Can not save new contact in OWA 2013 - Exchange CU7 Update.

$

Problem:

After updating to Exchange 2013 CU7 I receive an error message stating:  "The contact can't be saved right now. Please try again later.

Product Affected:

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumalitive Update 7 with Outlook Web App 2013.

Steps to reproduce the problem:

  1. Open OWA
  2. Go to People tab
  3. Add a new contact without adding an email address.

Notes:

  • The contact does actually appear to be added, but in some cases is unable to be searched for using search bar.  The error message: "An error occurred while searching. Please try again later." appears in the search result pane.
  • If an email address is entered the contact is saved without warning
  • I have tested on two separate servers in separate domains.
  • It does not appear to happen on previous versions of Exchange 2013.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a fix?

meeting request notifications deleted for delegates

$

This is kind of a strange situation - so I'll do my best to describe it accurately.

We have an Exchange 2013 environment with Outlook 2010 clients. We have one user with a number of delegates. When he sends out a meeting request and gets replies, those notifications arrive in the inboxes of all the delegates. (As is sent under Account Settings -> Delegate Access -> Deliver meeting requests addressed to me ... "My delegates only, but send a copy of meeting requests and responses to me"

Recently, an unusual phenomenon has begun occurring. A certain time after the meeting request was sent out, and also after the recipients replied, the delegates will receive a bulk of responses all at once (responses that they had received earlier). Those responses will appear briefly in the inbox, but then move to the Deleted Items. If the delegates try to open those responses, they get the message "the item has been moved or deleted".

"Delete meeting requests and notifications from Inbox after responding" is marked in Options -> Mail.

Any idea what could be causing this? Has anyone ever seen anything similar? Could a smartphone that syncs with the mailbox possibly be causing this problem?

How to configure OWA to not require credentials when the user logs in?

We run Exchange 2010. We would like internal users to be able to log on to OWA without providing username and password. External users who are not on the corporate network should still see the normal forms based authentication login.

Could you please tell me how to do this?

Thanks!

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found when opening automatic reply setting in OWA

Hello,

I have a problem with a mailbox. The mailbox is delegated by a few users. When I log on in OWA with my user, which has full access to the mailbox in question, and I use the option 'open anoter mailbox' and type in the mailbox I get connected to it.

But when I try to set automatic reply option it gives me a page with HTTP error404.0 - Not Found.

Detailed Error Information:

Module   IIS Web Core
Notification   MapRequestHandler
Handler   StaticFile
Error Code

   0x80070002

Requested URL   https://*:444/ecp/'e-mail'/?owaparam=modurl%3D0&p=organize/AutomaticReplies.slab
Physical Path   C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\ecp\e-mail\
Logon Method   Negotiate
Logon User   domain\name-exchange-server$

Now if I enter the requested URL internaly (not from remote location) I get the automatic reply page.

Anyone knows what could be the problem? Also the options change password & manage apps give the same error page.

Outlook 2011/365 connectivity to Exchange 2010

Hey Everybody,

I'm running into a little bit of jam with Outlook 2011/365 from my Mac population to Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 8 v2. I have read many articles and discussion forums regarding the issues with SSL and TLS connectivity. I have verified that my windows host with Outlook are just fine in setup and use of the Exchange server.

The Mac systems are having the issues. Autodiscover is working ok and IPhone/Ipad configure just fine. We really only have two, so this is why it was a surprise.

If I browse to the EWS directory it is just a blank page receive from any browser on the Mac's.

  • What is the issue with Outlook 2011 and 365 connecting to a exchange system during configuration?
  • Would joining the Mac's to the domain make a difference?
  • With Poodle being one of the most recent risks, what should Mac user be configured as to not bring a security risk to the rest of the environment.
  • Is reseting the virtual directories a possible action or is the most common issue just SSL and TLS compatibility?
  • Is there anyways around this without having to turn on basic security  on EWS and fall back to SSL instead of TLS?
  • What is the best ways of testing connectivity with logging other then just seeing the error 17997 from Outlook on the Mac.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Tips?

Thanks,

Matthew

I have a gmail account that I have setup as IMAP account to synchronise with my Outlook program on my Laptop.  I have cancelled my gmail account but keep getting login requests in my outlook environment for the gmail account every 2 seconds.  How do I disable the login requests but I still want to keep the "old" gmail files/ mails in my outlook environment for review?  Thanks!

Outlook password prompt after CU7 installation

Hi

I have Exchange 2013 in a resource forest. We use linked mailboxes.
The clients are connecting using Outlook Anywhere.
As Authentication we use NTLM.

This Weekend I installed CU7. This morning all users received a passwort prompt when starting outlook. After entering the password, Outlook can be closed and restarted again without a password prompt. But after a reboot of the client, the password prompt comes again.

Any Suggestion?

Certificat SSL renew and internal FQDN trouble

$

Hi everyone,

Since all Certificate Authorities (CAs) that are connected to the overall CA/Browser Forum have accepted worldwide renewed and improved guidelines for the issuance of a SAN SSL Certificate. Domain validated certificates may therefore no longer be issued on an invalid Fully-Qualified Domain Name (eg .local)

Here is the official link of this change: http://www.networking4all.com/en/ssl+certificates/faq/change+san+issue/

Can you tell me how do you deal with it?
We have 1 Exchange 2007 server using SSL certificate (expiring soon) using 2 external FQND domains (mydomain.fr and mydomain.com) and also 2 internal FQDN domains (myexchangeserv.local and myexchangeserv). My certificat authority (TBS Comodoo) warns me that if i renew my certificat, my two internal FQDN will no more works for all my exchange users...

What should i do? What did you do to resolve this new change on SSL certifications and Exchange access (internal and OWA) ?
If i renew my certificate without my 2 internal FQDN, will my users have trouble using Outlook or Owa access?

Thanks for your help on this,

Best

But, after this steps for removing https on my url i can use it. and after loggin in https mode i can delete https on my url manually but did't work good and i get this error when i want see my email body "Error: Your request can't be completed right now. Please try again later."

outlook is working on VLAN but not working on other VALNS

First of all thanks in advance.

here is the scenario :-

(1) 03 VLANS in the network. all VLANS are connected through core L3 switch. No ACLs in L3 switch.

      VLAN 101-192.168.1.0/24

      VLAN 102 - 192.168.2.0/24

     VLAN 103- 192.168.3.0/24

(2) EXCHANGE server 2007 is installed on VLAN 101. (all roles are installed on same server)

(3)  no firewall is configured in network

(4) Network is not connected to Internet.

now my problem is that

(1) outlook Clients in VALN 102 and VALN 103 is not connection (showing exchange server not available). whereas OWA is working fine. user able to send and receive the mails.

(2) all outlook clients on VALN 101 is working fine.

Thanks

http 400 - bad request

The setup is as follows

Windows Server 2012 R2 running Exchange 2013 CU5 - CAS Role
Windows Server 2012 R2 Running Exchange 2013 CU5 - Mailbox Role
Published via Web Application Proxy, using ADFS on Server 2012 R2

The problem

Browse to https://webmail.contoso.com/owa - log into OWA as myself this works fine - try and open another users mailbox that i have full access to, i get HTTP 400 bad request

If i browse to https://servername and perform the same procedure it works.   This leave me to the conclusion that the Web Application Proxy server / ADFS server is at fault

this KB article is not relevant in this instance, as I can resolve the names correctly;http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2770796/en-au

Any suggestions

Thank you.

Stop OWA from redirecting to HTTPS

I need to offload OWA/ECP/ActiveSync SSL to the load balancer.

I have completed all the steps in the offload process here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn635115%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

I have removed the "Require SSL" in IIS on the Default Website and all virtual directories.

I have changed the URL within the Exchange settings to HTTP://owa.contoso.com/owa /ECP and so on.

I have verified I have no redirects within IIS.

If I load HTTP://owa.contoso.com/owa I'm sent to https://owa.contoso.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=http%3a%2f%2fowa.contoso.com%2fowa%2f

I can manually change this to http://owa.contoso.com/owa/auth/logon.aspx?replaceCurrent=1&url=http%3a%2f%2fowa.contoso.com%2fowa%2f and it send me to https://owa.contoso.com/owa/#path=/mail

For the F5 to work I need to have HTTPS terminated at the F5 and HTTP between the F5 and Exchange servers.

I am testing this directly against the Exchange servers with no load balancer in the mix yet.  What am I missing here?!?

ToDo Bar Missing Items with 30 Day Cache

$

Hi all,

We have had a issue with a number of users on Outlook 2013 set with a local cache of 30 days. After a local move request of the users mailbox the task list and to do bar is missing a large number of items.

switches to /resettodobar and removing the to do bar folder via MFCMAPI also failed to resolve the issue.

Users are either expanding the local cache or switching to online mode.

These results appear to be in contrary to  KB2733062 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2733062/en-au

Note This setting does not affect the number of items synchronized with folders of the following types:
  • Calendar
  • Contacts
  • Tasks
  • Journal
  • Notes
  • Outbox
  • Shared or delegated

Updating Outlook after Exchange smtp domain change

$

Hello. Our company is changing email domain (ie from olddomain.com to newdomain.com). The Exchange side is fully configured and I can setup brand new Outlook profiles/accounts without any problems. I am having issues reconfiguring existing Outlook profiles.

a. Outlook doesn't seem to automatically update the Outlook username with the new domain. I changed default email address (in EMC) for my test user (from @olddomain.com to newdomain.com) but the Exchange settings in Outlook still look like this:

Is this by design? Shouldn't it update automatically? Am I doing something wrong?

b. I decided to reconfigure the account manually. I went in [Control Panel > Mail > ... > Exchange Account Settings], changed the username from user@olddomain.com to user@newdomain.com and did a [Check Name]. The account resolved properly and on the surface everything seems to be working fine. However the Outlook Credentials popup looks like this:

So although I have changed the account settings and they properly resolved to the new domain, in the background Outlook still thinks @olddomain.com. I have also confirmed that the account (still) uses the olddomain autodiscover. This last part is the real problem b/c we cannot keep the old autodiscover around.

Any ideas why this behavior? Is there a way to update Outlook without recreating the profile? We run Outlook 2010 on Exhange 2010 (both apps with latest & greatest SP/patches).

Much thanks! :-)

Sign Out of OWA not working, Non-Domain Joined Computer

$

Hello All,

I am having a problem where users cannot successfully log out of OWA while using non-domain joined computers. If they select "Log Off" from the OWA menu, they get prompted to close the browser. After re-opening the browser, it automatically signs them back in. I have search this site and found many articles discussing it but nothing with a real solution. Most offer up changing to "Forms Based Authentication", but that is not an option. Windows Authentication shouldn't work anyway for non-joined computers? Also, I have checked "Credentials Manager" in control panel and verified no credentials are stored.

If I clear cookies within IE, it successfully logs me off and I am required to re-authenticate when I open IE back up. This is not an option for 3k plus users.

Exchange 2013 online mode - hard deleting items from search folders cause reconnect

$

Hello!

I have recently deployed Exchange 2013 in a co-existence scenario with Exchange 2007 and everything is working pretty good. I am now preparing to move ~5000 users to Exchange 2013 in coming weeks.

I have one issue which i can't work around and it has to do with Outlook running in Online mode and deletions in a search folder view. i.e. "Unread email" folder

If i delete an email message from a search folder I get an error message saying the "item could not be deleted. it might already been moved or you do not have access." After that message the item is deleted normally but at the same time the Outlook client reconnects (displays "trying to connect" briefly in the lower right)

This happens in Outlook 2007-2010-2013 in Online mode.

In cached mode it works normally, but this is not an option since we want to run online mode on our large terminal server farm.

things I have tried

- Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 with latest updates and hotfixes I could find

- I have bypassed our load balancer and it the behaviour is the same.  - New mailboxes created on EX2013 - same behaviour

- Client OS does not seem to matter.

It's not a critical problem, but I guess we will get questions from the users that actively uses these folders.

brief environment config:

Servers: Exchange 2013 SP1: 3 x CAS, 4 MBX on Windows Server 2012 - latest updates everything.

Clients: Outlook 2007-2013, latest updates. Running on Windows Server 2008 R2 mainly.

Any input welcome!

Exchange 2013 and public folders via Outlook Anywhere not visible

$

Hi

Recently migrated from exchange 2003 to exchange 2013 using a staging exchange 2010 server . Most things went well and starting to think about removing the staging server - however there is one issue that i cannot resolve, External users with Outlook 2010 or above accessing the new server cannot see any public folders visible in the folder view in outlook. Internal users can see the public folders and access them ok. This is a single namespace and server environment for exchange, so the external name matches the internal name (via split dns). Logging an external user onto an internal pc - they can view and access the public folders ok. Public folders are visible via OWA.

External outlook users have been configured to use outlook anywhere for accessing their mailboxes.

The public folders have all been migrated to the new server and the old PF's locked out.

What am i missing ?

Exchange Server 2007 external autodiscover not working

Dears

I need help to resolve my autodiscover issue externally. Internally everything works fine like auto discover, free-busy, out of office etc.

Our Exchange is 2007 CCR clustered with one CAS and HUB server (both in one) and 2 mailbox servers (active & passive) with a mail gateway appliance instead of Edge Server.

Externally nothing of the above are working but Outlook Anywhere is working and more number of uses are working without any issue. For all these users who connected with Outlook-Anywhere they cannot see free-busy, out of office etc.

Please let me know how I can check the settings for internal and external settings and what all details need to be provided for external autodiscover through cmdlet or GUI.
