Out of office replies in Exchange 2013 not working for external recipients

Hi,

Few days ago a couple of company workers went to vacation. They set up OOF automatic replies in OWA 2013. However automatic replies are not working for external recipients (outside of company). Internal users (company users) receive OOF notification.

I'm using smart host in sender connector configuration (SMTP server of internet provider) to deliver emails. Any clues about this problem ? Please find below part of the transaction log. For testing purposes i set up administrator account to be on vacation.

Inbox Shows Unread Messages - Cannot Find Them

$

The mailbox for reception.admin is accessed by several other people and all have the same problem - the mailbox shows unread emails but I cannot find them anywhere.

  • I have searched for them
  • I have applied a filter to only show unread
  • I have gone manually through the Inbox
  • I have checked AntiVirus plugins (we use McAfee) and this is not conflicting
  • I have given myself full permissions to the mailbox - happens to all users who have access to this Mailbox
  • I have checked access rights and all users have full rights to the mailbox
  • Nothing on whitelist/blacklist for the Exchange
  • Happens on OWA webmail as well as Outlook
  • Have tried recreating the mailbox and same issue

If I log on as the user reception.admin and start Outlook, I can see the emails in question. I just can't see them from mailbox shares

  • The mails that are blocked are from different senders
  • Some emails from these senders (for e.g. Administrator) come through and are fully visible

Can anybody help me out please? Currently comparing the problem emails to see what they have in common.

Many thanks

Provider changed and now I cannot connect to my email

$

Hi

I have Office 365 for a private domain/mail and I recently changed from Microsoft to GoDaddy

Therefore, I needed to re-configure the mail account, but that seems to be very difficult at the end I deleted the old account and is now trying to create a new, however now I cannot connect to the new Office 365 provider.

I key in my name and mail address, and then Outlook tries to find the server/configuration, but that process fails.

I have a brand new Surface Pro 3, and there I can connect and get my emails, so it has nothing to do with the network, credentials.

Somehow, Outlook seems to 'remember' something from the old settings

Any hints on how to make it work ?

Kind regards

Steen

Is there a way to Determine\Report Client Type Connected to OWA\Exchange

All,

As a part of our path to POODLE remediation, I've been tasked with trying to determine browser types\versions that connect to our OWA. For instance, I need connection information that notes date\time browser and version. Is that possible, if so where can I get the instructions to review and pass along?

Thanks.

Outlook archive disappeared since moving to 2013

Hi there,

We recently moved from a Windows 2008 R2/Office 2010 remote desktop environment, over to Windows 2012/Office 2013. We are now getting an issue for the majority of users where they cannot see any archive folders. This includes their own archive as well as archives for shared mailboxes, for which they have full access permissions.

Has anyone come across this issue, or have any suggestions?

Other information:

* We are running Exchange 2010 Enterprise

* All installations of Outlook 2013 are Pro Plus - volume License

* The recalled update KB 2881011 is not installed on any of these servers

* We have tried removing then re-adding the account in Outlook

* We have checked that the Outlook account is setup in Online mode

* We have tested with a new user account

* If we go back into the old TS environment, the Archive is still present

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Outlook not resolving server 2013 but works when I add "DS Server" to registry

$

I am having a major headache trying to troubleshoot this issue.

My environment has an exchange 2010 server installed and running fine. We just installed Exchange 2013 in a coexistence situation (after upgrading 2010 to the SP3 RU5 etc) and migrated a few test mailboxes (mine included) before we do the full migration.
Setting up Outlook happens correctly. Autodiscover works and it resolves the name of the mailbox automatically and I get the correct guid@domain.fqdn (cant post images until im verified)

If I have to manually set up a mailbox (manual exchange connection) if I type in exch2010.fqdn it resolves to the mailbox correctly no matter which server or database it resides on.
|If I type in exch2013.fqdn I get the following error (action cannot be completed, the connection to Microsoft exchange is unavailable)

The only way to resolve this is to edit the registry HKCU\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider and add a string DS Server and point it to either of our 2 DCs (both are GCs). Doing so allows me to enter the exchange2013 fqdn and it resolves but not to the GUID but to the fqdn of the server.

Troubleshooting

I have spent days (if not weeks) trying to figure out why this is happening. DCDIAG gives me perfect results, DNS has been cleared of all the old name servers (there were still pointers of very old DCs showing as name servers in a few places but that has been thoroughly cleaned. replication is working fine, I have scoured event viewer of both DCs and both exchange servers and nothing stands out as relating to any errors.

Reason I need this resolved

The main reason for needing this resolved is that our ArchiveManager (mail archiver) is unable to log into any of the mailboxes on the new Exchange 2013 server (needs to do so in order to sort through the mail within each mailbox). There is no problem when accessing any mailbox on the 2010 server.

Default Outlook Anywhere Connections

$

I'm using an Exchange 2013 SP1 environment with almost no customization. Only 2 servers exists - one holding CAS+MBX, and a second one being an MBX. No DAGs, balancers, etc. Mapi over HTTP is not enabled. The default self-signed certificates are used (no new certificate was installed, nor any self-signed certificate manually installed on any server/client). A mailbox is provisioned on a database located on the first server. Outlook is configured for the corresponding user on a client machine and started. Everything works just fine, with the 'Outlook Connection status' window showing 2 Exchange Directory + 2 Exchange Mail connections. Authentication is NTLM. Ports for all 4 connections are 6001 - which hint that Outlook Anywhere is indeed used.

From time to time, the familiar "Security Alert" comes up warning about the self-signed certificate, but this is usually traced in my experience to the various services Outlook is using, that are running on HTTPS (OAB, EWS, Availability...).

Here we find that in Exchange 2013 "Outlook Anywhere is enabled by default, because all Outlook connectivity takes place via Outlook Anywhere". Thenhere it's stated that "Outlook Anywhere won't work with a self-signed certificate on the Client Access server". I remember the latter being true against Exchange 2010 instances, but seems not to be the case in Exchange 2013 anymore. Unless I'm missing something, from the standpoint of a default installation, the 2 articles contradict each other.

Second issue - even though Outlook is set for "Negotiate" in its Security setting, it looks like the Kerberos preferred option is never chosen. Would it have to do with the self-signed certificate and Outlook Anywhere ?

Search results for Online Archive Limited to 250 results

We are running Office 365 Pro Plus with Exchange 2013 CU4 on premise (nothing in the cloud).  When searching the Online Archive (with instant search or Advanced Find) within Outlook the results are limited to 250 items.  This is frustrating to people because we have email going back to 2006 so they are expecting many more results.   I understand the need to balance performance, but why is there not a way to override this limit?  I have searched but have been unable find a way - please let me know if one exists.

Thank you, Jeff

Outlook 2013 SP1 MAPI over HTTP performance issue non-cached mode, mail stuck outbox

$

Logged into a terminal server so we do not want cached mode.  We had been using RPC/HTTPS previously and it seemed to work pretty well.  After upgrading to SP1 and enabling the MAPI/HTTP connection and performing the app pool config changed in the release notes we are still seeing performance issues.  One issue that happens often is sent mail will stick in the Outbox.  If we restart outlook, edit the message and such and resend it will eventually work but if users are not looking for this it may never be sent.  Another issue is there are times where the client will hang for half a minute or so when trying to open e-mails from popup notifications, sometimes failing and causing us to have to retry after which it succeeds.  CAS server has 12GB RAM and is using less than half of it; not seeing high CPU utilization either.  Connections appear to be fine when looking at the Status in Outlook with only 1 or 2 failed requests, and average responses of about 40-50.  It reports build is 15.0.847.30 which doesn't seem to be the most current.

E-mails bouncing between categories in main inbox

$

We have an Exchange account, where there is 5 categories in the main inbox.

We use these to label e-mails where action has been taken, for example.

Users accessing the account from Outlook 2013, has a problem where mail "bounce" back, when trying to move them to another category.

The mails moves, stays for about 7 sec. in the right category, and then jumps back to where it was dragged from.

It happens periodically. What is going on?

Any help is very appreciated!

Note: I am not talking about folders, but categories.

OWA & Outlook Anywhere problem

Hi,

For several months I did my migrationfrom  Exchange 2010 to  2013 (CU4)
Currently I work with Exchange Server 2013 and 2007 (in coexistence mode).
Since migrating my Exchange 2010 to 2013, customers who still have mailboxes on Exchange 2007 encounters problems in Outlook anywhere that become non-functional (prior to Exchange 2010 migration to the 2013 Outlook Anywhere works correctly for mailboxes located on Exchange 2007), and another more serious problem is that some users on my Exchange 2007 when he opened their mailboxes through OWA are randomly in switched to other accounts so that access to other messages which is a very serious breach of security for our customers !!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have an idea about these two issues please ? !!!!

Unable to access OWA or ECP. - "Something went wrong" or "500 unexpected error"

Our environment consist of 3 client access servers with 8 mailbox servers.  I recently installed windows updates on all of the servers.  Now when a user tries to access OWA it fails and says "Something went wrong" when I try to access ECP I receive "500 unexpected error"

I have tried building a new CAS and mailbox servers with the default settings but it still fails.  I did not install the latest Windows updates on the new servers.  I tried creating new databases with new users and it also fails.

There are also these ASP.NET 4.0.30319.0 warnings showing in the application log:

Confused about versions with OWA

$

Does OWA have versions?    I can't see how a web app could be different for different users.  But with Office, maybe that axiom does not hold true.

Actual issue:  My OWA look and feel is totally different than my boss's.  For example, I was telling him it is so easy to Share his calendar, just click the arrow next to "Share", but he doesn't have a Share button.  I shared my calendar with him and in my Sent folder the sharing email shows a clickable Add This Calendar.  His received email doesn't have that.  I explored his Options tab and it looks quite different from my Options tab.  His whole UI just looks a bit older and not as slick as mine.   He also doesn't seem to have the ability to click on email addresses to add them to contacts.  They look like just plain text.  I don't have access to screenshots now.

At work I have Office 2013 and at home I have Office 2007 and my OWA is the same in both scenarios.  He probably has Office 2013 too, but I can't see why that has anything to do with our significant OWA UI differences.

Is some other software contributing to his lack of OWA functionality?  We obviously use the same exchange server.

outlook contact cannot display correctly from outside

Hi,

After migrate our exchange server from 2007 to 2013, the "contact" address display name cannot show correctly. They will show the original sender config display name such as their own format [Firstname, Lastname]. If the address already in contact list, we will expert it show more detail such as company name, department name in email address display name such as [First Last companyname]. Which is our Exchange 2007 server doing before.

Any idea to fix it?

Thanks,

Edmond

It is a weird POP3 connection behaviour for outlook connectivity

We have 2 x MBX in DAG and 2 x CAS servers in HA load balancing

POP3 enabled users when configured in outlook at certain times get password prompt and this sometimes continues upto 30 minutes , outlook connection is set to POP3 port 995 to use SSl and smtp port 587 to use TLS on same external url

at sametime ping and telnet request get connected but outlook does not
