Outlook Anywhere prompt for password

$

Hi,

I have an Exchange 2010 server that I help to manage.  We use Outlook 2010 - Outlook Anywhere connections in the office.   The Exchange server is actually off site, so I have my clients setup to cache a local copy of their Outlook for performance reasons.  We use basic authentication.

I have one mailbox that is having password issues.   Sometimes (not always) when the user opens Outlook, the password prompt will come up (even though we choose to save the passwords).   Usually when this happens the password entered will not work; however, after waiting a period of time, (between 5-20 minutes), the Outlook client will finally be allowed to login.  This is happening for the same mailbox on two different machines.  I have several users in the office who share mailboxes like this (usually Directors and their assistants) but none of them have had the same issue.   At first I though that one of the two computers might be kicking the other out.  I went into credential manager on both machines (within minutes of each other) can cleared the passwords from the vault.   This worked for a short period of time, but usually within a day or two the issue comes back.   The fact that it will eventually work is confusing.   Both are using stable network connections, so not sure what the problem might be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Outlook 2007 HTML font size changes after sending

$

On a Domain Computer running Windows 7, Outlook 2007, connected to Exchange 2007, when sending embedded HTML from Outlook the font size gets shrunk before delivery and when it appears in the sent mail box. The original font size in the HTML code is 8.5 but after delivery it appears as 6. It also appears as 6 in my sent mail folder. It appears to be an isolated case with this one host computer on our domain.

Has anyone else had this issue and/or know how to solve it please?

Additional: after logging in on another domain acct on the same computer I have come to find out that outlook does not change the font size of the HTML. The issue seems to be isolated to just this particular user, on just this host computer. Possible button mash?

Is it possible to modify the workflow of OWA Login ?

Hello,

Im employed by a little compagny in Security and we want to know if its possible to modify the workflow of the login in outlook web access. For example : We want to change the process to do this :

User login informations ------> System authenticate a user in LDAP -----> Custom page that ask a question or put a captcha -------> Our service validate the response and return something -----------> if response ok continue to the standard process of OWA.

We need to modify the process in order to ask something to the user and analyse the response, this will provide good security about non human tries.

Thanks ,

Chris.

2013 OWA, can I revert back to 2010 look, and no public folders?

So, I've got a client that wanted exchange for shared calendars. So, the powers that be ordered exchange 2013 and server 2012.

They get the software, turn it over to me for implimentation, and of course, I run into a bunch of show stopping issues.

First, since EX2013 no longer supports outlook 2003, my client is in a bind. 75% of his staff uses OUtlook 2003. So, he figured he'd just make the staff start using Outlook Web Access. He hates the look of the 2013 OWA. He wants the 2010 look, and for some friggin reason, the 2010 look pulls up on the Android clients. So, we know it is there. How do you make that the default for desktop browers (IE, firefox, chrome, etc)?

Second, shared calendars in the public folders. No access to PF in 2013 OWA? Are you kidding me? Does MS really want exchange 2013 to be another MS Vista? This cannot be true. If so, I have to cancel this project, hopefully have a successful uninstall of EX2013, and go with Ex 2010.

Help me anyone.

Outlook 2010 shared calendar: could not be updated message

I'm running an Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012. The clients use Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. For every user mailbox i've set the access rights for their calendar folder to User: Standard AccessRights: Reviewer

If i display more than 6 shared calendars, every newly displayed calendar shows the "could not be updated" message. There is no difference in what shared calendars i open. After i close Outlook and open it again i can select up to 6 shared calendars again (even those, that showed the "could not be updated message" before)

By running netstat -n in the command prompt i've noticed that for every shared calendar that is added in Outlook two more tcp connections to the port 443 of the Exchange server are established. When i initially start Outlook i've got 4 tcp connections to the exchange server. After displaying 6 shared calendars i've got in total 16 tcp connections to the exchange server. If i add one more shared calendar there are no additional tcp connections opened and the message "could not be updated" is displayed.

I turned on Logging in Outlook, examined the logfiles and found an XML response from the Exchange Webservice with the <ResponseCode>ErrorNoFreeBusyAccess</ResponseCode>

It looks like as soon as the maximum tcp connections from the client to the exchange web-server is reached Outlook communicates through an existing connection which results in an Error.

Any help appreciated

Not to junk mail or anywhere else in my files that I can find ?  If I can catch any detail before it disapears, I can 'search' ( Left hand bottom,) and it will find the email but I cannot tell where it was ?  Any help will be greatly apreciated.

How to synch Domain controlled Exchange account and hosted Exchange account to the cloud without secure login

I have 2 main calendars, one is a domain controlled Exchange account for Microsoft, as I am a vendor. The second is a hosted Exchange account on 1and1.com. I need to have my calendar viewable by my joint venture partners. Is there a way to sync this to the cloud. I do not have to have to have people put in user names and passwords.

Thank you for your time.

Recovering deleted folders from Deleted Items in Outlook 2003

I’m hoping someone here can provide some guidance re: recovering deleted e-mails from Outlook 2003.

My company recently let someone go, and evidently shortly before that happened this person deleted a large number of e-mail folders from her Inbox.

Now when I access her mailbox via Outlook (2003) I see numerous mail folders listed in her Deleted Items folder, but all of them are empty even though each folder should contain lots of messages.

I’ve tried the “recover deleted items” procedure for the top-level Deleted Items folder, but as expected, that just brought back the stuff from when the Deleted Items folder was last emptied, which isn’t useful to me. After the recover deleted items process, the aforementioned deleted folders are still there, and still empty. Recover Deleted Items is not an available option when I select any of the deleted subfolders.

What are my options to find and recover the contents of the deleted folders?  I’ve got Exchange 2010 with a configured retention time of 30 days, presumably I should be able to recover the messages from the live mailbox and not have to resort to restoring a backup and extracting and earlier version of her mailbox.

Thanks,

Joe

dmz OWA minus TMG?

$

since TMG/ISA is being retired, has microsoft published any guidance on recommended new ways to expose exchange to the internet? it doesn't seem like there's been much improvement in this area for the past few releases of exchange: if you aren't using TMG, you have to open a ton of ports between an OWA server on the DMZ and the exchange/AD backend. some security teams don't like to open tons of ports. i would have thought by now there would be a new method, maybe an internal exchange "proxy" so we could just open one or two ports (SSL?) in the firewall between the dmz and that proxy, and the proxy would do all the RPC, GC, etc. communicating to the internal backend exchange and AD on all the random ports.

Collect outlook/owa/activesync usage?

$

Hi,

Is there any way of collecting information about the usage for all users in the org?

I know there is a Outlook Profile Analyzer or what its called but that only collects information about a particular user right?

I would like to know how may users are using outlook anywhere, how many are using owa, active sync.

Like concurrent users and how much each user sends and receives so one can get a good picture of this.

Maybe perfmon can help abit with its counters but what is the counter for outlook anywhere called?

Exchange 2010 Conectivity problem in new subnet

I have a windows small business server 2011 that has exchange 2010 running on it.  I have connected a remote site to my local site via ipsec vpn.  The remote site is in a different domain.  I can ping the exchange server just fine and run different server applications across the vpn without problem.  The only thing not working is exchange.

when I try to connect to the exchange server using either the FQDN or IP address it gives me the same error even though I can ping using the FQDN or IP address.  It says "the name cannot be resolved.  The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"

Looking for any help here.
Thanks

Jason

Unable access to reply message body using OWA

We both have our own, personal email accounts through Outlook and they work fine.  She, on the other hand, goes online to get into her Company Email Account (OWA).  This arrangement has worked fine since we got our new PC.

Recently, when trying to reply to a Company email, she got to the reply box and could do anything with the addressee or subject.  She just couldn't get to the body where she would type the reply message. I went over to her user account, got on line and accessed her Company email account and it worked fine.  I just can't find where the problem is and Microsoft want to charge me $100 to fix it with a service contract :-(

Then I logged into her user account and set up a link to her Company account and it works fine?  We just can't reply to her emails while we're in "my" user account as we always have.

Sorry to be such a layman but can you help with any of it?

Thx

p.s. This happens with ALL of her emails in the problem account

Hello,

I have following issue.

Exchange 2013 on a windows 2012.

Outlook 2010 client has cached mode disabled on a windows 7 sp1 or windows xp sp3 or terminal server windows 2008r2.

Some users retrieve also e-mail from a pop3 mail-account into their exchange mailbox.

All e-mail that isn retrieved comes in the mailbox but not as a new message but as a sort of draft. When you click on the message it opens and you see the message as it was a message ready to sent to 'yourself' and all other people in 'To' and 'CC' field.

The issue i'm facing is, OWA works perfectly and mailflow is ok, but the outlook clients can't connect, auto-discovery works well because the establish connection and search for address are check off bu fails on the logon server with a GUIID {GuID@domain.com} as the server name and a mailbox with =SMTP:user@domain.com

I cant figure out what's wrong, I can't enter the server netbios or dns name, I still get server not available
