Migrating From IMAP to Exchange 2013

Hi

I'm looking to migrate from a hosted imap email provider to racked exchange server 2013

we have about users, but also some of the services we provide generate and send mail

We are looking to just migrate the users for now, but at the risk of sounding stupid, I don't think this is possible due to the domain and the mx records, as in we don't want to change the email address' and we would be able to have both hosted and in house, using the same domain

Any help and advice is very much appreciated

Site-to-Site VPN 2 Exchange Servers autodiscover error

$

It doesnt get any more basic:

2 Windows 2012 on a site-to-site vpn same domain. Ex. server1.contoso.local and server2.contoso.local

Both servers are Domain Servers w/ Exchange 2013 CAS roles

I have configured mailbox databases on both servers and configured users to the database of the server local to them.

I have configured a SRV internally for the _autodiscover

Both servers exchange settings for owa, autodiscover, ecp... all point to their local address. Ex: server1 = server1.contoso.local

My problem is Domain Authenticated users on the internal networks MS Outlook will change their Exchange proxy settings to the wrong server. Ex: user1 on server1 but proxy setting has changed to server2.contoso.local

I can manually change the setting back to the correct server but every so often it will switch them to the other server?

Some Adresses seems to be damaged, Mails does not reach the receipient

Hi,

we have following problem with one costumer:

He is sending invitations from outlook to a notes client behind a domino server. But the receipient gets an damaged invitation. The sender takes the address out of his contacts. If he deletes the contact or he types the address manuell, all seems to be fine. The invitation reaches the receipient and can be accepted or declined.

If you want to look behind a contact and choose preferences, I will get an errror.

What is the problem? I've often problems with damaged contacts but I can't find something in the web. Can I control and/or repair all contacts at once to prevend such problems?

Microsoft Outlook Web App Font problem

Hi guys,
I've been using the Outlook Web App with my company and we have a problem with fonts.
The default fonts people are getting : Arial, Courrier New, Helvetica, Tahoma, Times New Roman and Verdana.
We have 5 other workers who have more fonts than the above mentioned ones. The only difference on their PCs is that they have their account configured directly with the desktop Outlook. When they access the Web App version, they get all the fonts that are included in the desktop Outlook install.
Does this mean that Outlook needs to be installed and configured in order to get more fonts with the Web App?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Marc

Outlook/Exchange Won't Deliver Duplicate Messages

For testing purposes, I often send multiple automated messages to myself that are identical and it seems that Outlook/Exchange is being "smart" by not delivering subsequent messages that are the same.

Does anyone know is this is the case? If so, can I turn this functionality off?

Outlook 2010 - Could not connect to public folder server

$

Hi,

I just setup a brand new Exchange 2013 mail server. I get 'Could not connect to public folder server' in Outlook 2010 only and not in Outlook 2013. Is this normal? We are not using public folders at all and we don't have them setup in Exchange 2013.

Outlook 2010 -> sync issues ->

17:08:02                               Could not connect to public folder server.

17:08:02                               [0-0]

Outlook 2013 -> sync issues ->

Doesn't have  'Could not connect to public folder server' error.

Thanks

Hello Everyone,

I installed a new exchange 2013 in Windows Server 2012, post which i can login to OWA and getting e-mails.

When i try to view the e-mail, it says "Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later"

When i try to compose an e-mail and click on send option it says "The message can't be sent right now. please try again later"

I verified authentication and IIS settings, but couldn't able to figure out what could be the problem.

Kindly share your thoughts.

Out of Office stopped working with Outlook 2013

Hello,

A few days ago we noticed that people using Outlook 2013 could no longer access their out of office. Everyone using 2010 or 2007 can still use it.  We are running exchange 2007.

The problem isn't with the mailboxes as on older versions of office they can use OOF. They can also use OOF in OWA.

As OOF was working I'm wondering if this is a bug with a windows update? I've checked autodiscover is working, and it's not being stopped by our proxy.

If anyone could shed any light on this I'd be really grateful.

Thanks

Michael

Office 365 - Mailbox Delegation

$

We are having trouble with mailbox delegation.  I'd like my staff to be able to add and remove other's mailboxes from their Outlook from time to time. I've granted "Full Access" in the Exchange admin center.  This causes the mailbox to show up in their mailbox list without using the Advanced tab in the Account Settings area of Outlook, "Open these additional mailboxes."  I, personally, want access to 15 others mailboxes from time to time, but I don't want all 15 listed in my Outlook all the time.  When I grant full access, it shows on the mailbox list in Outlook but the users are not able to remove it, only me via the Exchange admin center.  Is there a solution to my issue?  Thank you!

How to configure redirection in coexistence 2010/2013 ?

In a coexistence and project migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, I cannot use the CAS 2013 to publish OWA services and proxy EX2010 mailboxes.

On CAS2010 there is a Symantec archiving solutions which OWA custom extensions doesn't work if the OWA2010 connections is received from CAS2013 in a proxy mode.

I'm looking a way to publish both 2010 and 2013 CAS server with 2 different external URL. Use the primary URL owa.company.com/owa to login on CAS2013 and in case the mailbox is on EX2010 a redirect legacy.compay.com/owa should be connect the user to the CAS2010.

Follow my scenario:

  • Two Exchange 2013 Server (CU3) with CAS role
  • Two Exchange 2013 Server (CU3) with Mailbox (in a DAG)
  • Two Exchange 2010 CAS Servers SP3
  • Two Exchange 2010 Mailbox Servers SP3 (in a DAG)

Actually any services (POP, IMAP, EWS, ActiveSync, Outlook Anywhere) are published by CAS2013 and are working fine with the proxy mode.

I configured different ExternalUrl and InternalUrl for CAS2010 and CAS2013, but when a mailbox user logon on CAS2013 it proxy the OWA page then a redirect.

Googling I understand is it possibile just configuring different ExternalUrl on CAS, but it's doesn't work to me.

thanks

Outlook Connectivity Problem on 2003 Term Server - Exchange 2013

$

I am working on deploying a new 2013 Exchange server. The Exchange is installed on a 2012 Server OS. I have three windows terminal servers (or remote desktop services) at three separate locations that have users working on them via thin-client - (RDP). The users run Outlook 2010 from the three servers. Two of the terminal servers are Windows 2008 R2 and one is 2003 R2 Standard. I am able to get the Outlook clients to connect to Exchange from the two 2008 servers but the Outlook clients on the 2003 server are so far unable to connect to the Exchange server.

When I try to add the mail profile from the control panel - signed on as each user - it auto detects the user profile and looks like it connects but then it prompts for a password. I can try to input the password but it will not accept it. Ultimately it fails with a message indicating Outlook cannot log on etc., etc.

These three servers are at three different locations but connect back to the location where the Exchange server resides via MPLS. Connectivity between locations is solid.

Odd thing is I have an old 2003 server at the same location where the Exchange box is and I fired it up and tried to connect an Outlook client from it and it does not work either.

Does anyone know of any documented problems with connecting to 2013 Exchange from a 2003 server OS? Or, conversely, has anyone successfully deployed Exchange to Outlook clients on a 2003 server?

Outlook cant see all allday appoitments chared calender

Hi!

I can not see some of my boss all day appointments on the outlook client on the computer, but I can see all of them in OWA. We have checked the permissions set for me and they are the same as for all others on my department (no one else have this problem).

We have tried to change and clear my outlook profile on the computer with no success. (with switches such as /celarview and others, and mannualy deleting the .ost file) Also we have cleared my windows profiles, i.e clean install on the computer. Also we tried to change my permissions to highest (i.e full access to her entries) and it worked (for a while) but it is no solutions since she does not want to grand me access due to the possibility to sensitive information in calender posts.

Nothing has helped.

Could it have something to do with the fact that she is registering some events on her exchange account on iphone (standard calender) and other through the computer (we have made sure that all "iphone" entries are visible and "outlook" blocket or the other way around) anyhow it is strange that everyone else see all of the entries.

We are running Office 2010 on windows 7 64x. Have to check with IT dep. if you need more specifics on versions and so.

This is getting a bit annoying since I can not see if she is away and I will then book her in for meetings in house that wont work. (this has happen several times)

/M.

Exchange 2003 - Block client IP from connecting to server

Running SBS 2003 and looking to block all exchange access to particular clients on the local network. These blocked computers should not be able to send or receive mail using outlook clients or webmail. In fact they should not be able to access the webmail site at all.

What would be the best method to configure this? I have tried going into ESM -> AdminGroups -> Servers -> "ServerName" -> Protocols -> SMTP -> Right click Default SMTP VS -> Properties

Under Access Tab -> Connection -> and entering the ip address of the client I would like to block. However after restarting the STMP & Routing services the client using the blocked IP is still able to send and receive mail normally.

I also ensured that under the general tab -> advanced -> "Exchange IP" -> edit -> the apply connection filter is checked.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Server name cannot be resolved using VPN connection

$

I've just installed Windows Server 2012 and Exchange 2013. I previously was using Windows SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and I was able to connect to the server via VPN and create an Outlook account and connect to the Exchange server no problems.

Now with the WS2012 and Exchange 2013 everything is working fine but when I connect to the VPN from outside the network and try to create a new Exchange account in Outlook, I get the error "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."

When I'm on the VPN I can ping both server name and IP address no problems so that isn't the issue. I've searched the net and tried multiple things including turning off firewall on both sides.

To clarify my setup I have two WS2012 servers. One is DC and VPN server, other is Exchange 2013 server which has both CAS and Mailbox roles.

I have a suspicion that the issue is to do with certificates. I don't have a valid bought SSL certificate, I am just using self-signed certificate. Can anyone verify that this is the issue or could it be something else?

Thanks.

OWA 2013 GAL Not Showing Users Details

$

Hi,

After upgrading from Exchange 2010 to 2013, I am seeing some issues within the 'People' section of OWA. I can see a list of users, groups, contacts but when selecting any of them, the user information to the right is missing. Also, it will not allow me to select any of the other users apart from the top one.

If I try this in Outlook client, it works fine.

What am I missing here?

Thanks

Dave
