Can't change my display name in Outlook 2010

$

Hi,

I'm trying to change my display name (recently married) in Outlook 2010. I looked up how to do it, and it seems easy enough, but when I get to Account Settings and click on "Change", the only thing that shows up is my server info. There's no User Information, name, etc for me to change. I'm not sure if there's a problem with administrator rights or why I can't edit it? When I go into Outlook Express to try to change it there, I can get to the Edit window, but it won't allow me to actually type/edit the information.

Thanks for your help!

Katie

Secondary Exchange 2010 Server Deployment: Unable to configure new user on new MDB via Outlook and unable to access OWA

Greeting,

We have a single AD Domain with one Exchange 2010 (EXCH1) internet facing server across the globe in UK with MBX,CAS,HUB & Transport role and I just deployed a secondary Exchange 2010 (EXCH2) with same role with same service pack and rollup level in the US. I created a new MDB on (EXCH2) and created a new user with mail address within the EMC to (EXCH2). All users on EXCH1 access OWA via external URL:https://owa.mycompany.com/owa . After creating the new user on EXCH2, I am unable to gain access to the mailbox via that external URL. However, if I access the internal URL of (EXCH2) viahttps://servername/owa I can gain access just fine. I'm unable to send e-mails internally as well from that user to other users on the other exchange server. Is there some sort of configuration setting or connectors I need to setup to have both boxes communicate and redirect appropriately in the CAS configuration? I'm unable to setup the user via Outlook 2013 as well with autodiscovery, it will not authenticate the user.

OWA error via external URL:

A server configuration change is temporarily preventing access to your account.
Please close all Web browser windows and try again in a few minutes. If the
problem continues, contact your helpdesk.

The ultimate goal is to migrate users from EXCH1 to EXCH2 mailboxes and later on upgrade to EXCHANGE 2013. I could not find any good articles as far as installing a secondary Exchange 2010 server since most articles states that it would be an easy install and everything should work just fine with minimal configuration changes. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

OWA Password reset via UPN

I need to know if Exchange 2013 SP1 (15.0.847.32) supports password resets via the users UPN when a user's password has expired when they log in to OWA.  This was a feature that was added to Exchange 2010 SP1 in rollup 3 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2464564). I'm able to login to OWA with their UPN but upon being presented with the password reset screen the user has to use DOMAIN\Username rather than their UPN (email address).

Without this feature I can't see how hosting providers can simplify the users experience when they are resetting their passwords.  I would prefer not for the user to have to remember their AD logon name, I just want my users to have to remember their email address.

Exchange 2010 -> 2013 Migration - Outlook fails to load new mailboxes - "The set of folders cannot be opened .... "

We are currently migrating from an exchange 2010 cluster with 2 servers (all roles) to a new 2013 cluster (all roles). Prior to moving production mailboxes over, we started testing 2013 by adding dummy mailboxes and running access tests. What we found is that OWA, Active-Sync work fine ... Outlook Anywhere does not.

While starting Outlook for the first time after adding an account, Outlook fires out:

"Cannot start microsoft outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your outlook file (.ost)."

Non-Cached:

"Cannot start microsoft outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. etehr there are network problems or the exchange server is down for maintenance"

After spending a day on the web trying to source out the cause, here's what we know:

- YES - A properly signed certificate is applied and correctly assigned to appropriate services and IIS is restarted on both
- YES - OWA/Active-Sync work correctly without any certificate issues
- YES - Outlook Anywhere settings for internal/external hostnames are set to match the SSL Certificate
- YES - Outlook Anywhere authentication is set to forms based with NTLM (and clients match)
- YES - MAPIBlockOutlookRpcHttp is set to $false on all accounts
- YES - MAPIEnabled is set to $true on all accounts
- YES - Accounts are quickly resolved and added to outlook (issues is only on Outlook startup)
- YES - Cached vs Non-cached mode both fail
- YES - Exchange 2010 accounts work fine
- YES - This Affects Outlook 2013 and 2010 clients

Interestingly:

- If we access 2010 mailboxes through 2013 cas, no issues
- If we access 2010 mailboxes through 2010, no issues
- If we access 2013 mailboxes through 2013 cas, issues
- If we access 2013 mailboxes through 2010, issues

Would really appreciate a few suggestions, no idea what is causing this.

Sometimes Outlook forgets saved password

Hi all,

I have a problem with saved passwords in Outlook (2010 and 2013 connected to Exchange 2013). A client sometimes loses its password. I used to have similar problems in our LAN. I resolved it with this article http://searchexchange.techtarget.com/answer/Four-reasons-why-Outlook-passwords-are-not-being-saved. But now we have several remote users (connected to our server). And this guide doesn't help anymore. I can start Outlook in a remote location three or four times and everything is ok. But after several attempts it loses its credentials. Are there another problems with saved passwords?

Problem with Imap

In one fresh install of Exchange 2013 with Windows 2012 I have problem with 19 clients that have Access in one mailbox via Imap. Some of this clients(randomly) sometimes, have problem with authorization.

I make this change ttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff477612%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx in registry

and put Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User   30

and in ecp Servers->"ServerName"->Imap4->More Options...-> Maximum connections from a single user: I put 30 but with no luck

Unable to Share Outlook Task Folder

I am able to share my task folder with one other office worker. But three others I've tried cannot accept the sharing offer. The button in the sharing message to open/accept the share is grayed out for them. After I send the offer, I can see these individual listed in the Properties-->Permissions tab and confirm they have been given at least Read permissions. I've also made sure that I've only shared the task folder with one individual at a time in case the folder can only be shared with one person at a time (althought that doesn't sound like a reasonable constraint to enforce).

We all have the same setup: Windows 7, Office 2010, using Microsoft Exchange Server. At least one of the three individuals was able to share their task folder with me.

This question was first posted to Outlook.com and was advised to move it to Office.

Moved post to Office and advised to move it to ExchangesrvClients.

Sharing Calendars

My partner and I work for different organisations.  Both organisations have their own domain names and both use Exchange Servers.  Up until April this year we shared our respective calenders, live, using Internet Subscription.  That functionality is gone.

I have tried in vain to get it back using Outlook.com.  Using this option I can share an ical file but it is not live.

We are both using Outlook 2013 as part of MS Office.  We are not using Office 365 and neither of our Employers have any plans to go down that route soon.

I can't believe the functionality is gone.  Tell me I am being a numpty, the functionality is still there and the solution is...?

PS if it helps, we just need read only access to the others calendar but want to see it sitting beside our own calendar in Outlook 2013.

Outlook Anywhere can't Connect to Exchange

$

Background: We are use Windows Server 2003R2, Exchange 07 and Outlook 10/13, We have setup ABC.com for the AD domain and setup email. It works and functional in both OWA & Outlook Anywhere in branch office. Later setup another domain XYZ.com in same exchange server. Both email domain are workable in using OWA & Outlook Anywhere in branch office. (Can't use VPN)

Because of company issue, the ABC.com has change the Name Server and will point to other IP address. The pervious setting in branch office for Outlook as below:

Server: exchange.abc.com

Exchange Proxy: htps://mail.abc.com

Exchange Server Public IP: 202.xxx.23.2

For all using outlook email @XYZ.com that can't connect to server, but OWA is workable. They can typehttps://mail.xyz.com/owa or https://202.xxx.23.2/owa to login to exchange server for send & receive email. And Ive use a stupid method to temporary fix this issue for using Outlook, we have add "mail.abc.com  202.xxx.23.2" & "exchange.abc.com 192.168.1.200" to local PC host file. Then it can connect to exchange by Outlook.

But this not the best way, because it can't work on iPhone, iPad & Android mobile device.

Please suggest the best way to fixed this issue for long-term running. Thousand Thanks.

Connecting Outlook 2010 to 365 account

$

Hello

In an attempt to clean up my outlook 2010 information, I attempted to uninstall and reinstall MS Office 2010.   My reasoning was to try to get outlook to run more efficiently.  In doing so I have completely botched up my Outlook, and now have no access to anything.   To try to resolve I attempted to remove each account, I have an account for my small business that is on Office 365, which I am able to connect to online just fine.  I also have a corporate exchange account that I connect into for one of my business clients.  Since that didnt work, I tried to use the  mail profile to reconnect but that doesn't work.

Here are the steps I am attempting.

Mail - New Profile

Add new profile

Add my email account to the profile, manually configure for MS Exchange.

Server name: mydomain.com

User name: myuser

Next

Outlook hangs for a while, then give a message: The Action cannot be completed.  The connections to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks

Outlook 2013 says "You cannot add to the server junk email list- you are over the size allowed."

$

I keep getting the above  message over and over. Then it asks "do you want to manage the junk mail lists".  Of course I have tried that many times with no success.  One particular email continues to show up with a reminder- when I try to "snooze" the warning, it tells me that the message cannot be found.

In addition, sometimes if I try to view a subfolder other than the inbox, when I return to the inbox, I find a "shadow" group of emails that are about 4 months old. If I click on any of the messages, the program tells me the message cannot be found on the servers.

When I close the program and re-start it, the legitimate inbox re-appears.

It's incredibly annoying, but I am hoping that I can get rid of it without deleting and re installing outlook 2013.  I have not tried to re-install the profile- was hoping there would be an easier way.

Public Folders

Will public folders change in Exchange 2013?  And will the Exchange Administrators have to completely remove all exsisting folders or put them in a conversion process to move them to a regular databases which will then subject them to the companys size restriction policies and essentially convert them into the same thing as what is called "shared mailboxes"?

Maintain focus on email message when navigating to journal & back

I was referred to this forum from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/maintain-focus-on-email-message-when-navigating-to/1b678cc1-4e17-46d9-b726-620bc9b0d141

I have my email grouped by category and sorted by date.  Whenever, I navigate to Outlook Journal and back to email, the focus shifts to the bottom most message.  I shift back an forth millions of times a day, and it is getting maddening having to pan back to the messages of interest (not to mention the time that takes).  I see this as a handicap in the Outlook app with very real costs.  Is there any way to maintain focus on the same message when navigating away from email and back?  I don't want to open separate windows for Journal and email because I'm already trying to avoid being overwhelmed by windows.
