Exchange 2013 with CU3 and silent redirection to different AD site (different namespace- localized)

Hello,

i googled and googled for solution but can't find anything on this matter.

When we had Exchange 2010 with latest update (still exists during migration) and we had 3 datacenters with CAS servers all facing Internet with different name and it was silently redirecting:

europe.domain.com

america.domain.com

canada.domain.com

asia.domain.com

mail.domain.com (this one was for generic purposes and if user is in different AD site it would silently redirect to correct hostname).

Now i have Exchange 2013 with latest updates and receiving error as in picture.

When i click on link, of course it works after second authentication:

first one at generic name: mail.domain.com and second one when i go to canada.domain.com.

All external and internal host names are good. We are using split DNS so they are the same, but each datacenter has it's own name.

Hopefully someone will help with some hint because it is quite anoying.

All other stuff works good, Outlook anywhere, autodiscover, only this remained.

Thanks in advance,

Ivica

Outlook Calendar Sharing Problem

Hello, I am trying to share my calendar with a co-worker. We both work in a remote office using the same exchange server at our corporate office. Every time I try to share my calendar at any level an error message pops up, "Error while preparing to send sharing message." No further instructions or options are given to fix the problem. I have MS Outlook 2010. My co-worker has MS Outlook 2013.

Please help me figure out how to share my calendar.

Constant password prompts for Outlook 2011 MAC clients who migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

Hello,

So we migrated 153 users from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. Coexistance is still in place for a few test mailboxes, however, I have 12 users out of the 153 who are constantly getting password prompts. The user infrastructure is all MAC based clients using Outlook 2011.

Troubleshooting:

  • Autodiscover: Originally, I thought it was misconfiguration but all of the values are identical to the Exchange 2007 server and have verified all virtual directory authentication values are the same. I would think if there was an issue with virtual directory configuration it would be more widespread.
  • Outlook 2011 client: I have tried both manual and auto configuration within the client and get the same result. I've tried changing the username format to just john.smith@domain.com, domain\john.smith@domain.com, and just AD username, but still get authentication failures. I have tried to set up one of the problem accounts on a different MAC that the user has never logged onto and get same result. I have deleted the keychains entirely from the MAC device and reset the passwords to match the AD account and get same result.
  • OWA: These users have no issue logging into OWA to send and receive mail.
  • Windows Based Outlook 2010 client: I have logged into a Windows server with some of the problem accounts and Autodiscover and authentication works successfully without a glitch. The account is created successfully and have left the client idle for long durations with no authentication pop-ups.

At this point I am thinking it's related to the MAC based client, however, my experience with MAC clients is limited so I am hoping someone with more knowledge can provide some advice on other steps to try or where to look. Other thoughts are that security settings for these AD accounts may be causing authentication issues somehow and may be something I've overlooked. Also, could this be more related to the keychains? As I mentioned, I completely deleted the keychains and reset the password to match the AD account to which I was currently logged onto, which was the Administrator account rather than the user I was trying to troubleshoot.

Please help by sharing your experience, ideas, and any other troubleshooting steps I can perform.

Thanks!
Kristopher L.

Exchange 2013 - Not allowing password reset in owa

Hi,

I am running two Exchange 2013 servers on CU3.

The issue I'm having is that when a users password expires it doesn't prompt them to change it in OWA, so they can't log in via OWA at all and they get this message.

The user name or password you entered isn't correct. Try entering it again.

But if I log on to a network machine it prompts me to change the password. Any thoughts on this? I'm almost 100% sure it was working before the upgrade to CU3. Is there an option that needs enabling to allow users to change their password in OWA? (At log on, not in the settings menu, as I can't get that far when the password has expired)

Thanks

Exchange 2013 CU3 - 0x80040115 on Windows XP Clients Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 - Multiple Mailboxes

$

We started to experience 0x80040115 on Windows XP Clients with Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 since the upgrade to Exchange 2013 CU3 (on CU2 v2 we didn't experience it).

We also found the following: if we create a new profile/delete the ost file, Outlook works for a few hours, if we close additional mailboxes, the issue disappears.

Is it a known bug?

Thanks,

Simone

Forwarding Calendar Issues

It seems that we are running into some issues with ActiveSync. Forwarded calendar appointments do not seem to be appearing on calendars with devices that have ActiveSync setup. We previously had "Good for Enterprise" installed and they seems to work fine with that. We are using exchange 2010. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks.

New Mail Notification (Envelope icon in taskbar) does not go away

$

I have Office 2013 on Windows 7 and have noticed the following behavior in Outlook:
- New mail arrives in my Inbox
- Envelope icon appears on the Outlook icon in the taskbar
I now read the email on another device
- The email is automatically marked as read on the first machine
- The envelope icon persists in the taskbar
The only way to get rid of the icon is to either toggle a mail from read to unread and back to read or if I get another email and read it on the machine that has the icon

This behavior causes a lot of false positives when reading emails on two machines.

Note: I raised this issue on the MS community forums and they were able to reproduce it. I have added the link below. I am posting it here based on feedback I received there.

Cannot book meeting after workhour

Hi all,

have co-existence environment with Exchange 2010 ( 2 cas server and 2 mailbox server,so total of 4 servers) and Exchange 2013 (2 servers with both cas and mailbox,so total of 2 servers).

Not sure when problem started, but when try to book meeting after workhours we get error message that we dont have any permission.During workhour it works fine. When book via OWA it works.

We then moved room mailbox from 2010 (the one that didnt work) to exchange 2013 mailbox, and it works.

Why do i get error message/cant book after working hour on the old exchange server?

Have also set work hour start midnight and ends 23.00,but still no help.

There are no check mark for disabling booking after work hours on the room mailbox.

Did the following test: Test-OutlookWebServices -ClientAccessServer "CASServer01",but all was successful.arbitration mailbox for 2010 environment is still on 2010 mailbox.

Our final solution would be to move all room.mailbox to 2013 environment, but would be nice if we could solve this without moving.

Any tips?

Thanks!

Outlook 2007 recurring appointments cannot modify and send update; getting "The Attachment Size Exceeds the Allowable Limit" Error

Hi Expert

I am using Exchange 2007 SP3 with Rollup 11 and outlook 2007 SP3 with Windows 7

Our users is facing this error, i can see on the bottom of the appointment, it has attachment with the same appointment attached.

I googling some information, when a user modify an existing recurring appointment, it will auto attach the orginial appointment in the modified appointment, is it true?

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/2a5d2475-3c23-4326-a9cf-5f15a64147a8/when-one-occurrence-of-a-recurring-meeting-is-modified-the-update-wont-send-due-to-error-the?forum=outlook

i can use MFCMAIP to remove those attachment, but i cannot find any preventive solution for user daily operation for modifiy the recurring appointment

Could you guy help me on this and i would like to know, is it a behaviour of outlook 2007.

Thanks

some sent items aren't being saved in Sent Items folder and have to be recovered from Recover Deleted Items

Some sent items aren't being saved in the Sent Items folder, it is not all sent items just some with no pattern or common denominator. The missing sent items have to be recovered from Recover Deleted Items.

This is across our hosted Exchange platform for multiple hosted clients.

I have tried several different things and checked Archiving settings and Email Settings and everything appears to be normal.

Dear All,

I have got a question regarding OWA accesses for internal employees, my customer has Core Cal/Device Cal licenses to cover all of their workstions. Do they need extra external connector licenses for OWA accesses?

Thank you, Ahmet

The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found.

I manage my principal's email from my Outlook and I had a whole list of rules created for this mailbox a month ago which seemed to be working fine but yesterday when trying to create more, I got an error that says...'The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found.'  The rule I'm attempting to create would have the email moved from his inbox folder into other subfolders in his inbox.  I am using Outlook 2013 and we are on an Exchange Server.

How to edit a text message received in Outlook 2013?

$

I have a user who has configured his phone to automatically forward text messages to his Exchange account.  When he opens the message in Outlook 2013 he'd like to be able to edit the message like he was accustomed to do in Outlook 2003.

For a normal message, of course, he could click on Actions, Edit Message and start editing.  For the text message (SMS) though, the Actions button does not show up.  (Outlook may be using a different form for text messages?)

Forwarding the message to himself is not an acceptable workaround.

Asking users to send messages to his email address instead of his text message phone number is not an acceptable workaround.

Is it possible to edit a text message in Outlook 2013 or would we have to move to an older version of Outlook?

2013 OWA - Open Another Mailbox, :-( something went wrong, Error 500

$

Our client is experiencing an issue where they are not able to open another mailbox even if the user has full access to the account under mailbox delegation.  The user would click on the 'Open Another Mailbox" and they receive the following error

:-(
something went wrong

The URL shows the following:
https://domain.com/owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500

The problem I have is similar to the following post but my client is also behind a UAG 2010 server, and I cannot change to forms based authentication.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/9345d396-b5a6-4d26-a498-7d1539f85d13/exchange-2013-owa-http-500-error-when-opening-another-mailbox?forum=exchangesvrclients

The error within the IIS OWA logs shows as follows.

2014-02-04 17:48:04 10.100.2.10 GET /owa/auth/errorfe.aspx httpCode=500&cafeReqId=f9be7757-b123-4ce1-a585-b9c4ef45cd4b; 443 - 10.100.2.42 Mozilla/5.0+(compatible;+MSIE+10.0;+Windows+NT+6.2;+WOW64;+Trident/6.0) https://domain.com/owa/user@domain.com/?offline=disabled 200 0 0 0

I'm running out of ideas on what could be the issue and but our users will need to manage other mailboxes pretty soon.

Edit:  I should also add that the permissions are correct as the user can connect to the target mailbox via Outlook 2013.

OWA 2013 Redirect to CAS Servers 2010 Randomly

$

Hello there!!

I think my case is not a problem, I just need a workaround or some fine adjustment to serve my needs. Follow my scenario:

  • One Exchange 2013 Server (CU3) with Mailbox and CAS role (coexisting with the 2010 Servers, ready for migration)
  • Two Exchange 2010 CAS Servers SP3 no rollups
  • Two Exchange 2010 Mailbox Servers SP3 no rollups (in a DAG)

I have two organizations who share the same exchange infrastructure, just using different smtp address, for example, some users use @yyy.com addresses and others use @zzz.com. We have two CAS servers just to use two different and customized OWA layouts (with distinct OWA Internet addresses), one for @yyy.com users and other for the @zzz.com users

Also, I have the following database organization:

DB01 - @yyy.com mailboxes - 2010

DB02 - @zzz.com mailboxes - 2010

DB03 - @zzz.com mailboxes - will migrate to 2013

I need to do a partial migration to Exchange 2013, which is to migrate all mailboxes from DB03 database to Exchange 2013,which will use the owa address for the @zzz.com addresses (We will point it to the new 2013 server). The problem is that when users from DB02 try to use the 2013 OWA (@zzz.com), Exchange will bring up one of the 2010 OWA interfaces, sometimes the yyy.com customized interface and sometimes the zzz.com customized interface, and I need them to use just the zzz.com interface.

There is any way that I can force Exchange 2013 to redirect the 2010 OWA users from a specific database to a specific CAS server? I found the command "Set-MailboxDatabase "Database Name" -RpcClientAccessServer EX2010-1.domain.local"", but this work only for internal use (Outlook over RPC)

Best Regards Folks
