 1 users couple of group membership and  he was able to see free busy of other users in US.

Then we have done a registry change in all CAS server to set MAX token zize

  1. Create the following registry keys on all CAS servers ( Exchange Server 2010 SP1 CAS servers) in the Active Directory site:
    • Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
      Name: MaxFieldLength
      Type: DWORD
      Value data: 65534
    • Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
      Name: MaxRequestBytes
      Type: DWORD
      Value date: 16777216

But now users start complaining that they now cant see free busy of africa and US users, This affected only 5 users and all user outlook 2010.

P.S: No luck with OWA also for these users.

Please suggest.

Action Items link in email displays a 404 error

Just installed a pair of Exchange 2013 servers in our organization and have configured a load balancer for access.  Mail flow, Activesync, calendar, etc.. are all working as expected but some emails display the Action Items link in Outlook.  When I click on it, the section expands and a 404 error is displayed.  If it were a connectivity issue with the load balancer I would expect to get a 'cannot access page' message.  This page is obviously generated by Exchange (if I scroll down it shows the same visual style as the Exchange 2013 OWA page).  I've tried searching solutions online and find plenty of information on developing Mail Apps but not much on administering them.  Anyone else run into this problem and/or know how to fix it?

Thanks!

User come in in the morning and outlook wont accept there password untill they log into OWA

Some mornings (not all) we get several users complain that outlook it asking to provide credentials (this is almost a daily issue but the user effected changes)

some times just leaving the account for a few minuets (20 or so) will then allow the accounts to log in again.

Also if we get the effected user to log into OWA outlook seems to burst back into life again.

I think we have ruled out client issues as it has happened at least once or twice to every user member (about 120 users)

OWA always works though.

Has any one seen this before or have any idea what could be causing this. I have my own suspicions but whant to know what people think first.

Restart-Service "Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistants"
then
Download OAB on user site

Anyway user photo is updated in AD but not in GAL neither in Outlook nor in OWA

Exchange 2013 with CU3 and silent redirection to different AD site

After updating Exchange 2013 CU2 to Exchange 2013 CU3, OWA silent site redirection feature become not available. The customer has two Exchange 2013 sites. Before we updated to CU3, user whose mailbox located on site A, could be automatically redirected to OWA on site A, after he logged on to OWA on site B. IE gives Error page and bring out link to the OWA page on site A. Here is screenshot about issue workaround.

Hopefully someone will help with some hint because it is quite anoying.

All other stuff works good, Outlook anywhere, autodiscover, only this remained.

Thanks in advance,

Exchange 2013 with CU3 and silent redirection to different AD site (different namespace- localized)

Hello,

i googled and googled for solution but can't find anything on this matter.

When we had Exchange 2010 with latest update (still exists during migration) and we had 3 datacenters with CAS servers all facing Internet with different name and it was silently redirecting:

europe.domain.com

america.domain.com

canada.domain.com

asia.domain.com

mail.domain.com (this one was for generic purposes and if user is in different AD site it would silently redirect to correct hostname).

Now i have Exchange 2013 with latest updates and receiving error as in picture.

When i click on link, of course it works after second authentication:

first one at generic name: mail.domain.com and second one when i go to canada.domain.com.

All external and internal host names are good. We are using split DNS so they are the same, but each datacenter has it's own name.

Hopefully someone will help with some hint because it is quite anoying.

All other stuff works good, Outlook anywhere, autodiscover, only this remained.

Thanks in advance,

Ivica

Exchange 2013 / 2013 Coexistence - OWA rendering on 2010 CAS for 2013 Mailbox

$

So I'm running Exchange 2013 CU2v2 alongside Exchange 2010 SP3 (both on top of 2008 R2 SP1) and I'm having a bit of a weird thing happen when migrating test users from Exchange 2010 to 2013.

After migrating a user from a database on the 2010 server to a database on the 2013 server, when you access OWA (through a url pointing at the 2013 server), it still appears to render on the 2010 CAS (and functions normally). If you click ? > About it shows properly that the mailbox server is the 2013 server, but the host address and client access server are still the old 2010 server. It seems that after a few hours it fixes itself. ECP, however, renders properly on the 2013 server immediately after migration. The migration completes successfully with no errors, and outlook connects fine after migration, hitting the 2013 CAS.

I thought maybe this had to do with the Exchange Information Systems Cache, as in 2010 this was occasionally an issue:

http://www.terminal.com/blog/bid/70313/Moving-Mailboxes-During-an-Exchange-Migration

but the mailbox will still render on the 2010 CAS even after restarting the ExchangeIS service.

I should also note that this behavior DID NOT occur with Exchange 2013 CU1 alongside 2010, and only started happening after upgrading to CU2v2.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is happening and what I can do to make it transition quickly to render OWA against the new mailbox? Thanks!
