Hi,

I"m running Exchange 2007 SP3 on VM running Server 2008 Enterprise.

When I try and save my OOF, change Regional Settings or Appearance, I get a message saying "Your changes were not saved because of a Microsoft Exchange error"

I've checked the logs in Event Viewer which isn't showing any errors.

Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks in Advance,

Adam

Emails in folders not visible in Outlook 2010

I am having an issued and wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

We have an exchange server at work, everything works fine with Outlook 2007. However, recently we have started purchasing some new computers at work and they all have Outlook 2010 on them. Now the problem starts.

If I go to the server or our online Web access I can see everything in my email just fine (inbox/folders/etc...perfect). However, if I sit down at my laptop or desktop I cannot see all the Emails in the folders. I see some of my emails but not all of them.

It's very strange problem, as the emails exist, I can see them on the Web access, and if I run a search from my Outlook on my desktop or laptop then I can see the Emails - and it shows what folder they are in. However, if I click on the folder it's either blank or shows only Emails that are very old - and I know that I've moved things into the folder recently.

So, I did a test. I went to the Web access, created a new folder, moved emails from an old folder into this new folder, went back into my desktop's Outlook, opened up the new folder and poof - they are there...imagine that.

I cannot imagine having to re-create folders and move all the emails but so far that is the only way I've been able to fix this problem. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions? It's such a frustrating situation that I would hope I'm missing a simple fix for this?

Accessing OWA on non-Windows machines

Hi

We are running Exchange 2010 backend. For OWA, we have CAS servers configured for both IWA and FBA.

IWA: https://webmail.domain.com/owa
FBA: https://mail.domain.com/owa

This all works fine internally.

We will soon be deploying some non-Windows devices (e.g. tablets). We have an app that will create a VPN tunnel between the tablet and the corp network. Testing shows that the IWA URL won't work here, so we need to use the FBA URL.

I was wondering how this all actually works in terms of NTLM/kerberos etc and why we MUST use the FBA URL?

Importing IMAP to Exchange

I recently had to move all the emails from an IMAP account into an Exchange 2010 account.  I did this by exporting everything to a PST and then reimporting it into the newly created Exchange account.  This has worked great for me in the past with POP accounts.

However.....
Now all of the folders that I imported are still "IMAP" folders, rather than standard Outlook/Exchange folders.  Which means that they automatically have a filter applied to display only IMAP elements.  Which means that any new incoming email that is moved into one of those folders disappears from sight unless you manually remove the filter - an action which doesn't remove the filters from subfolders.  Ooops....

Re-exporting the mailbox using a POP connection is not an option; the server does not work properly with POP connections.

This mailbox has several hundred subfolders.  Can anyone offer me advice on how to do one of the following:
1. Re-import the data without retaining the "folder-type" information
2. Change the "folder-type" on an Outlook folder
3. Remove filtering from a folder and all subfolders in Outlook
4. Automatically recreate each folder with the same name but the proper "folder-type" and then move the emails over
OR
5. Manually perform #4 while somehow retaining my sanity

Obviously, any other viable workarounds are also welcome.  Thanks!

Cannot drag and Drop messages with a '#' in the subject into a new Outlook message.

We are using Outlook  2010 Enterprise with Exchange 2010.  Users have reported they are unable to drag and drop messages with a '#' in the subject into a new Outlook message.  As a work around, they can drag and drop the message to a folder and then again from the folder to the new mesage.  They cannot do this in one step if the message has a '#' in the subject.  I have confirmed this issue on three seperate worksastions and accounts.

Outlook: Need to filter OUT calendar notifications received on someone else's behalf

Hi!  I'm a delegate for some else's calendar.  But he gets so many meeting requests that it's killing my inbox.  And since these meeting requests show me in the "To" field, I haven't figured out how to create a rule that would dump all of HIS notifications in a sub-folder, without all of my MY meeting requests going there, as well.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be extremely grateful if you'd share them.  He wants me to receive these notifications so that I can respond on his behalf, if necessary.  So I can't ask him to go in and un-click the checkmark under his delegate access list.  But I've got to figure out a way to get these out of my inbox without my having to open each of them and check to see who they are really addressed to.

Thanks,

Elizabeth

The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Cannot empty Deleted Items - Exchange 2010 and outlook 2007

Dear All,

In my organization a user have a problem, they are unable to delete emails from Deleted Items folder nor from Outlook 2007 nor from OWA.

The messages are very small (few KB) so I think it's not a problem of messages dimension. The user can move the messages from a folder to another (from Deleted Items to Drafts or to another folder and viceversa) but no way to delete permanently these messages.

Outlook runs on Remote Desktop Server so I can't put it in Cached Mode.

Error Message:

"some items cannot be deleted. They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied "

Environment:

  • Exchange 2010 with SP1 update rollup 4-v2
  • 2 Server Box Installation
  • Mailbox Clustered (DAG)
  • HUB & CAS (NLB)
  • Incoming message size 50MB
  • Send Connectors Message Size: 50MB
  • User Client (Outlook 2007 with Latest Updates)

Any IDEA??

Regards,

Milena.

Outlook 2003 email still in outbox (but it does send) only when in cached mode, Exchange Server 2003

This is happening to over a dozen users now. The emails send, but they don't move to Sent Items, they sit in the Outbox. The user can't tell if they sent for sure until / unless they get a reply. If I turn off Cached Mode the items disappear from the Outbox and if I turn it back on they stay gone. But a day or two later the problem comes back. At the moment I have the 'trouble' users running in non-cached mode, but I would like to get everyone back to cached. Today another user came to me with this same thing, so it appears to be a growing issue. Any ideas on where this is coming from and how to fix it?

I have tried starting Outlook in Safe Mode and deleting the OST file.  The AV software on the PCs has no email component.  This is happening to people with different size mailboxes, but most of them are fairly small - under 1 gig.

Calendar Sharing not available error message

Trying to share my calendar with staff at the office here. I get the error:

Calendar sharing is not available with the following entries because of permission settings on your network.

I am using Offiice 2007 SP1, Exchange Server 2007 SP1

I can however go to the other workstation and use the "open a shared calendar" option to access my shared calendar.

It does work on some accounts, but not the majority of accounts.

Where do I start trouble shooting this issue? How do I check the "permission settings on my network"

Sorry if this is an easy one, I'm a new user to exchange. This is not a full production setup yet, still testing before I let folks know what it can do.

Thanks

Plain and Simple - How do I create a GPO to deploy a Safe Sender list?

$

Outlook 2010, Exchange 2010.  Mix of Windows 7 and XP clients.  All desktops, GB network bandwidth to all the clients.
I created a GPO to automatically import a safe sender list per KB 2252421.

When I open Outlook, I don't see any entries in my safe sender list.

I read one of the other threads and disabled the Import Append setting and created a DWord value of 1 for JunkMailImportLists and JunkMailImportAppend in the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\outlook\options\mail

At that location, I do see a JunkMailSafeSendersFile whose value is the path to the network share containing the file.  The path does contain spaces so I enclosed the entire thing in quotes:

"\\emcc.edu\home\IT System Resources\Whitelist\whitelist.txt"

Not sure if the quotes were needed or not.

Despite numerous gpupdates and reboots, my safe send list remains vacant.

I can manually import the file in Outlook so I don't think it has anything to do with the file content or permissions.

Thanks to all who post.

Outlook 2010 keeps prompting for Exchange server password

$

I have found tons of threads about this issue, but have not been able to find a solution yet.

I am running Exchange 2010 SP1 in a small domein environment, 1 DC, 1 Exchange Server

I was running exchange 2010 SP1 for about a year, after this year i was asked to implement Outlook anywhere.

Since i have implemented this feature, the existing clients (desktops in the domain) are often prompted for their exchange password.

Remote (domain/laptop) users only need to enter their password once, when they start Outlook, which is acceptable, but doesnt seem to be how its designed ?

What can be the cause of this issue ? Can someone please guide me through it, im not an Exchange 2010 Expert :)

Thank you

Exchange Archived Mailbox query

Hi,

Was trying to find out how mails are accessed in an archived mailbox from an outlook client. Understand that archived mailbox are not cached on an outlook client.

Below is the scenario for which I am seeking an answer:

If the archived mailbox is 10GB in size and has 100,000 items, when the user is accessing the archived mailbox in his/her outlook client, does the outlook client

1. sync/download all 100,000 mail items from the backend for the user to access the archived emails?

2. sync/download all 100,000  headers only?

3. sync/download all 100,000 headers then the mail items?

4. sync/download the recent xx mail items? Can this be configured in the backend to change the xx variable count?

5. sync/download the recent yy headers only? Can this be configured in the backend to change the yy variable count?

Thanks in advance. :)

Unable to reply to a message due to Request Timeout error from Outlook client

When a user replies to a message from another user (internal user) she can't send the mails due to request timeout error. Normally, I'm telling them to go to address book and select the user instead of replying or selecting the stored history from their outlook just to send out the email but it's weird because how does the server doesn't recognize the email address since the user just replied to the recipient. Any explanation on this?

Outlook always disconnected

Outlook duplicates file extensions...Please Help!!!

$

I only like to keep one final copy of an email and I typically copy the attachement(s) that may have been received with an initial email into the final/last email received within a communication after it may have went back a forth between all receipients many times. I simply used Copy/Paste and I have been doing this for years with no problems.

It appears that with the migration to Exchange 2010 this has created an issue as when I Copy/Paste the file extension is duplicated...Example: File.zip becomes File.zip.zip when Pasted into another Email. This happens with all files (Example.xlsx becomes Example.xlsx.xlsx) and if you continue the chain by Copying a previously Pasted file the extension increases...File.zip.zip.zip, and so forth.

Does anyone know of a solution around this issue as currently the only work around is to Save the initial file to my Harddrive and then Copy/Paste from my Harddrive to the final Email which is a lot of additional steps required from what used to be a fairly simply process.

Thanks,

This template isthen called directlyfrom the folder(not a longway about FILE->NEW-SELECT NEW TEMPLATE). Just directly from the folder .

I look forward to you ideas.

hi all,

I have an outlook user having an odd issue and I cannot find anything!

some and it seems to be only some emails that are sent are then going to the drafts folder.

I am not sure if this is user error as I am not there when he says this happens

there are no outlook rules at all so it cannot be this.

Is there anything else I can check? I am just running a virus scan as we speak.

any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Outlook 2007/2010 meeting tracking is not updating with responses‎ from invited users in Distribution groups

$

Hi

We have a user that is inviting corporate Exchange users to a company party.
Some users are direct added to the invite list but most of them are in Distribution Groups that are added.

Responses are only showing up from the direct added users, none of the users in the groups are tracked under Tracking.
No emails of their responses are coming neither.

Clients are Outlook 2007 and 2010 fully patched.

Exchange server is Exchange 2007 SP3 Rollup 8v2

I thought it was Request Response option that was not set but why are the direct added users Tracked then?

Anyone seen this? Am I missing something?

Robert
