Require Logon Using Secure Password Authentication does not work with plaintextlogin on the server side

Hi All ;

We are in the middle of a migration Project but we stuck with this pop3 setting. Most of the mailboxes uses pop3 to connect Exchange 2010 with the setting spa + port 110 on the client side. We want to give same authentication options for the pop3 settings on 2013 side but when spa is selected the pop3 rejects the connection with the following error.

Your e-mail server rejected your login with SPA.

So both settings for pop3 protocol is same but the client cannot connect from 2013 server.

Where can i enable this feature from Exchange 2013 .

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Windows 8 Compatibility

Is there a fix or workaround for accessing email via Outlook 2013 (Windows 8) when your company uses Microsoft exchange server 2003 and has not plans on upgrading it any time soon. I am a remote employee so I am the only one that has this problem in the company. I can access email through an owa account but it's a pain. I tried to set up a rule to have all incoming mail forwarded to my gmail account in Outlook 2013, but that did not work. Any other ideas?

Office 365 - All Mac Users are being prompted for passwords from Exchange post OSX Mavericks upgrade

$

Our company is using Office 365. We have half a dozen Apple Mac users who have been running fine using Outlook for Mac 2011 (version 14.3.8). When Apple released OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) most of the users upgraded and since then all of them are seeing the following behavior when Opening Outlook for Mac:

Mail found not be received at this time.

The server for account 'mycompanyname' returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?"

Yes or No

If the user selects "yes" and re-enters the password, the user is prompted a second time for the password. Upon entering the password twice, the authentication is accepted and Outlook for Mac connects to Office 365. However this connection only stays active for about an hour before the error "An unknown error occurred in Outlook"happens, forcing the users to close Outlook and repeat this process.

Note that users are scattered throughout the US, some being in our corporate office, some being at home using ISP provided broadband connections, others finding this behavior happening at various hotels.

I have been searching various Microsoft user groups for any information about why this is happening or how to resolve it, but most of the suggestions are from people who believe the issue is isolated to a single machine so the advice turns into client side troubleshooting for a specific machine.

Any insight on why this is happening?

Some users get blank OWA page after logon

$

Hello all,

I have the following strange issue:

Some, but not all of our users have issues opening OWA. After logging in, the web page stays blank.

In IIS on the CAS server, I see a HTTP 500 error. On the MBX server, I see the following error (multiple times) at exact the moment the user logs on:

Event 65, MSExchange OWA

An error occurred while the Outlook Web App configuration settings were being loaded. Virtual directory: "owa". Web site: "Exchange Back End".
Error message:
"An IIS directory entry couldn't be created. The error message is Access is denied.
. HResult = -2147024891"

The users do not have other issues. Mail syncs perfectly in Outlook (2013) and on mobile devices.

Environment: Exchange 2013 SP1 (2x CAS servers, load balanced, 3x MBX servers in a DAG).

How can I troubleshoot this?

Regards,

Stephan van der Plas

Exchange 2013 SP1: create an Inbox rule based on a mail contact group membership

$

Exchange 2013 SP1.

We have to exchange information with external users in the Internet. Addresses of those recipients are created in our Exchange organization as mail contacts. About 30 distribution groups containing those contacts are created in the Exchange organization as well. Our users are able to successfully send messages to the external users using those distribution lists.

Our users need to sort incoming replies and put them to different folders basing on the distribution group memgership. If the sender is a malbox inside the organization, it's simple. We just create an Inbox rule which checks the sender's group membership and moves the message to an appropriate folder. However, it doesn't work if the sender is outside the organization, even if there is a mail contact corresponding to the external sender's e-mail address.

The department in question has several hundred external users sending messages from the Internet, so sorting the messages manually is a difficult task. The department's users have to find out to what distribution group the sender's address belongs, and only then move it to an appropriate folder. Is there a way to automate this procedure?

exchange 2013 Sp1 some users cant access owa

After I install new exchange 2013 with sp1 on windows 2012 R2 server one for mail boxes and the second Client Access, i move all mail boxes to it, then i uninstall  the old server (exchange 213 with cu3).
All may exchange server’s virtual machines on hyper-v 2012R2
I install certificate and configure virtual directories
I notice some users can’t open there mail boxes from OWA they get a blank page after the enter username and password (from internal and external) (the same users can open outlook anywhere) at the same times many users can access owa.
After many restarts they can access OWA.
After some days some other users can’t access owa.
I remove ECP and OWA virtual directories, Then Recreate and configure it.
But the same problem some users cant access owa
I install a new client access server, configure it
But the same problem

Multiple Email Addresses in Outlook

I have 2011 SBS running 2010 Exchange. I have two businesses and receive email at two different email addresses appearing in one Outlook. For example. Michael@abc.com and Michael@123.com will both reach my outlook.  Michael@123.com is my primary email. My Outlook shows both accounts in a drop down, however if I select the secondary and send the email,  I get this reply:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.

Thanks

Anonymous Authentication Custom PRF File

Hi All,

I'll try to make this as simple as possible, I have customized a .prf file using the office customization tool, and made a .bat file that a user can click on, starts outlook and automatically imports the server settings.

My only issue is, with Exchange 2013, the "Logon network security" type needs to be Anonymous Authentication, and am not sure if it is even possible to set/change. I have opened the .prf file in notepad, but can't seem to find anything related.

Here is the .prf file for quick reference:

Unsuspecting 2000 unread email items???

$
0
0

This morning, a user logged on, opened up Outlook and low and behold, 2000 email items with an UNREAD status. Also, found out, another user has the same problem. What could cause this? The only thing I can think of that potentially causes this is a mailbox/database restore or migration. Mailbox migration completed over a month ago and checked with our backup admin and no Exchange restores have been done as of late.

Here's a brief description of our Exchange architecture:

  • Windows 2012 R2 AD domain
  • 8 sites
  • Exchange 2007/2013 coexistence
  • Exchange 2013 DAG extended to two sites: LA, MKE.
  • All Exchange info (mailboxes, public folders) migrated to Exchange 2013 DAG
  • Near decommissioning Exchange 2007 boxes.
  • Users in question plagued with UNREAD email items one in LA and other in MKE. Occurrence for LA site user once and MKE user is frequent.
Thoughts????

IE11 and Exchange 2010 automatic reply unavailable

After fixing the main problem with IE11 where it would only run OWA light it seemed we had it all under control, but...

Whether RollUp3 for SP3 caused this error or if there is another bug that this roll up did not fix I do not know but... When our students (or me for that matter) use IE11 to go to options and try to set the automatic reply we get a blank screen below the top bar with the three buttons. Using IE10 or Firefox does not cause any problems, just using IE11.

Any one know if this is a "known problem" Microsoft is working on? Our students are using the Dutch language in OWA in case that may be relevant.

ps. Sory for posting this in the Exchange 2013 forum, it seems the interface only alows me to select Exchange 2013 fora.

It then tells me to "Click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection".

I then follow the prompts but to no avail.

Please help me!? Everything works fine on my personal windows 7 laptop - but not on my new work owned Surface Pro 2!

Office 365 Password expiration policy Set to Never Expire not working

I would like our password expiration policy set to "Never Expire". I am very familiar with powershell and have followed the guidelines here:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-suite-help/set-up-user-passwords-to-never-expire-HA102816049.aspx

When I run:

Get-MSOLUser | Select UserPrincipalName, PasswordNeverExpires

all users are set to True.

However, today we had another user get prompted to reset his password again today. Please advise how to fix this issue so that our user's passwords never expire. Thank you.

Outlook 2013 / Outlook 365 crashes after SP1 when opening email

$

Hi,

I already posted this question in the Outlook forum but was referred to this one because I am connecting to Exchange servers:

I have a frustrating issue with Outlook 2013 (Work)/ Outlook 365 (Home) after the installation of Office Service Pack 1. Outlook starts fine and shows the Outlook Today screen. As soon as I go to my inbox and Outlook wants to show the preview of the first email it crashes. The switch /NoPreview lets me go to my inbox but then Outlook crashes when I try to open an email (any email).

Outlook runs fine in Safe Mode so I tried to uninstall / disable Add Ins (set LoadBehavior to 0 in the registry). No success.

At work I could fix the issue by uninstalling SP1. But at home Office fails to roll back to a version before SP1 (integratedoffice.exe REPAIRUI RERUNMODE version xxxxxxxxxx). It says I must be online (which I am, of course). Reinstalling didn't help either.

Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 Bit (Work), Windows 7 Business, 64 Bit (Home). Office 32 Bit.

Company hosted Exchange Server 2010 (Work), 3rd party hosted Exchange account 2013 (Home), Outlook.com account (Home).

Creating a new profile with only the Outlook.com account did not fix the issue.

Outlook Product Stability Diagnostic and OfficeCAT could not find anything. So I don't know what to do anymore. Please help.

Thanks and kind regards,

iBlueDragon

PS: At home I fixed the issue by reinstalling my notebook with Windows 8.1. Now Outlook is running fine again. But still no solution for work.

Office Web Apps Integration in a Test Environment

I am trying to test Office Web Apps in an Exchange 2013 test environment and therefore have setup my farm for HTTP only.  I have set the WAC Discovery End Point on the Exchange server and I can browse to the XML successfully however when I preview files they are still being displayed using Web-Ready Document Viewer.  I have checked the Event Log and found event ids 140 and 141.

Event 141 lists the following error - There was a failure connecting to or otherwise retrieving Data from the Wac Discovery Service. We will fall back to stellent. Successfully retrieved configuration data from http://server01/hosting/discovery, but retrieved discovery xml does not contain an external https net zone node.

Do I need to configure HTTPS with a certificate in order to get this working in a test environment or should it work with HTTP?

Thanks

I had designed a outlook form with a UI having few text boxes for user inputs. Once user enter the details and click on send button, data from text boxes are captured and converted into xml and send to recipient.

The form is working fine, for a single user. But when the same Is deployed on Exchange server, it is not working to all users of organization. Although UI interface is visible but the code attached to the form is not executing.

The form is published in Organizational library Folder on server.

New-WebServicesVirtualDirectory Failing on Second Site

Hi There

Got an odd error when I'm trying to setup a second website to publish OWA externally. I run:

new-webservicesvirtualdirectory -Websitename "PublicEx" -ExternalURL "https://x.x.x.x/EWS/Exchange.asmx" -Role ClientAccess -verbose -server casserver.mydomain.local

and get back An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual Directory. I enabled the IIS-Configuration Administrative Event log and am getting

An error has occurred: Unrecognized configuration path 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/PublicEx'

An error has occurred: Unrecognized configuration path 'MACHINE/WEBROOT/APPHOST/PublicEx/EWS'

This has persisted over 2 complete re-installs of the server and was present in 2013, 2013 Cu3 and 2013SP1 and everytime I have tried it on the other cas server I get the same issue.

Has anyone run into this, or know of a fix for it? Thanks in advance for any help.

James
