Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 shared mailbox problem

Exchange 2010 SP2

Outlook 2010 SP1 32-bit  /  Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

User profile is configured with a primary mail account for each user and a couple of shared email accounts for team work.  When a user sends an email "From" one of the shared accounts, the email is stored in the Sent Items folder of that account.

This is not the desired behavior.  In fact, the default behavior (according to numerous docs I have found, from MS and other sources) is for those emails to go to the Sent Items folder of the sending user - in their primary mailbox.

I can find all kinds of people on the web who want the behavior I am seeing, and they have to make sure a hotfix (or SP1) is installed and then a registry tweak is made.  I have SP1, but have not made that registry tweak, yet it won't put those darned emails where I want.

I have tried removing the profile, deleting the .ost files, rebooting, standing on one leg - I have been totally unable to change the behavior back to what's supposed to be the default.

So, can anyone suggest something?

Thanks.

Outlook Prompts for user credentials

Hello,

I added Exchange 2013 to the existing Exchange 2010 Environment.  Users that were moved to 2013 have to enter their user name and password every time they open Outlook. It happens inside and outside of the firewall.

I think it is related to the certificate, but I am not sure how to deal with this since I cannot use internal names on the public certificate anymore.  Their Exchange 2010 server has public certificate with External and Internal SAN and all URLs (internal and external) have public name mail.domain.com.

The server name is ex2013.domain.local.  I configured all URLs (internal and external) to have public name mail.domain.com.  I think that this creates this problem, but not sure.

They use IIS Reverse Proxy and all Exchange traffic is forwarded to the new Exchange 2013 server.

How do I deal with this issue?  Anyone can help?

Thank you. Eric.

I'm in the process of doing an Exchange 03 to 2010 migration.. One of the issues I'm having problems with is my 2010 OWA. I have a test mailbox on my 2010 server and can log in and send/receive fine but when I try to delete emails I get:

"An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled."

In the eventvwr the following are logged.. I've been googling for hours and cannot fix this.. I have no host headers, I have no web.config file to delete in my c:\inetpub\wwwroot.. Any help would be appreciated..

Outlook Security Alert

$

Hello,

Last week, the user's Outlook clients started getting persistent pop-up messages when connecting to Exchange server 2013 on server 2012.

The pop-up security alert stated the security certificate is from trusted certifying authority. The security date is valid, but the security certificate does not match the name of the site.

I clicked View Certificate and installed the certificate successfully. The next day it pop-up again.

Can someone help me?

Exchange Office Web Apps Preview Does not work in OWA (web)

$

I have setup Exchange 2013, Lync 2013, SharePoint 2013, IIS as a Reverse Proxy Server, an Office Web Apps Server, etc, etc. Everything is setup to use SSl (https) and everything works great EXCEPT... Office Web Apps... and ONLY via Exchange and OWA (exchange browser-based access).

I can login via the intranet or Internet for everything (SharePoint, Outlook, and Lync) and Office Web apps functionality works flawlessly for all... except for Exchange and OWA.

If I login in to a web-based Exchange seeion, everything works right and I can see the various attachments.

For all other scenarios, Office Web Apps works (SharePoint, Outlook, Lync, etc), but in owa (web version of Outlook) I see that Office Web Apps is triggered (I see the Office Web Apps text and the dots that indicate something is loading)... However, it just crashes and eventually times out (see image):

If I look in the error logs for the Web Apps Server I see this:

Essentially, it looks like that owa uses a distinctly different path to load the attachments into the Web Apps Server such that the file is not found!

What is happening? Why does Exchange OWA (web version of Outlook) somehow use a different path that fails to locate  attachments in Office Web Apps, but Lync, Outlook, and SharePoint (both in Intranet and Internet) work perfectly?

This is VERY frustrating. Can anyone help?

Please?

Clearly, the reverse proxy is working, the certificates are working, OAuth is working, etc. It seems there must be some variable/path that is only defined in Exchange for OWA that uses a different path for Office Web App attachments and that path is WRONG!

Please, help!

Thanks

Hello. We installed Exchnage 2013 CU1. When accessing OWA, there is no "expand/collapse all groups" button. So users with many emails have to scroll up and down to locate what they want. Is there a way to enable /expand/collapse?

Outlook Web Access Auto Archive

We have a user that needs to automatically archive old emails from their Inbox to another folder within the OWA. There is a way to create a rule using the 'New Inbox Rule' but that doesn't include the option to archive messages older than XX days. Is there anyway to do this? We do not want to automatically archive out inbox to local files on the user's machine.

Hi all,

testing out Coexistens With Exchange 2010 and 2013 so far so good. One issue so far is Outlook and autodiscover.

If i login to user.one (mailbox on exchange 2010) then autodiscover finds correct server.
If i login to user.two (mailbox on Exchange 2013) then autodiscover gives me cryptic server name (more like a sid)

Any idea how to fix it so it shows correct server name ( Exchange 2013 servername)

Thanks in advance!

Contact photos do not sync from Outlook 2011 for Mac to Outlook 2013

$

Hello, I installed Office for Mac 2011 and when it synced the contacts (through Exchange), most of the contact photos now no longer show in OWA or in Outlook 2013 from my Windows PC's. They are not lost: In Outlook 2013 (for windows) they appear instead under "Notes", in the form of a thumbnail jpeg. On my Mac, however, the photos show up correctly. None of my windows accounts (e.g., windows phone) now show any photos any longer. I tried some troubleshooting: I deleted all my contacts from everything, and imported them back to Outlook for Mac and synced them, but the photos still show only under "notes" in the Windows accounts.

How can I solve the issue? I see the same problem reported by other people, but I am not aware of a resolution.

Outlook clients can't see new Exchange 2013 Server

$

Upgrade from Exchange 2003 (rip and replace). Configured internal and external urls, imported public certificate from the old server.  Everything external, Outlook Anywhere, Outlook Web Access and Active-sync all work (except for autodiscover certificate error).  Internally Outlook (2010 & 2013) will not see the Exchange server, and Outlook web access reports a certificate mismatch (the public certificate, not the internal self signed certificate is presented to the client). If I configure Outlook Anywhere externally, I can bring the notebook local and Outlook will work, but slowly and with a lot of protesting (cert and proxy errors).

Not surprisingly, the remote connectivity analyzer passes, but running
Test-OutlookWebServices locally fails on the 'Autodiscover Outlook Provider' Scenario, reporting an invalid remote certificate.  I am assuming Exchange is presenting the public certificate.  Is there a way to have Exchange use the self signed certificate for the local users?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

How do I delete an email sent via outlook 2010 that's not in sent folder yet?

$

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me. I got myself in to a bit of a pickle! I use Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop at home. The mail server is in office. By mistake, I had sent an email to the wrong recipient but I realised it as soon as I hit the send button. I quickly disabled my computers Wifi to stop the email being sent out. Looks like that did the trick and this email is not yet showing in my Outlook's sent mail folder. So I guess it is still in the Outlook cache somewhere.

When I exit Outlook, it asks whether to exit without sending the unsent message and if I click Yes, it closed Outlook. However when I launch outlook again (PC Wifi is still turned off)- again at the time of exiting Outlook, I get the same prompt asking there is unsent email and whether I should exit Outlook without sending the email.

Question is whether there is a way I can delete this message so that it doesn't get sent to the recipient?

Please help!
