Exchange 2013 and Demoted Domain Controllers

$

0

Hello,

I recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. I am in the process of demoting old domain controllers (Server 2008 R2) and have shutdown the domain controllers for testing purposes. Upon shutting down, a few users are not able to sign in and sign out OWA successfully. Here are the related errors in the Event Viewer and the troubleshooting steps I have done so far.

Event Viewer Logs

1. MSExchange ADAccess (Event ID 4112)

"Process Microsoft.Exchange.EdgeSyncSvc.exe (PID=2376). AD Session operation failed on DC dc2.domain.com because this server is not suitable at the moment. DomainController value set on the session instance: dc.domain.com. ServerSettings updated: False"

2. OWA: "A server that contains information about your user account and mailbox is not available".

3. OWA: An Active Directory error 0x51 occurred when trying to check the suitability of server ‘dc2.domain.com. Error: ‘Active directory response: The LDAP server is unavailable.’

Troubleshooting

1. Set the preferred Global Catalog to new DC (Server 2012 R2).

2. Set the StaticExcludedDomainControllers to exclude the old DC.

3. Set the StaticDomainControllers to new DC for LDAP (Server 2012 R2).

I would really appreciate if anyone can share their experiences who have come across a similar issue.

Thanks,

Sathish

We are having some problems in Exchange when customers send us emails with large attachments. It doesn't happen all the time which is weird.

The emails show up fine on iPhones although it is very slow to show the whole email and attachment.

In OWA it gives an error - Error: Your request cannot be completed right now. Please try again later.

The emails never make it to our computer email program, Mac Outlook 2011

Outlook Client - Proxy settings reset

hello, I am working on enabling Outlook Anywhere on our exchange server. Well it already is enabled. Problem is we configure a client to use outlook anywhere connect using only ssl and use basic authentication but all the proxy setting reset after they reboot or disconnect.

I think there is a setting I need to set on the exchange server such as so the auto-config doesn't override the settings;
Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName:msstd:*.yourdomain.com

When i do a get-outlookprovider here are the results.

Can someone kindly confirm my assumptions. Our primary admin is our on maternity leave so... ikes!

Connect Outlook outside corpnet though HTTP and ARR failed with Service Unavailable

I have IIS ARR deployed for connections outside corpnet, everything  (Exchange 2013 Autodiscover,OWA, ActiveSync, Sharepoint 2013,LYNC 2013 ... etc) works fine , except Outlook connection through ARR.

IIS ARR gives service unavailable on Failed Trace Log and outlook disconnect after some timeout.

Would anyone know any clue?

Server Administrator has Limited the Number of Items You Can Open Simultaneously

Over the weekend, we moved all of our room mailboxes over to Exchange. For users who have lots of room calendars open in their Outlook clients, they are getting the error message "Cannot Open the free/busy information. You Server Administrator has Limited the Number of Items You Can Open Simultaneously" after the migration from Exchange 2010.

Restarting the Outlook client temporary fixes the problem, but the problem comes back after they access the calendars again.

The users impacted deal with a lot of room scheduling, so they have 30+ room calendars open in their Outlook clients.

I have tried setting up a throttling policy with unlimited RCA connections, but that didn't help.

I have seen with Exchange 2010 there were some registry keys people were setting on the server that pretty much makes everybody have unlimited connections, but that isn't ideal if's only affecting a few people.

Outlook cannot connect over VPN after SSL cert renew from .local to .com

I have
Exchange 2010 and just renewed my SSL certificate on the server. As you may be
aware that .local name is no longer valid/accepted for new certificate issue. <o:p></o:p>

https://www.digicert.com/ssl-support/redirect-internal-exchange-san-names.htm<o:p></o:p>

I have
change the SAN names on the certificate, meaning I have just removed the server.domain.local
name and rest is the same. Certificate has been installed and in the beginning
we receive certificate mismatch security alert error message but that has been
sorted now. BUT remote users cannot connect to exchange server over VPN. They
are keep being prompted for username and password. <o:p></o:p>

I have
tried this https://www.networking4all.com/en/support/ssl+certificates/manuals/microsoft/exchange+2010/modify+.local/<o:p></o:p>

Tool from
Digicert https://www.digicert.com/internal-domain-name-tool.htm
Internal user are working fine without any problem but external user have
problem connecting. <o:p></o:p>

I have
tried the Authentication method to Basic/Negotiate unchecking the box "Only Connect to proxy server that have this principle
name in their certificate". I have deleted any cached username password,
nothing is working. Try to add new account over VPN and no luck.
<o:p></o:p>

Exchange Server 2010 OWA Error 405 StaticFileModule

$

I am running Exchange Server 2010(Version 14.1 - Build 218.15) on Windows Server 2008 R2. This is a all-in-one-server roles installation. Everything is working fine except forms-based authentication. When enabled I get HTTP Error 405.0 "Method not allowed". The page you are looking for cannot be displayed because an invalid method (HTTP verb) is being used.

Details are:

Module StaticFileModule
Notification ExecuteRequestHandler
Handler StaticFile
Error Code 0x80070001
Requested URL https://localhost:443/owa/auth/owaauth.dll
Physical Path C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\owa\auth\owaauth.dll
Logon Method Basic
Logon User administrator

When in EMC, Client Access, on OWA & ECP tabs I change authentication forms-based to standard with basic check box and restart IIS the Web Access works fine.

I have already tested solutions like recreating Virtual Directories, Allow .Net 2.0, etc. I have also checked all the modules and the associated mappings in IIS one by one for every VM. I believe this is an error in a .config file. If you have encountered a situation like this please help.

Outlook not resolving server 2013 but works when I add "DS Server" to registry

$

I am having a major headache trying to troubleshoot this issue.

My environment has an exchange 2010 server installed and running fine. We just installed Exchange 2013 in a coexistence situation (after upgrading 2010 to the SP3 RU5 etc) and migrated a few test mailboxes (mine included) before we do the full migration.
Setting up Outlook happens correctly. Autodiscover works and it resolves the name of the mailbox automatically and I get the correct guid@domain.fqdn (cant post images until im verified)

If I have to manually set up a mailbox (manual exchange connection) if I type in exch2010.fqdn it resolves to the mailbox correctly no matter which server or database it resides on.
|If I type in exch2013.fqdn I get the following error (action cannot be completed, the connection to Microsoft exchange is unavailable)

The only way to resolve this is to edit the registry HKCU\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider and add a string DS Server and point it to either of our 2 DCs (both are GCs). Doing so allows me to enter the exchange2013 fqdn and it resolves but not to the GUID but to the fqdn of the server.

Troubleshooting

I have spent days (if not weeks) trying to figure out why this is happening. DCDIAG gives me perfect results, DNS has been cleared of all the old name servers (there were still pointers of very old DCs showing as name servers in a few places but that has been thoroughly cleaned. replication is working fine, I have scoured event viewer of both DCs and both exchange servers and nothing stands out as relating to any errors.

Reason I need this resolved

The main reason for needing this resolved is that our ArchiveManager (mail archiver) is unable to log into any of the mailboxes on the new Exchange 2013 server (needs to do so in order to sort through the mail within each mailbox). There is no problem when accessing any mailbox on the 2010 server.

Cannot access another users mailbox via OWA 2013

Hello

I have just migrated a few users from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

If I try and access their mailboxes via OWA 2013 using "open another users mailbox" I receive the following error:

:-(
something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.AccessDeniedException X-OWA-Version: 15.0.995.28 X-FEServer: EX2013 X-BEServer: EX2013.company.local Date: 07/11/2014 11:23:46

I can still access any mailbox on a 2010 server via the same method.

Can anyone assist in resolving this issue please?

Internal OWA not working on 3 of 6 Exchange 2013 servers.

$

Hey guys

I have 6 Exchange 2013 servers, all of them multirole. The 3 in my eastern datacentre work when accessing OWA internally, yet the three in my western datacentre do not. They all use the same SAN certificate with the correct subject names. They all use identical authentication (integrated). When attempting to fix I have tried the following without improvement:

- change auth

- change cert

- remove owa front end site, create new front end site

When I hit the OWA page, I'm prompted for authentication (same for all servers, but I would have thought integrated would not do this). When I enter my credentials, I go instantly to the below screen.

Your help, as always, would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Joe

External outlook clients can't connect to Exchange 2013

Currently running server 2012 r2 and exchange 2013 sp1...

Internally everything works fine, clients can also connect externally to owa/ecp. However when using an outlook client they are unable to connect. This is my first experience with exchange 2013 so I am at a loss. What steps should I be following to get this working properly? Or if anyone has some suggestions to get more information I can do that as well.

Thanks!

Connecting from a mobile-phone using mail.mail.com works fine.

We are using a self-signed certificate for testing purposes..

Outlook /OWA apps not working

Hi all

I have just finished installing a production exchange 2013 install with one CAS and one MBX. All functions are working well OWA works internally and externally and users that are still on exchange 2007 are being transferred over to the old OWA when they log in. The problem that I have now is that the Outlook apps are not working in outlook 2013 or OWA.

Bing maps and Action item either fail to load or I get Navigation to this webpage was canceled. If I hit the refresh the page link I get there was a problem with this websites security cert. If I then click continue I get a 404 cant find page.

This happens to all users that have been moved over the the ex2013 server.

I have a feeling this is an internal url problem as I think the cert being sent is for the private cert and not the public cert

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance

Outlook is unable to connect to the proxy server.(Error Code 10)

Hi,

I had problems with RPC proxy, I was trying to setup cutover migration.

So I read somewhere that i need to change the certprincipalname with Set-Outlookprovider.
But after this change my outlook was not working anymore

The settings before the change were:

Name                          Server                        CertPrincipalName             TTL
----                          ------                        -----------------             ---
EXCH                                                                                     1
EXPR                                                                                     1
WEB                                                                                      1

So I set this back to the original (above) but this didn't helped...

Outlook error: "problem with the proxy server's security certificate"

So frustrated.  I have tried to fix this error for a week now.  The infrastructure for the site is Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 migrated from a SBS 2003 installation with an invalid TLD, .local.  I have created pin point dns entries for mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com which are the valid certificate names and the hosts can ping both and it resolves to the internal address.  Strange you can navigate to owa and it doesn't throw a certificate error.  Also changed all the internal urls to the external urls to match the certificate.  Still no luck.  I'm following this article,http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/exchange-server-2010/mobility-client-access/using-pinpoint-dns-zones-exchange-2010.html, to resolve the issue but believe there is something I'm missing.  If we could add the domain.local address to the cert that would solve it but we can't.  I need a solution.  Any advice would be helpful.

TIA,

Chris

Exchange 2013 CU3 pop3 smtp connection issue

It is a weird POP3 connection behaviour for outlook connectivity

We have 2 x MBX in DAG and 2 x CAS servers in HA load balancing

POP3 enabled users when configured in outlook at certain times get password prompt and this sometimes continues upto 30 minutes , outlook connection is set to POP3 port 995 to use SSl and smtp port 587 to use TLS on same external url

at sametime ping and telnet request get connected but outlook does not

People and Tasks pages stuck on loading in OWA - other settings not working

Single Exchange 2013 CU6 on Server 2012 R2 in coexistence with Exchange 2007 during migration.

Having a problem with OWA on Exchange 2013. When clicking on the People or Tasks tab they never load just say loading. Also unable to enter certain settings from the settings menu like Change Theme, Display Settings, Offline Settings; the browser doesn't do anything when those links are clicked. Composing an email in HTML doesn't work either; unable to type in the email body (no cursor or Font Styles bar) and changing to Plain Text allows user to type in the email body. This behavior is the same across IE11, Chrome 38, Firefox, Safari. Seems to be a problem with OWA premium as OWA light on an XP machine with IE8 doesn't have any of the above problems. OWA works fine in Exchange 2013 CU4 in our lab environment.

Thanks for any suggestions as I am banging my head against the wall with this.

Useraccount problem

I run Windows Server R2 Foundation with AD and Remote Desktop.

I had two users... U1 and U2. Both users got a Office 365 account and Microsoft Exchange email.

Office 365 installed on server so they can run Remote Desktop and check email. They also had laptop with Office 365 and connected to same Exchange-server.

Ther´s three email account: u1@mydomain.com, u2@mydomain.com and company@mydomain.com.

From U1 I would see U1, U2 and company-email on my remote desktoped server. From U2 I only want to see U2 and company-email on my server with Remote Desktop.

When I setup U1 it´s working fine. with all three accounts When I setup U2 Outlook says ther´s no emailaccount for u2@mydomain.com, same account that works fine for U1.

Is this a Exchange "role" issue or a Windows 2008-server role issue? Is there any workaround to solve this little problem on my server? Two diffrent profile with Office 365, so both can see company email via remote desktop.

Both account had same grouppolicies and setup in the AD.

I know ther´s not the normal way, but U1 would work this way... with remote desktop direct on the server.
