Outlook 2013 set cached mode "Mail to keep offline" to All for existing Outlook profiles via GPO or registry changes

$

We recently migrated from Office 2010 to Office 2013.  An annoying change is Outlook's "Use Cached Exchange Mode" setting that changes the previous setting of all email to partial email based on how old emails are.  This is confusing for end users because if they have a 1GB mailbox size limit and they look at the properties of their mailbox, it shows the cached amount which is always then less than the full amount.  While they have a 1GB limit, the properties of their mailbox might say 700MB because that's all that is cached, but meanwhile they can't send because they are actually over 1GB on the server side.

I want to set this cache setting to "All" for EXISTING profiles and new profiles.  I think I can do it with GPO for new profiles, but I don't see a way to set it for existing profiles.  I assume I have to do this with a registry setting.

The File you're attaching is bigger than the server allows

I have two separate clients running Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013 with the same issue. Neither can attach large attachments. I set the message size in the send connector to unlimited. But when I try to add large attachments it says "The File you're attaching is bigger than the server allows." I also increased all the receive connectors to 100mb to see if that would help and it didn't have an effect. There is also no message size restriction on the test account either. I also went and added the registry edit to remove any size restrictions for Outlook but that did not help either. I have been unable to find what in Exchange 2013 is causing this.

Hi,

I have a single user that is unable to log into the Outlook Web App. All browsers are affected and return the following error:

:-(

something went wrong

An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled.

X-OWA-Error: System.ArgumentNullException

X-OWA-Version: 15.0.995.28

X-FEServer: MAIL01-001

X-BEServer: MAIL01-001

Date: 1/13/2015 10:18:13 PM

Initially, the user had an issue with setting his Time Zone. After I fixed it through the Exchange Powershell, this error appeared. It doesn't really give me much information. Can someone please advise? Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks,

meeting request notifications deleted for delegates

$

This is kind of a strange situation - so I'll do my best to describe it accurately.

We have an Exchange 2013 environment with Outlook 2010 clients. We have one user with a number of delegates. When he sends out a meeting request and gets replies, those notifications arrive in the inboxes of all the delegates. (As is sent under Account Settings -> Delegate Access -> Deliver meeting requests addressed to me ... "My delegates only, but send a copy of meeting requests and responses to me"

Recently, an unusual phenomenon has begun occurring. A certain time after the meeting request was sent out, and also after the recipients replied, the delegates will receive a bulk of responses all at once (responses that they had received earlier). Those responses will appear briefly in the inbox, but then move to the Deleted Items. If the delegates try to open those responses, they get the message "the item has been moved or deleted".

"Delete meeting requests and notifications from Inbox after responding" is marked in Options -> Mail.

Any idea what could be causing this? Has anyone ever seen anything similar? Could a smartphone that syncs with the mailbox possibly be causing this problem?

Two Exchange email accounts in Outlook - one doesn't send correctly

Hello. I currently have two Exchange email accounts added to my Outlook 2010.  The second email is shared by a fellow coworker.  Since I added the second account, I've received synchronization errors in my Unread folder.  Normally, I've ignored these as there wasn't any actual functionality errors with Outlook.

Once in a blue moon though, the sync errors stop and I'm no longer able to email from/as that second email.  Instead, it simply gets stuck in the Outbox where it never actually goes through.  In the past, I've done a mish-mash of using the Repair Tool on both OST files and clearing offline items for both Inboxes.

I was never actually sure if either of the above methods was the actual fix but Outlook eventually let me send emails again from the second account (and once more resuming the flow of synchronization errors).  Now though, it seems like neither of those remedies actually work anymore.

I've searched online to no avail of what might be the cause of this.  Is anyone familiar with what might be going on?  I'm guessing part of the issue is because the second email is shared between two people and across multiple devices?

GPO for Caching Email - Outlook 2013

I have just set up a GPO for Outlook 2013 that allows us to limit the "Use Cached Exchange Mode" in Outlook 2013.
We currently have it limited to 6 months. The users have no choice in the matter; but we want to give the users a couple of options.  Is there a way to give the users the option to choose between 0 to 12 months but remove (or gray out) the 24 month and ALL as options?

How to open a local client archive .ost file on a new computer

$

Hello,

We use Exchange 2010 Standard and Outlook 2013. I got a new computer and made a copy of my email archive that was being stored on my Windows 8 computer under c:\users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook .  Now I want to open the archive to look for an old message.  Outlook 2013 won't open the file.

Error, "The file you chose is not an Outlook Data File. You must select a new file of this type."

Outlook 2013; File Menu; Open & Export; Open Outlook Data File - that will open the file browse window with the file type of Outlook Data Files listed.  To show the archive, I had to change it to All Files.  The file extension is hidden, but the details of it show the Type is "Outlook Data File".  If I try to open it, I get the error above.  Looking at the properties of the file, it is an .OST Outlook Data File.

I know that Outlook wants to open a .PST file, but I need to open an .OST file.  The Exchange Server did not change.  The network user did not change.  The only thing that changed was the old computer was removed from Active Directory and the New Computer was added - and the network user properties was updated to the new computer.

How do I get access to my archive?

Thank you!

Certificate warning on CAS IP address when starting Outlook

$

My costumer is getting a certificate warning when they are starting Outlook. The certificate warning is a "standard"
Security alert where its possible to click Yes, No or View Certificate. The Exchange 2010 CAS IP address is what the alert is about. Not autodiscover.domain.com or mail.domain.com or any other namespace.

I have checked all Virtual directories on CAS, and all are configured with a namespace that exists in the certificate.

IP address is not listed in the SAN of the certificate, ofcourse if I may say that.. The certificate is valid and not expired.

In Connection status in Outlook, i don’t see any IP addresses listed in Proxy Server or Server Name Field.

Any pointers on where to look in Outlook for finding out why Outlook is connecting to CAS IP address would be highly appreciated.

slow online mode "browsing"

Hi there,

Currently my configuration is exchange 2013 CU3 with windows 2012 server (fully patched and up to date)

my issue is with internal network slow outlook clients working with online mode (long delays when going from one message to another)

OWA mail browse is very fast though with no delays what so ever (IE8/9/10/11/Chrome)

I know that Microsoft recommend working with cache mode, but sometimes cache mode is not applicable like Terminal servers environment.

is there any way to improve online mode speeds? (exchange 2010/7 has not delays with outlook internal clients)

any ideas??

Thanks Ahead

ToDo Bar Missing Items with 30 Day Cache

$

Hi all,

We have had a issue with a number of users on Outlook 2013 set with a local cache of 30 days. After a local move request of the users mailbox the task list and to do bar is missing a large number of items.

switches to /resettodobar and removing the to do bar folder via MFCMAPI also failed to resolve the issue.

Users are either expanding the local cache or switching to online mode.

These results appear to be in contrary to  KB2733062 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2733062/en-au

Note This setting does not affect the number of items synchronized with folders of the following types:
  • Calendar
  • Contacts
  • Tasks
  • Journal
  • Notes
  • Outbox
  • Shared or delegated

on-premise vs office365 email sig

We use a logon script to populate email signatures on on-premise email accounts. It adds username, company, address, phone numbers and company web site addresses.

Now that we are migrating accounts to online exchange we find that the signatures are gone. I'd prefer not to rely on 700 people to add their own signatures because we have a standard format and users will inevitably make up their own formats.

Is there any way to either integrate the logon script to the online accounts?

I have pasted the script we use on-premise below.

Dim filesys, demofolder, demofolder2
Dim strUser,strName,strTitle,strdepartment,strMail,strPhone,strFax,strOther,strMobile

http 400 - bad request

The setup is as follows

Windows Server 2012 R2 running Exchange 2013 CU5 - CAS Role
Windows Server 2012 R2 Running Exchange 2013 CU5 - Mailbox Role
Published via Web Application Proxy, using ADFS on Server 2012 R2

The problem

Browse to https://webmail.contoso.com/owa - log into OWA as myself this works fine - try and open another users mailbox that i have full access to, i get HTTP 400 bad request

If i browse to https://servername and perform the same procedure it works.   This leave me to the conclusion that the Web Application Proxy server / ADFS server is at fault

this KB article is not relevant in this instance, as I can resolve the names correctly;http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2770796/en-au

Any suggestions

Thank you.

Oracle Workflow Mailer dies with "unable to connect to mail store"

Our Oracle workflow mailer uses IMAP to connect to exchange. It was working fine on our exchange 2010 server but we have since migrated to 2013.  I have matched the IMAP settings from the 2010 server and am able to telnet to 143.  The Oracle WF Mailer runs for awhile then dies with the error "unable to connect to mail store".  On the exchange server in the IMAP logs I occasionally see: login, cxprdwf *****,"R=""A1 NO LOGIN failed."";Msg=Proxy:***EMAILSERVERNAME**:9933:SSL;ErrMsg=ProxyTimeout:PreAuthTimeout".

The Oracle wf mailer runs on Oracle Applications R12. Exchange is 2013 Build 995.29 (I think that's CU6?)

Thanks!

Random message "The microsoft exchange administrator has made changes that requires you quit and restart Outlook"

$

Hello everyone,

I have read a lot of subject on technet forums and others but I don't find the solution to my issue.

So I explain my problem:

I have 2 different clients with Exchange Server 2013 Standard installed on a Windows Server 2012 Standard that have the message that ask to restart outlook. I try to install SP1 on one of my client but without success. So I let the second one in CU3.

The message appears on Outlook 2013 and 2010. Some have cache enabled and other not.

I try to recreate profile, change different settings, delete OST file and recreate it, enable and disable cache,...

There is no cluster, no load balancing and no replication between different exchange servers.

This message appeared without I make changes. (It started approximately at the same time for the 2 clients).

I have other client in the same configuration that has not this message.

Thank you in advance
