Exchange 2013 not returning OAB URL Issue

We have implemented our Exch2013 servers 2 server 1 dag w/ 2 databases. We are using split DNS.

We have only moved over 2 users to the 2013 environment and ran into an issue with Address book not updating. Everything else checks out fine.

What I have found so far is the Autodiscover is not returning an OAB URL.

Test-outlookwebservice gives me this with a verbose:

"VERBOSE: [22:01:59.504 GMT] Test-OutlookWebServices : Autodiscover response:Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.ServiceValidatorException: The Autodiscover response did not return a URL forOffline Address Book. Response details:"

Get-clientaccessserver shows the autodiscover urls correctly.

Get-offlineaddressbook shows external/internal URls correctly and Webdistriution is enabled.

I have tried removing and rebuilding the autodiscover virtual directory based on some other troubleshooting I have found, but it is still not working.

Any ideas?

MAPI over HTTP with Exchange migration

Hi all,

if I have an Exchange migration (2007 to 2013), is it possibile to enable MAPI/HTTP on Exchange 2013 servers first to mailbox migration?
Is it better to use different namespace for MAPI/HTTP that point only to Exchange 2013 servers?
Or is it better to enable MAPI/HTTP after legacy Exchange Server complete remove?

Exchange 2010 sp3 issue with changing passwords

I have a unique issue with my Exchange 2010 sp3 environment.  Users can access OWA with no issue.  However, if a user tries to change password due to password expiring, or change on next log on, it give the error "The user name or password you entered isn't correct.  Try entering it again".  Then they try and try to no end. 

What is odd is that it actually does change the password.  I have verified that in test with a couple different accounts.  I go into AD and I see the change password at next log on flag removed.  Also, if I go back to the OWA homepage, I can log on with the new password.  It is strange why I get the error and window that would allow a user to keep trying.

My environment:

Exchange 2010 sp3

I have a mult domain environment so I'm using forms based authentication with the format domain\user name.

I have a resource domain with linked Exchange accounts. 

I have configured the registry on the CAS server for changing passwords, but not the database server. 

Any ideas what might be going on there?

2013 coexistence with 2010 Name cannot be matched to a name in the address book

I'm running Exchange 2013 in coexistence mode with Exchange 2010. There are no production mailboxes on 2013. We just switched name space for mail.domain.org from Exchange 2010 to the servers on 2013. No problems reported with OWA. Some users have reported that on one computer, their Outlook client is working fine once they changed authentication in their profile from basic to negotiated or NTLM. However the same user will go to a different machine and receive the error: "The action cannot be completed. The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list."

I have actually run into this myself on one machine while I have no problems on three others.

Any ideas what to check or change? Why does it work fine on one client and not another.

Migration Exchange 2010 to 2013 Outlook 2010 and 2013 Clients Not connecting with existing Profile

After migration, about 30% of users are unable to open outlook. I have been working with a Microsoft Premier Engineer for 3 days to no Avail. If I delete/recreate the profiles the connect fine (Not acceptable for 6k users). I can do a repair But the Auto File does not work; this seems to be a symptom of the underlying issue.

The initial installation of Outlook was done with an outlook Customization .MSP. This should only effect the initial profile create. But seems to continue to point the profile to the old 2010 Server. If I create a new profile on the same machine, pointed to the same mailbox, it says "Your Exchange Admin has made a change, please restart..." So I know its not the accounts.

The question is:

Is there a way for force outlook to rediscover the Exchange server on an existing profile?

or is there some fix I am unaware of?

Exchange 2013 CU10 New users cannot download attachments in OWA

Backround : 2 Exchange multirole servers running in a dag with 3 databases. We have around 1250 mailboxes.The problem that was recently brought to my attention is newly provisioned mailboxes cannot download attachments from OWA. All users that were previously provisioned before I install CU10 (from CU9) are able to download attachments from OWA.

Here are the specifics on the users that cannot download attachments from OWA

Users provisioned prior to CU 10 upgrade

users can download the attachment using outlook 2013 and owa light version

I have tried multiple owa policies.

When you click on the attachment in OWA nothing happens. No messages at all.

In the iis logs I can see the GET but no errors

Tried IE Firefox and chrome

works for all users provisioned before CU10

If a user provisioned before CU10 logs into OWA then logs out and a newly provisioned user logs in then the download temporarily works.

The attachments ARE NOT being blocked by policy.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

User logged into more than one PC with Outlook open = Does not connect

Have a support ticket open with Microsoft but not getting anywhere fast

One of the issues we have is that if someone logs into more than one PC and opens their Outlook the latest login does not connect to Exchange

We have tried increasing RCAMaxConcurrency to no avail. Clients are Outlook13 but also same happens on 16. They connect using RPC over HTTP

Any ideas? The same issue manifests itself when opening other mailboxes you have access to including your inline archive(you will get a connection error message)

Any ideas?

IRM for Outlook

Hi,

I have implemented AD RMS in our organization and enabled IRM on our Exchange Server as well. Everything works well. I have found the option 'Restricted Access' when I am trying to protect word, excel and power point where I can select users as required and is quite useful. However I can't find such an option or similar in Outlook when I want to send emails and protect emails from unauthorized recipients. I don't want to go with templates for this and want my users to be able to select recipients for IRM. 

Please help or advise on this.

Reply to an IRM protected message using OWA

Hi,

I have AD RMS implemented in our organization. When I reply to a IRM protected message in Outlook it retains the content of the original message. But when I reply to the same message in OWA the actual content is replaced with the below message:

'This message uses Microsoft Information Protection solutions. Open this item using an email application that supports protected messages, such as Microsoft Outlook. You can download a free trial of Microsoft Office at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=147091. Learn more about Information Protection solutions at http://www.microsoft.com/rms.'

A meeting reminder is set unexpectedly when you send an email message to an Exchange Server user

Hi,

after a smooth migration from Exchange 2007 (SBS) to Exchange 2013 on premise, I've got a solved problem back. A meeting reminder is set unexpectedly when someone sends via mail an invitation to an appointment to a college.

I’ve copied my old storedrive.config from Exchange 2007 where it works fine to the bin-folder of Exchange 2013, restarted the server and it doesn’t work.

The value for AddNewRequestsTentatively is set to true. The ProcessExternalMeetingMessages-value can't be set, because the mailbox is a user mailbox.

Get-CalenderNotifiation shows, that the value for MeetingReminderNotification is set to false.

Has anyone further suggestions, how to get rid of that nasty reminder?

Presence icon missing in Outlook 2013 and 2016

Hi all,

some of our users are experiencing issue with missing presence icon on the left side:

They do not see this icon, only user name. Presence is working fine if we hover over the name and contact card shows up. In OWA it is also working as expected.

Tried both Outlook 2013 and 2016 with same issue. Disabled and also enabled hardware acceleration without any help.

If same account is logged in on another pc, it works fine so it is local issue.

I suspect it is because the issue pc has 4k monitor, we tried different DPI and screen resolution without any help. Even external monitor in difference size has this issue.

Tried GFX driver from pc manufactor, Windows update and also GFX provider without any help.

Seems like this is a known issue from earlier client:

This registry did not help since path shown in the link does not exist. (Common\PersonaMenu and Common\IM).

Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Computer is brand new and it is an annoying bug, since our users have to hover to see their presence.

Issues on only one WiFi Signing in to Outlook with Exchange

Hello,

Ok. Here's the issue.

Trying to connect to my work Outlook account. While I'm at the office at work on WIFI Outlook keeps repeating the "trying to connect... disconnected" notifications at the bottom right.

When I use a wired connection at work it connects just fine.

When I use WIFI at home it connects just fine.

Nobody else in my office is having this issue over WIFI and I'm unable to utilize a wired connection where I am.

Further to this, I have run the Office 365 Support program and it's trying to tell me that my domain name is not registered... which doesn't make any sense if you read the above information. Apparently it's only unregistered when I'm on WIFI at my work office? Doesn't make sense to me.

I connect to my email via Exchange and there is no VPN.

Please help.

Hello,

Linked mailbox has been converted to shared mailbox and the account from the other domain that was the linked master account has been granted full access but still cannot access the mailbox since then 

so is it related to that the account from the other domain doesn`t have mailbox at exchange side ? or what ?

Contacts/people Notes disappearing, not syncing between people view, business card view, and iphone.

if I have notes type in a contact, in people view if I update the notes it does not save, if I update the notes on my iphone it updates the people view but will erase everything out of notes in card view for that contact. If I update notes in card view it will update the iphone and people view, but if it is empty and their is notes type on the iphone or people view it will replace everything on the iphone and in people view

I created a new contact and started updating the from the notes below: I created a new profile, and repaired office 2013 and have the same results.  We use Exchange 2013, activesync and Office 2013.

OWA Delegate Access

Hello Everyone.

First time posting and I'm just getting used to Exchange 2013. I have a client which has granted delegate access to a user in the domain. The user is located at a different office and does not have outlook so she just uses OWA. His calendar does not show up on her OWA. I shared his calendar with her but she cannot make any changes to it. When i try going to the calendar permissions i just get an HTTP error 500 and when i go to share calendar and add her user name the only options I'm getting are: Availability Only, Limited Details and Full details. I know there should be an option there to delegate access. Is there something that needs to be enabled on the server for this to happen besides just the OWA? I've been banging my head against this for 2 days now. Any advice would help.

OWA 2013. No user photos in IE

Hi. Using the same account on different workstations with different IE versions I see that IE does not show user photos.

But Chrome does.

May be OWA 2013 does not support IE?

Hello all!

We have problem with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013. We have big problem with storage and lose our previous database which work on Exchange 2010 and Server 2008. Now we install 3 server, 2 for DAG (with all roles) and for clients (HUB,CAS). Now we have problem with sent letters with big attachements like (30 MBytes). It seems like outlook wait 10-30 minut and after sent mail one by one, sometimes he sent only 1 letter of 3. All mails stuck in Outbox. Small letters very fast. If I work with IMAP, POP3, OWA all very fast. I check counters of prefomance - all perfect. All test Best Practic Analyzer says all ok, include perfomance test(2 hours) This problem and at work days and at night when no clients. Can some one help?

Totally we have 500 clients and now database nearly 200 GByte.

OWA 2013 Deleting drafts to some e-mail addresses

Hello,

We have recently noticed a problem with our Exchange 2013 OWA autosave feature for drafts:

For the most part, we see the following behavior:

  • User opens a new e-mail or responds to e-mail
  • Draft folder shows new draft automatically
  • user closes edited e-mail without saving, draft remains saved

But, in the case of INTERNAL e-mail addresses with subdomains (i.e. bob@test.contoso.com), we see the following

  • User creates new e-mail or replies to e-mail
  • Draft folder shows new draft for the corresponding e-mail
  • user closes e-mail, draft is immediately deleted

I will note that if a user explicitly saves the draft, it remains saved, but any edits must also be saved explicitly.

So far, the only cause is that any internal addresses has a subdomain, it will fail.  Regardless of whether the address exists in AD or not, so we can't tie t to that, it also is not an issue for external addresses, subdomain or not.  Here's an example of what we see from OWA:

So to test this I randomly pick a message in OWA, hit reply, type something and then click another message.
